Part 2
Sydney walked into Dixon's office forty five minutes later to see him reading through a stack of papers.
"Twenty five pages front and back hand written. Yours was only twenty one hand written front and back Syd." Said Dixon
"You believe she wants to help bring these people down?" asked Sydney
"Much of this matches her stepbrother Steven Graves statement from when he first started with Den-16. The man in charge is Ivan Lentz."
Sydney racked her brain. She knew that the name was familiar to her but wasn't sure why.
"I know that name but can't place it."
"Lentz has been tied to both the Alliance and the Convent. Rumored to have been tied to Prophet 5 but that could never be proven."
"Three of my least favorite terrorist organizations."
"Well the Alliance is not high on my list either. Neither is the Convent seeing as they kidnapped and tried to brainwash someone I care about into being an assassin."
"I was never so glad that my father used me as a test subject for Project Christmas in my life. Though I wish someone other than Kendell had been my contact."
"I wish he had let me. I know why you hate Prophet 5 as much as you do. They nearly killed the man you love."
"Yeah. Weiss only had a couple pages of this woman's statement. Is she still in the holding room?"
"Yes Rachel Gibson is with her."
"Is Rachel between missions?"
"She is on temporary desk duty. She was shot two weeks ago. Nothing serious but she needs to heal up a bit before she can go back into the field."
"That is one thing I will never miss. Dodging bullets. It hurts to get shot."
"I couldn't agree with you more. I think Weiss and Vaughn would also agree."
"Well at least we don't have to worry about Anna Espinoza shooting you again. Or Irina Derveko shooting Weiss or me again. The assassins that shot Michael might still be out there."
"Sark is still out there. He actually is the one that shot Rachel."
"Where was she shot?"
"Once in her left shoulder and once in the upper left arm."
"That hurts. Dixson, I think it is time to meet my asset."
"True see if you can get her to see one of the doctors. Weiss is convinced that she saw a dentist that went to the same school as the one you and your friend Will saw in Taipei."
"Marshall saw him too. Though he was going to skip the teeth pulling and go right to dissolving organs with him. I just got there in time to stop it."
"I know he was grateful for your timing. Go on she should be in room four."
Sydney nodded and headed down to the holding room. She showed her badge to the agents standing guard and they let her in. She looked at the young woman sitting at the table looking how she had felt the first time she walked into the CIA all those years ago. She smiled at Rachel who had stood up when she had entered the room.
"Agent Bristow or is it Vaughn?" asked Rachel
"Let's stick with Bristow so there is no confusion when my husband is in the office. But it has and will always be Sydney to you Rachel." Said Sydney
"It is good to see you again."
"Dixson told me what happened. Next time shoot Sark before he can shoot you. That is if I don't get the chance first."
"Trust me I plan to. But he got the drop on me. Plus he had been holding a kid hostage. My partner went for the kid and just missed getting his head blown off. I will leave you to get to know our guest here."
"Call me and we can get lunch or something."
"Will do. I can tell you about the guy I am seeing. Don't worry I did a background check on him. He is clean as far as I can tell."
"Good."
Sydney sat down across from Serena and opened the file she had brought in.
"Serena Turner, twenty four years old. Daughter of Alexander and Sarah Turner. Older sister of Sean Turner, stepfather is John Graves, stepsister Stacey Graves and stepbrother Steven Graves. Someone in your two families liked names that begin with s."
Serena just looked at her. Sydney could see anger in the younger woman's eyes. Sydney closed the file.
"Ms. Turner, I know you are angry and most likely want to go and rip Ivan Lentz's head off if not completely gut him like a fish. I felt that way once a little over ten years ago. Thought I was doing something good for my country. But it turned out to be a lie. I learned the truth after I told my fiancée a man named Danny Hecht that I worked for what I believed at the time was a black ops division of the CIA called SD-6. The man in charge of SD-6 found out I told him and had him killed. My estranged father saved my life when the hit was put out on me and told me the truth. To get Arvin Sloan to trust me again I borrowed the passport and credit card of the sister of one of my best friends. I went to Taipei and got this device that Sloan wanted and gave it to him. I got tortured by this Asian dentist in a suit wearing glasses. He pulled one of my molars without the benefit of pain killers. I gave Sloan the device and told him I need the next week off for midterms. I was a graduate student at the time. When I left SD-6 I came here to the CIA to be a double agent. That is when I learned my father was already a double inside of SD-6."
"Why are you telling me this Agent Bristow?" asked Serena
"I am telling you because I know what you are feeling. It took nearly two years for us to take down SD-6 and the rest of the Alliance of 12. But it happened. Sloan got away though he had a backup plan and thanks to his obsession with this like sixteenth century prophet and inventor named Milo Rambaldi he found away to have a woman named Alison Doran genially altered to replace my best friend Francie and killed the real Francie. This woman nearly killed my best friend Will and he ended up in witnesses protection. I ended up kidnapped by an organization called the Covenant who tried to brainwash me into being their assassin. It didn't work do to something my father did to me as a kid. It created a fail safe in my brain that prevents brainwashing. I went back to life as a double agent with my only contact being this asshole director. Everyone I loved and cared about thought I was dead for two years. I ended have those two years of memories erased. I get flashes every once in a while but most of it is blank. I know you are wondering what this has to do with you."
Sydney smiled when she saw her nod.
"Being a double agent is not going to be easy. You are going to have to walk through those doors at Den-16 and act like you know nothing about what they really are. You are going to have keep letting the people that you are sure know nothing of the lie they been told keep believing it. You are going to have to lie to your friends and family. The only one that you won't have to put the act on with when you are alone with is someone I understand you don't exactly get along with. But he risked his own life to save yours. Your stepbrother Steven is already a double agent for us."
"You wouldn't be telling me this if I hadn't been accepted as a double."
"No I wouldn't. Serena, Any issues you have with Steven you are going to have to push aside. Yes you need to act like you always do around him. But he will be the only one inside with you that you can trust."
Serena nodded. While she never let any of her stepfamily members close she did care about Steven and deep down knew she did trust him.
"Now how about I take you to get your injuries looked at? Maybe some painkillers too. Maybe some antibodies? The swelling around your mouth looks like mine did after I saw a crazy Asian dentist."
"Mine didn't wear glasses or a suit. I am not sure if his tools were even clean."
"Come on. Later we will go over your contact procedures and how I as your handler will contact you for a meet."
Serena nodded and stood up and followed Sydney out of the room.
