Warmaster of Gaeabrande, Subordinate of Zenos Road

Wohlks Roseguard

The Final battle against the demonified Wohlks started out hard and fast, as Wholks wasted no time in attacking. Every strike from him using God Eater was deadly, as each swing of his sword could cut away the land. Kazuma and Seiya had to be incredibly careful around him, because if they die at the sword's hands, there were no more chances for them to reincarnate.

"How does it feel to be a coward and traitor for demonic power?" Yuri asked.

"Don't assume to have me figured out!" Wohlks said as he unleashed a Massive Evil Light on to the group.

"Watch out!" Ethox said as he jumped over the attack, narrowly avoiding it by the skin of his teeth. "Holy…just one of those attacks would kill any of us if they get a direct hit! Just focus on dodging, and hit him if you can get away with it!"

"Kazuma, I can't think of no better time than now for one of your sneaky plans!" Megumin said as the group continued to fight while dodging, Yunyun carrying her. "Also, I want my explosion spell back, so give it."

"Talk to the broken railgun!" Kazuma said, pointing to the broken weapon. "But even with all of us together, we can't even get close to this guy! C'mon, think! He's gotta have a weakness…!"

"He's the Great Warmaster! He's seen plenty of tactics in his time!" Rista said. "There's no way we'll be able to catch him off guard, even with all of us together."

"Yes…you are all…" Wohlks said before a wave of ice cut his path away from them. "What is this?"

"Oh my…don't you…look absolutely foolish." a voice laughed as standing nearby were Wiz and Vanir.

"Former demon generals. You'll die here along with these so-called heroes." Wohlks said before seeing two figures jumping up as he quickly guarded to see the figures were Theo and Ethox.

"Sorry…but we have way too much to do to die here." Theo said.

"We're not going to let it end here…I refuse to let it end here!" Ethox added. "I won't give up!"

"Neither will I." Seiya said as he joined the two, rolling up his sleeves. "I was hoping to save this for Zenos, but…" he continued as several dozen rings lined his arms.

"Rings? What are those…?" Rista asked before Seiya began taking them off one by one, each of them falling to the ground with a heavy thud. "When did you get all those things?!"

"I heard some people in the Hero Alliance use these for training." Seiya said as he finished removing the rings. "So I started wearing these after we got the deadline. Ever since then…I haven't been able to go all out."

"So you're finally unleashing your true power, I see." Wohlks said. "So tell me, Cautious Hero…what inconceivable strategy do you have now?"

"...I don't have one myself." Seiya said. "I'm putting all my trust in the guild master and the team leader. Theo, Ethox, I'll follow your lead."

"You…You got it!" Ethox said in determination. "We'll win this together! All of us!"

"Hey, don't count the rest of us out!" Nemo said. "If we can't catch him off guard, then we'll just break that guard down! Who's with me?!"

All members of the guild cheered as they joined in the fray against the former hero king.

Wohlks clashed against both Theo and Ethox's keyblades with God Eater, the two brothers fighting side by side, covering each other against Wholks. "How are you two…"

"Ever since we've met, we've always fought as a tag team. Meaning…we know how to coordinate with each other!" Theo said as he landed a hit on the man's leg.

"It won't do you good for long! Style: Evil Light." Wohlks announced as several black symbols appeared over his head. His arms then became blurs as he swung God Eater at blazing speeds, nearly overwhelming the two brothers.

"Eternal Sword…EX!" Ethox declared as he became faster as well, letting him keep up with Wohlks attacks.

"High Speed!" Theo said as his movements also became faster as the three sword fighters were locked in equal combat once again. "Anything you can do…"

"We can do better!" Ethox said as both brothers performed a x-slash on the madman's chest.

Wohlks stumbled back before regaining his bearings, before he prepared to strike again. But this time, Shez intervened and blocked with both his swords.

"Hey, don't forget about us, old timer!" Shez said before pushing Wohlks back, allowing Edelgard and Dimitri to rush in. Dimitri capitalized on the opening by unleashing Areadbhar's unique Combat Art, Atrocity by launching Wohlks into the air before slamming him back down. Edelgard followed up with Flickering Flower by breaking Wohlks' stance before throwing Labraunda at him as it soon returned to her after.

"Don't let up! Fight dirty, swarm this dude!" DJ said as he ran in, saws spinning as he swung them at the warmaster, who blocked them with his sword.

"Those little machines won't help you!" Wholks declared. "You think running straight at me will work?"

"It's called distracting." DJ smirked. "Yuri, hit 'em!"

"With pleasure." Yuri said. "What are you staring at?" he asked before launching Wohlks into the air with his sword before throwing a fusillade of magic knives at him before leaping into the air. "Bow before me!" he said, launching one last knife as it engulfed Wohlks in a burst of energy.

The warmaster emerged from the burst, his hair singed and his body smoking, yet still standing.

"Man, you are just a glutton for punishment, aren't you!" Ultra said.

"I'll admit that you're all strong…but not strong enough. I've already adapted." Wohlks said as his body unleashed an aura so strong, it sent the group flying back a few feet.

"What the-?! Okay, there's no way he was that strong a few minutes ago!" Kazuma said. "Rosalie, what's up with this!?"

"One of my father's skills…it allows his stats to go up the longer a battle goes on." Rosalie said. "The longer the fight, the more powerful he becomes."

"Oh great, so he was letting us beat on him while he waited for his power boost. Cheap tactic using sonova gun…" Nemo murmured.

"Well, it's not like this fight was fair at all…" Michiru said.

"I've enjoyed this fight, truly…but I have to put an end to it now." Wohlks said, as he prepared to swing his glowing sword. "I'll be sure to tell your loved ones that you died standing. It's the least I can do!" he declared as he swung down, a huge wave of demonic energy shooting out of the sword and straight towards the group.

"We'd better RUN!" Grantz suggested quickly as the group split off to avoid the attack…except for Seiya, who stood there.

"Seiya, move!" Ethox said.

"...No." Seiya replied as he moved just enough, then stuck his arm out, letting the attack hit it, ripping it off his body.

"SEIYA!" the group exclaimed in unison.

"No…something's wrong. Why would you let your arm be cut by the attack? That's not like you at all." Wohlks said.

"No…it's not." Seiya said. "But it worked. Now…I'm not the only one who's missing an arm."

Just then, the arm Wohlks was using to hold God Eater was ripped from his body, falling to the ground.

"What?! But how?" Wohlks asked. "When did you get a skill that lets you reflect damage? Only a god could have such a-!"

"You stupid, bro? It's a Pokémon move." Seiya stated.

"...How did you learn a Pokémon move?!" Ultra exclaimed.

"I saw that Anarchy kid's Perfect Link use it during the second PLT. I decided to try and learn it, so I went out a bought a disk for it, then put it into the Horizon's computer. After I read over the data, I managed to copy it after a week or two of trying."

"...And that worked? How did that work?" Edelgard asked.

"It's Seiya, don't question it." the group said in unison.

"Everyone, we need to end this now!" Ethox said. "Everyone, use your strongest attacks all at once! We'll make something so big his adaptation skill won't be able to keep up!"

The group prepared their ultimate attacks as Seiya, joined by Theo and Ethox once more, charged towards the warmaster.

"I may have no sword, so I'll just use my fists!" Wohlks declared as he threw a punch towards the trio.

"100%...Phoenix Thrust!"

"Unparraleled Eastern Arts: Tiger Destruction!"

"Combat of the Stars: Cosmic Slash!"

Wohlks was hit by all three slashes, as he was barely able to hang on. "I can still hit one of you… die!" he roared, preparing to strike, but then…

…the rest of the attacks hit.

"Ugh….ugh…." Wohlks groaned before he collapsed right onto his back on the ground.

(End song)

"Is he dead?" Darkness asked.

The group then heard a groan as they saw Wohlks was still alive, though back to his old age, and in critical condition. It was clear he wouldn't survive for long.

"You all…never before have I witnessed such power." Wohlks coughed. "You truly deserve to be called heroes of legend."

"Man, Seiya, you let your own arm get torn off to get this guy? Hardcore, dude." Kazuma said.

"Don't be ridiculous. I wouldn't have let my arm get torn off if we couldn't put it back on." Seiya scoffed. "Rista, you've been practicing since the Baker House, right? Get over here and fix this."

"R-Right!" Rista said.

Ethox then looked towards Rosalie, who had a torrent of emotions present on her face. "Hey…maybe you should talk to your dad."

"He…He's not my father! He lost that right when he sold his soul to the Demon Lord!" Rosalie said. "He…he betrayed everything he stood for…and for what?! For power?!"

"...You won't know until you ask him." Seiya said. "If you have anything you want to say to him…you're running out of time."

Rosalie considered the Cautious Hero's words, then walked up to her dying father. "Just tell me…why? Why did you betray us…betray me?" she asked, tears in her eyes.

"I…I was a coward." Wohlks said in shame and regret. "Dying, I was fine with. Dying against Zenos Road…I could have lived with that. But the one thing I feared, more than anything…was leaving you alone…before you felt you were ready to take my place."

Rosalie was shocked at this, her body jerking back. "You…did this for me?" she asked, her voice welling up in sadness.

"I know…you always go charging into battle, because you want to prove you deserve to succeed me, most of all to yourself. I…I couldn't die…and leave you to take a position you couldn't handle. So…I let myself become a pawn to Zenos…so I could be there for as long as you needed me. Perhaps, I thought…you could do what I could not."

Rosalie's tears began to fall. "All this time…I kept pushing myself…pushing everyone else to do better than we could. I've…I've gotten good soldiers killed. I…I could never be better than you!" she cried. "What makes you think I could ever surpass you?! Why did I ever think I could?!"

"...You…already have." Wohlks smiled up at her. "I'm sorry I can't be there with you at the end…but I know our world…this alliance…are in good hands. You…no longer have to force yourself to emulate me. You…are so much stronger…than I ever was…"

"Father…" Rosalie said, as she took her father's remaining hand and held it.

"Rosalie… just know.. That I always… loved…" Wohlks said, but before he could finish.

"Are you done yet?" a new voice asked.

Before the group could turn to the source of the voice, a black hand grabbed Wohlks by the neck and dragged him away…straight into the grasp of Verde Osborne, who stood alongside his fellow Heavenly Kings and their master.

"Zenos Road!" Mirror Match exclaimed.

"Well done, Fatebreakers and friends." Zenos said. "My demonic rival, Lucifer Crowe…The tyrant reborn as a demon, Raven King…the King of Liberation Nemesis…and now, the Warmaster of Gaeabrande, Wohlks Roseguard. Four powerful foes have fallen at your hands…leaving four powerful souls behind."

"Give him BACK!" Rosalie roared in raged as she charged the five demons.

"Evil Eye." Eraser Kaiser said, freezing her and the rest of the group in place.

"Foolish princess…that soul is now mine, as are the ones of the others you people slayed. With their demise, I am now complete!" Zenos Road said as he laughed.

"Bastard! He wasn't just biding his time with random plans! Lucifer, the Raven King, Nemesis, Wholks… he was banking on us to defeat them all this whole time so that he could use their souls to regain his full power!" Kazuma said.

"Indeed. And I must thank you ever so much for your hard work. I think I will indulge myself. Say…wiping out every human in Gaeabrande. That sounds like a good celebration." Zenos Road said. "But first…let me show you the folly of your actions!"

With that, Zenos concentrated as the soul of Wohlks Roseguard, the man's body going limp as the soul flowed into Zenos's capsule. The sphere then began to crack, then shattered, as a bright, black light overtook the guild's eyes. When it faded, Zenos Road stood again, with his complete body. His full power…had returned.

"And now, I take my leave. It's time I take the world that I was forced to leave behind back. Weep, citizens of Gaeabrande…Zenos Road, the Cockroach Demon Lord…has returned!" he laughed as he and the Heavenly Kings vanished.

"...I can't believe that title stuck with him." Sentibug said.

"I can't believe he's actually using it as a mark of pride." Verde agreed as they vanished.

"No!" Rosalie said as everyone was unfrozen. "We…failed."

"We…we're all the way back at square one!" Rista said, collapsing to her knees. "We…we can't stop him now…we lost…I failed…" she said in despair.

"So…anyone up for some dinner?" Theo asked as he was not shaken up.

"Theo! Gaeabrande is on the verge of a demon lord conquering it and Rista's about to lose her godhood! How can you be so calm at a time like this?!" Ethox asked angrily.

"Cause he's not going to kill even one citizen once he returns home." Theo said.

"...Eh?" Ethox asked, his anger giving way to confusion.

"In fact, he should be greeted with a special guest…right about now." Theo said as a portal opened. "Shall we watch?"

"Alright, here's the checklist. First, the four of us will rampage across Gaebrande, wiping out the civilizations who opposed us. Then, we'll need to head to the Unified Demonic Realm to pick up a new army. Then, if we have time, we'll have to figure out how to get young Tormal out of the Lost Universe. He'll make a fine subordinate while he gets back on his feet."

"We're arriving back now." Sentibug said as they arrrived the five appeared back in the throne room of Zenos' castle.

"Now for a quick sit in…huh?" Zenos said, seeing someone already in it.

"Well…surprised to see you here…my senior." a voice said as Ainz was sitting in the throne.

"...Satou Satazuki." Zenos said. "I assume you have a good reason for sitting on my throne?"

"I think you mean my throne. After all…I did just conquer your land." Ainz said.

"Is that so?" Zenos asked, not looking bothered in the slightest. "I see…and you decided to sit in my throne and wait for my return?"

"Well, it is more dramatic that way." a voice said as a certain slime walked out from behind the throne, his presence being the one to put the group on edge.

"Rimuru Tempest?! What is he doing here?!" Eveline asked.

"I think it's obvious. This was a joint operation. Didn't it seem strange that members from neither my kingdom or Ainz accompanied Mythos Hearts or the Fatebreakers?" Rimuru asked.

"They tricked us! They had a strategy to corner us all along! They knew we would return to Gaeabrande once Lord Zenos returned to full power!" Eraser Kaiser realized.

"A foolish mistake!" Verde declared, drawing his sword. "Powerful you may be, but there are only two of you! And Lord Zenos is more powerful than you, Ainz Ooal Gown! Even you must realize that!"

"Hmm…that is true. A Demon Lord and a Lich, both from S-Class worlds? That is a matchup I'd bet against myself." Ainz said. "Of course, we didn't come alone." he said.

"So…what was that about being stronger than Lord Ainz?" a voice said. The five demons turned around to see all of Ainz and Rimuru's subordinates, none of them looking happy to see them.

"All the Floor Guardians?! And Tempest's most trusted retainers?!" Sentibug said.

"I think we might be in big trouble…" Eveline gulped.

"...Everyone, we're leaving." Zenos Road said as he quickly conjured a portal. "RUN LIKE THE WIND!" he screamed as the Heavenly Kings ran through the portal.

"I'll take all of you on…!" Verde began to declare before Sentibug's yo-yo came back out, wrapped around the Goblin Paladin, and yanked him through before it closed.

"Ha! They ran like cowards." Gobta said.

"It's still too early to celebrate. It won't be over until we actually destroy old Zenny." Rimuru said.

"But where could they have run away to? Anywhere in the multiverse is a good place for them to hide out and rally." Mare said.

"One place comes to mind. Hope to that self proclaimed god." Ainz said.

"The same one who powered up Clayman at Walpurgis?" Rimuru said.

"The very same." Ainz confirmed. "I do recall Ethox saying that he was an ally of Ehto. He may be willing to help one of his former subordinates. Especially if it means bringing back the one who defied him back to his territory."

"We'd better contact Tanya and tell her the news." Shuna said.

"No need." Tanya said as the party had soon arrived. "We're already here."

"So, you saw everything then?" Benimaru asked.

"Theo had us watch as the trap was sprung." Tanya said. "I suspected Zenos Road would choose my world as the place to rally for his final stand. If he thinks he can seek shelter with Being X, he'd better think again. I'll take the Fatebreakers and go on ahead to the Empire, and rendezvous with a certain party I contacted before we ventured to Megumin's village."

"You called backup too? Who'd you call up?" Ethox asked.

"Ethox, you know there was only one out of the many teams in the Hero Alliance I could ask to throw themselves into a warzone as brutal as my world." Tanya reminded.

"Oh…them!" Ethox remembered, smiling. "Alright! Everyone, get ready! This next adventure is going to be the one where we end Zenos Road!"

And so…the Fatebreakers prepare for their final battle with Zenos Road and his Heavenly Kings. What awaits them when they return to the world of the Devil of the Rhine? Only time will tell…
