Love Death and Voidlings

Chapter 5

Sett resisted the urge to roll his eyes at the situation he found himself in, sure why not. Things would get worse for him, his luck had sucked lately and he could not blame anyone but himself and maybe the one that was making him blush in the middle of the street his momma. She was giving him a big hug with teary eyes while some people looked with amusement "Oh you're so grown up, you're no longer my baby boy" Riven hid the smile beneath her hood while Kai'Sa simply stared with an unreadable expression "Mom, love ya but… get off of me. I have a reputation around here"

"You? But you're such a softie Sett" Riven could not hold it in any longer and let out a small giggle "Yeah, he is" Sett glared at her "Zip it"

The exile raised her arms in mock surrender as they waited for the ship to arrive "I must say, I never imagined that you would want to go to Noxus Sett my dear. Be very careful ok? It's dangerous out there" Sett's mother said as he fought the urge to say 'Yeah I never thought I would go to Noxus either' but if he wanted to keep his mother safe he had to take Riven to Noxus in chains.

It didn't sit well with him in all honestly but what could he do, a man needed to have his priorities in check and money and his mother where all that mattered. Moving Kai'Sa back to her "home" was just a bonus, but it did make the situation easier to digest. She fought like a devil and she was probably the most powerful bodyguard he ever had and she wasn't even charging him.

"Yeah don't worry, but someone has to protect this two" he gestured with his thumb to the two girls, Kai'Sa did react to that "I do not, I am merely tagging along your journey" Sett rolled his eyes "Yeah yeah whatever you say gorgeous, come on I see the ship. Be safe mom, I will be back sooner than you can start missing me" Sett walked away from the small group giving his mother time to sneak behind the two woman "Please take care of my Sett for me please. Hope next time we meet one of you calls me mother too" she said with a small giggle "Or both who knows~"

Riven gritted her teeth as she fought off a blush "That woman is dangerous" Kai'Sa tilted her head to the side "Why would we call her mother, she did not give birth to us" Riven let out a long sigh as she walked towards their boat "She wants us to get together with her son in a few words." -"Are we not traveling by group already?"-"She means… romantically" this made the taller woman stop walking as a large blush spread across her cheeks "Oh… OH… I never… I mean I wouldn't mind but… THE MISSION!" she concluded as she sped ahead to hide her embarrassment. Riven would have laughed but she was not feeling that joyous, this was it.

She was going back.

Not how she planned to do things but it was inevitable she guessed. She had to answer for her what she did in the past, for the pain she caused all of Ionia and her people, how fitting that someone from both worlds like her was the one to take her back, Sett waited for them at the boat as he dropped some golden coins on the hand of the pilot "This should cover for all three of us, plus some extra. Don't ever say that the boss isn't generous."

The humble sailor smiled "Thanks Sett, we really appreciate it. I already have prepared your room down in the hull you can just relax with your… escorts?" Sett blinked as he realized how bad it all looked. Him taking a boat to Noxus with two girls and basically asking the whole ship top mind its business.

"T-thanks… come on you two"

Well at least they thought he was getting it on, Kai'Sa stuck to his side like glue but refused to make eye contact. Was she felling shy? "Hey"-"NO… I mean yes?" she activated her mask somehow but Sett did manage to spot how her ears reddened before she covered them. Riven lagged a bit behind and only spoke once he opened the door to their room.

"Three beds and here I thought you would try something"-"Please, my mother did not raise that type of guy. Besides I haven even taken you out to eat yet" he said with a grin which barely got a reaction out of the exile "Funny"

Sett turned to Kai'Sa who was standing still like a statue "Kai'Sa thinks I'm funny, right?"

"Yes, Sett is funny" she quickly agreed and nodded her head, Riven wanted to point out that she only agreed because he was nice to her but decided against it, Riven just wanted to get the last good days of rest she would get for the rest of her life, no need to bicker with her companions for now.

Resting her head against the pillows she let out a long sigh and stared at Sett as he rested his head against the wall "Even if you are not funny… thanks" the half vastaya snorted "Yeah don't even sweat it, if this is really the only way like you say it is then might as well get it over with, but I ermm…" he coughed into his fist as he thought of a way to say this with delicacy "what will happen once we get to Noxus? To you I mean"

"They will lock me in jail, that is a given. As for what happens after that I am not sure… execution is an option and if they are feeling charitable Arena Noxkraya" the name made her shiver as the screams of the crowd could be heard for miles and miles. Sett on the other hand simply frowned, ah so she was going to be fighting for the competition then. That sucked, but it was better to go out swinging than simply being beheaded.

The Noxkraya arena, the oldest and largest arena in the world. A symbol of Noxus might and brutality that had sank its cultural fangs into almost every region… maybe not Demacia but who the hell knew what happened there, Sett as a child had always wondered if the rumors of the spectacle where true but now he felt like it hardly mattered. He had made his own style of arena fights and perfected them in his humble opinion, but curiosity still made him wonder if there was something that he could learn from them.

He did try to ignore the fact that the girl that was sitting across him was going to be dead soon, which sucked because he quite liked her quiet and polite nature, with a killer edge to boot. Just his type of woman "Say, maybe you can win your own freedom at the arenas. Isn't that something Noxus does?"

"I will never fight for them again, you win your freedom and are sent to war. I… can't do it again… I just can't" Riven said as she closed her eyes, Sett gave her space. Poor gal, but there was not much he could do other than always living in fear of what was to come.

Kai'Sa to the surprise of everyone sat in Sett's bed "You will take me to Shurima before or after we go to this noxus place?"

"After, Riven. She takes priority at the moment" this made the purple girl frown "I am needed there, the wound on the world cannot be allowed to spread" Sett raised an eyebrow "You cant be the only fighting this threat right?" This made Kai'Sa shake her head "None that I know"

Sett growled under his breath "Why are both of you so… ok fine, we just drop off Riven and we'll head to the Shuriman port and then I will take a vacation to de-stress"

The ship began to move as the waves softly caressed the underside of the ship and Sett closed his eyes. He had a feeling this little road trip of his was going to be more complicated than needed but at the very least, he opened one eye as he stared at the other two "Cant say I have bad company" he muttered to himself as the boat left the Ionian beach and headed into the open waters.

A/N: Hi! Sorry about the long wait, I actually felt out of love with league a couple of years ago but the new game mode pulled me back in and I fell in love with the characters all over again, so I decided to continue the story now that I had some inspiration. Thank you for reading!
