The three rainbow friends hurried down the spiral stone steps as the castle crumbled overhead. Orange guiding the other two to the cell near the very back where purple laid on a pile of straw, dressed in a leather black and gray rouge's attire with a stylish hood and a black robber's mask over his eyes.

"Purple?" Said Blue, he and Green stood outside the cell while Orange went to fetch the keys.

"Guys!" Said Purple in relief. "Am I happy happy to see you!"

Orange returned a moment later with the keys, fumbling through them before inserting the correct one to free Purple.

Suddenly the ceiling overhead shook and was on the near verge of crumbling. "If we don't get out of here soon we're gonna be buried under several tons of rubble!" Stated Blue. "Let's roll to find a way outta here!"

Each of the friends took their 20 sided dies and rolled:

Blue: 15

Green: 17

Purple: 10

Orange: 10

A piece of the ceiling collapsed in front of them, knocking Green off his feet, making him grab a nearby torch holster for balance, which shifted in his grasp and activated a hidden mechanism, causing a secret doorway to open nearby leading to a staircase going down into darkness.

"Green! Looks like you've found us a way out!" Exclaimed Blue, grabbing a lit torch. "C'mon!"

The group followed Blue down the passage before the dungeon along with the entire castle came crashing down.

The group went down into the abyss, leading into an underground tunnel. Blue lighting the way, "Stay close guys." He said to the others.

Orange walked alongside Purple, who wasn't even looking at him, spitefully.

"Uh, Purple…" he spoke, "About what happened…"

"Green, tell Orange I'm not talking to him. Not after what he did."

"Oh come on Purple! I had to have you locked up to look good in front of my subjects."

"Tell Orange if he cares more about being king than being a friend then why doesn't he just live here? Never mind getting back to the play place and return to human form again!"

"Well… you were the one trying to steal their gold! It was only fair!"

"I don't wanna get wrapped up in this." Muttered Green.

"Guys! Focus!" Cried Blue, "We'll never get anywhere if we turn on each other like this. So can we PLEASE try and get along?"

He suddenly stopped, everyone halting behind him, when they came upon four passages along with a sign saying, 'Beware the mimics'.

"What's a mimic?" Asked a puzzled Orange.

A scroll suddenly appeared before Blue, he read. "You and your party have come upon the entrance to the treacherous Labyrinth. Enter at your own risk but beware of the beasts and traps that reside within. Looks like we're gonna have to split up."

"Split up?" Said Green in disbelief. "But what if we run into any monsters?"

"C'mon Green, aren't you worried about White?"

Green was silent, reluctantly choosing a passage as the others did the same. Like that the quartet separated.

Meanwhile, Red watched the heroes from his crystal ball.

"So they've escaped the crumbling castle, no matter. They'll never be able to find their way through the labyrinth. But… just to be on the safe side."

He waved his staff over the ball to cast a spell, filling it with green smoke.

Green blindly navigated his way through the labyrinth corridor alone, the sound of his squeaky footsteps echoing off the walls.

As scared as he was he knew he had to pull through, for White and to find a way home.

Taking a deep breath, he bravely pulled forward.

"I wonder how everyone else is holding up?" He thought to himself, turning a corner.

A faint sound reached his ears from a distance, it sounded like someone weeping in frightful hopelessness. A monster? All of Green's senses told him to walk away but that was when a familiar voice called out.

"Green! Is that you! I hear your footsteps!"

"White?!" Hurriedly, the blind Paladin dashed towards the direction of the voice. Eager to rescue his beloved. "Keep talking! I'm coming for you!"

Meanwhile.

Orange scampered the corridor of the maze, nervously itching at his chin under his new beard. Unfortunately, nerves triggered his appetite; even though he just ate earlier, his hunger seemed to be getting worse with each step.

"Ohh…" he complained, "so hungry…What I wouldn't give for a snack right now."

Suddenly he looked down to see what appeared to be a fresh, discarded, drumstick with the meat still on.

"Oh yeah baby! Come to papa!"

He bent down to pick it up only for it to inch away from his grasp.

"What?"

He moved after it only for it to inch away again.

"Hey!"

Next he knew he went full speed, comedically chasing after the bit of food before him.

"Get back here!" He growled, all senses giving way to hunger.

Green listened intently for White's voice, following every direction he could.

"Green!" She called from his left, "You came!"

"White?" Green turned towards the source of her voice. "Oh thank heavens you're okay!"

"I escaped from Red but got lost in this maze. Then I fell and hurt my ankle and now I can't get up, please won't you help me?"

"Of course! Always!" Green crept closer to her trustfully.

"Oh I knew you would…"

He suddenly stopped midway, something in the tone of her voice suddenly sounded… off.

"What's wrong Green?"

It sounded like her, yet for a minute it seemed croaky and almost monstrous. "Is… there something wrong with your voice?"

"Whatever do you mean?"

"There! You don't… sound right?" He took a hesitant step back.

"Green… you aren't gonna leave me here are you? We've been friends since high school haven't we?"

That caught his attention, if this wasn't White then how would it have known about their time in high school? Green inched closer to her, reaching out a hand.

"Please Green… help me."

He was about to take her hand when a shout stopped him. "GREEN! NO!" Something tall and wiry impacted the blind rainbow friend, tackling him to the ground.

"Purple?!"

"Green, whatever you may think, that thing is NOT White!"

The shapeless creature with White's voice let out a hissing screech as it made to jump the two, black tentacles tipped with sharpened blades shot out of its body at them. They dodged; Purple took out a pair of dual blades and his 20 sided dice.

"I roll to strike back!"

He rolled and landed on a 13. The beast made to grab him but he leapt upward with his weapons, slicing off one of its tentacles then striking the demon across it's face, doing considerable damage.

"Green! What do you have to bring to the table?"

"I only have a shield, all I can do is defend."

"Well just keep 'em off me while I do damage."

"Heee-ya!" Cried Blue as he lashed out at three creatures in the guise of treasure chests, mimics he assumed they were, with his sword. Gathering coins and a potion of healing that fell out from each of them and gaining enough points to surpass from level 2 to 3 and seamlessly to level 4.

"Heck yeah, whose da man!" He celebrated confidently. Watching his points go up.

He then heard panting somewhere only to see Orange running by after a dragging chicken leg on a wire, "come back here you!" The lizard cried out.

"Orange?" Said Blue concerned. He could tell that the hungry reptile was running into a trap so he ran after him. Though his bulky frame could barely able to keep up with his friend's speed, but he could follow the dino tracks left in the ground.

A pleasant aroma filled the air. It was a mouth watering smell of cooked meat and potatoes like you would smell at a barbecue.

Finally Orange caught up with the drumstick, "Gotcha!" He cried triumphantly gobbling down the morsel. That was when he looked up to see a spectacular sight before him.

A large tray containing two dishes, one with a large, medium rare, steak and a rack of ribs the other stacked with steaming, golden brown, baked potatoes. Orange's eyes lit up at the sight, drool seeping from his maw.

Blue managed to catch up with speedy Orange to find him standing before the decadent meal… which sat in the mouth of an enormous mimic that was baiting in the small lizard.

"Orange! Stop!"

But Orange, bewildered by his luck and starving, pounced at the feast before him. He was in the midst of chowing down when a huge upper jaw with sharp fangs chomped down, swallowing Orange whole.

Blue knew he had to save him, he took out his dice. "I roll to save Orange!" He announced, rolling an 11 before leaping into action with his sword, delivering a harsh blow to the large mimic, not much to defeat it but enough to do damage.

"Cough him up you rejected fedex package!" He shouted, admittedly his insult wasn't very well thought out.

The shapeless beast was only halfway defeated. Purple could only do so much with his dual blades while Green did all he could to defend the both of them, his shield looking worse for wear.

"Gah!" Grunted Purple, "we're givin' this thing all we got!"

"I don't think I can keep defending for much longer."

The creature struck Green's shield once more, breaking it with a single blow.

"Looks like all that's left is to run." Suggested Purple. "Book it!"

The two ran for it, thankfully the monster was too slow to run after them and it's tentacles weren't long enough to reach for them.

They hurriedly ran through various twists and turns, as far as possible from the monster, as soon as they were far enough they stopped to catch their breath.

"Man… that was too close.." panted Purple.

Their points suddenly appeared above their heads; Purple: +5 pts, Green +6 pts.

Then a scroll appears before them and purple picked it up to read:

"You've managed to escape the shapeshifter with your lives and gained points for your efforts. However, because you've chosen to run, your points will be deducted by two…"

Purple: -2pts

Green: -2pts

"Oh come on!" But it didn't end there, Purple continued. "And because Lord Green had his weapon break in battle, he loses an extra point."

Green: -1 pt

"Seriously?" Said Green angrily.

The sound of a nearby struggle suddenly caught their attention.

Meanwhile, Blue rolled a 19, giving him the advantage to defeat the large mimic, its lid falling off with a thud before its body vanished, leaving behind several coins, Orange, who was thankfully still alive yet covered with slime, a shield with magic resistance, and a glowing key.

"Orange! Are you okay?" Said Blue, running up to his friend.

"Blegh, YUCK!" Groaned Orange in disgust, wiping off the slime. "There goes my appetite."

"Blue! Orange! Is that you?" Cried Green's voice from a nearby passage.

"Green! Purple!" Said Blue, "glad to see you guys are alright! But where's your shield Green?"

"It's a long story." Replied Green.

"Well why don't you take this one?" Blue offered the new shield that fell when he defeated the large mimic to Green, who gladly took it.

"Hey guys…" spoke Orange, picking up the glowing key, "What's this key to?"

At those words, they key suddenly shown and warped into a portal. The friends stared in astonishment at the spectacle when a scroll appeared before Blue, who read:

"You have found the portal key that will take you out of the labyrinth and into the malevolent swamp. Proceed? Heck yeah! Let's get out of here guys!"

One by one the quartet hopped into the portal to freedom.

Red watched the rainbow friends made their way to the swamp through his crystal ball, "Blast! How did they escape the labyrinth?" He cursed loudly, "No matter, with my vast intellect and magical capabilities they won't stand a chance! I'm ready for you Rainbow Friends!"

He laughed maniacally, his laugh echoing off the cave walls and ceiling.
