Having started his work on the Killdane Branch Neville was enjoying it and the time on the railway as well. Taking goods up and down the line to Killdane and even down towards the Harbour and up the mane line to Croven's Gate.
He was shunting in the yard when Arry and Bert pulled in and sat either side of him, Neville looked them down and saw their uneasy smiles.
"You won't last." said Arry.
"We'll make sure of." added Bert.
"Nether of you are Sir Tophams engines." said Neville trying to be brave.
"And neither are you." the two laughed.
Neville backed down slowly.
"Just watch your buffers." said Bert.
"Or you'll be sleeping in pieces." sniggered Arry.
The two pulled away leaving Neville who sat nestled between trucks on all sides. Hearing the sounds of their engines fade Neville started up, and left the yard and headed down the line.
He was coming up to Killdane and stopped at the station as he waited for heavy goods train to pass, and sitting at the station as well was Murdoch. Neville spotted him and warmed up after his run in with the twins.
"High Murdoch." he smiled.
"Neville good to see you, I wanted to tell you something."
"What about?"
"Your bridge."
"My bridge."
"Yes the one you crashed on."
Neville laughed "Don't remind me."
"they're going to rename it Neville's bridge."
"Why." wheezed Neville.
"It's a tradition, around here. Many tunnels and hills and so on get named after events and the engines tied to them."
"So I'm getting a bridge named after me."
"Yep, Harvey says it will be finished soon and you, me, Edward and BoCo can all make the trip up the line a lot easier."
"Good to hear that." smiled Neville.
Before long both engines got a green single and left the station giving a whistle to each other.
As he moved down the line Neville smiled as he passed under his bridge and looked up at it as he went by. His smile spanned buffer to buffer and was smacked in the middle of his face, and it stayed that way all the way to Cronk.
As he arrived Emily pulled in with the local.
"Oh high Emily." he smiled.
"High Neville, how are things at the Iron Works."
"Good, but the twins are still trying to off me."
"That's got to be hard to deal with."
"I get by, oh how are things at Tidmouth, have the others come around."
"Bear, Henry and I are on your side, Gordon and James are still hard sway."
"What about the other's at Elsbridge, and the coastal engines, the twins and those great western engines."
"There all fine with you, half of them have never met you."
"Oh what about that little traction engine, what's his name Forgos?"
"Fergus."
"Yes that's it."
"He's fine with you as well." Emily smiled.
Neville smiled and let out happy sigh.
"Funny, why didn't you ask about Molly?"
Neville started to blush.
"Besides Bear she was the only one who was on your side from the beginning."
"Well, uh you know." said Neville "Oh look I've got to go." he said and steamed away.
Emily smiled to her self before setting of as well.
Neville was still feeling a bit shy as he climbed the hill and came down the other side, before shortly arriving at Wellsworth. Feeling a little better he pulled in to the yard and found Molly shunting trucks of coal, he tried to back out but bumped the trucks.
And as Molly backed out she saw Neville.
"High Neville, it's nice to see you again."
"Oh high Molly." said Neville becoming uneasy.
"I missed talking to you, I enjoy your company." she smiled softly.
"I know, I feel the same way." said Neville. "But I feel like James won't like me talking to you."
"Oh." sighed Molly "I understand, I can't get him to change his mind on some things he strongly about."
"That's fine, I don't even know if I'm staying here or not."
"But you've proven yourself so much."
"What about the fact I took a train and almost crashed of a bridge, had BoCo do my work then got in fight with Henry and broke is safety valve."
"That was your first few days, you've come so far since then."
"You have too." smiled Neville "I feel that you've come out your shell more."
Molly blushed as she smiled and looked away form Neville.
Soon enough James arrived and two went back to shunting trucks.
"Hello Wellsworth your favourite engine has arrived." he called out.
Molly looked put of by James' show boating, and Neville carried on shunting.
"Molly, don't you look nice today." smiled James looking over at her.
The sun bounced off her bright yellow paint and shone with vision and beauty.
"It really helps bring out my red." Boasted James.
Neville grunted and pulled out of the yard with his trucks.
"Oh, I didn't see you there." said James blowing of Neville.
"Well James it's hard to say I missed you coming in."
"Thank you." smiled James.
"You make so much noise it's hard not to." Neville sniggered, and pulled away heading down to Brendam.
Molly could not help but giggle and James was flustered.
"Who does he think he is." spluttered James, he soon spotted Molly holding back her laughter. "Molly, are you laughing, at his hurtful comments."
"Sorry."
"It's not proper for such splendid engines such as ourselves."
