Hello, just a shorter chapter to get back into the swing of things.
Hope you enjoy! :D
Disclamer: I own only my trauma, not any colour based fairytale stories, :P
To say I was confused would be an understatement. Lost would also fit into that category.
I just spent the last hour of my life running from a creature whose sole purpose was to end it. I would have stopped, had I not heard the great roar of renewed hunt, six-fold greater than its predecessor.
As I ran, half stumbling through brambles and bushes, the sounds of monsters became fainter and fainter, until eventually stopping completely. Once I realised my safety, the strength evaporated in my limbs, and I fell.
My bear arms stung from the cold and my clothes, thin and unsuited for the weather, soaked in molten snow from my body's attempt at keeping itself warm. Honestly, I'm surprised I haven't gotten hypothermia yet.
To make a bad situation worse, it began to snow, albeit lightly. I pulled myself up, leaving my impression in the snow behind as I kept walking. Soon I lost track of the hours, days, maybe even weeks spent walking, hiding and scavenging.
For the most part I had succeeded, but that only gave me more time to examine my situation, like now, sat by a makeshift fire and wedged between several rocks barely large enough to protect from the ongoing storm.
With any progress toward the goal of sleep quickly rent asunder and mocked by the laughter of thunder, I sat and thought. I thought about nothing and everything, and bout my next meal that more so than anything else.
As I looked on, red eyes locked with mine, and my heart froze. The great shape of a wolf, unnaturally bent and twisted, elongated. Black mist making up most of its form, white bony plating and spines armouring the beasts back, arms and legs. Unlike those of its kin from before, this one was much larger. The creature released a great howl and charged.
I ran, almost escaping the attack. My arm went numb as I heard blood splattering and fell to my side. faster than I could turn onto my back I was pinned, claws digging into my flesh and the beast's maw closing in around my throat.
And then, the world went dark.
