Okok, maybe I forgot a little about this story. But I got the motivation to write a chapter after reading some comments. So far, Ash and the gang are lost and away from the path and Ash is getting worried because she's with two baby Pokemon. I know it doesn't make sense for Ash to be lost early in her Journey, but, I got inspired for this chapter because I went hiking right next to my neighborhood in the mountains of the desert and got lost for 7 hours with only my cat and two water bottles. I ended up hiking 13 miles and ended up a couple of streets away from where I started. Of course, since it was 103-degree weather ended up with insane sunburns. Not really important, but that's what I've been up to this week.

Adversity is a friendship's truest test.

Chapter Fourteen

As the forest began to quieten around us, I felt more and more anxious. There wasn't anything extremely dangerous this close to town but what if there was? The smell of the forest began to turn natural and sweet the further we got in, and I knew that the longer we continued this way the sooner we would reach Pewter and begin the steps to beginning a champion by battling Brock.

We've been walking for hours and I was sure we picked off at least twelve miles into our journey. Sweat was beginning to collect on my forehead, and my feet began to ache, but I continued to march on.

Turning around, I looked at my two youngest pokemon and noticed that they weren't beginning to look even the slightest bit fatigued. Despite our caution, they both kept looking around in wonder at the world around us.

Legolas especially looked curious, this was probably the first time he's ever seen the wilderness since he was bred in a lab. He kept picking leaves off the trees and picking up branches to stick in his mouth.

Frodo on the other hand looked far more nervous, his usual bouncing steps more slow and more focused on where he was going and keeping his tail away from the plants in our path.

In front of me, floated Sauron in his Attack Form, while he was looking out for danger, it felt more like he was doing that for me to feel better rather than out of uncomfortableness.

I wanted to sit down and take a break, but I didn't want us to let our guard down. I was about t tell everyone to sit down and take a water break, but as I was opening my mouth, I smelt a sweet scent permeating the air.

It smelt tangy and sickeningly sweet.

"Guys, I think we need to-"

Before I finished my sentence, a green vine whipped itself against me and wrapped my arms against my torso.

Screaming, I tried to wiggle away but the vines got tighter and more oppressive.

In front of us, walked out a venus flytrap monstrosity. Colored in a greenish-yellow tone, its leaves sagged against its sides and it had a gaping maw on the top of its head. It was almost 5'6 in height and had a bell-shaped body. Green little spots specked its form, and vines were coming out of its body to hold me captive.

A mechanical voice voiced out our opponent, "Victreebel, the flytrap Pokemon. This horrifying plant Pokémon attracts prey with aromatic honey, then melts them in its mouth. It's said to live in huge colonies deep in jungles, although no one has ever returned from there. The acid that has dissolved many prey becomes sweeter with each victim it eats, making it even more effective at attracting prey."

As soon as I heard my Pokedex, I struggled even more, the nauseating smell emerging from Victreebel was sickeningly sweet and a warning.

Shouts of panic came from my pokemon, but Victreebel's menacing eyes were solely focused on me. The vines were dragging me closer and closer to its maw but were slowed down by my frenzied fear.

"FRODO! USE EMBER!" I screamed, hoping desperately that he would snap out of his shock and help me escape.

Before Frodo could do anything, Sauron was already engaging in, using his move Close Combat and slashing furiously at the suffocating vines holding me captive.

The Victreebel roared in agony before I was dropped to the ground, with Legolas sprinting towards me.

Frodo seemed to snap into action after hearing the roar and helped Sauron by throwing Ember against its shaking body.

As Frodo and Sauron were attacking it, Legolas finally reached me and seemed to try helping me up with his tiny arms. His concerned face made me quickly stand up, and get into a position to help my friends.

Grabbing his shoulders, I told him, "Leggy I need you to step in and help them with this battle. If any danger comes to you, I'll recall you into your pokeball so you can be safe. "

He hesitated but once he heard Frodo's grunt of pain as a vine hit him against the ribs, he nodded and jumped into battle by trying to restrain the Victreebel.

"FRODO! SAURON! I NEED YOU TO TO TAKE HIM OUT WHILE LEGOLAS RESTRAINS HIM! USE AS MANY EMBERS AND SHADOW BALLS NEEDED TO KEEP HIM DOWN!" I shouted at them before tearing my backpack off my pack and looking for a weapon to help them.

Meowth's pokeball sat at the top, and I hesitated, before moving it aside and grabbing at my knife. I couldn't throw Meowth into this while he was disorientated and unknowing of us.

Tightly gripping the knife, I rushed into the fight to help my pokemon. While I may not have any elemental moves, there was no way in hell that I would just stand there uselessly shouting at them and not help.

Tackling Victreebel from behind, I repeatedly stabbed at any vines that began to form. Doing my best to help my pokemon while not getting in the way of their attacks. The four-on-one attack left it unable to fight back against us or focus on using a different move. It's vines eventually stopped forming after realizing the futility of them growing out to help.

It was a struggle to hold the wild pokemon down, with its struggling and the blasts of Shadow Ball hitting it, but eventually, the repeated abuse and overkill made it collapse to the floor knocked out and vulnerable.

My team and I huffed heavily for a couple of minutes, all of us sitting on the floor trying to regain our breath. The unexpected attack was the first fight for half my team, and while Sauron and Legolas weren't harmed, it seemed that Frodo took more hits from the vines than the rest of us. His sides were scratched and were likely to start bruising soon if I didn't start to spray healing potions on him.

Slowly getting us, I went to the bag laying a couple of yards away from us and rummaged to find the healing medicine. Once I grabbed it, I began to step towards Frodo before he could get into a worse state.

Kneeling down, I asked the little orange dragon a few questions, "Frodo, do you know what this is?" I shook the bottle in my hands so he knew what I was talking about. At the shake of his head, I continued. "It's a healing potion so you don't get bad bruises on your sides. I'm going to use it on you so your not in any pain. Is that okay?"

At his nod, I got closer and began to heavily spray his sides and any spot I saw any slight scratches. Once I was done spraying, I saw the medicine immediately take effect and make his scratches disappear.

Looking toward the other two members of my team, I checked them for any injuries and saw none on them. The tenderness of my stomach and ribs ached but I needed to make sure my team was safe and unharmed.

"Does anyone else need me to spray this on them?" I asked, and when they confirmed they were uninjured I began to take off my shirt, revealing my orange sports bra. Dark red lines were on my stomach chest and arms from where the Victreebel attacked me. Grabbing the potion, I began to spray everywhere I had an ache.

"Sauron, can you help me with the back? I can't reach it."

Sauron came closer, his ribbons taking the bottle out of my hands and spraying the potion across my back and arms. When he finished, I thanked him and began to methodically pack everything up.

I felt like I was still in shock from the attack and the brutality my team and I had to showcase. While Victreebel was alive, I questioned to myself if we could really just let it live. I wasn't one for violence, but no one could deny the suffocating honey scent the Victreebel displayed, showing off the scent of its murdered victims.

"What's wrong? Our enemy is defeated, and no one is facing any injuries anymore." Sauron asked, seeing my troubled face.

"It's just, can we really just leave it here?" I asked, "It has the scent of death wafting off it and it'll continue its attacks. You saw how easily it approached us to attack, what if it finds a weaker victim tomorrow and they can't beat it?"

"Then there are three choices we can take from here. First, we simply kill it and be done with it. Second, we leave it here for fate to figure out. Or we capture it and find new captors who can care for it."

They seemed simple enough options, kill it, leave it, or capture it and trade it with someone who was equipped to take care of it. But any one of them could end up being a burden and I didn't condone unnecessary murder. If we left it, we could end up being the reason why some beginner trainers end up dead, but if we captured it, we had no idea on how long he would be stuck with us.

I didn't want to have him on this team, one thieving criminal was enough and I didn't want Frodo and Legolas to be in any danger, but if I caught him, he would be a burden on food and necessities meant for my team.

Sighing, I took out an empty pokeball and tossed it against the Victreebel. His body was sucked in and the pokeball clicked without any resistance from the unconscious poison type.

He was going to be shipped off to Professor Oak's lab as soon we reached Pewder and since Professor Oak was my sponsor and held a huge ranch, he would be equipped to deal with the deadly bean sprout/venus flytrap thing before I found someone willing to trade for him or take him in.

Picking up my newest capture, I grabbed a sharpie marker out of my bag and drew a little squiggle of a bean on the top of the ball before putting it into my bag next to Meowth's pokeball.

I really need to start introducing him to my team.

Eh, he could wait.

Walking towards Legolas, I knelt in front of him and told him just how proud and thankful I was for him making sure I was okay when I was released and hugged him against my chest. He was extremely awkward about it and patted me on the back a few times before leaning away from me with heated cheeks facing another direction.

I really wanted to hug Sauron, but I still needed to figure out how to not get injured from his sides cutting me. I settled for grabbing his ribbon in my hand and thanking him for protecting everyone and saving me from the evil flytrap. His unblinking gaze settled on me before he simply told me not to worry about it and a reminder that we needed to continue on the path.

However, I still needed to thank my brave little dragon for helping save me.

Walking up to the youngest member of my team, I knelt down once again and pressed a kiss to the wide-eyed dragon's forehead. "You were really brave out there Frodo, thank you for facing your fear and attacking regardless of it. If you hadn't helped us, we would've been in a lot more danger." I squished his cheeks in my hands before smiling at him and rubbing the top of his head.

The little fire breather looked flustered at the compliments and affection before hugging my legs.

"Alright everyone, let's find the trail and continue on, if we hurry we can be in Pewter in a few days."
