Thanks to Galfin on AO3 for inspiring me to make a full fic out of this.
Fair warning, most of the words in this chapter are describing the fankids and such, but I figured it was important information to establish before we get into the meat of the fic.
Little Azura Noceda was described by many as a perfect combination of her two beloved mothers. Her hair and skin tones were halfway between Luz and Amity's, she had Amity's gold eyes but Luz's soft smile. And of course, her ears were somewhat pointed but had a curve to them. Just like Luz, Azura studied all types of magic at Hexside, but Like Amity she had specific proficiency in abominations.
Also, her personality had traits of both moms, with Amity-like determination and Luz-like excitement. And today she was in a very Luz-like mood, running to her regular lunch table at Hexside as fast as possible.
"You're not gonna believe what happened yesterday!"
Her cousins and friends at the table looked at Azura with a smile.
"Did Aunt Luz finally perfect Abuela's soup recipe?" asked her cousin Luna Noceda, the first naturally-born basilisk in centuries. She was currently in her human form, with tan skin, black hair, brown eyes, and a mixed illusion-beastkeeping-oracle uniform. Her natural form had teal scales, as well as the same hair and human-like eyes she had now. She had a somewhat timid personality, yet shared her Nini's love for tarot cards.
"Oh, I wish." Azura's mouth watered while thinking of Camila's delicious sancocho. "But no. So I found this picture of Grom from the first summer my Mami was here and then she started telling me the story of her journey here!"
"That's it?" asked her cousin Julie Blight, Emira's daughter. She had dark green hair and purple eyes, and studied the illusion and healing tracks. Personality-wise, she was aloof and snarky but always well-meaning. "I thought it would be something more exciting. That stuff's in all the history books."
"Yeah, but it's better fresh from the source!" said Hal Porter. He had the same skin tone as his father Gus, dark brown eyes, and medium brown hair with purple streaks. He studied illusion, abomination, potion, and bard magic, and hoped to be a Human Realm ambassador one day.
"Yeah! Firsthand accounts are the best!" shouted another one of Azura's friends, Dratina Brae-Maki.
"Tell us! Tell us!" exclaimed Melody, their sister.
Dratina and Melody were Skara and Viney's children. Dratina had dark skin that's just a little lighter in tone than Skara's, olive eyes, and Viney's brown hair. They studied all the tracks except for oracle. Melody meanwhile had Caucasian skin that's a little darker than Viney's, gray eyes, and Skara's brown hair. Like Skara, Melody exclusively studied bard magic. The two siblings shared their mothers' love of Flyer Derby, and planned to start their own team one day.
"I've literally never heard any of it from a direct witness," said Syl Daxony, an adorable cat-like demon who's the only one of the friend group unrelated to Azura's parents or their friends. He was one of many young Boiling Isles residents who grew up practically worshiping Luz Noceda, so being friends with Azura was a dream come true. He currently studied beastkeeping and plant magic, but was open to trying more in the future.
"Alright, you're gonna love this story!" Azura paused for a moment. "Well, a small part of the story." She glanced around the table somewhat nervously. "There was… uh… only so much we could get through in one afternoon…"
"Hey, it's fine," said Peony Park, Willow and Hunter's eldest child. She had blond hair, purple eyes, and studied the plant and construction tracks. She shared Willow's love of plants and Hunter's love of animals.
"Maybe we can all come over to your house to hear the rest of the story!" said her younger brother Lobo. He had dark blue hair, magenta eyes like Hunter originally had, and also inherited Hunter's adorable tooth gap. He studied healing and beastkeeping magic, and planned on one day being a Palisman carver like his father.
"Ooh, that's a great idea! The more the merrier" said Azura. "Anyway, apparently Mami's big adventure all started with her book report…"
The first five "episodes" will just be Luz retelling them to Azura, but after that there'll be more people involved.

Emira's spouse isn't a canon character, who they are ultimately isn't important.
As for Gus, I've always been pretty neutral toward the Gus/Matt ship (I'm not enthusiastic about it but I don't dislike it either), so I'm gonna do Gus/Matt/Bria just to make things more interesting.
