Mal stormed into her dorm room she shared with Evie and began hastily throwing things into a suitcase her eyes welling with tears before screaming and throwing the case against the wall scattering clothing everywhere. Evie, who had been in the bathroom came rushing out
"M!? are you alright? Whats gotten into you"
Mal couldn't look at her best friend, how could she tell her they were being basically exiled. Evie walked over and placed a hand on Mal's shoulder gently biting her lip at how Mal flinched much like she used to do before Ben showed her kindness. This caused the bluenette to back away something Mal caught and quickly turned to look at her friend.
"Mal..talk to me.."
Mal lowered her head and collapsed onto the window seat "Ben cheated on me.. with Jane of all people… and I.."
"You what M?" Evie asked softly as she took a seat beside the teen.
"I didn't…hurt them.. but.. I wanted to.. I could feel it burning inside of me but I just.. left."
"M, I'm glad you didn't hurt anyone, and I'm glad you left.. but.. something else has you mad"
Mal turned to Evie with a pained look in her eyes " He said…we were being sent away…"
Evie tensed herself and a flash of fear crossed her eyes "Like..away..away?" she stammered but Mal quickly took Evie's hands and shook her head "No.. but.. someplace near shere khans jungle…"
Evie's eyes widened and her mouth dropped "are.. you sure about this? Surely it isn't true" but the look on her best friends face told her all she needed to know. Evie took Mal's hand and smiled softly "We will get through this together, like we always have"
"I'm going back to the Isle E…" Mal said quietly looking at her hands this caused Evie to stand up from her spot "Mallory Bertha! Are you insane! Do you have any idea what will happen if you go back there?!" Evie exclaimed as she backed away. "Harry, Josh.. Zevon… your parents! They are all there on that island waiting and plotting! How could you be so stupid!"
Mal gasped and looked at Evie and stood up "I have to.. I have never belonged here and I never will and Ben showed me that today, Evie.. I'm sorry" she reached out to take the bluenettes hand in hers but Evie pulled back and tears pricked the corners of her eyes "I can never forgive this Mal.. and neither will Jay and Carlos" she glared slightly before shaking her head and leaving the room leaving Mal alone once again.
Mal tried to stop Evie but let her hand drop to her side as tears sprung to her eyes, she turned to continue packing when she heard footsteps and turned to see Jay and Carlos standing there with disapproving looks on their faces.
"Evie told you…didn't she"
"No.. she didn't get the chance, Jane told me and then I told Jay and now here we are"
"To talk some sense into you Mal" Jay chimed in after Carlos and walked over to his friend he crossed his arms "remove your jacket Mal"
Mal turned to Jay and bit her lip hesitantly, pulling on the sleeve of the jacket she constantly wore "why?"
"You know why.. now take it off"
Mal lowered her gaze and slowly pulled the jacket off of her while Carlos took her gently by the hand and led her to the stand up mirror his eye twitching as he looked at the same image the three would be seeing.
Mal glanced up at the mirror, seeing the scars on her arms from years of harsh treatment on the Isle. She flinched as Jay ran his thumb over a particular circular mark just above her wrist "you sure you want to go back to this?" he asked in a soft voice as he looked at Mal through the mirror seeing the pain and fear in her eyes. Mal backed away and put her jacket back on quickly
"If it keeps you Carlos and Evie here and not banished to the jungle… then yes.. I will do whatever it takes to keep you all safe"
"Mal stop. We aren't kids anymore, the dangers are all on the Isle and you do not have to protect us like you tried doing on the Isle" Jay said firmly.
"Jane explained to me that it isn't true anyway, we aren't being sent away it was just a tactic to.. get away from you" Carlos said quietly.
Mal felt her anger and her hurt flair again as she clenched her fist and punched it into her other hand "so.. Ben and Jane..felt I would harm them when I found out? They think so little of me that they really thought I was going to go full on dragon on them?!" she snapped before chuckling and shaking her head "Fine. Consider me.. gone" and with that Mal vanished in a purple cloud of smoke leaving Carlos and Jay in the now empty room. Jay went to leave but Carlos pulled his arm to stop him
"So that's it? We're just going to let Mal go to the Isle for her to be constantly abused if not killed?!"
Jay sighed "she made her choice, we need to move on from this Carlos.. she's to far gone" he said firmly hiding his own anger as he pulled his arm away and left the room.
"But.. she's family…" Carlos whispered before looking at the empty room and following Jay out.
Meanwhile Ben stood in front of the mirror in his room while Lumiere and some others brushed the tangles out of his new furry form. "one would think you've done this before…" he spoke angrily and growled when a tangle was brushed out.
"your father was a Beast for many years.. but in due time he learned his lesson" Lumiere spoke gently. Ben sighed and looked at the mirror "yeah.. but he was almost to late and he knew what his lesson was"
"and when Jane and Fairy godmother get here, you will as well" Belle said softly as she stood in her son's doorway. Lumiere and the others bowed their heads respectfully to Belle who politely dismissed them. She walked over to her son and placed a hand on his cheek "you know your fathers story, you know how it ended.. and how it could have been, why would you lie to Mal like that?"
Ben looked into his mothers eyes "I just.. I don't know.. Villains and Heroes can't be together.. I mean, you don't see heroes and villains getting together getting married and having children in Auradon!" he roared but the look on his mothers face was not an approving one. Belle stood up and rested her hands at her side "this is exactly why you are failing your classes.."
"Being King and going to school is hard-work! Harder then other people!" Ben shouted as he stood up and growled "Jane had no right to curse me like this! I didn't do anything wrong! I just couldn't be with a villain.. its not right"
"Then you have a lot to learn, and lets hope for your sake.. this curse isn't a permanent one" Belle said firmly "you will leave for corona after our talk with Jane and Fairy Godmother, come down to the meeting room in five minutes" she said gently before walking out of the room.
Jane sat in her chair beside her mother "I didn't even know I could do that mom.. I swear"
"Its going to be alright, but.. because you cursed him you need to give him a reason and also… a deadline so to speak" Fairy godmother spoke cheerily.
"A.. deadline? Like.. the whole if you don't kiss the girl in three days you'll be doomed forever kind of deadline?"
Fairy godmother chuckled and looked at her daughter "think of King Adam's story dear child, like you learned in your Fairytale curses class"
Jane bit her lip as she thought back on the class before nodding, she opened her mouth to speak just as the doors opened and Belle and Adam walked in.
"Adam, Belle.. lovely to see you both as always" Fairy godmother said gently as she nudged her daughter slightly.
"Oh.. hi your Majesties, hows Ben?" Jane asked curiously and a tad to quickly.
Belle and Adam looked at each other and back at Jane and FG
"Nice to see you as well Fairy godmother, and Ben is going to be just fine Jane" Belle said as they all took their sound of crashing and staff calling out caused the group to look towards the door as Ben walked in, Jane gasped softly seeing what she had done and quickly stood up "Ben I… I'm so so sorry.." she exclaimed with wide eyes but Ben raised a paw and growled as he sat down in between his parents.
"Lets get started then shall we.." Fairy godmother said with a clearing of her throat to which the group nodded. FG conjured a large book on the table and flipped through some pages before conjuring a feathered quill pen and held it out to Jane.
"Jane your great grandmother, the Enchantress is the one who placed the beast curse on Adam all those years ago.. when you were born, the abilities of the Enchantress were passed down to you and thus.. a significant dilemma has occurred and you unknowingly placed the curse on Ben" she explained and sighed as Jane took the Pen with a shaky hand. "Jane, with this pen you will write your reasoning and the lesson that you feel Ben needs to learn to break this curse… along with.. what will happen if he fails to learn said lesson"
"WHAT!?" Ben roared angrily knocking over his chair as he stood up.
"Benjamin! Settle down!" Belle spoke firmly before giving her husband a look.
"No! You mean to tell me I'm meant to learn some lesson to break this stupid curse that your equally stupid daughter placed on me and if I don't… SHE gets to decide the consequences?! are you all insane! All I did was break up with a Villain! A person who should have never been given the chance to be here in the first place! As King I was and am thinking of my kingdom!" The sound of a fist slamming down on the table got everyone's attention, Jane looked ready to cry as she put down the pen.
"Benjamin Florian Rogers, bringing those children here was your idea! And Mal and her friends showed their loyalties and in turn betrayed their own parents which means they could be killed if they were sent back to the Isle has this not occurred to you?!" Adam shouted at his son
"Your as heartless as I was at your age… but the difference is I didn't have good parents who taught me from a young age what kindness was.. you have NO Excuse!" he snapped before looking at Fairy godmother and Jane "give him his lesson and how long he has to do so… and his consequence shall he fail…"
Jane looked at her mother and then at Ben and picked up the quill pen, writing the words in the book, each word glowing as it was embedded into the pages sealing Ben's fate. Jane hesitated and glanced at Ben again, his eyes were so angry and he looked ready to leap across the table and attack like a wild animal. She took a deep breath and wrote the rest before placing the pen down beside the book. "I.. did it and feel its what needs to be learned mom"
Fairy godmother looked at the book, and her eyes widened as she looked at Jane
"Jane.. are..I don't think…" she stammered.
"What did she write?" Ben growled softly as Belle placed a hand on her son's paw and looked at Fairy godmother. Fairy godmother sighed as the book spoke in the voice of the Enchantress within
"the Kings heart is filled with distrust and anger, he has shown no sense of compassion or care for others and to that I, Jane Olivia Robynson place the curse of the Beast on you. Your lesson is a simple one young King, you must learn to have compassion and care for all parts of the kingdom. For there is no Evil or good.. everyone has both inside, Until you learn compassion and make the greatest sacrfice of all.. you shall remain a Beast until your 25th birthday. If you fail to do so in that time…. you will be stuck as a beast for all eternity…and you will relinquish your crown to one more deserving of taking your place. Let this curse be known" the book shouted the final sentence before falling silent.
"Wait.. give up my crown? You have got to be kidding me!" Ben snapped before sitting back and crossing his arms " and I do have compassion.. compassion for Heroes" he scoffed.
"Thank you Jane.. and thank you fairy godmother, at least now.. we have a deadline" Belle said gently before looking at her son "you'd best get ready, the limo leaves for Corona soon"
Ben rolled his eyes and left the room angrily causing Belle and Adam to look at one another and back at Jane and Fairy godmother "what is this sacrifice.. and who.. is more deserving of ruling Auradon?" Adam asked cautiously.
Jane looked at her mother and shook her head "Time will tell your Majesty.. but.. I wouldn't let Evie,Mal, Jay or Carlos go anywhere… they are important but that's all I can say" she said softly before quickly leaving with her mother.
Belle bit her lip "we have to figure out whats gotten into our Son.."
Adam pulled Belle into a tight hug "everything will be alright, he needs to learn that there are always consequences to his actions.. and we know he loves Mal more than anything else.. he would do anything for her if she were in trouble"
Belle sighed and nodded gently "I hope so…and I hope it doesn't take 25 years"
