RWBY: Shadow Company

Chapter 41

The bell in the tower was ringing. Weiss could hear it across the town. It rings wildly, catching everyone's attention. Down below, where the rest were gathering, Matthew and Greg were among them.

"Grimm! We got Grimm!" Shouted the guard ringing the bells.

"Where? Where are they coming from?" Matthew asked.

"Everywhere! They're all around us!"

"How many?" Greg asked as well.

"Too many! Get to the walls! Get every guard out here! Protect the civilians! Defend Higanbana!" Shouted the bell ringer.

The horror began to fill everyone's faces upon hearing the news. That couldn't be true. Such a scale has never happened to the town before.

"You heard him! Get to your stations!" Matthew shouted.

"Close the gates!"

"Get to the armory! Arm yourself!"

Every guard in town was now rushing to their battle stations. Those that were not on duty had to return to duty. And even the ones on break had to cut short to return to the walls.

"Hurry, get on the walls! The Grimm are coming!"

"Hey, I need more guns over here! We're exposed!"

"By the gods, just how many of them are out there? What did he mean by there were too many?"

"Hey, we need more men over here!"

"Does anyone know where those shadows went!?"

Every guard rushed to their stations, setting up defenses and gun placements. They were passing weapons, grenades, and ammunition to each other.

Matthew and Greg rushed to one of the gates that had yet to be closed. As soon as Matthew placed his hands on the gate, he felt the barrel of a gun pressed against his forehead. It was one of the bandits from earlier. In the corner of his eye, he can see Greg is in a similar position as him.

"Let's just take it easy, fellas. The Grimm are getting closer. We must close the gates." Matthew said.

The bandit was breathing heavily. He must have run ahead of everyone to get here first.

"Wait." The bandits threaten.

"But the Grimm will get in if we don't," Greg begged.

"Our Boss is on her way here. Keep it open. Unless you want a bullet in your head." The bandit racks his gun.

"Okay, okay. Just don't shoot us. We'll let your boss through." Matthew sighs.

"Good doggie."

The rest of the bandits came running out of the woods. Some of them were worse for wear. Bleeding and clutching onto their wounds but still holding onto their guns. They have managed to grab a few rockets and a couple of heavy machine guns.

Raven was among her cohort and strolled right through the gates before the guards were allowed to close it behind them.

"Where are those two bastards?" Raven asked.

"They're gone, boss. We haven't seen them after the little distraction they threw at us."

Raven groans. She had them right where she wanted them. She could have killed them when she had the chance.

"Fine. Forget it. We're here for the girl, not them. The Schnee may still be here, spread out and find her." Raven command.

"But, what about the Grimm? There's still a ton of them back there coming this way. And even that big one from before, there's no way we will find her in time."

Raven grabs him by the collar and lifts him, "I know that. But the town guards can deal with them. If we don't have the girl soon, those cybernetic lunatics will fry our necks! Got it!?"

The bandit quickly nods.

She throws him to the ground, "I should have never made that deal. I had no idea that it would be those two, especially Leon, of all people. You all know what to do, go! Find her, and let's get out of here!"

"Yes, boss!" Everyone said.

Out of nowhere, one was shot in the head, causing his head to explode from the bullet's impact. Unfortunately, Raven happens to be standing in his direction. The rest began to hide themselves from the shooter.

"Sniper! Get out of the open!"

"Is it them? Were they waiting for us!?"

"Where did that shot come from?"

On the far side of town, looking through a sniper scope, was Rook lying on top of the highest roof. "Looks like the rest of the party is here." He said as he racks his bolt back, chambering another round into the barrel to fire again.

Raven wipes the blood off her face. "Will someone take care of that sniper!? The rest of you, start searching! Do what you must to find her!" She shouted.

The bandits nodded and started breaking down the nearest doors and windows into the houses to find Weiss.

Rook watched them as they panicked. "That's not good." He presses his radio, "Bishop, we got another problem here."

"What is it, Rook?" Bishop asked.

"Branwen's sister is here. She might be after the girl, and she's got some guys with her. They're breaking down doors and searching the houses."

"Do you see Frost and Leon anywhere? Have they made it back yet?"

Rook takes another look, "Negative, no sign of them yet. We should try to reach them with comms."

"Alright, we're heading to secure the hostages. Keep Branwen's sister busy."

Rook switches his scope to thermal vision, "Roger that."

"Happy hunting."

Rook aims and fires another round.

Another bandit has fallen from Rook. The bandits scrambled into the inner parts of the town. Little by little, their group began to thin out.

"That sniper just shot Kenny!"

"You bastard!"

"Stay down, you idiot! Do you want to get shot next!?"

"Come on. The girl has to be in one of these houses!"

"But there's a lot of houses here."

Weiss was watching them from the windows. Her heart was pounding as she watched the bandits get closer from door to door. She closes the blinds and returns, looking for a hiding place.

Weiss ran to grab Frost's cloak first and put it on. She was bringing the hood over her head and adjusting the mask on her face.

"Here, let's check this one." Said a bandit. The door began to break down the door.

Weiss turns around and fumbles to get her gun out.

The door bursts open, and two bandits enter the house. One of them signals the other to go upstairs to where Weiss is. He kicks the door down and enters the room.

"You see anything in there?" The other said.

"No, it's empty. Hold on. I'm going to look around some more."

Weiss held her hand over her mouth. She could see through the gaps where the bandit was. He slowly moved around the room, checking the bed, closets, and the bathroom. But no sign of Weiss.

He returned to the bedroom and noticed a faint humming sound. It didn't sound like a fan or a tv. It was in the corner of the room, with one basket that was left unopened. He had a hunch, but he could be right.

He quietly walks over to the basket and hovers his hand over the cover.

"Found you!" The bandit yelled as he ripped off the cover.

It was empty.

Confused, the bandit scratches his head and looks around again. He felt something dripping on his head. He touches his head and looks up.

A girl in a mask was hanging from the ceiling. She was holding something sharp in her hand. As soon as he noticed her, he quickly tried to shoot her.

But Weiss falls from the ceiling and stabs him.

"Argh!" The bandit screamed in pain.

Weiss thrusts Mytrenaster through the thug's chest, and the blade is right where his heart is. She quickly pulled her dagger out and ran out of the room. She ran to hide as she could hear the other running up the stairs, leaving the first bandit to bleed out.

"What!? Oh shit!" Said the other as he ran up the stairs. Upon entering the room, he found his dead companion on the floor. "Fuck, she's got to be here."

The bandit runs to the window, "Hey guys! Over here!"

Wiess comes out from hiding again and stabs him as well. This time she had aimed her blade a little too high and pierced the back of his neck, causing him to choke. It was gruesome, one that Weiss did not expect to happen.

In horror, she pulls her blade back and watches the bandits slowly dying on the window.

She breathed heavily at the sight, her hands were shaking, and her mind was cloudy. She had just taken two more lives by her own hands.

Self-defense, that was self-defense. Weiss thought to herself.

Once she could think again, she ran out of the room and down the stairs. Luckily, there was no one else near the house. They must have spread themselves out to find her quicker.

She can't stay in the house. Not when the bandits broke the front door, and the body of their dead friend was hanging out the window. Weiss heads out the door and looks for another place to hide. Anywhere but here.

"That's another one down," Rook said as he shot another bandit. Weiss suddenly appeared in his scope, and she was heading his way.

"Bishop, I got eyes on the girl. She's running in my direction." Rook said. On the other end, Rook could hear gunfire.

"Go after her. We're a little busy over here. I'll send Knight over to help secure your sector." Bishop said.

"Roger that."

Rook then felt the loud thumps from the Grimm. He looks ahead and sees the Alpha Deathstalker getting closer to the walls.

Rook sighs, "I'm too old for this." He packs his rifle and races down the rooftops for a better vantage point.

Weiss turns another corner and stops to catch her breath.

She takes off her mask to breathe easier. Her hands wouldn't stop shaking after she killed- no, she defended herself against the two bandits from earlier. The screaming and gunfire happening all around her were not helping her.

But her break was cut short when a pair of arms suddenly grabbed her out of nowhere.

"I got her! I got her!" The bandit yelled.

"Let me go!" Weiss screamed.

"Shut it, bitch!"

"Help! Somebody helps me!" Weiss cried.

The bandit slaps her, "I said shut it! Tie her and gag her."

"Hey!" A fourth voice yelled.

The bandits turned around, "What? Who's that?"

He dropped them with a bullet in each head. It happened so fast that one of them fell onto Weiss. He was pinning her to the ground.

Weiss turns around and pushes the dead bandit from her. And a black-gloved hand reaches out for her.

"Weiss, are you okay?" Frost asked as he held her hand.

Weiss then suddenly hugs him. And Frost returns the hug.

"It's alright, Weiss. I'm here." Frost said.

A/N: Weiss is saved! But the fight isn't over yet. I know. I didn't want Weiss to be separated from Frost and Leon.

I had trouble trying to write a good opening for this chapter. And this was what I came up with. I initially wanted Frost and Leon to fight Raven back in the woods. But then I thought of my old idea about a team of shows defending a village, so I thought, why not do that but with Frost and Leon? But how would I get them back to the town at that point?

So I included the green mutant liquid from the Grimm Eclipse video game. Leon mentions that it acts as a bile jar from Left for Dead 2 if it's banned. Yes. It is a weapon that attracts Grimm far more effectively than humans and Faunus' emotions. (This is my explanation for this story.) This green liquid might be why the Grimm was so large when they attacked the city.

Now I got to think of what is going to happen now. All of the players are here in the town. How is it going to play out? I'm working on it.

And thank you for reading.
