A Whole New Ball Game
A small island appears. It is unfamiliar, smaller than Camp Wawanakwa, about 3 miles by 2 miles. Pretty small. At the very front of the island there is a stretch of sandy beach and shore. Beyond the sand, on the east side, there is an open space with two campsites set up near each other. Each one has three tents and not much else. Behind these campsites is a long stretch of stairs leading up and up to the highest point on the island: a small lookout circle that leads to nowhere, it just drops down into the water below. Behind that is a small forest. West of the campsites is a small stream with a little bridge that leads into another open area where two wooden tables are set up across from each other, with a small wooden shack in the back. West of that are a few trees and then a small open area in front of a lake by the western shore. The lake is nicely sized, with the same stream of water leaving it on bottom right corner and a bigger stretch of water, a small river, leaving its upper right side to the other end of the island. On the west side of the river behind the lake, there is a fire pit and podium in front of 7 stumps of wood, with a piece of square shaped metal on the ground off to the side by the edge. On the east side of the river is the forest that stretches to the other side. There is a small cave behind the forest, at the northeast side of the island, and a small open space behind the forest on the northern part of the island. This is it, the new designated space for this season of Total Drama!
As scenes of each part of the island are shown, we hear a familiar voice, but not that of Chris McLean. "Welcome to Underrated Island. A quaint, unheard of island off the coast of West Canada." The voice speaks in a calm, somewhat forced manner. "It is here where we will bring back fourteen of the most underrated players Total Drama has seen. So far. These fourteen lucky competitors will be competing for 500,000 Canadian dollars!" We see the campsites again. "They will be forced to live in minimal conditions, with minimal supplies, and minimal food!" The voice gets less manufactured and more real as there are cuts to a rabbit hopping in the camp only to be whisked away by an eagle, a snake hissing at a bear near the cave in the back woods, and two alligators kissing by the river. When the alligators notice the camera they stop and one blushes while the other starts to whistle.
"And when I say minimal food, I mean minimal." He says as we see freshly manicured tanned hands neatly putting together a small plate of a piece of bread with butter, a spoonful of refried beans and two green peas.
"These fourteen players will be forced to undergo an experience like no other, with a host like no other! This, is Total, Drama, Underrated!" We finally see the man himself. Chef! Standing on the sands of Underrated Island in his usual getup. His light olive green shirt and army green pants, white apron and chef hat still on, despite being this season's host. "What?!" He stares at the camera, unibrow wrinkled up and mustache freshly shaped for the occasion. "I'm underrated too!"
Chef stood on the beach, watching as a big boat approached the shore. "Here come our fourteen unlucky maggots- I mean con-tes-tants." He clears his throat. "They have no idea what they signed up for." As they each jumped off the boat and onto the sand, he introduced them.
"From Total Drama Adventure: The fried chicken loving, color green obsessed, Janet." The short, thick pale freckled girl with light brown eyes smiled and waved before tripping and falling face first into the sand. As she got up, she spit out sand and shook some out of her brown hair, that was in two pigtails and had neon green highlights in them down past her shoulders. She had on her bright green t-shirt and a matching pair of bright green short shorts. Same bright green sneakers and bright green bracelet on her wrist.
"From Total Drama Adventure: The team player, Joshua." The tall, dark skinned boy with green eyes stepped off the boat. He was wearing his signature blue and white baseball uniform and carried a duffel bag with him. He looked like he had been working out a lot since TDA. He wasn't bald this time either, he had a short black shaped up buzz cut.
"From Total Drama Seasons: the cocky street artist, Lesley." The tall, bald and big muscular young man winked his dark brown eyes and flexed his left arm, showing off the large black tribal tattoo on it. He wore a plain white tank top stained with multiple colors of paint, 2 gold chains and 3 silver chains, black baggy jeans, and black skater shoes. He carried his backpack in his right arm.
"From Total Drama Seasons: Stephan's 14 turned 15 year old baby sister, Janae." Janae glared at Chef. The short (4'11") asian girl with brown eyes under black rimmed glasses and jet black hair opened her mouth to say something but got pushed out of the way by the next person in line. She got up from the sand and glared back as she patted herself down. She wore a dark red button up shirt with blue jeans and white sneakers.
"From Total Drama Adventure: The hyper, borderline crazy, Sandy." The girl rose her hand to object, but was rushed out of the way. She had a skinny build with big hips, light brown skin and beautiful brown eyes. She had long, wavy brown hair in a pony tail with a neon blue bow. She wore her black top with 'Crazy is my Left' in neon blue on it, black skinny jeans and white sneakers. Instead of falling onto the sand, she ducked and rolled and got up without a lick of sand on her.
"From Total Drama Adventure AND Total Drama Holiday: Derrik, who thinks he's a ladies man." Derrik winked his blue eyes and flexed his muscles. He had smooth skin, brown luscious hair that was split in the middle, and a nice tan, a nice built body and a nice white smile. He had a white shirt on that hugged his muscles, ripped skinny jeans and white sneakers.
"He's Total Drama Adventure's first boot, the pipsqueak who let his running mouth get him into trouble, Micky." The short white boy wasn't thrilled at his intro line. Annoyed, he crossed his arms. He rolled his blue eyes and scoffed. He had blonde hair and wore an olive green sweater, blue jeans and red sneakers.
"From Total Drama Seasons: The popular, but sweet, Colleen." The skinny green-eyed girl with fair skin and reddish brown hair tied up in a ponytail with a green bow hopped off the boat. She wore a purple dress with a green collar that stopped at the thighs. On it was an aqua tie and she wore an opened green sweater. Under it she wore black yoga pants and black knee high boots.
"From Total Drama Holiday: famous on the inter webs, fanfiction writer Eun." The five foot tall, petite Korean girl excitedly waved and smiled and jumped off the boat. She flipped her shortish shaggy black hair with fresh blue tips (instead of green) around and opened her light brown eyes wide at the other contestants that were there. She squealed and rubbed on her red heart necklace before grabbing the pencil from on top of her ear and scribbling in the notebook in her other hand. She wore a purple t-shirt, blue pants and brown sandals.
"From Total Drama Seasons: The misunderstood, the Italian, the Lolicon? It's Luigi." The tall, thin, lanky pale boy with a small pencil mustache stepped off the boat, watching each step. His shaggy black hair went to the middle of his neck and his green eyes were baggy. He wore all black: a black beret, large black shirt, black pants, stylish black boots, all under a black cloak. He wore white gloves. He nodded at his fellow contestants, then got heart eyes after spotting Janae. Then, after spotting Eun, he got even bigger heart eyes.
"Maybe she took singing lessons before coming here, and hopefully she's on her meds. From Total Drama Adventure and Total Drama Holiday: it's Asandra." The short, well built white girl stopped humming and softly smiled and waved. Her short black hair was in a bob and she wore a lilac top, blue skinny jeans and blue heels. She sat on the edge of the boat and slid off onto the sand.
"From Total Drama Adventure and Total Drama Holiday: Miss not so goody two shoes, Grace." The short, skinny, light skinned girl sat on the edge of the boat. She wore black flats, a long, light blue skirt, and a short sleeved white collared shirt. She had brown eyes and loose brown hair with blonde highlights down to the middle of her back. She wore a dark blue headband. She slid off the side of the boat and gave a small smile before joining the others.
"Also joining us is the quiet writer from Total Drama Adventure, Brendan." The tall, tanned, well built Brendan stepped off onto the sand. His gazed his dark blue eyes at the rest of the competition and politely smiled as he ran his fingers through his short brown hair. He had on a green t-shirt with black sunglasses hanging off the collar, blue jeans and black converse sneakers. In his other hand he had a small notepad and a pencil.
"And finally, our designated villain… The criminal pyromaniac from Total Drama Holiday, Ignatius." Ominous music played as the well built white guy with brown eyes, mustache and goatee and black dreadlocks stepped to the edge of the boat. His presence made multiple people uncomfortable, notably Grace, Eun and Brendan. He wore an orange tank top, khaki pants with a grey belt and black shoes. He picked a finger in his right ear, which was studded with a small earring, and then lit a match and threw it towards Brendan's notepad. Brendan gasped and pulled it out of the way just in time.
Chef looked at the camera, slightly annoyed. "I don't like him either, but we needed at least one of his character type." He then addressed this seasons 14 contestants. "Listen up!" They all looked pretty confused.
Eun raised her hand. "Uh… Chef? Where's Chris?"
"I SAID LISTEN UP!" Chef yelled in her face, causing her to shut up and nod. "Chris isn't here. He's off the map, settling some… Business. This time around, the host is yours truly."
"So you mean to tell me that you're going to be running the challenges?" Lesley asked.
"And the elimination ceremonies?" Micky asked.
"That's what I just said!" Chef said. "Any more stupid questions?!"
Eun raised her hand again. "So… Who's going to be making us our meals?"
Chef growled and didn't answer. Instead he motioned for them to follow him and led them to the middle of the campgrounds. "This is where you'll sleep. Three tents per team."
"Tents?" Janae looked concerned. She glanced over to Luigi, who winked at her and pointed at one of the tents. She gagged.
"Can I room with her?" Ignatius devilishly winked at Grace, who turned her head the other way.
"Why is he even here?" Grace whispered to Eun, who shook her head and shrugged.
Chef then led them over the little bridge above the stream to the eating area. "Here, you will have breakfast, lunch and dinner. Don't be late, cause chef junior over there won't wait for you." Over in the shack was none other than Delanie Rios, who looked annoyed as she set up some plates.
"No way." Colleen giggled. "Delanie is serving us our meals?!"
Delanie rolled her eyes. "Yeah, I'm here. My pilot was dropped, so Chris and Chef offered me a good deal to cook food for you losers."
"You're the loser here." Lesley chuckled. "See what being a pain in the butt gets you?"
Delanie growled. "It was just another role!"
"Did I ask you to speak?!" Chef shut her up. He then led the group through a few trees that looked like they had been planted there to purposely separate the next area. "Here is your confession cam spot. He pointed to a small spot in front of the lake. "Before anyone asks-"
Derrik cut him off. "A confessional outside? Cool!"
Chef took a deep breath.
"Ooh!" Sandy jumped up and down. "Super cool! Me first! Me first!" She ran up to the spot.
Confession Cam:
(Sandy) She's sitting in front of the lake and looks around. "This is soooo cool! Do you hear that?! It's birds chirping! And the lake water feels so good!" She runs her hand in the water. "EEE! Another chance! I'm so gonna kill it this time around!" She claps excitedly.
(Luigi) He smiles. "A second chance. And now there are TWO lolis to go around." He awkwardly chuckles.
(Asandra) "Third times the charm!" A bird flies by and poops on her shoulder. Her face turns bright red.
(Micky) "Total Drama brought back the best of the best, me!" He rubs his hands together. "I'm so excited and I'm gonna crush the competition this time around! These losers got nothing on Micky!"
"We're right here." Janae said.
The camera zoomed away from Micky to show the whole group, who were all several feet away.
"Right…" Micky said.
Chef led everyone back to the campsites to explain the first challenge. "Let's get this show on the road." He announced. "Your first challenge-"
"What about the teams?" Joshua asked.
"SHUT IT!" He yelled. "You are a bold bunch." He straightened up. "Your first challenge is to explore the island. Hidden all around the island are twelve balls. Your job is to collect a ball for yourself. Whoever doesn't find a ball will be eliminated. Yup. Twelve balls. Fourteen of you. That'll raise the stakes up."
"A double elimination in the first episode? Harsh." Brendan said.
"Better start looking." Ignatius said to him.
And just like that, people separated and started looking around camp.
"There are way too many people looking around here." Grace said.
"You're right." Brendan said. "You wanna go look in the forest with Janet and I?"
"Sure." Grace smiled.
Confession Cam:
(Brendan) "Sweet, I got Janet and Grace in my corner. This is perfect! Lola and Carter went far with their early alliance strategy, so I might as well form one now to make sure I go farther this time around."
Ignatius watched as Brendan, Grace and Janet walked off towards the woods. He snuck behind them.
"That guys up to no good." Sandy said, watching.
"Hey." Micky said.
"Micky!" Sandy jumped and hugged him tight. "So good to see you!"
"Yeah…" Micky pulled away. "You too. Look, do you wanna work together?"
Sandy stopped and thought about it, then grinned. "Well, why not?!"
Confession Cam:
(Sandy) "Yeah, I helped vote Micky out first in Total Drama Adventure, but I think everyone's redeemable!" She giggles.
Lesley tapped Colleen on the shoulder. "Partners?"
"No way." Colleen said. "I don't trust you."
Lesley's mouth dropped. "Are you serious?"
Colleen nodded. "I'd rather make new friends. No hard feelings, it's just, what happened last time kind of ruined my game. I'm not gonna let anyone distract me again." She then turned toward Derrik and Eun, who were looking at the interaction. Eun looked like she was fan-girling and Derrik was just checking her out with a smile. He winked.
"Let's trio it up?" He asked.
"…Sure." Colleen smiled and joined them, causing Lesley's jaw to drop again.
"Hey, Lesley, you can join us!" Sandy waved him over to her and Micky. He shrugged and headed their way, looking back at the other three one more time.
Confession Cam:
(Lesley) "I thought this time around Colleen and I would start fresh. I guess that's not the case. But to go off with Derrik and Eun?! The bar is low, Colleen. Look what you're missing out on!" He pointed at himself.
Joshua was looking around a tent when a short girl pulled on his arm. He looked down to see Janae, with Luigi trailing behind her.
"You, big guy." Janae said. "I need you to come with me."
"Me?" Joshua asked.
"I'm not talking to anyone else right now, am I?" Janae rolled her eyes. "I'm enlisting you to protect me from him." She pointed at Luigi.
Luigi nervously held his finger up. "Beautiful Janae, I'll say it once more. I do not mean to harm you in any way."
Janae got behind Joshua. "You're so annoying! I don't want you!"
"You don't know it yet, but I'm good for you." Luigi smiled.
Joshua stood in between them awkwardly. "Uh…"
"Sweet!" Sandy cheered. "I found a ball!" She stepped out of a tent and held up a dark green ball. "Did I find the first one?!"
Just then, Chef's voice came up over a loudspeaker system he had installed all over the island. "The first ball has been found. Eleven more to go."
Luigi then held a brown ball out to Janae. "A peace offering, my lady." He smiled.
Janae happily grabbed it from him.
"Ten balls to go." Chef said.
"Where did that come from?!" Janae asked.
"The tent behind me." Luigi smiled.
"There are only ten left!" Joshua announced and he ran toward the eating area, leaving Janae and Luigi.
"Wait!" Janae followed him, followed by Luigi.
"Do you think there are any more in this area?" Colleen asked.
"No way." Eun said. "If this were a fanfic-"
"Let's check out the fire pit area then!" Derrik suggested. "Come on, beautiful." He winked at Colleen, who smiled back.
Confession Cam:
(Derrik) "Oh yeah! I still got it!" He flexed his biceps then kissed them.
Asandra kicked around the confession cam area for a bit and sighed, taking a seat.
Confession Cam:
(Asandra) "I don't know what to do with myself…" She says sadly. "My friends aren't here. I'm going to have to make new ones all over again. I'm so nervous… And I really want to break that third voted out curse! It's caused so many fan theories. Getting voted out third for the third time in a row would be my worst nightmare." A bird flies over her and she takes cover, expecting to be pooped on again. The bird shrieks and drops a brown ball down on her head. She picks it up as Chef announces that the third ball has been found. Immediately, she drops it and screams.
Brendan, Grace and Janet all walked down a path in the woods, checking various spots behind bushes, in tree holes and up in the trees themselves.
"These balls could be anywhere in here." Grace said.
"Good thing this island is smaller than Wawanakwa." Brendan said. "We can scale it all in an afternoon if we have too."
"Let's not have to." Janet said, already out of breath.
"So, what has everyone been up to since they last competed?" Brendan asked to break the ice.
"I've been enjoying my green life!" Janet smiled. She pulled out a piece of chicken from her pocket. "I still love chicken. I snuck some in." She giggled. "And Chris and Chef always bring me back to help judge the cooking challenges! It's sooooo satisfying."
"That's cool." Grace said. "I haven't had it easy since Total Drama Holiday… Do I even have to explain why?" She shook her head.
"Are people still coming at you for that?" Brendan asked.
"Well, when all they see on TV is the Grace that smoked a cigarette, cheated on Eddy and got played by that rat Ignatius… They're sure to judge." She made fists with her hands. "At first I was petrified when I saw that scum ball was here too, but I'm looking forward to kicking his butt!"
Brendan and Janet laughed. "I'm so down to help you do that." Brendan said.
"He's going down!" Janet cheered, mouth full.
Ignatius watched from a bush a bit back. He rolled his eyes, then caught the camera.
Confession Cam:
(Ignatius) "Hi haters. I told you I'd be back. And I'm ready to crush all these dumb ass idiots. First up is Grace, for not giving me some ass when I wanted it. She's also mega annoying. Too bad Taylor isn't here cause she has a thing or two coming for her too."
"So I was thinking." Brendan said. "People that make alliances early on always make it pretty far in the game. What if we had an alliance of our own?"
"An alliance?" Janet asked.
"Yeah, like we can vote together and make it to the final 3!" Brendan said.
"Wowee!" Janet clapped. "That's so exciting!"
"I think we'd make a great team!" Brendan said. "What do you think, Grace?"
Grace patted down her skirt. "I dunno, Brendan." She said. "It's a big commitment forming an alliance this early. Not that I don't trust you two… I just don't want to make any mistakes this time around."
Brendan nodded. "Trust me, Grace, I don't want to make any mistakes either. It would be nice to have each others backs."
Grace nodded, then smiled. "Aw what the heck, I'll take this alliance over any other." She put her hand in front of her and Brendan and Janet joined in. They made it official.
"I'm in an alliance! Woo!" Janet cheered.
"We just can't talk about it in front of other people." Brendan said to her.
Confession Cam:
(Brendan) He holds his two fists in front of him in a celebratory manner. "Score!"
(Janet) She is swooning. "I'm so excited! I'm in an alliance! Me! Included! It feels so nice! This calls for a celebratory bite!" She pulls out a drumstick from her pocket and takes a bite. She then shoves the entire thing in her mouth.
(Grace) "I don't want to get too caught up with deals and all. It's only day one. And it's obvious Brendan only chose me and Janet for an alliance because he thinks he can beat us in the end…" She takes a breath. "I'll just have to beat him before he beats me."
(Ignatius) "…Idiots."
Derrik, Colleen and Eun walked along the side of the stream toward the fire pit area.
"Colleen, I always thought you were the prettiest on Total Drama Seasons." Derrik smiled at her.
"Thanks, Derrik." Colleen said.
"And don't I look way hotter in person?" Derrik jumped in front of her and flexed. He was hot for sure.
"I always thought you were very cute." Colleen said. "You never were my type though."
Derrik's smirk dropped to a look of disgust. "Excuse me? You know you want this hottie right here." He kissed his arm.
"Actually, I don't." Colleen rolled her eyes. "I remember you now, you try too hard."
Derrik gasped. "Oh come on. I thought I still had it."
"Don't be so defensive." Colleen said. "Like I said, you're attractive, but not my type."
Derrik smirked, accepting the challenge. "So you like to play hard to get, eh? Listen, beautiful-" He went to hold her chin and she stepped away.
"Derrik, not cool." Colleen said.
"My apologies, my lady-" He went to kiss her hand and she pulled it away.
"Stop touching me!" She yelled. "Sorry."
Derrik frowned and held his hands up in front of him. "My bad, gorgeous… All I'm trying to say is that I'm a way better man than Lesley."
Colleen rolled her eyes but before she could say anything, Eun spoke.
"Do not disrespect Lesleen!" She grabbed Derrik by the arms, then giggled. "Wow, nice arms."
"Thanks." Derrik smirked.
She then got serious again. "Lesley and Colleen are meant to be together! Leave her alone and stop talking about it!"
Derrik looked the other way. "Fine."
Colleen didn't know what to say. "Thanks?"
"Anytime." Eun smiled.
Confession Cam:
(Colleen) "I'm not here to be distracted this time around. I'm here for the win." She says confidently. "And with a cast full of a bunch of pre-mergers, I'm sure to find a good footing somewhere! I just need these boys to get off my neck for like, 2 seconds, please."
(Eun) "As a fanfic writer, I'm determined to push my fictional ideas to become facts! Lesley and Colleen will be an easy project, I assume. They have the hots for each other! I don't care what Colleen says." Eun scribbles in her notebook. "I'm so excited! Erika, I'm gonna make you proud!"
"Found it!" Joshua smiled as he held up the brown ball he found under one of the wooden tables.
"The 4th ball has been found." Chef announced.
"Good job." Luigi said.
"Thanks, bro!" Joshua smiled. "Now let's find you one!"
"Can we not?" Janae asked. Both Luigi and Joshua looked at her and she crossed her arms. "Kidding."
Confession Cam:
(Janae) "I'm assuming these balls are determining teams by color." She states. "It's obvious. Sandy found the green one and both Joshua and I found the brown ones." She stops to think. "Interesting."
Janae held her ball up next to Joshua's. "They're the same color." She said. "I think that means we'll be on the same team."
"Cool!" Joshua smiled and forced a high-five. "If we're on the same team, we're off to a great start!"
"Sure…" Janae said. "Maybe we can be off to a great finish too." She said eagerly.
"Like an alliance?" Joshua asked.
Janae nodded.
"But we don't even know who else is on our team." Joshua said.
Janae rolled her eyes. "Does it matter?"
"It does." Joshua said nobly. "I'm a team player. Alliances are no good for a team to succeed! It would just separate us. Why don't we just focus on winning?"
Janae looked at him like he had disrespected her by saying that.
"Come on." Luigi pointed toward the beach. "There's gotta be a ball on the sand somewhere."
"Good idea, Luigi." Joshua followed him.
Janae had the same look on her face as she followed them both.
Confession Cam:
(Janae) "Did he just turn down an alliance? From me?" She is highly annoyed. "I'm very bothered by this. Whatever." She fixes her glasses. "If I learned anything from Vincent last season, it's to not let his type even make it close to the merge. I just need to rally the troops."
(Joshua) "I know an alliance offer is tempting, but I want to see who I'm working with first!" He smiles. "It's a whole new ball game! I can't just make decisions for the team without a meet and greet."
The campsites were a mess. Tents were turned upside down and supplies were scattered everywhere.
"We made a mess of this place." Micky said.
Sandy was running around from pile to pile, searching. "There's gotta be a ball here somewhere! If I were a ball, where would I hide? Here bally bally ball, here bally ball!"
"Let's go somewhere else." Lesley said, impatient.
"This stupid ball won't come out of hiding!" Sandy shouted.
"She is something else." Lesley said.
"You haven't seen what soda does to her." Micky said.
"Did you say soda?!" Sandy ran up to Micky and picked him up. "Where?! Where?!"
Lesley took Micky from Sandy and put him down. "Not here. Like these balls. We gotta look somewhere else now."
Sandy looked around. "Are you sure about that?"
"Positive." Lesley said. "Come on."
"Yes!" Micky said. "Follow me!"
"No, follow me." Lesley said, heading in another direction.
"I say we go this way." Micky said.
Sandy got crosseyed. "I don't know which way to go!" She quickly said, then started acting like she was a robot that was malfunctioning. "Beep boop beep."
Lesley groaned, causing her to stop. "Hey smartass," He addressed Micky. "That's the same way Brendan and them went. Nobody's gone this way yet." He pointed behind him.
"Good point." Micky said. "I was just testing you!" He quickly said, then ran over to Lesley's side.
Sandy joined them, then stopped them as they started walking past the big staircase. "Should we check up there?"
"No." Lesley said.
"No." Micky said.
"Are you sure." Sandy smirked at the two.
"I'm not climbing up those stairs." Micky said. "I love myself too much."
"Okay. I guess that makes sense." Sandy shrugged, laughed and ran past both of them into the woods.
"Wait up!" Micky ran after her.
"Idiots…" Lesley muttered.
Confession Cam:
(Lesley) He just looks at the camera. Can you feel the annoyance in his eyes?
"I feel like we've been looking for hours." Grace said, checking behind a few bushes. "There has to be at least 3 balls in this forest, right?"
"Maybe we took the wrong path." Brendan said, jumping down from a tree branch.
Janet was sitting at the base of the tree. "I hope I find a green ball like the one Sandy found."
"You aren't going to find anything if you just sit there, girl." Grace said, looking behind another set of bushes. She spotted a green ball at the base of them. "There we go! I found one!" She picked it up and smiled.
"5th ball has been found." Chef's voice rang around the island.
"Nice." Brendan said.
All of a sudden, Ignatius popped up in front of her, out of nowhere. Grace froze at the sight of him and gasped as he snatched the ball and started running away.
"Oh no you don't." Grace said. "Get back here, jerk!" She started chasing him, leaving Brendan and Janet, stunned.
"Should we follow them?" Brendan asked.
"I don't know." Janet said, getting up and patting down her shirt. "Seems like a lot of work."
"They're already out of sight…" Brendan said, looking on. He turned around. "I guess let's go this way." He pointed.
Meanwhile, Colleen and Derrik were looking around the fire pit area while Eun looked around the podium.
"Find anything yet?" Colleen asked.
"Nope!" Said Eun.
Colleen sat on a stump to take a break and Derrik kneeled in front of her. "Sure you don't want to give me a chance?" He winked.
"Ugh!" Eun exclaimed. "Derrik, you're so annoying! She said to leave her alone! Why don't you?!" And she stomped off.
"Wait, Eun!" Colleen called for her but she didn't turn around. She then looked at Derrik, who awkwardly smiled. "Oh boy."
"Come on, I know you think I'm attractive." Derrik smirked. "Why not act on it? Alliance?" He leaned in to her with his lips puckered.
Colleen got up. "You're gross." She turned around and started looking once more.
Derrik sighed and leaned back against a stump. "Your loss."
"Yup, my loss." Colleen rolled her eyes as she looked around the stumps. She then got wide-eyed and rushed behind one, dug a little and pulled out a green ball. "Yes!" She exclaimed.
"The 6th ball has been found. Halfway mark, maggots."
Confession Cam:
(Colleen) She proudly holds up the ball. "Found it myself!" She then points at the camera. "Oh, and Derrik is only attractive BEFORE he opens his mouth."
"6 balls found, 6 balls to find." Brendan said, poking through bushes with a stick.
"You're so good at math." Janet said.
"Thanks…" Brendan said. "…I feel like we've searched every where. Where are these dang balls?!"
"Maybe they aren't in the woods after all." Janet said.
"There's gotta be at least one more." Brendan said. "These woods take up a big chunk of the island."
Janet scratched her head and looked up. She spotted a green ball hanging by a string on a tree branch. "Look!" She pointed up at it. "It's a green ball! It's beautiful!" She jumped up to try and grab it, but she was never going to reach it with how high it was.
"I got it." Brendan said. He started climbing up the base of the tree until he reached the branch it was on. "I'm gonna untie it, okay? Just watch out for the ball when it falls."
"Okay!" Janet smiled, excited for the green ball to be hers. She got on her tippy toes and looked up. When the ball finally came down, she reached her arms out but it fell right through them and hit her on the nose before rolling off. "Ouch!" She rubbed her nose and then panicked as she spotted the ball getting farther and farther from her. "Oh no you don't, you're my little green ball!" She started running after it. "Come back here you!" She then tripped and started rolling along with the ball, screaming. She rolled right out of the western side of the woods and stopped in front of the river. The ball fell right in and started floating north. "Oh no." Janet said, rubbing her head and looking on.
Brendan jumped out of the tree and wiped himself off. "You got it?" He looked up but no one was there. "Janet?!" He looked around.
Confession Cam:
(Brendan) "How did I lose both of my alliance members within the same half hour?!"
Grace didn't keep Ignatius out of her sight as she chased him through the woods. "Ignatius, you asshole, give me back my ball!"
She chased him for what seemed to be like forever until he finally stopped in his tracks and turned around to face her. "Hey there, gorgeous." He ran a finger through her hair and she slapped his hand away.
"You are gonna pay for what you did to me and Eddy." Grace said.
"You're still not over that?" Ignatius asked.
"I'm single and I like it that way." Grace said. She shook her head. "What I'm not over is how I never got my revenge."
"And you never will." Ignatius smirked at her. "I thought you were trying to turn a new leaf, Gracie."
"I will once I get your sorry butt out of here." She replied.
"You're the one who quit." Ignatius rolled his eyes. "You should have just shut your little girl lips up and followed my lead."
"Do I really have to sit through your whole shpeal?" Grace groaned. "Just give me my ball so I can get you out of my sight."
"And what makes you think I'll give it to you?" Ignatius laughed in her face, getting her angrier.
"I found it fair and square." Grace said, and held her arm out. Ignatius spit on it, and she quickly slapped him in the face. He dropped the ball and she picked it up and glared at him. "I hate you so much." She turned the other way and left.
Confession Cam:
(Grace) "First chance I get, that guy is going down." She smirks as she holds the green ball in her hand.
(Ignatius) He's rubbing his cheek. "Pfffft, I let her have it. Stupid girl still needs my help after all this time."
Brendan ran through a bush and ran right into Eun, who was coming in from the opposite direction. "Whoa!" He helped her up. "Eun, you okay?"
"Am I okay?!" Eun exclaimed. "Are you? Hi Brendan! So nice to be competing with you, at last!"
"Where did you come from?" Brendan asked.
"The fire pit." Eun smiled. "It looks so nice! You get eliminated in style this time around." She giggled.
"Did you already check that side you came from?" Brendan asked.
"Yeah." Eun said. "I got nothing." She frowned, then perked back up. "Brendan! I'm a huge fan of yours. You are so influential."
"I am?" Brendan asked.
"Yeah!" Eun said, taking his hand and leading him in another direction. "To me, at least. I wrote so many fanfictions about you and Lola. I scrapped a lot of them, but one of my first big ones was about you two!"
"Wow…" Brendan rubbed the back of his head. "Haven't heard anyone say Lola and Brendan in the same sentence in a while."
"Well that was so long ago." Eun said. "But I just wanted to thank you for being one of my inspirations early on in my fanfiction career!"
Brendan smiled a bit. "That's nice to hear. I'm glad."
"Me too!" Eun exclaimed. "And you write too! I know it's not fanfic, but I'd love to have a writing session with you."
"Really?" Brendan blushed. "I-"
"I'd really really like that." Eun looked at him with big puppy dog eyes.
"Alright, sure." Brendan nodded.
"Sweet!" Eun exclaimed. "Now let's find these balls!"
Brendan nodded and followed her through the trees.
Joshua, Janae, and Luigi were all on different ends of the beach, looking for another ball. Though some, aka Janae, were barely looking.
Janae looked at the camera. "What?" She held up her brown ball. "I already have mine." She then kicked around in the sand.
"It's a beautiful day to find a ball!" Joshua announced from the other end of the beach, holding up another brown ball.
Janae looked over in his direction, then back at the camera. "See? It wasn't even on this side anyway."
Luigi cheered as he realized him and Janae had the same color ball.
"Cool!" Joshua said as he handed Luigi the ball and took his out of his pocket. "We all got brown!"
"What a pleasure." Luigi awkwardly smiled at Janae, who crossed her arms and looked away.
"The 7th ball has been found." Chef announced.
Joshua pulled Luigi and Janae in for a hug. It was pretty awkward. "It's officially unofficial!" He announced happily. "Does that make sense?"
Ignatius creeped through the woods, annoyed. "Little bitch thinks she's gonna outplay me… Ha! I'll make her quit 3 times more." He walked past a rabbit and kicked it. "I'll set her tent on fire while she's sleeping. I'm not above that." He stopped when he heard rustling by a bush and hid.
Out came Micky, looking up in the trees. "Sandy, you're crazy!" He shouted.
"I'm not crazy!" Sandy yelled, swinging from tree branch to tree branch as if they were monkey bars.
"You're not crazy, you're Sandy Vines." Micky said as she said it. "We know. It's your catchphrase at this point."
Sandy smiled and let go of the trees, falling and landing right on Micky, who fell to the ground with a thud. He groaned as he sat up. Sandy petted his head.
"I have a catchphrase?!" Sandy said excitedly. "Awesome!" She jumped up and did a toe touch.
Lesley stepped out of the bush and joined them. "You two actually gonna look or just clown around like idiots?"
"Be nice!" Sandy pointed at him. "I'm helping you out!" She laughed and ran around him several times. "Lesley needs my help! Lesley needs my help!"
Lesley rolled his eyes. "I liked you better on my TV screen, when you were out wrestling alligators."
"And I'd do it again!" She proudly announced.
"Save it till after you find us some balls." Micky said.
"You're the only one that needs balls." Lesley said to Micky.
"Huh?" Micky looked at him.
"Right over your head, got it." Lesley said. He turned and started walking deeper into the woods.
"Wait up!" Sandy hopped behind him.
"What did he mean?" Micky asked, then turned and followed behind. "What did you mean? Did you find one?"
Ignatius watched from his hiding spot several yards away and decided to follow them.
Confession Cam:
(Ignatius) "It's 3 of us in this group without a ball, so we'll definitely find at least one." He says. "And it'll be just as easy to snatch it from one of these losers."
A green ball appears floating down the river. We hear panting and see Janet off to the side of the river, chasing down the ball. "Green… Ball… You… will… be… MINE!" She proclaims between gasps for air. She starts to slow down and tear up as the ball gets farther and farther away from her. "No!" She cries out as she trips and falls to the ground. She sniffles but looks down in front of her and spots a brown ball. She picks it up and looks at it.
"The 8th ball has been found." Chef announced.
Janet looked at the ball and frowned. "But it's not green!" She pouted, got up, and then sat back down to catch her breath some more.
"So you're not gonna help me look for a ball?" Derrik asked, trying to catch up with Colleen, who was quickly walking away from him.
"Nope." Colleen said.
"Aw!" Derrik pleaded. "I don't want to be the first one out. That would be even worse than last time!"
"Not my problem, Derrik." Colleen said.
"Please Colleen!" Derrik asked. "Alliance?"
Colleen turned around. "Derrik, I'd rather-"
"Shh!" He hushed her as his eyes fixated on the river. "There it is!" He pointed toward the green ball that was making its way up the side. Without thinking much of it, he jumped in.
Colleen looked on. "At least that got him off my back." She turned back around and headed in the opposite direction, toward camp.
Derrik went after the ball, swimming as fast as he could. Every time he thought it was within reach it slipped out of his hands. "Come… On…" He grunted. He kept swimming for it but stopped and looked in horror as the ball disappeared in front of him. "A waterfall!" He screamed and swam in the opposite direction. He kept getting dragged toward the end of the river but finally swam himself to the edge and pulled himself out. He stopped to catch his breath.
Meanwhile, Eun and Brendan walked through the woods. "And isn't it so weird that Chef didn't give us teams yet? Actually, it's weird that he's the host! I don't know why I didn't think of it first!" Eun laughed.
"That is strange." Brendan said. "I wonder what caused Chris to miss an entire season."
Eun got closer to him. "I think it has something to do with the money Chris owes." She whispered.
"The money he owes?" Brendan was lost.
"That's the word on the street." Eun said matter-of-factly and walked past the final tree and into a small clearing. "WOW, cool!"
Brendan stepped out. "We cleared the entire woods?"
"Oh it's so pretty!" Eun jumped and started frolicking around the clearing. "We have to have our writing session here, Brendan."
"It looks so calm over this way." Brendan said, gazing into the field. He then spotted something out of place on the far end and immediately rushed up to get it. A brown ball. "Sweet." He smiled.
"The 9th ball has been found." Chef announced. "Only 3 left. Hurry up!"
"You found it." Eun walked up to him. "You think there are any other balls around here?"
"I don't know." Brendan shrugged. "Only this spot looked different."
"Oh no." Eun said sadly. "I'm so done for."
Brendan frowned and thought for a bit, then he handed her the ball.
"Wait, seriously?" Eun looked at him like he had two heads.
"Just take it." Brendan said. "I know I'll find another one."
Eun hugged him. "You're such a sweetheart!"
Confession Cam:
(Brendan) He looks at the camera, knowing what you're thinking. "I know, I just put myself in danger by giving Eun the ball… but if only you had seen her face… And she was so nice to me before! I couldn't help myself. I had to help her."
"-And then when all my teammates were out, it was just me versus six other people, but I grabbed my gun and I lasered the crap outta everyone else there!" Sandy said, finishing up her story.
"That was a cool story, Sandy, but can I talk about myself now?" Micky asked.
"OK, I'm all ears!" Sandy said.
"Really?" Micky was surprised. "Well, okay then. So I'm…" And as he went about his story, Lesley sped up ahead of the two to shut it out.
"I'm this close." Lesley muttered. "This close to ending it all." He stepped through some bushes and stopped. Micky and Sandy stopped behind him. "There has to be a ball in there." He said. In front of them was a cave.
"I wonder how deep that thing is." Micky said.
"Let's find out!" Sandy jumped.
"Wait!" Micky stopped her. "What if there are bats in there? Or a bear?"
"This isn't Wawanakwa, silly!" Sandy said.
"I wouldn't be surprised if there are bears, though." Lesley said.
Then, a green ball rolled out of the cave and stopped right in front of Lesley's feet. He bent over and picked it up. He paused and looked in the cave before turning around to face them. "Well, that was easier than I thought."
He spoke too soon. Out from a bush on his side jumped Ignatius and with a swift move he snatched the ball right out of Lesley's hand and made a run for it straight into the cave.
"Get back here!" Lesley growled and chased him in.
"He's a goner." Micky said, looking at the cave but not daring to follow.
"Who? Lesley or Ignatius?" Sandy asked. Micky shrugged.
"The 10th ball has been found."
"And stolen!" Lesley shouted as he ran through the dark before spotting a light. He skidded to a stop right at the edge of a cliff that was at the opening on the other side of the cave. "Where the heck…" He looked down and saw as Ignatius came to the surface, ball in hand, and floated away. "Are you kidding me? Kid jumped straight into the ocean for a ball." Lesley rolled his eyes before spotting another green ball floating past him down in the sea below. He fixated his eyes onto it to make sure it was a ball. It was. "Screw it." He said, jumping down into the sea.
Sandy arrived at the end of the cave, carrying Micky in her arms and stopping at the edge of the cliff. "Whoa." She looked at the view, then down. Lesley's arm emerged from the water before he did, holding the green ball in hand.
"The 11th ball has been found."
Sandy cheered, accidentally dropping Micky down below.
"AH!" Micky screamed "NOT AGAIN!"
"Oops." Sandy chuckled nervously. "I'll save you, Micky!" She dived in.
After a long day of searching, everyone gathered back at the campsites, where Chef stood disappointed.
"The sun is about to set and you still haven't found the last ball!" Chef said, annoyed. Brendan, Micky and Derrik were the only 3 without balls. "Can you grow some brains?!"
"Seriously." Janae said. "I want this challenge to be over with."
"Where has no one looked?" Eun asked.
"I feel like we covered the entire island." Brendan groaned.
"Evidently not." Grace said.
"Think harder!" Sandy shouted.
"Wait a minute." Micky thought, looking over at the staircase behind the camp. "It must be up there!" He started running toward the stairs. Brendan and Derrik quickly copied.
Soon, all three were racing up the stairs.
"I hope there's a ball up there." Joshua said.
"If there isn't, that would be funny." Lesley said.
"It has to be up there!" Sandy said. "We were the last ones at camp and walked right past it!"
Micky quickly fell behind both Brendan and Derrik, who raced up the stairs. They were neck and neck, both getting closer to the top and leaving Micky farther and farther behind. Despite the obvious loss, Micky didn't give up.
Finally, Brendan and Derrik both reached the top and within seconds, Brendan snatched the last green ball. Derrik didn't even try to fight back. He just groaned and crossed his arms. Brendan smiled and held on to the ball tight while getting a good look at the view.
After the three boys had all descended, Chef separated everyone by ball color.
"I knew it." Janae said.
"I'm glad I'm not on a team with her again." Colleen said.
Janae was unbothered. "The feeling is mutual."
Chef spoke. "With brown balls, the first team is Janet, Joshua, Janae, Eun, Luigi, and Asandra."
"Yay!" Eun smiled. "We have Janet! And Asandra!"
Janet was sad. "I wish I was on the green team."
"It's okay." Joshua put his hand on her back. "We're happy to have you."
"With green balls, our other team is Sandy, Colleen, Lesley, Brendan, Grace, and Ignatius."
"Looks like we're a much stronger team." Lesley boasted.
"Now for the first time in Total Drama history," Chef cleared his throat. "I am allowing you to pick your team names. Something related to your team colors."
"Team Chicken!" Janet immediately blurted out. The brown logo with a drumstick appeared in the corner of the screen with a ding.
"Are you kidding me?" Janae asked. A few of the people on the green team chuckled.
"Team Earth?" Grace asked to her team. The green logo with the planet appeared in the corner with a ding.
"Team Chicken and Team Earth." Chef confirmed. "You are all officially safe tonight."
Both teams cheered.
"Now to deal with you two." Chef directed his attention to Micky and Derrik, who both didn't find anything. "I have good news and bad news."
"Good news first, please." Micky said.
"No! Bad news." Derrik said, tense.
"You both aren't leaving but one of you is!" Chef said. "You are going to face each other in a special duel!"
"Bring it!" Micky said. "I'm not letting you get in my way!"
Derrik smiled. "You don't have the looks, muscles or height."
"Don't be so rude!" Sandy said.
Chef snapped his fingers and smirked as Delanie, dressed in a chicken costume, brought out a basket with two eggs in it. She did not look amused.
Chef was grinning through it all. "I love being host."
"We love you as host!" Eun said.
Chef gave her a look of disapproval.
"What?" Eun asked. "It's every fanfic writer's dream!"
"Team chicken!" Janet cheered.
Chef looked at the camera. "We planned this BEFORE Janet chose that as their team name, okay?"
"Team chicken rocks!" Joshua said.
Asandra giggled. "I love my team."
Chef carried on. "Derrik, Micky, both of you grab an egg." Both teens did just that. "Now when I say so, you will smash the egg on each others heads."
A few people let out some giggles and chuckles.
"What for?" Micky asked.
"No way! Not on me." Derrik said.
"I already got the win!" Micky exclaimed as he chucked the egg he picked at Derrik's head. The egg broke open and out oozed green paint.
"Yuck!" Derrik exclaimed before smashing his egg on Micky's forehead, causing him to fall back. When he sat up, he was covered in brown paint.
Lesley chuckled. "Not a good look for you, bro."
"Gross." Micky said, rubbing his forehead. "And ouch. You're gonna pay for that!"
"Bring it!" Derrik said.
Micky lunged at him, but was held back by Brendan and Joshua.
"Let me at him!" He shouted.
"Enough!" Chef snapped. "Ya'll can't even follow my instructions. Don't make me kick you both outta here." Both of them stood quiet. "So, Derrik got the green paint and Micky got the brown paint. That means that whoever wins this duel will win it for that team and join them, got it?"
"So what's the duel?" Derrik asked while flexing his pecs.
"Simple." Chef said. "Whoever pins the other one down for three seconds wins."
"Piece of cake." Derrik said while Micky shouted "No fair!" At the same time.
Chef rolled his eyes. "You must do it with your hands behind your back."
"That evens the odds out more." Sandy observed.
"I guess." Micky said.
And so the two were readied by Delanie, who tied their hands behind their backs and put a small barricade around them in the sand.
"Let's get this over with quick," said Chef, looking down at the wristwatch he was wearing. "Just go!"
Immediately, Derrik rushed toward Micky, who jumped out of his way. Derrik turned around and did the same thing. Micky started to run away from him and they ran in circles while everyone else looked on.
"That little pipsqueak sure is fast." Lesley said. Grace and Colleen, both on either side of him, just nodded as they all looked on.
"Come on Micky!" Sandy jumped in front of them. "Crush him!"
"He's not even on your team." Janae said. "Do you not see the brown paint?"
"Well, we don't really want Derrik on our team anyway." Colleen said.
"Hey!" Derrik stopped chasing Micky and looked over to Colleen. This gave Micky just enough time to lunge at him, causing them both to fall to the ground.
Everyone was fixated on the two as they rolled around in the sand. Derrik would land on Micky, but he would give his all and fight back. Derrik always seemed to have the upper hand when he was on top, but Micky gave his all.
Confession Cam:
(Janae) "At this point I just want this to be over so I can get to scheming, can they hurry up?"
(Ignatius) He yawns. "BOR-ING."
(Joshua) "Of course I'm rooting for Micky! He's on my team! Sure, his attitude could use some work, but I'm optimistic."
(Colleen) "Do I want Derrik to win? Not really. But I do want my team to win."
It didn't take much longer for a winner to be crowned. Derrik clearly had the upper hand, he just had to tire Micky out for three seconds. Micky was visibly tired at this point, but he didn't give up. After a few more close calls, the boys rolled around and once Derrik was on his stomach, Micky's eyes went wide and he screamed as he planted his teeth into Derrik's hand and bit, hard. Derrik screamed and Micky jumped on top of him for one, two, three seconds! Ding ding ding.
"Wow." Chef said. "So Micky actually did it!"
"I did it!" Micky exclaimed. "Told you I wouldn't let you stop me!"
Derrik glared but was still in pain from the bite. "Yeah yeah. Someone untie me so I can punch this guy in the face."
"As much as I'd like to see that, we're out of time." Chef said, picking up Derrik and carrying him away.
"Really, no goodbyes? No last words?" Derrik asked.
"These are your last words." Chef said.
"I need to talk to the ladies! Girls! Avenge me!" Derrik shouted as he was dragged away.
"Revenge is sweet." Micky smiled. Everyone just looked at him, not sure what he meant by those words.
Confession Cam:
(Micky) "Ha! How's that for redemption?" A cricket is heard in the background. "What?! He's the one who bit my hand in TDA, remember?!"
(Asandra) She counts on her fingers. "Okay, so I just have to beat two more eliminations them I'm good…" She breaths. "Can I do it? I think I can! I just need to… make friends. I like Eun and Janet. Maybe them. Joshua too."
(Joshua) "Team Chicken has got this game in the bag! One of us is taking it home for sure, especially with my leadership!"
"Welcome to the team." Joshua hi-fived Micky after untying him.
"One elimination down," Micky counted everyone. "Twelve more to go!"
"Slow down there." Colleen said. "The game just started."
"It's good to dream big." Brendan said.
"I'm not dreaming." Micky protested. "I KNOW it."
"Sure." Janae said.
"So what now?" Grace asked.
"Let's get to know each other!" Sandy smiled. "Come on, Earth squad!" She leaped towards the camping area.
"Let's do it." Brendan smiled. Team Earth went off.
"I think we should follow their lead." Asandra said. "I'd love to get to know everyone here better." She smiled.
"Great idea Asandra!" Joshua said.
"Yeah!" Eun agreed. "Let's do it!"
They started to walk off as well, but Janet stayed behind.
"Wait, guys." Janet held her hands together nervously. "What about dinner?"
