Chapter 12

The next afternoon after classes Odette and Grim headed up to the infirmary. All the beds were full with injured students. All had a cast on of some sort.

"It says the first victim is Ruple Stilkins an Octavinelle freshman." Odette said pulling the list out of her breast pocket.

"What a weird name." Grim commented.

"Sh!" Odette whispered holding her finger up to her lips. She asked the nurse who pointed her to the last bed in the back.

"Hi, we've been sent by Head Master Crowley to ask you you about your accident." Odette said giving him her best smile.

"I 'fell down the stairs', but it felt like I was being pushed, but there was no one behind me. I was by myself. I know I didn't fall of my own will. I've never been a klutz." Ruple stated.

"Thanks, we hope you feel better soon." Odette said as she wrote down what he said. They waved at him then left the infirmary.

"The nurse said that they've only kept the serious cases so we'll have to track down the next victim. It says he's a Pomefiore freshman named Hans Raitgan, he's an Pomefiore student." Odette said. "I'm pretty sure he's in our potions class but he's been missing most of the week, so I think he has to take extra lessons to make up for it."

"Oh yeah his hands were bandaged today." Grim chimed in.

The group headed back to potions class and there was Hans. "Hi, we're here to talk to you about your accident." Odette said putting on the same smile.

"It was no accident!" He snapped at her.

"No need to be rude just tell us what happened." Odette said keeping her smile in place.

"I was making potion after class to get some extra lessons in and my hands just went to the hot cauldron. I couldn't stop them. After a several seconds my hands dumped my potion all over the ground." He explained wildly.

"I was right there and saw it happen. It was awful, he was screaming the whole time." The guy next to him said, another Pomefiore student.

"Oh my, that sounds awful. I hope you feel better soon." Odette said after she finished writing down what he said.

"I think we should try to find the rest of these guys at their dorms." Odette said.

"Yeah that's probably the best bet. Why don't we get some dinner than try the next few names." Grim suggested leading them towards the cafeteria.

"Sounds good." Odette agreed.

"Hey there you guys are." Ace said jogging up to them. "What have you been up to all afternoon?"

They quickly explained to him what Crowley had them doing this time. "That sounds like a bummer for you but yeah it is a little suspicious so many people are hurt." Ace said.

"There you are! Crowley told me to come find you guys. Trey fell down the stairs." Deuce said running up to them.

"Trey! He's definitely not the klutzy type." Grim said as the group ran towards the Heartslabyul.

Once everyone arrived they took a few deep breaths to calm themselves down before they headed up to Trey' room.

They knocked and waited to be told to come in.

"Hey how are you feeling?" Odette asked they entered the room.

"There's no need to worry. I'll be on crutches for a few weeks that's it." Trey said smiling up at his guest from his bed.

"I think that's cause to worry normally but especially right now. We'll have to redo our team rooster." Carter said as he gingerly sat on the edge of the bed.

"The team rooster?" Ace and Deuce asked exciting.

"Now isn't the time." Odette said giving them a disappointing look.

"What are all you doing in here? He's suppose to be resting." Riddle asked as he walked through the open doorway carrying a small tray. "Here's some tea and a snack." He said putting the small tray over Trey's lap.

"You don't have to trouble yourself." Trey sighed but picked up the tea cup all the same.

"Well it is my fault you got injured." Riddle said crossing his arms over his chest.

"What happened?" Odette asked taking out her small notebook.

"We were chatting earlier on the stairs in the great hall. I was telling him to start practice without me because I was going to be late. I fell like someone was pulling me backwards and I beg to fall but Trey pulled me forward and ended up falling backwards himself." Riddle explained.

"Another stair case? Whoever this is isn't very original." Grim grumbled then Odette shushed him.

"Well we'll make up for it on the field in honor of Trey." Carter grinned standing up. "Riddle is right the patient does need his rest." He continued shooing them out.

"We are you two up to?" Riddle asked once they got to the lounge.

Once again Odette explain what Crowley has her up to.

"The head master is right to have you investigate this. It is suspicious. If you need help the Heartsbyul dorm will help you in this." Riddle said.

"Really? Thanks. All we got from Crowley is a list." Odette grinned as she took out the list and added Trey's name to it.

"Let me see that." Carter said taking the list. After several minutes he flipped the list over and began to scribble down a few names. "This is probably the next victims the culprit will go after." Carter explained as he handed the list back.

"Oh that's very helpful." Odette beamed up at him.

"Well you're not alone on this anymore. We're gonna help." Ace said looking at the list.

"The more the merrier." Deuce quipped looked at the list too. "Can't let you have all the fun."

"That's the right attitude. If this goes right maybe one of you can take Trey's place." Carter pointed out. "Let's meet up tomorrow after class and I can take you see these guys."

The next day the gang met up with Carter and Riddle near the Seven Great statues.

"Our first stop is the Pomefiore dorm." Carter said as he directed the group to the dorm.

"Oh my god it's a castle!" Grim gasped.

"It is a beautiful castle." Odette sighed in agreement.

The inside was just as beautiful as the outside. In the lounge there were three guys sitting at a table sitting tea.

"The one with the hat is Rook Hunt. He's their best player." Carter whispered to them.

Rook Hunter was wearing a flamboyant dark bluish purple hat on top of his golden blonde locks with a black feather and red band. The hat was a perfect match for his dorm uniform. He barely glanced at the visitors as he continued to chat with his fellow dorm mates. His forest green eyes flicked up to them but just as quickly flicked back to the man on his right.

"He's quite the pretty boy ain't he." Grim whispered to Odette.

"They're all pretty." Odette sighed receiving a quick glance form the other guys.

"I don't think we have any worries here. I don't think he'll be targeted. He's always with one of these guys." Deuce said.

"Trey was with someone." Riddle pointed out.

"True but there's something about him, I don't think we need to worry." Odette whispered as her eyes took in the group of guys. 'They feel like leopards.' Odette thought.

"I don't think this will be the next target. Let's go to the next dorm, Octavinelle." Carter said leading the group away.

Carter lead the group towards the next dorm but as the group cut through the courtyard of the school the group was stopped by two tall man, the Leech twins.

"Hi goldfishy." Floyd grinned down at them staring mostly at Riddle.

"Is this who you were looking for?" Odette whispered to Carter who just gulped and nodded.

"Oh I don't believe we've met you officially yet, Shrimpy" Floyd said turning towards Odette.

"Shrimpy?" Odette asked raising an eyebrow at Carter who just shrugged.

"I really wish you would stop with these ridiculous nicknames." Riddle snapped.

"I don't think anyone in their right mind would mess with these two." Ace whispered to Carter.

"A shrimp with a seal pup. You're both so cute I could just squeeze you both." Floyd said focusing on Grim now who was was laying on Odette's shoulder.

"What a nice surprise to see you again Ms. Thropp. Your timing is a little poor again the dorm is off limits to outsiders right now because of practice. You're not here to spy are you?" Jade asked his gentle smile turning into a wicked grin showing his sharp teeth.

Odette signaled behind her back for the guys to start leaving. Carter and Riddle quietly and slowly move away from the tweels but Ace and Deuce particle ran away catching the tweels' attention instantly.

"They're running, wouldn't it be fun to chase them." Jade chuckled.

"Yeah it would." Floyd laughed then began to chase the boys.

"Idiots." Odette sighed. "Come on let's go do damaged control." She began to run after the group.

"Who are those two?"Grim asked clinging to her shoulder.

"The Leech twins, Jade is in chorus with us. I've heard some rumors about them. It seems they weren't exaggerated." Odette answered.

The tweels only chased the boys for a few minutes. "I think they got your point." Jade chuckled as they stopped the chase.

"Yeah, but I'm just bored now. I could catch them but now I don't wanna." Floyd yawned.

"Thanks for the exercise." Odette said as she passed by the tweels to catch up with the rest of their group. 'God I hate running.' She thought huffing.

"What interesting humans." Jade commented with a smirk.

"So who's next?" Odette huffed as they caught up to the group a few minutes later.

"Jack Howl from Savanaclaw." Carter explained.

"I need to go check on the dorm to make sure everyone is practicing so I must leave this to you." Riddle said with a nod.

"I need to go practice." Carter sighed.

"Come on let's go find this Jack. I think I know who is he. He's in Track and Field Club with me." Deuce explained as they headed towards the Savanaclaw dorm.

"Whoa this dorm is very stylistic." Grim said looking over the dorm.

"Most dorms are." Ace explained.

"I'm pretty sure that's him, running lapping." Deuce said pointing to a tall, tan, muscular men with white wolf ears and tail who was running laps. He waved him down and he jogged over.

"Hi Jack right?" Odette asked putting on a smile, he just nodded.

"We're here to protect you!" Grim exclaimed jumping off Odette's shoulder.

"Protect me from what?" He growled.

Odette quickly explained that they thought he was going to be targeted by someone who was going to try and injury him.

"All that sounds a bit far fetched. I doubt I'll be a target and I can handle myself." Jack said turning and leaving the field.

"Well that didn't go well." Ace sighed shaking head.

"Let's call it a day and go home." Odette sighed turning and coming face to face with three Savanaclaw students.

"If you're going to spy you should do it better." The one the middle growled at them and pulling out his mage stone pen.

"Knock it off!" Ruggie exclaimed appearing behind the group and slapping the leader.

"Oh it's guys from the cafeteria. I don't know if you caught my name last time it's Ruggie Bucchi is my name. I'm the vice house warden here at Savanaclaw." Ruggie said.

"These idiots are trespassing in our territory." A goon growled. "We should teach them a lesson." He continued pulling out his mage stone pen.

"You're the idiot. Crowley will disqualified us from the tournament if we're caught fighting." Leona snapped as Ruggie hit them again. "But a friendly match of spell drive should settle this should it." He continued with a sly grin on his face.

"A match of three on three then? I don't have enough magic to play." Odette told them.

"Fair enough." Goon B said.

During the match Leona had come out to watch. Even with Ruggie and Leona sitting out and just the goon playing Ace, Deuce and Grim still got beat but it was a close match.

"Wow, this was entertaining to watch." Odette said.

"How about a rematch with us?" Ruggie chuckled as he stepped on to the field.

"Isn't once enough. You already beat them." Odette snapped.

"Are you being a little pathetic, picking on these three like this?" Jack asked as he entered the field. He was no longer dressed in his gym clothes but in his dorm uniform.

"Ah, always sticking up for the downtrodden." Ruggie teased.

"Well now the mood is ruin." Leona grumbled turning on his heel and leaving the group.

"Do you know who you're talking to freshman?" The goon growled.

"You're an upperclassmen, act like like." Jack snapped back.

"Leona's right the mood is spoiled." The upperclassmen goon snapped.

"Thanks for the help." Odette said.

"I'm not doing charity work." Jack shot at her.

"Well now that's over, let's call it a day. I need a shower." Ace sighed.

"Try not to get hurt." Deuce said patting Jack's shoulder as the group left.

"You're in no position to tell anyone that." Jack shot back at them.
