I'm back!~ After taking some time away from this fic and starting another, I've finally gotten the creative ball rolling once again, and I'm ready to continue our little love story forward. Speaking of my second fic, it's a RWBY fanfic I just started. I don't expect you to go check it out, but I would be grateful if you did. It's called "The Wolf of Remnant", and you can find it on my profile.
Anyway, enough self-promotion, it's time to focus on this fic. Let's see how our favorite paranormal people will adjust to their new situation, shall we?

Chapter XII: Sleepover
The feeling of Ember's lips on his was something that Danny had dreamed of for a while now. Even before his disastrous relationship with Sam, he would be lying if he said he wasn't crushing on the rockstar to some extent.
But all the dreams in the world couldn't compare to the actual feeling. It wasn't how it's described in books, or portrayed in movies, there was no electricity, no sparks or anything so grandiose. There was an overwhelming feeling of… happiness, love. It may be cliche, but he would swear that he could feel those emotions pouring off both him and Ember in waves.
While Ember didn't need to breathe due to her status as a ghost, Danny on the other hand did still need oxygen. As he pulls back, he opens his eyes to stare into those of the girl on his chest. The electric green orbs are full of admiration and care, "Wow." He mutters.
She giggles almost embarrassedly, her face taking on a dark hue, "'Wow' is right, babypop. I might just have to thank the Goth for teaching you how to kiss."
Danny lets out a laugh of his own, but his holds no humor, it's a dry mocking sound, "I hate to burst your bubble, but Sam certainly didn't teach me how to kiss. Especially not like that."
Her dark eyebrows knit together in both confusion and surprise, "If she didn't teach you how to kiss, who did?"
A small part of him wishes that she asked out of jealousy, but Danny knows that not to be the case, "No one."
"What do you mean 'no one'?" She asks, somewhat heatedly.
"Aww is someone jealous? That's adorable, but I meant that literally. No one taught me how to kiss, like, at all." Danny responds.
"What? I thought you and Sam kissed before." Ember says, now thoroughly confused.
Danny adjusts himself, placing his hands on the small of her back as she lies atop him, "You would be right, though technically she kissed me, not the other way around."
"So I'm the only girl you've ever kissed?" Her tone is hopeful.
"Willingly? Yeah, you're the first and only girl I've ever kissed." He confirms with a smile.
His reward for that answer is another kiss that sends wave after wave of warmth spreading through his body. It's strange, and hard to explain. It's not as though its literal warmth, at least not in the physical sense. It's almost like an emotional warmth.
Danny smiles into the kiss as he repositions his left hand to lie against her left cheek. He can feel Ember smile at his actionsl before she pulls away, "Stop that! It's hard to kiss you when you're making me smile."
He can't help but laugh at the absurdity of her statement, earning himself a glare in the process, "I'm sorry, I don't mean to laugh at you Amber, but that has to be the first time I've ever heard of a girl being mad that a guy made her smile."
Her face flushes in response and she buries her face into his chest to hide the flood of color that now adorns her face. Danny can hear, and feel the vibrations of her mumbling voice against him, "What was that?" He asks.
Ember huffs as she turns her head, her ear now pressed against his chest directly above his heart, "I said: I like it when you call me Amber." She says in a shy voice.
"Then I guess I should get used to calling you that from now on, shouldn't I?" Danny responds, giving her a quick hug.
"Only in private!" She's quick to say, squeezing him tightly to emphasize her words. "I don't want anyone else to know my real name. Besides, I want it to be something just between us two."
"You're right. It's something that feels special." Danny says, agreeing.
The newly formed couple continue chatting. Their positions within the mass of cushions are ever changing. No subject in particular is covered in their countless conversations, just random things. Their experiences in the Ghost Zone, favorite and least favorite ghosts that they have encountered, what it's like being a halfa, and so on. It isn't until Danny feels his cell phone ringing that he realizes just how long he had been gone from Amity.
The halfa pulls the device from his pocket and answers it. "Hello?"
"Danny! Where are you? It's nearly midnight!" The concerned sound of his mother reaches his ears.
"Midnight?!" He repeats, his tone disbelieving as he moves into a sitting position. Taking a look at a large digital clock on the back wall of Ember's living room confirms the time. 23:52. "Crap, I'm so sorry mom. I just lost track of time."
"I'm just glad you're alright. Your father and I were beginning to worry." She says, although she wasn't going to tell him that the two senior Fentons were preparing to lay siege to the Ghost Zone just to find him if they had to.
"Yeah, I'm perfectly fine. Just hanging out with a friend." Danny says evasively.
Friend? Ember mouths, somewhat disappointed.
"Oh? Your father and I were under the impression you were in the Ghost Zone. Either way that's fine, Danny, you're an adult now. I don't expect you to constantly tell your father or I your every movement. Are you coming home tonight?" Maddie responds.
That's a good question, do I want to go home? Turning to look at his girlfriend, his decision seems that much easier. "One sec mom, be right back." Danny says as he mutes the phone.
"Hey Amber?" He calls out.
"Yeah babypop?"
"Would it be alright with you if I crash here tonight? I didn't realize it was so late and I don't really feel like traversing the GZ to get back to the Fenton Portal." He explains.
"Sure, whatever." She says, and Danny can't help but feel he made a mistake.
Putting that aside for the moment, he unmutes his phone once more. "Uhh, no. I won't be back home till tomorrow mom."
"That's fine, dear. Just call or message if you need anything. We love you." His mother says.
"I love you two, too. Goodnight mom." Danny responds before ending the call.
Turning to look at the girl next to him, the halfa notices the irritated look on her face. "Spending the night with a friend, huh? And you only want to stay because you don't feel like going through the GZ?"
'Shit. Not even a full day into this and I already screwed up. Time to do some damage control Fenton.'
"Well, I don't think my parents would take too well to the idea that I was spending the night with my girlfriend. Besides, I didn't know how public you wanted our relationship to be." Danny explains. "And let the record show that I want to stay here because you're here. Not because I'm tired. Plus, I don't want to come off as too clingy or something…"
"Lie to me again, and I'll kick your ass. Speaking of, you can bet your ass that I want us to be public." She says as she crawls across the pit on all fours towards Danny, a predatory look in her eye. "I want everyone to know that you are mine. And I don't share."
Danny can feel a shiver go down his spine, although it's one that is not entirely unpleasant. "Oh? Is someone possessive?" He teases, his tone not indicating the nerves he's currently feeling.
"You're damn right I'm possessive. I've been waiting for this a long time and I don't plan on sharing or letting you go." Ember says, as she changes her position to straddle him.
Feeling his heartbeat quicken and the blood rush to his face at her actions, Danny speaks. "I can't say I have a problem with that." Feeling bold he quickly adds, "And I definitely don't have a problem with your new seat."
He can see his words have the desired effect as her face darkens a shade or two, but surprisingly she smiles and stands her ground, not moving from his lap. "G-Good to know, cause I'm comfortable." Ember says as she leans into him.
Danny wraps his arms around her, his hands resting dangerously close to her butt due to her position atop him. Now that he isn't kissing her and his mind isn't otherwise occupied, he can truly appreciate the feeling of her body against his. All of the subtle curves and softness of her body compared to his solid muscle. It was a pleasant feeling, not in a perverse way, but in a calming sense. The only way he could explain it was it just felt right.
Despite the calming effect she had on him, Danny could feel his nerves wreaking havoc within his mind and across his body. He began to overthink the longer the two stayed like that. He was nervous about his hands dropping too low, or if he accidentally moved and hurt her, or other such things.
"You know, I can feel your heartbeat like this." Ember says, causing him to tense up even further. "Relax." She says soothingly, "I trust you, Danny."
That single sentence means more to him than Danny could explain. He could feel his eyes sting as unshed tears flooded them. Quickly hiding his face against Ember's shoulder, he squeezes her tightly to him. "I promise to never betray that trust." He says.
Feeling a hand rake through his short hair, he relaxes. "I know you won't." Her hand repeats the process, running from the front of my scalp to the back, a few times before she lets out a sigh and moves to sit beside Danny.
"Why'd you move?" He asks, disappointed at the loss of warmth and contact.
"As much as we'd both like for me to stay there, my legs were starting to cramp, and I don't wanna send you full ghost by making your heart explode from being nervous." She says the last part with a snicker.
"Yeah, yeah, laugh it up." Danny says, "I'm man enough to say that it would've been worth it." The two share a laugh at his words. "So, where's my bed for the night?"
"We can just crash in the pit tonight, it's not like I haven't done it before. Besides, the only guest room I have is full of Kitty's stuff for when she stays over." Ember explains.
"That makes sense- wait, we?" He says.
"Yeah, we are going to sleep here tonight." Ember says adamantly.
All the relaxation that had eased him minutes ago was instantly undone at her words. Danny can only imagine the things that could go wrong in this situation. Although he can't bring himself to protest. After all, he had never slept with anyone before. At least not since he shared a bed with either his sister or parents when he was younger.
"Okay then." He says tensely.
"Dude, relax. We're just gonna sleep. Matter of fact, I'll blast you if you try any funny business. I might like you, but I'm not that kinda girl." Ember says.
Danny quickly realizes that she misunderstood his hesitation. "Wait, that's not what I'm nervous about, Amber. It's just that I've never shared a bed with anyone outside of my sister and parents when I was a kid. And I've certainly never shared a bed with my girlfriend, so I'm worried about doing something wrong."
Her previous words forgotten, Ember snaps her fingers which summons a large blanket that covers the entirety of the conversation pit and lowers the lights in the living room to near nothing. "Here, lie down and get comfortable."
Danny does as directed and chooses to lie against the edge of the pit, near one of the corners. "Comfortable?" Ember asks.
A nod is all she gets in response, "Good." She says before lying down right next to him in such a way that the back of her body is pressed tightly against his. Turning ever so slightly to look back at him, she speaks. "If it makes you feel any better, I've never done anything like this either. I'm just as worried as you are, but you want to know something I've learned about relationships?"
"What's that?" Danny responds, slipping an arm around her midsection.
"First, I'm glad you decided to hold me on your own, I was about to tell you to anyway. But what I learned from, mainly from Kitty, is that relationships aren't what they're made out to be in books and on TV. Mistakes happen, awkward situations happen, and there's nothing we can do to change that. It's up to us to make the best of those situations." She says with a shrug that Danny can feel against his chest.
"Also, you are not sleeping in jeans and a t-shirt while at my house. Especially not if I'm going to be sleeping next to you." Ember adds, snapping her fingers and changing Danny's clothing to a pair of pajama pants, but outright removing his shirt.
"Uhh, Amber? I don't think your trick worked on my shirt." He says, awkwardly.
"Why's that?" She asks.
"Because now I don't have one at all." Danny says.
"Oh, no it worked just how I wanted it to." Ember says, a mischievous tone to her voice.
"You're gonna be the death of me, I swear." Danny mutters.
He can feel Ember tense against him, but as he gets used to the feeling of her against him once more, he can't help but relax. Like everything else so far in their relationship, lying here next to her doesn't feel awkward or out of place, Danny feels like this is where she belongs. In his arms.
"But I wouldn't have it any other way." He says, the warmth and comfort from the girl in his arms beginning to drag him into unconsciousness.
"I- ve- you- nny-." He hears Ember speak one last time as he fades into the realm of sleep, but he can't make out her words.
