Hey guys, so this is basically a watching Leo's memories fic. I will be along inspiration from other stories. There's one story I highly recommend reading called Learning about Leo by mewsugarpudd. It's really good, and gave me a lot of inspo. Hope you enjoy, I love you all so much and stay safe besties!
Leo lay in his bed, staring up at the ceiling. He had to get up, but he didn't want to. He didn't see the point.
But if he didn't, his friends would grow suspicious, so he dragged himself out of bed and got dressed for the day. He showered and brushed his teeth, finding no point in the robotic actions.
He walked out of his room to the dining hall of the Argo ll. He entered the room and sat down in the closest seat he could find. Nobody acknowledged his entry.
Of course they wouldn't, why would they care about a worthless repair boy?
He buttered some bread, and started chewing slowly.
"Hey Leo!"
He started when he heard his name. He turned to the source; Hazel had called him to sit next to her. He smiled, and moved next to her, ignoring the dirty look he received from Frank.
"Leo, when's the ship going to be ready to keep going?" Jason asked. The boat had been damaged slightly in an attack the night before, and they had been stationary for several hours.
"Jason," Piper scolded. "Let him eat his breakfast first."
"No, it's fine," Leo said, ignoring the sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach. "We should be moving again in a couple hours."
"That long?" Frank asked. "Can't you fix it quicker?"
Leo flinched ever so slightly. He had been working almost the entire night, had only half an hour of sleep, just to be told to hurry up?
"No, that's the fastest I can get it, sorry," Leo replied. "I'll go start working now so that I can get it done soon."
With that, he stood up and made his way to the engine room.
He leaned against the wall, slid to the floor in a tight ball and sighed. Back to work.
On Olympus
Hera watched over the seven demigods with a frown on her face. As much as she hated to admit it, she still had a soft spot for the son of Hephaestus after watching over him when he was a kid.
But his so-called "friends" didn't know a thing about him, and it bothered her.
So she decided to call in a few favours. They would learn about Leo Valdez's past or else.
Back on the Argo Il
The Seven all sat down for lunch.
Well, more like the Six.
"Where's Leo?" Piper asked.
"Who cares?" Frank said.
"He's probably just working on something else," Jason reassured her.
Piper seemed unhappy with this response, but she settled for it. She started eating, and talking to Jason. The rest of the group did the same, chatting to their respective partner as they ate.
Until a goddess appeared.
The demigods jumped up in shock, drawing their swords and weapons. However, they lowered them as soon as they realised that the queen of the gods was standing right in front of them.
"Lady Juno," Jason said, bowing respectfully.
"Hera," she corrected.
"Yeah whatever, what are you doing here, Your Bovine Majesty?" Annabeth asked sarcastically.
Hera curled her lip slightly at the daughter of Athena, but ignored her disrespect.
"It has come to my attention that you have been neglecting one of your number," she said. "You know nothing about Leo Valdez, and I'm here to change that."
"We know plenty about Leo!" Percy protested.
"Is that so?" Hera asked. "Where did he grow up?"
Percy opened his mouth, then closed it. He looked around at the rest of the group, but they merely shrugged.
"That's what I thought," Hera said. "Close your eyes. All of you."
Startled, they did as she said. A white flash burned against their eyelids, and they opened their eyes as soon as it was over.
They were in a white room, with a big sofa and a TV screen in the middle, complete with a small coffee table and one Leo Valdez standing in confusion in the middle of the room.
"Guys? What's going on?" he asked, sounding incredibly confused.
"We don't know," Annabeth said. She sounded frustrated. Understandable. She was a daughter of Athena. She hated not knowing what was going on.
Suddenly, Hera's voice sounded from somewhere above them. "In order for you to understand your companion better, you will be watching some of his memories."
At once, the room erupted into protests and arguments.
"You can't do that-"
"That's an invasion of privacy-"
"No way!"
This furious response from the son of Hephaestus had the rest of the group staring at him.
They had never seen him so angry. He was visibly making a conscious effort not to explode into flames, and he looked ready to murder the queen of the gods.
Without warning, he spun towards the TV screen, and began attacking it with his fire.
His friends cried out in shock, and backed away from him. He relentlessly attacked the screen, doing his best to incinerate it.
"Stop attacking my TV screen!" Hera's voice echoed through tout the room, and Leo froze, panting.
"You can't do this," he said, but all the fight had gone out of his voice, as if he knew that he would not be able to change the outcome of this scenario.
"Your companions must learn about you in order for this quest to be successful," Hera said, and Piper thought she detected a slight hint of softness inner tone.
Why was that there?
Before she could get into it too far, Hera's voice interrupted her thoughts. "Sit down. The first memory will be beginning shortly."
