PART 1: The City Of Gold

CHAPTER 12:

Annabeth landed in the river, submerging herself under the waves, as she began to swim away from Pallas, before quickly coming up for air. The Titan was still on the bridge staring at her in shock. The demigoddess slowly made her way to shore.

Her eyes widened as a blonde-haired boy landed beside her.

"Jason, what happened up there?"

He looked at Annabeth with an angry look in his eyes "Out of the demigods who went out there, so basically 10 not including hunters, only 3 survived. Perses and Pallas are too strong. We are going to need divine help to defeat them."

Annabeth's mouth dropped open in shock. "But, the gods are all with Percy right now. Take me up there, we will need to join the fighting."

Jason nodded and wrapped his arms around her waist before propelling the pair of them up to the bridge. Annabeth glanced around, dead bodies littered the bridge.

The daughter of Athena, felt tears forming in her eyes, as she recognized a 14-year-old son of Hermes, lying on the ground, a sword jutting out of his stomach. She scanned the bridge, the tears flooding from her eyes as she saw more dead demigods. Normally she wasn't this emotional, but a third war in as many years was enough to make the sanest person snap. Especially ones with such high stakes, fight and win or have the entire world destroyed. Not much of a choice.

Jason tapped Annabeth's shoulder and she turned to look where he was pointing. Perses was holding a demigod in the air, his large hands gripped around the boy's throat.

* * * * * FRAGMENTS - PART 1 * * * * *

Poseidon stood in fear as he saw Percy on the ground of the throne room, shadows wrapped around him. The sea god clenched his trident in anger, however not entirely sure how he was to help Percy get out of the precarious situation.

The other Olympians were all facing a similar dilemma, loads of power at their fingertips but no clear way to get Percy and Artemis to safety. And either falling into the pit was a significant loss for Olympus.

Athena cleared her throat and then spoke "Erebus, is this necessary? If you return both the goddess and the demigod, we will spare the lives of you and your henchmen."

Erebus chuckled "I'm the one in a position of power here, I don't particularly care if you slay the demigods under my command, it will not be too difficult a task for me to take them out of the underworld and bring them back. So how about this, I spare the lives of the demigod and the goddess, and you all surrender Olympus. Does that sound like a good deal?"

Athena glared at Erebus in frustration "Why are you doing this?"

"Your rule over the overworld has gone on for too long, it's time for those who should be in charge, to come back and rule again," Erebus stated plainly.

Suddenly before Erebus could do anything, Zeus fired his master bolt at Erebus, the weapon slammed into the primordial of shadows, who flew backward across the room, crashing into his throne, and Artemis. Poseidon scrambled to help Percy, while Zeus, Ares, and Hermes charged toward Erebus.

Hades, Demeter and Athena turned their attention to Pontus, who was waiting in the corner. Demeter drew plants out of the ground, cracking the floor even more, and attempting to trap the primordial within them. Hades had his helm of darkness on, and was invisible, while Pontus summoned massive amounts of water and formed tentacles, which kept the gods at bay.

Within a few moments, Poseidon cut the binds on Percy, allowing the boy to get to his feet and turn his attention to Erebus who was currently fighting Zeus, after wounding Ares, and throwing Hermes into a nearby wall.

While in terms of melee fighting, the two deities were evenly matched, Erebus could use his powers to a greater extent, drawing power from the darkness and forming fists from shadows, to punch Zeus. The king of the gods fired multiple bolts of lightning, but the primordial was able to land a blow on Zeus's shoulder. The god of lightning scowled and used his power of air to fly backward toward Pontus.

Percy made his way towards Erebus, a mad glint in his eyes. "You killed Annabeth, so I will slowly destroy you from the inside out."

The deity smiled and feinted a jab, before kicking Percy hard. The son of Poseidon was thrown back several feet as the Primordial walked towards him, forming soldiers out of shadows, to fight some of the Olympians.

Chronos rose from his seat and using his spear threw Artemis towards the entrance of the pit. The goddess turned and fired an arrow at Erebus. The primordial wasn't expecting the sudden attack and gritted his teeth in pain as he ripped the arrow out of his shoulder, advancing towards Percy. The son of Poseidon was getting to his feet and Erebus picked him up and tossed him at Artemis. The goddess was unable to react fast enough and the pair fell backward, directly into the entrance of the pit.

Artemis grabbed onto the ledge as Percy began to fall.

The battle began to cease as Pontus flashed away, most likely to nurse his wounds after his battle. Erebus however wasn't done, as the Goddess attempted to pull herself up he motioned to stomp on her hand. Instinctively the goddess removed it and fell into the pit.

It was just a regular Thursday, just two immortals falling into Tartarus.

The End (Of Part One)

That was one of the shortest chapters, and I did consider merging the contents with another chapter, but I felt like the endings deserved to be in a chapter of their own.

Part Two will continue where Part One ended. Percy and Artemis will be in Tartarus. Annabeth and co are defending Olympus against two titans, and maybe something more.

Before you say that Percy seemed weak, please remember that this is Erebus. And that prior to fighting against him, he had fought against some demigods and Pontus. If Artemis seemed weak, once again remember that a primordial is much more powerful than her. They will both have much more even fights against different opponents during part two.
