Chapter 11: Xana's First Fever
In Xana's bedroom, Eliza was checking Xana's temperature with a thermometer. Harley, Kord, Pronto and Yu Jie were with her. When the thermometer made a beeping noise, Eliza looked at it to see how her daughter's temperature is, confirming that Xana is having her first fever. "How's she doing, Mom?" Harley asked. "It's bad, honey. Xana's having a fever." Eliza said. The others got worried. "This is all your fault, Pronto! You just had to give Xana very cold ice cream, didn't you?!" Kord exclaimed. "It's not my fault! I can't help it as I can't say no due to Xana's cuteness!" Pronto exclaimed. "Stop it! This is not the time to argue." Yu Jie said. Just then, Xana started to fuss and cry due to her fever. "Oh, it's okay, baby. Don't cry." Eliza said, trying to calm her down. But no avail.
"Mom, I could use Ping to cure her fever if you'd like." Harley suggested. "No, Harley. I want Xana to take some medicine instead." Eliza said. She went to the cabinet and got out some baby medicine bottles. As she started mixing them together, Xana continued to fuss and cry as her fever was getting a bit bad to handle. "Shh. It's okay, Xana. You're gonna be okay." Harley said, trying to calm his baby sister down. Eliza finished mixing the medicines together and brought it in. She poured it into a tiny cup and brought it over to Xana. "Okay, sweetie, open wide." She said, holding out the cup. But Xana turned her head, not liking the medicine. "Xana, you have to take it." Eliza said. But Xana shook her head, not wanting to take it. "Xana, it's okay to not liking the medicine, but this is the only way to cure your fever. If you don't take it, you won't get better." Harley said. Xana looked up at her older brother for a moment before looking back at her mother, who gave her a courage smile. With enough courage, Xana drank the medicine, and her family feels proud of her.
After Xana took her first medicine, Harley took care of her as she recovers from her fever. Harley showed her a photo album that holds pictures of him and Eli with their childhood friends from the Surface. "Now, Xana, these are me and Eli's most closest friends from the Surface. That's Vert Wheeler and his sister, Olivia. They have a passion for hot wheels." Harley explained. Xana cooed in confusion. "That's means they like fast cars." Xana cooed, understanding. "Their dad was a professional racer before he disappeared a few years ago. And that here's Maxwell McGrath and his quintuplet cousins, Vandana, Wandella, Xena, Yeager and Zad Ferrus. They're a great bunch. Max is wicked smart. He built a fully functional robot in school. I remember this one time, we pulled a prank on the quintuplets' father." Xana giggled at the thought of that. "Yeah. We haven't seen any of them for 10 years. Eli and I really miss them." Harley said with sadness. Xana cuddled her brother in comfort. "Thanks, sis. But you know, something tells me that we just might see them again someday. And hopefully you get to meet them too." Harley said.
A few days later, Xana's fever was cured and she was all better. The Shane Gang was relieved by this. "Make a note to not give Xana anymore ice cream, even if she gives off that cuteness look." Kord said. Xana played with the slugs and pets, playfully chasing the slugs while riding Boötes and being playfully chased by the bigger pets.
