AN: After yet again, of forgetting about another story I started. I return, I have no excuses for leaving this unattended for so long. I deeply apologize. So, as a gift I will give another chapter

Chapter 2: Thinking

*BEEP, BEE-*

The exhausted looking Challenger wasted no time in turning of the alarm. Picking up his phone he starts his mourning routine by checking for any notifications.

Damn, I think I only got a couple hours of sleep...

Yawning widely, Bolt rolled of his mattress. Opening the door he was greeted by a wonderful smell of Bacon and Eggs. He rolled into the living room part of the small apartment seeing his roommate again cooking breakfast.

"Mourning Bo-" He stopped mid sentence, seeing the look on his friend's face.

"You good?"

"Yeah, I'm fine"

"You don't look fine to me, you look like hell", Bolt sighed at his friend's concern.

"I couldn't sleep because I got an email last night. It was from a chairmen of a company that sponsors the Piston Cup circuit. He wants me to come out to Arizona for a combine.", He admits

Mike quickly turned around and speed to his friend, eyes lit up with excitement.

"Dude, why are you sad about it? It's a once in a lifetime opportunity!"

Bolt jumped at his friend's sudden movements, but looked down.

"Trust me part of me is very excited to get another opportunity at racing, but the other part of me doesn't trust myself to keep it from happening again"

Mike remembered what "it" was. He slowly backed away giving him a sympathetic look.

"Listen man, I get that you're worried about it happening again. But it's not worth missing something like this."

That didn't seem to help as Bolt kept looking at the ground.

"Anyways, when does it start?" Mike asks, changing the subject.

"August 18th, I need to ask how long it will be so I can get a timeframe" Bolt says, finally looking up from the floor.

"You might have to find that out later" Mike says pointing to the Microwave clock. It read 9:50

"Holy shit!" Bolt exclaimed realizing he has 10 minutes to get to work. The drive there is about 20 minutes give or take traffic.

Zipping to the fridge, he grabbed a bagel and sped out the door.

I didn't even notice how

*Timeskip*

Driving in front of the building Bolt checked his phone.

10:17, god damnit

Driving through the doors of the office complex he was met by a large 2006 Ford Explorer. He was had a black and white paint job with a light bar on his roof.On the side of him was large badge with 'Campus Security' in the middle of it.

The Ford was older looking with pain chipping off of his front bumper. His deep tired looking eyes locking with Bolt's.

"You're late.", The Explorer said in a gruff voice.

"Yeah, that's my fault, got caught up with my roommate", Bolt explains.

"It's your 5th time this month Rodgers, I really don't want to have to write you up for this"

"Walter, just give me one more chance I promise I won't be late again!", Bolt pleaded.

Walter lets out a chuckle, "I can't remember if you said that your second or third time coming in late"

Bolt gives the SUV a little smile as he thinks back to the email he received.

"Hey Walt, could I ask you something?", Bolt asks.

"You can ask while we watch the cameras in the office. Also, put your badge on"

Fumbling in his compartment, Bolt puts on his badge as he and Walter drive into the small office off to the side of the main lobby.

"What'd you want to ask?" Walter asks, parking in front of a set of camera recordings.

Bolt hesitates for a moment before speaking, "I was invited to the Piston Cup combine, it's going to be in August, I was wondering if you would give me some time off then"

Almost spitting out his coffee, Walter quickly reversed to face the muscle car.

"You serious? Of course, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity!"

"Yeah a lot of people have been saying that." Bolt says, thinking back to the conversation he had with Mike.

"Hey, they aren't lying. The combine is usually a few days, how many do you need?"

"Uh, I know that the combine usually takes 2 days, but I have to take into consideration travel time and other things."

"Well, just let me know when you get the dates"

With that the older SUV reversed back to his spot parking and watching the cameras.

Bolt was then left there to think about the situation. Should he go? He surely doesn't want the 'Problem of Senior Year' happen again, but he also wants to show the world that he isn't done yet.

After a few moments he comes up with a verdict.

Fuck it

*Timeskip: After Work*

"Of course the kid schedule's two days back to back" Bolt grumbles to himself.

He was currently driving down the dirt track road to their usual track. He finally got to the track to see that, shocker, Willy was late again.

Seeing the track and what he did yesterday, he got the itch to race again. As the feeling got stronger and stronger, he felt himself rolling forward.

Just a he was about to roll onto the track a horn was heard to his right towards the entrance. He looked and saw the young Nissan rolling up to him.

"What's up Bolt?!" He exclaims, driving up to him doing their tireshake.

Bolt then notices someone else, the car looked just like a Carbon copy of Willy. Instead of the baby blue Willy sported, the bigger Nissan has a sleek silver design on him.

He drove straight up to Bolt and held his tire out with a big smile.

"Hello, you must be Bolt, I'm Tim, the man from the email and this boy's proud father."

Bolt was taken aback by his straight forward ness but he reluctantly shook his tire.

"Nice to meet you Mr. Attwell, your son here is one of the best racers I've had the opportunity here to train." Bolt states, letting go of Tim's tire.

"Thank you, I've come here today to meet you. And if you don't mind to see how good you race." Tim says.

Bolt smiles proudly, "Of course, when would that be,"

"Right now, against my son, again, if you don't mind,"

Bolt looks at Willy as a shit eating grins grow across their faces.

They both line up at the starting line as Tim looks from a distance.

"Three laps, I'll count you guys off", Tim explains

Both racers nod as they put their focus on the track. Both of them revving their engines ripping through the calm evening.

"Ready...", Bolt digs his tires into the dirt, luckily bringing dirt tires this time.

"..Set..", he felt his heart beating as the thrill of the race takes over.

"...GO!", Dirt kicks up behind both cars as they take off down the track.

Hitting the first corner, they both dump their clutches taking the corner with a power slide. While Willy seems to struggle maintaining his speed a bit.

Bolt though seems to be gaining speed as he comes out of the corner, going to the second corner he does the same thing with the same result.

After lap one, the gap between Bolt and Willy was huge. It only seemed to be growing and it got bigger. After Bolt completed his final lap, Willy just had entered his third.

Winded, Bolt rolled up to Tim.

"So, how'd you like it?", Bolt asks

"It was pretty good, you looked a little rusty on some turns but it wasn't bad", Tim said

"But you'll need more than a three lap race to wow scouts, me and my peers have seen your film and expect the best out of you. You need to train your hardest for the Combine." He explains.

"Absolutely, this was a wake up call that I'm not in the best shape." Bolt admits, looking down.

"Just real happy to get this exposer to these type of racers"

"Great! I'll send you the rest of the information for it once we get back home." Tim says, waving for Willy.

"Wait you guys are leaving? I thought we were going to have a session?" Bolt asks, raising an eyelid.

"No need I just wanted to see how you raced, here for your troubles" Tim handed Bolt a white envelope.

In it was a wad of cash. Bolt looked up at Tim with a shocked look on his face.

"This would be for about 3 training days, I can't take this." Bolt says, trying to give it back.

Tim declines, "Please keep it, that's for making my son a great racer. Hopefully this will make you want to race for us"

Bolt just nodded.

"Alright, see you in a 4 months Bolt."

As they drove away from Bolt, Willy taps his dad.

"You really think he will turn the brand around in the racing world?"

"He has to, cause if he doesn't. Mood Springs is going to have a big problem."

Hey guys, thanks for waiting so long for this. I appreciate you with all your patients. Alright titan fam, peace.
