Hello, it's been a whiiiiile. I have only two things to blame;

1st, myself

2nd, myself

:/

Until today I had avoided needing to fight in lessons, instead sparring with my team, mainly Jackl, when we both had free time. Sadly, professor Goodwitch noticed I had yet to fight in her class, and chose me specifically to have a match.

Cardin volunteered to be my partner for the match, he said something about me being a "good warmup" but I wasn't really paying attention, I was more focused on a small issue my team and I discovered when we tried to set me up a scroll.

As it turns out, Huntsmen use scrolls to keep track of their aura, aside from their other uses. Any my scroll, no matter how many times we reset it, couldn't pick up my aura.

First, Jackl tried to 'unlock' my aura by bashing his head against mine while having his aura active, I am still thankfull to Griffith for stopping him. Leon then tried to unlock it properly, but after three failed attempts we came to a rather troubling conclusion, and the reason why my blood pressure is currently scyrocketing as I sit in the locker room preparing for the match.

The reason for the scroll not detecting any or unlocking not working is actually rather simple. My aura cannot be unlocked because their is no door to unlock. I have no aura.

I'm pretty sure Jackl already knew this, it was his idea not to tell any faculty. Though I can see why, I already look the part, having any more similarities with the monsters this school teaches it's students to hunt would be... Problematic.

Stepping out into the arena, I immediately noticed the others confused look's, "Mr. Onyx, please remember to sync your scroll with the monitors." I took out my scroll and a few tapps later a bar appeared on the monitor above me, of course, it was fu- wait what? The bar was full, my eyes immediately darted to my team but before I could focus on them my mind was brought back to my match, "very well, begin!"

The mace swung immediately, barely missing my face as I stepped back, raising my weapon in defence. Everything else blurring, I focused on my opponent. He lunged forwards, swinging his mace in an arc for my skull. lurching backwards, I narrowly avoided the blow.

He kept pushing me back, almost toying with me as I defended myself. His attacks where slow compared to Jackl's, but just as hard to avoid.

For a moment everything turned to a blur as I felt the mace connect with my side. He took a wider stance and began to swing again, holding his weapon high above his head.

Despite the pain, I lunged forwards, blindly arcing my axe upwards. Alongside the gasps of shared pain from every other male in the room, my opponent made a sound across between a fire alarm and a guinea pig.

"As you can see, Mr Winchester's aura has dipped into the red. In an official match the victory would go to Mr Onyx."

I made my way back into the changing rooms after Prof. Goodwitch's closing remarks on training and a 'Vital Festival'. After I put away my 'placeholder weapon' as Jackl called it, and began to get changed.

Removing my shirt, I saw red, thick liquid pouring from the open wound in my stomach. Quickly opening the first aid kit in the bottom of my locker, I bandaged myself as best I could. Thankfully, the wound was shallow.

After getting changed, I turned to deal with my bloodied clothes, only to find them completely free of blood, a fine red mist slowly rising from them.

After registering this in my mind under, discuss with team later, I made my way to lunch.

I couldn't find my team. It wasn't too strange, Jackl likes to spar with the two of them whenever possible so he probably rushed them to finish lunch. They should have time before our next lesson, hopefully.

After finishing lunch rather quickly, only being interrupted by a girl's exclamation about someone's legs. Aside from the occasional stare of students that had yet to see me in person, it was quite peaceful.

Aside from the fact that we shared the class with Cardin, I enjoyed Dr. Oobleck's history lectures. Even if it's a tad harder to understand than some of my other lessons.

After his discussion on a topic that seemed quite interesting, however due to his... accelerated way of speaking I only caught every fourth word, Dr. Oobleck asked, "Now, have and among you been discriminated against or subjugated because of your faunus heritage?"

a few students raised their hands, most notably Griffith and Jackl, I had almost forgotten Jackl was faunus. According to his father, Mr. Hyde, Jackl lost his left antler in a grimm attack and the other one when he first discovered explosives. All in the same day. So, now he's almost indistinguishable from a human, aside from the stumps hidden in his hair.

"Dreadful, simply dreadful. Remember students, it is precisely this kind of ignorance that breeds violence." as he spoke, something flashed in my mind.

My dream, I've had it a few times now. though each time it gets shorter. The last was only the image that came to mind.

A great beast, not quite a wolf but neither a bear. A three clawed slash emblazoned in front.

The image sent a shiver down my spine, all semblance of the current season fading for a few moments before returning into a new question.

"Precisely! and, who can tell me the advantage the faunus had over General Lagoon's forces?" "Hey!" A blond haired student spoke out, he seemed to be responding to something done to him by another student, "Mr Arc! finally contributing to class! This is excellent. Excellent! What is the answer?"

The half mumbled reply ended with "Binoculars?", an answer brought on by his team's attempts to help him. Evidently this was wrong as, the entire class erupted into laughter. "Very funny Arc. Cardin! perhaps you could share your thoughts on the subject."

"Well, I know it's much easier to train an animal than a soldier" he was quickly interrupted by a girl in the front row, "You're not the most open minded of individuals are you Cardin?" the bully's face quickly downturned, "What!? You got a problem?" the girl turned back to the class and explained, with added information from a student next to her.

Most faunus have night vision and General Lagoon chose to attack at night. I had zoned out, remembering the experiment Dr Hyde had done to determine if I was a faunus. He locked me in a dark room and told me to find the key he had hidden somewhere. After I sprained my ankle tripping over a coffee table, that the key was on, and a few genetic tests, he determined I wasn't a faunus.

I was brought back to the class when I felt something. Like a presence, looking around I found noone else responding to it. It came clearly off of Cardin, an instinct told me clearly what the sensation was. Rage, jealousy, a small amount of fear. Then it stopped.

"Mr Winchester, please take your seat" Cardin had stood, presumably to respond to something I hadn't heard. Oobleck then spoke with Mr. Arc, referred to as blondy by Jackl, informing him and Cardin they would be joining him after class for "Extra reading"

The rest of the lesson was uneventful, going by almost a blur as I pondered what I felt from Cardin.

Sadly, I also had to sit through Oobleck's lecture as I had extra work to catch up with the rest of the students, the teachers seemed more than happy to provide it.

"History is important gentlemen! If you can't learn from it, you're doomed to repeat it... Pages 51-91! I want an essay on my dest by next class! Now! Move along."

As we left, my side became numb. All sense of direction or balance left me and I fell into darkness.
