CHAPTER 22
"Well, looks like you're through with me, huh, Sanaki?" asked Ike as the group finished talking with Sanaki. "It looks like i will be taking my leave now."
" HOLD IT! " Sanaki yelled. "I am definitely not with a capital N-O-T through with you, Ike." Ike then turned around, asking what he had done. Sanaki then answered, saying that he as a nameless common mercenary should not be taken to leadership of the newly formed Crimean Liberation Army.
" WHAT?! " Ike said. "I'm to be noble now?!"
"I will leave you at your personal will." Sanaki said.
"Sanaki! Empress! I mean, apostle, I–doh!" Ike said. "Damn it! Of all the foolish!"
"I'm sorry about this, my lord Ike." Elincia said.
"Princess, nobody understands me anymore…" Ike said. "This is getting me more pissed off than ever!"
"Milord Ike, just calm down." said Elincia.
"What am I supposed to do now?!" Ike asked. "Do a silly dance? Put on a funny hat or something? Huh? WHAT. DO I. DO. NOW?!"
"...Will you…lend me your sword?" Elincia asked Ike. Ike then lent Elincia his Regal Sword, and kneeled down upon Elincia's orders. Elincia then began to sing while casting some sort of magic spell on Ike. He was then made into a Lord for the newly formed Crimean Liberation Army.
"This is so odd." Ike said. "Do I look funny?" asked Ike.
"You look fine, Ike." Sigrun said. "The title of Lord suits you well. Well indeed, that is." Ike then took a bow.
"Thank you." Sanaki said. "Now, Goodbye." The newly commissioned General Ike of the newly formed Crimean Liberation Army leads old and new faces alike into the knife-edged mountains that border Daein and Begnion. Ike's journey to end the Mad King's War as a newly commissioned army general was just about to begin.
As for Ashnard, King of Daein, he was not at all pleased with the fact that Begnion joined forces with Crimea. He was also not pleased with the fact that Ike was leading the army into Daein's grounds. As the Black Knight provided more and more information, Ashnard began to think that the surviving heron laguz and even the king of the hawk clan had gained trust in Greil's son.
"They have indeed gained trust in Gawain's son." the Black Knight said.
"I see. Disappointing indeed." Ashnard said. "Very, very, VERY disappointing."
"So what about the herons?" asked the Black Knight.
"Bring one of those herons to me, and I want that damn medallion!" Ashnard said as he ordered his closest allies.
"Yes sir!" a soldier said.
"Soon, my mission will be complete!" said Ashnard. "Mwahaha!" he later laughed.
"Ashnard, I will not let you do this! My friend! My goomba! My choom Marcia is out there!" said Evelyn the Dark Flier. "Please!"
" SILENCE! " Ashnard hollered. "Those that dare to complain about kidnapping will die with a capital D-I-E! " As Ashnard laughed, Evelyn hoped someone would save her.
When Ike reached the snowy grounds of Daein, he caught the eye of Daein wyvern riders on black wyverns. Thinking that the Kilvas ravens were dangerous foes, Ike questioned Tanith, who joined Ike at the empress' discretion, about the wyvern knights. Tanith then responded, saying that the Pegasus Knights fair well in the skies than wyvern riders do. However, Jill was upset and disappointed.
"What's wrong, Jill?" Ike asked.
"My home… it's not the way it used to be…" Jill said. "They've taken everything away… Even though these wretched schoolteachers taught me how to be so frickin' racist towards the laguz… it's….. It's…" Jill cried.
"Jill, you don't have to be the vanguard here." Ike said. "We have Kamaria and Kito. They can do anything."
"Ike!" Kamaria said. "This was me and Kito's homeland! It's destroyed because of that wretched and damned King Ashnard! I swear I am going to kill him! I SWEAR! "
" EVERYONE! " Ike said. "Calm down! We can win this war if we all stick together as a team! It's called teamwork! Now let's march forth to a surprise attack!"
At the fort, Shinon, who had left the Greil Mercenaries quite some time ago due to Ike's leadership after the death of Commander Greil, was serving as a spy for the Daein army. Commander Petry, the general of the army he was controlling, was using the "sub-human" crows as bait for the army. When Janaff, Ulki, and Reyson saw the crows, they were shocked and disappointed.
" YOU DAMN CROWS! " Janaff yelled. " YOU BETRAYED NOT ONLY YOUR COUNTRY, BUT YOUR ENTIRE LAGUZ SPECIES! YOU ARE NOTHING BUT WORTHLESS PIECES OF SHIT TO THE LAGUZ NOW! JUST GET OUT OF HERE, AND LET THE HAWKS' SCREECHES AND CRIES BE HEARD 'ROUND THE CONTINENT OF TELLIUS! "
"That was too loud of screams." Ulki said.
"Look!" Ross said. "The crows are attacking!"
"Let Crimea March!" Ike hollered.
Midway through the battle, one of Rolf's arrows hit a soldier next to Shinon, Knowing that Rolf had done such a thing, he went to speak with Rolf.
"Shinon…" Rolf said.
"You… sided with the Crimeans all this time?" asked Shinon.
"Lay down your weapon!" Ike said. "We will not–wait, Shinon?" asked Ike.
"Ugh, you again. The lover of pwetty, whittle Pwincess Ewincia." Shinon said with a speech impediment at the end.
"I wanna talk to you when all these soldiers are down." Ike said. "But I'm restraining you for now." Guards later grabbed Shinon and took him back to base.
"Hey!" Petry yelled. "Get them!"
"Stop, please!" Ike said.
"And you are the general of this army?" Petry asked.
"I am." Ike said. "I am the leader of the Crimean Liberation Army. Now… DIE! " he said as he used the technique of the sword given to him by Stefan.
"Gah… messed up… life… right… ugh." Petry later died.
"Well, that was something…" Ike said. "Well, it looks like the troops are retreating. Let's follow them." Ike later headed off to the next location. But as he was marching, water was heard. Thinking someone was in trouble, he and the army went to investigate. The battle was continuing forward.
