Sorry for the delay. Life and our world in general sometimes is unpredictable, thanks for sticking around.

Chapter 9

..

..Rose's Whoniverse

..

Sparks flew and the lights went dark as everyone was strewn around like rag dolls, The Doctor and Rose barely holding on. The shoddy pillar bouncing across the ground, rolling, taking out a few small trees before coming to a hard stop on a large Bunya Pine Tree.

Everyone groaned as they checked on each other, Rose asked, "is everyone alright?"

David immediately aggravated, "oh come on! What was that?" He roared checking the console, it flashed error after error, "The Tardis won't enter, she's bounced us back out. But everything was right! What's wrong with you? My last Tardis would never act like this!" It shut off completely. "Wait! No! That's not what I meant! You're a wonderful and intelligent and individual Tardis!" He backpedaled. Silence fell. The engines began to wind down to shut off as electricity crackled.

"No, no, no, no!" He took off running and dropped down below the platform, opening a grating, "no!"

"She's deactivated and she's discharged the power, she must've damaged a critical circuit, I don't think we can leave just yet. I'll have to fix it!" He said with just his head popping up over the platform floor.

Miyako made a face and looked over to Mimi who just rolled her eyes.

..

..The Doctor's Whoniverse

..

Back upstairs inside UNIT, the digidestined and the others had cleaned up and all were in a conference like room with the Doctor, Kate, and River who all seemed overly anxious.

Ruki, Haru, and Miyuki explained their situations and as Daisuke, Takeru, and Hikari caught each other up, Miu crinkled her face curiously looking back and forth to the different strangers.

Noticing her puzzled face Saki asked quietly, "what's wrong, Miu?"

She looked at Saki, then back around the room, listening to the others talk, "is it just me or did everyone just suddenly hit expert Japanese mode?" She whispered to Saki, who looked around and began to listen.

"She's right," she said loudly looking at River and Kate. "Both your accents are absolutely flawless now. What gives?"

They both giggled. The doctor stopped and explained, "oh, that's my Tardis, it's a uni-" Daisuke interrupted.

"What the hell is a Tar-" Ruki jabbed his side, "ow! What did I do?" He questioned glaring at the back of her head.

"Let him finish at least!" She told him, Hikari watched them together silently.

"Anyways, my Tardis is a universal translator, if you're around everyone telepathically is translated to each other instantly, really handy tool sometimes." The Doctor finished.

"That's so wicked!" Kaito exclaimed.

"This is crazy, it's so flawless, but how did I not notice?!" Micheal exclaimed just realizing "I know Japanese and French, but I have trouble sometimes, I hear nothing but English and have spoken nothing but English! I didn't even notice the swap." He said absolutely baffled.

Catherine was next, "oh my gosh, you're right! I haven't spoken Japanese since he got here, it's been nothing but French."

"We've got problems to deal with though, don't loose focus, as intriguing as it is." Professor Haru said.

"He's right, back to the problem at hand," The Doctor pressed, "you were first." He pointed to Ruki who simply nodded. "And she just materialized out of a purple pool of bad...stuff, right in front of you," He looked at Daisuke who then nodded, "then she's sought after and kidnapped by and evil Digitalmon..." 14 continued.

"Just Digimon." Vmon corrected.

"Right. Digimon. And after you finally find her you're slung into yet another world before his attack could reach. In this world you are sought by a being that watches the multiverse. Who says to find me. Or the endless mind that time travels. Short list. These cracks in reality Kate mentioned are surely caused from the rifts in the multiverse. And then there's you guys, you guys are some awesome small humans," he finished, his serious tone turning happy at the end, "and Digimon?" He asked Vmon making sure he got it that time getting a thumbs up and smile. "To stand up in the face of danger without hesitation. Admirable." The Doctor pointed out.

Daisuke, didn't like the praise and asked another question he's been itching to ask to change subjects, "where are Taichi and the others?" Takeru and Joe looked at each other.

"So we were telling them," pointing to the Doctor and River, "after you both disappeared into that door we were at Koushiro's, he and Ken were able to isolate the digital gate code and data from the moment you both disappeared to recreate a door. But it explosively opened when it finally worked. Iori, Ken, and Koushiro were all injured pretty badly. We even called emergency 119, which was hard to explain out of later too, but an entity took over Hikari," Takeru said as Hikari felt a bit of shame, misplaced as it may be, he got quiet when he noticed her face getting upset.

Joe took over, "but thru her it revived all their wounds and told us to find an endless mind too, it said it was time everlasting though not a multiverse guardian. But said all universes answered to time."

"So there's different beings out there trying to get us together?" Daisuke asked.

"It appears so." The Doctor said curious, deep in thought but was still there somewhat.

"But that thing, whatever it was, told us to go through the door, and find the endless mind or we'd be doomed to always go through the door. When it left, Hikari fainted and Taichi told us to stay with her and..." Joe closed his eyes, "and Koushiro was their backup plan."

"That monster, he was able to get to Koushiro without anyone, not even poor Tentomon sensing before it was too late, he was able to open the gate for us," Takeru's eyes filled with tears as his fists balled. Joe, Hikari, and Daisuke all felt upset with glassy eyes as well, trying to keep composure.

"But when we came through and went through the gate we found you, so if we found you instead, what happened to Taichi and the others?" Joe finished as the others looked to each without any answers silently.

"You're quiet," River said frankly, "you're never quiet."

The Doctor finally came back out of his thoughts, "I only know one being that goes by time everlasting. I guess we'll have to wait to see if the wolf still howls at the moon." He smiled as he fully came back.

River knew the look, "how? How do you already have a plan?" River questioned him.

Behind them Ruki stood beside Daisuke sticking close to him, feeling safer subconsciously.

"Come now, spoilers." He grinned, "now River, beautiful, will you be joining us?" He asked her.

"I was here to find you my love, my job is done, I-" She began to find an escape.

"Oh no, I haven't seen such a friendly face in years that question was rhetorical, I need a navigator," he said half jokingly half serious. She saw right through him, she knew he was lonely.

"Fine, I guess I can put things off for a little while, besides I'm now curious to this plan of yours." She said, he didn't say anything but she felt his relief as he looked back at the digidestined.

"Well, after hearing all this, there's only one thing to do. We're gonna go through the gate, enter the multiverse, save your friends, and save the multiverse... hmm, no that's not right, save existence? Yea that sounds accurate, we'll save everyone together."

"Yea!" Takuma, Daisuke, and the others all agreed.

"Never thought I'd get to say this again with these teeth but, allons y!" He exclaimed excitedly.

River laughed, "you're still like a schoolboy sometimes." She said as they began to exit the room, the destined hopping up and

Daisuke thought about the others, and Ruki. 'We're coming Taichi. She's the answer to defeating this thing... Ruki.' He looked at her as he continued, in thought, she caught him staring and he tried to play it off, badly. She rolled her eyes playfully, looking the other way.

"So about this door then," the Doctor started, "you can open it anytime, right?" He questioned as they all followed him through the lobby.

Kate had stayed in the control room, said she would be in touch, coordinating the effort against whatever comes out of the erratic doors.

Ruki realized after a minute of silence the question was directed at her, her mind was absently on something else for once. Or someone. She turned red and thought about the question, "um, I mean, so far, the last two times... that Wisemon that showed up also said I would never control it without Renamon." She said sadly.

"That's your Digimon partner I take it?" The Doctor said stopping to turn and look at her, "I promise, I'll help you find her, and together we'll all defeat this enemy."

Caught off guard by his forwardness she could only nod.

They were outside, finally in sight of his Tardis, sparking the question from Daisuke, "oh yea, what the hell did you appear in? A police box? What is that?" He said confused.

"We'll, Time and Relative Dimension in Space is what it stands for, but in short it is my ship, that will take us anywhere in time or space."

Takeru looked at is suspiciously. While Meiko and Hikari looked at each other and reading each other almost simultaneously said, "how will anyone fit in there?"

He grinned as he turned and leaned against it, with the snap of a finger the doors cracked open, revealing a beautiful and enormous bridge. "She's bigger on the inside." He grinned as River rolled her eyes.

She entered, "I see you've redecorated."

He dismissed the comment, walking to the console he asked Ruki as she followed, "can you open one again for me? I should be able to work out a way to match the frequency and we should be able to pass right through, the Tardis won't be happy but she's been through worse." He patted her console. The computer shut down. He stopped. "...I" It cut back on before he could speak.

"Nevermind, the question stands." The Doctor said, Ruki just nodded quietly.

"It really feels weird in here," Vmon said, as they all entered the Tardis, all the Digimon agreed as they entered.

"You're all from different realities, the Tardis doesn't like it, she accepts it but because you're digital beings likely on the wavelengths she operates on, then you're going to feel those feelings much more strongly." The Doctor told them.

"I've got a computer with..." she paused and her heart hurt as she continued, "Koushiro's network." Hikari told them all. She looked at Takuma, his friends, and their Digimon, "it's a private network Koushiro created for our Digimon that's local to this computer only. They can rest and recover."

Miyuki nodded to the others, of course Renamon, "I'm fine." He said, arms crossed, "I'll stay with Miyuki."

"Renamon, go, rest, you'll be useless without any energy." She said, forcing him to accept her view.

"I understand." He said as they all entered the network as Hikari opened the door.

"Ok, let's get that door open and see what I can do!" The Doctor said typing away.

..

..Tamer-verse Digital World

..

Ryo started to stir, he vision was blurry each time he opened his eyes, his head was pounding still, he felt like he had been training all night for two days straight. His body ached as he tried to sit up, his arm screaming as he brought it up to rub his blurry eyes. Finally he was able to look around as the doorknob turned with an odd click and Gennai entered the room.

He jumped slightly at the sight of Ryo, "you're up? How are you feeling?"

"Like shit." Ryo said truthfully with heavy eyes. He sat up to the edge of the bed, "how long was I out?"

"A few hours at the most, I was able to do some research on multiverses and time as a being. I didn't come up with much except a book I'm trying to translate, I was just taking a break to check on you. But it mentions both multiverses and a being called a time master I think..." He paused, "you look pale, do you want some water or-" Ryo stopped him.

"No I think I'm ok, I think I just overloaded. Once the memories started they wouldn't stop..." He said sadly.

"So you remember-" he was interrupted again.

"Yea, everything. Almost like two entire lives in one head. I remember growing up in both worlds, taste it, smell... let's just focus on this right now. You said a book?" Ryo stood up, brushing off his pain.

"If you're sure, come on, I'll show you." Gennai turned and started away, looking back, knowing the boy was hurting, but too proud to admit it.

They walked slowly out of the room and down the hallway to the computer room again, but as they walked in the room, Ryo felt a presence.

"What's this? Who's there?" He questioned, grabbing Gennai to stop him from going further.

The book on the table glowed, the book flipped open as a wind blew it out of nowhere to a page with a picture of an odd figure. The picture now began to glow. Ryo readied himself for a fight. As the light flashed brightly a figure appeared over the book. It was a hooded little figure with yellow eyes.

"Ryo Akiyama." He said cheerily, you could hear the smile if he had one.

Ryo still suspiciously said, "how do you know me?"

"And why are you living in a book in my library?" Gennai questioned.

"I am Wisemon. This book is my vessel in every universe, I can see each universe from these books. I see their past, their present, and their future. And the future for everyone has changed. If we don't act quickly they will all go dark. Ryo you must find the power the ancients locked away in this universe, it's yours to harness. It will unlock your unlimited potential. And once your partner finds you the only limit to your power is your imagination." He says, looking to Gennai he continues.

"You, the Guardians have been forced into one, they were originally fractured to balance the universes, but someone has found their original universe and taken control. They won't be helpful. However, have you ever wondered who you were modeled after?" The being asked.

Ryo looked back to Gennai, who looked confused, "what does that have to do with this crisis?" He questioned back.

"Everything. Follow yourself. Find the ancients. And when the time comes the others will find you." Wisemon said as his light began to fade.

Ryo and Gennai looked at each other. At the same time they asked separately;

"Wait so where do I find this power?"

"Follow myself how?"

Simultaneously they then asked, "who are the ancients? And who will find us?!" They both asked frustrated.

The book slammed shut before he answered anything else though.

The two stood, visibly irritated, silently for a few moments.

Finally Gennai spoke, "I guess let's start for looking for Ancients, they obviously have a power locked away somewhere." He walked over to a computer and sat down.

Ryo sighed, "yaaaay more research," he said sarcastically as he sat at another console and joined Gennai. "Where's you clou- Nevermind. Your records aren't searchable?" He questioned, looking around the screen.

"Do you see my wonderful team of hardworking people..." Gennai retorted sarcastically. "There is hundreds of thousands of years of records to keep up with. Not like humans fractional two or three thousand. It's hard to organize it all. You could read it for a lifetime and not read it all, it's hard enough indexing all that, creating a new program to search through such a massive database would crash the best computer humans have."

Ryo quietly tucked his head back behind the screen and sighed, "so just pick a spot and start reading?"

"Now you got it kid." He click and started going thru data.

Ryo rubbed his eyes and sighed in frustration as he began scrolling, "don't call me kid, old man.

"So...is it the first internet connection, the first computer, the first motherboard chip, the first processor. What's ancient for Digimon?" Ryo questioned.

"I don't know. But I'm just going to start looking at the ends, it either going to be really new or really old." Gennai scrolled, Ryo did the same and shook his head as the room grew silent.

..

..The Doctor's Whoniverse

..

The Tardis had moved, and after a mild freak out from Joe, the destined were back on track, outside it was somewhere with plenty of empty space, an open field.

Ruki was outside the door, the others all stood behind her. Hikari and Meiko watched as Ruki grabbed Daisuke's hand. Squeezing it tightly. They could both tell they were getting close. Hikari was hopeful he would find someone, but hadn't expected him to move on so soon. But she shook it off, there wasn't time.

Ruki began the song. 'Her voice is pretty.' Hikari thought.

Hikari, Takeru, Joe, Meiko, Michael, Catherine, Takuma, Kaito, Miyuki, Saki, Miu, and Haru all stood behind them, emotions rising up with her words, the energy of the room crackled, sparked and finally ignited into a solid mirror like pool. They all stared, the Doctor was inside, working away.

"Alright, concentrate, hold the door open as long as possible!" The Doctor yelled from inside at his console.

Ruki looked at Daisuke who looked back at her. 'Why do I feel safe with him so easily. I've never felt this way' The door wavered. She put the thoughts away, squeezed his hand and closed her eyes concentrating, hearing the Doctor's voice she calmed her mind and focused. The door solidified. Takeru and Joe walked slowly to the door.

"This door is completely different from the gate program one. It's more stable looking, calm in a way compared to the other." Takeru said, staring into the mirror-like purple pool of energy.

"It doesn't blast into existence." Hikari said behind them.

Ruki let out a groan and started to fall, Daisuke pull her hand and grabbed her up before she fell, the door snapped shut as soon as she started to fall.

"I'm ok, I'm ok, I'm just tired." Ruki said breathing heavily, leaning on Daisuke.

"That's ok, I got what I needed. Are you ok?" He asked as he waived a device like a wand over her body, it emitted a strange noise.

The other's curiosity peaked as they watched, finally Takuma and Kaito looked at each other before Kaito bluntly asked. "What the hell is that thing?"

"It's a screwdriver, hmm," he looked at it and suddenly turned back and walked to the console, changing subject.

Everyone's confused face was unable to ask before he said.

"I think I've got enough data to prepare the Tardis, give me some time. If you all want, down that way," he pointed, "are some rooms, perhaps you should all rest while you can. Maybe change or shower, the Tardis has an excellent wardrobe selection." He said.

Everyone immediately took him up on the offer, it had been hours since they all went through the door, already exhausted when they did.

As they walked out, only River and the Doctor were left. He side-eyed her staring at him, trying to ignore her finally admitting defeat. He looked at her, "what?"

She moves her face into a disapproving look as he asks again, "what?!"

Loosing patience she crossed her arms, "WHAT?!"

She sighed in frustration turning around, "fine don't tell me, but I know you're hiding something." She walked off agitated.

The Doctor stood looking at the console, his thoughts running, 'her universe must have them. But born on Earth? It makes no sense...' He was definitely troubled but knew there were other things to be done, the answers would have to wait. He continued working silently.

..

Takeru and Hikari were first to pick a room, Takeru sat in a chair while Hikari sat on a bed. Takeru looked at her face and finally asked with a smile, "anything good in there?" Pointing out Hikari being lost in thought. She came back to Earth a bit embarrassed.

"Sorry." She muttered.

"Don't be, a lot has happened. It's... a lot to take in." He sighed, "but you don't have to go through it alone." He told her.

Tears welled up as she looked down, "its just... I miss Taichi, I'm worried, I miss Koushiro what happened isn't fair, let's not pave over the fact we're on an alien spaceship?! As if it's not enough to be in a different universe, I just-" the tears were falling now as she looked up. Takeru immediately stood up and moved closer to comfort her as she finally let it sink in, "it's not fair, we were all right there, how could we not stop it!" He sat next to her, an arm around her.

"You can't think that, we were all there, there was nothing anyone could've done." He said. She turned into his arms and cried on his chest.

He held onto her a while, his own eyes red, upset over his friend. They sat there in bed, minutes passed holding onto each other, as she calmed she finally spoke.

"I miss my kitty, my mom better be giving her extra love like I told her." She said holding onto him. He smiled and chuckled.

"I'm sure of this at least, Lulu demands only the best love at all woke times that aren't involving food. Your mom has absolutely no choice but to cave to her demands!" He laughed and she joined, the first smile on her face in a little while. They laid like that for awhile.

..

Daisuke walked with Ruki, she found a corridor no one else had been in.

"I..." Daisuke wasn't sure what to say. "I mean."

Ruki rolled her eyes, "spit it out goggles 2." She grinned walking beside him.

He sheepishly stammered "I just I can stay in the room next to you or ya'know whatever you-" she stopped walking he stopped mid sentence.

"Did I say something wrong?" He asked nervously.

She took a deep breath, "I keep thinking about it, I can't keep tiptoeing around it. We might not have another chance to talk about it. When I take your hand, I can feel-" he interrupted.

"Our souls become one.." He said.

She turned red, "I can't believe I'm saying this to a tv character but... I've never felt a connection like that, I can feel your feelings." She said looking up in his eyes.

"I feel it too, I... I was actually in a pretty bad place when I met you I was going through a lot. My head was all over the place, but now..." he said, looking down at her, they had inched closer, "now all I can think about, all I dream about is making you smile, it's intoxicating really." They were very close, she quietly smiled.

"You're such a romantic about it." She said rolling her purple eyes, feeling intoxicated herself, 'he is devilishly handsome for an anime character', she thought to herself.

It almost seemed like they were leaning in as Miu rounded the corner and her eyes went wide, "oop, I'm uh..I um I mean. I...this way." She turned and quickly walked the other direction beet red.

Ruki backed up and smiled, as Daisuke turned back to look back at her, missing the opportunity he felt. "You should stay here, in this room." She turned and opened a door behind her.

"And which room are you going with?" He asked as he looked around inside the room.

She walked inside in front of him to the bathroom and started taking her shirt off, "this one. Now shut the door." She turned back and grinned as she her the door close. "And join me in the shower." She turned and walked in the bathroom her bottoms hitting the floor. Daisuke's heart fluttered and he pinched himself one good time before following instructions.

..

Joe sat on the edge of the bed, Gomamon beside him, even though it felt weird there he could feel his partner needed him. They just sat there silently, as Joe held his friend. Gomamon knew what he needed was someone to comfort him.

..

Michael and Catherine, smiled and waved to Miyuki and the other as they walked through a corridor and around the corner. They continued for awhile, away from everyone they finally entered a room together. Michael looked around before shutting and locking the door and looking back at Catherine.

"Where the fuck are we?" Catherine hissed.

"Does it look like I know? The boss said follow them and contact him but what happens when we can't contact him? Now our powers don't work, we have to be too far away from him." Michael said frustrated, "we can't let them catch on, we just have to play along until they get us closer to the boss."

"You volunteered us for this, you better get us out of it." She said as she stormed away to the bathroom.

..

The others had all managed to find a place as the evening stretched out.

The Doctor worked tirelessly, River sat on the bridge with him, she fell asleep a few hours ago, it was just the Doctor up now. He finally finished writing the last of the programming, walked around and checked all the settings, double checked everything. 'This is exciting.' He smiled, 'I actually don't know what's going to happen.' He laughed a little giddily to himself. 'And there's so many questions to answer.' He ran his hand across the terminal. 'Get us there safely and I'll get us back, I promise.' He knew she could hear his thoughts. For that matter everyone's.

'Oh, I probably should've mentioned that... Oh well it should be fine.' He looked aback at the console and began another simulation.

..

..??

..

'Every summer it's something different but this one... this one has been so quiet. Something just isn't right, it's got to be the calm before the storm. My sister thinks I'm crazy but I can feel it. Something's coming. Or someone. And I'll be ready...' A teen boy pulled his hat down some more to keep the rain away as he patrolled the dark and rainy forest in the twilight hours.

...

Till next time!
