A/N: Read the bottom, important details.
It starts with a wish, or not truly a wish.
It always does, any good story starts with the main character wishing for something. Maybe it's beyond their grasp, or maybe it's because of love, but at the end of the day a wish and the hope that our hard work can reach that wish is what keeps us going.
Or it can lead us to our grave. An early one for many.
Wanna break from the a-
"No," I interrupt my line of thought as a bit of rain entered my windpipe, once it was cleared, I continued, "I don't want a break from the fucking ads, I'm gonna fucking die."
Yup, in the midst of watching a cut power line edge closer and closer to the puddle of water that's gathering around me, I lay while my blood, being weirdly helpful in its attempt to kill me despite its supposed job to keep me alive, intermingles with the puddle that came from the downpour. The same downpour that caused a car to hydroplane into me, sending my ass flying in a way I'd laugh about if I wasn't inches away from dying.
"Heh, my bitchass went flying. Heh. Hehehehe-ow!" I couldn't help laughing, before my body protested the action.
What was supposed to be a late-night walk was my biggest mistake. I rarely check the weather when going out but this walk was going to be a long one until it began to rain. Add in a drunk driver, a fallen power line and now you have the situation I'm in.
And my phone…Who could I even call? My mom whose heart would break at the situation? A sibling who would drop everything to try and help me only to find a corpse cooked crispy with electricity and water? Or a friend?
Yet, I couldn't. I jumped and groaned as a spark landed in the puddle and interrupted my thoughts.
No, it's not like I couldn't…
I wanted it all to end. I didn't want the pressure of being the youngest who had all these expectations placed on him, I didn't want to see my parents sad should I fail. Yet I also didn't want to just die.
Sadly, that choice was no longer in my hands; the sparks were getting closer.
Sparks. Electricity. A beautiful thing. It reminds me of one of my oldest memories. Around 2010, in a cold basement watching my brother play InFamous and having no idea what's going on, only that a guy with lightning powers was cool.
As a veteran of the internet, I know most tropes that go with fanfics. A common one is the evasion of 'grimdark' series like Attack on Titan or Tokyo Ghoul or Warhammer 40k, though that last one is up for debate since I never dabbled into the Warhammer fandom.
It was at that moment that the sparking power line got closer that I was able to dredge up some fight. My hand grabbed the earth as I pulled, trying my best to-
A sense of vertigo overtook me as I yelled when the power line began to fly from a particular strong gust of wind, keeping it there while the rain kept on pounding down. My heart fell along with the power line as it dipped into the water.
Do you ever get the feeling when everything falls into place? Not in a 'that makes sense' but in a 'fuck me, so its like that?' Kinda way.
Ok, so imagine that, but with deja vu. That's what I was feeling at that moment. And pain, oh way too much pain as every nerve lit up.
Something happened, as the feeling of deja vu increased to a crescendo, before everything seemed to contort and right itself. Granted, what I felt can't be put into words but the words chosen were the best I could describe it as.
There was a lot of contortion as space, time, and so much seemed to move, shift and finally break as the pain stopped for a second, when I next opened my eyes, to was to see a familiar face looking down on me with warm brown eyes and a tanned smile, a car driving away as everything all seemed to coalesce into a single thing.
The first day. It was also the day where many firsts happened. The first worst day, the first best day, and the day I became a parahuman.
No, the day I became a conduit at the prodding of a multidimensional being.
A/N: Umm, hi. It's been a while. For anyone who's new, welcome. I am an irresponsible author who has no sense of responsibility. If you already know the drill, welcome back.
Now, I've been busy, I'm in university and all that and I've been very sad. I also got my TV, PlayStation, and Switch robbed over Christmas break. I also got a D for two classes that are prerequisites for my major so now I have to repeat them. Anyway, I've also gotten into reading Worm fan fictions while eyeing the original in the same way one would a biblically accurate angel. In fear, awe, and general unwillingness to get close out of fear of divine punishment.
Anyway, I've mostly posted this since the pull was too strong and decided to do so so I can get a bit of feedback before delving into the lion's mouth by reading the original.
Now, is this the final product? No. Well, not really, see I'm currently trying to finalize the idea and the thoughts of the readers would be appreciated. Hell, I haven't even decided if I'm going with a crossover with InFamous despite my absolute love for the game(Second Son is good but the original still checks out).
So, I have a few ideas to air out. None of them are good. I swear I disgust myself with how self-indulgent I am. On another note, here are the ideas:
-InFamous x Worm
-Fate Series x Worm(See: Babysitter of Heroes to get an idea of the plan.)
-Sliver(Magic: the Gathering) x Worm
-Biblical Entity(Specifically entities like Demons or maybe Fallen Angels) x Worm
-Class Cards x Worm
-Soulknife OC x Worm
-Rune Magic(Pathfinder) x Worm
Now which one stand out? Clearly its the fact that the fate series is mentioned twice.
In all reality, I'm just going to post this and try to figure out the Worm series while trying to come up with an idea. Once that happens, don't be surprised if this entire chapter is revamped or replaced.
Anyway, expect an update on Sword among Shadows and then something new, possibly, and more before this is even touched again. Until then, good luck.
