Neville was enjoying his time on the North Western railway but the looming doubt of his trial still weighed on his mind. Even will sitting on the harbour he was so preoccupied he didn't see Bill and Ben sneak in and try to prank him.
The two had slowly crept up and where about to blow their whistles, when Neville came back to his senses and started up, spooking the twins who blurted in panic.
"Oh I didn't see you two there." smiled Neville. "Hope I didn't spook you." he chuckled.
Bill and Ben where lost for words as Neville left with his trucks, and made his way to the yard where he found BoCo.
"High BoCo." he smiled.
"Hello Neville, have you talked to Molly."
"Yes, I saw her when she dropped of the coal."
"That was last week." sighed BoCo "You can't going on not telling her."
"Why, I don't even know If I'm staying."
BoCo's face fell.
"I don't want to, have my hopes dashed by the diesel doing poorly and me needing to be sent back."
"Let me re-frame my self, do you want to go back?"
Neville's face now fell "I do miss Jill, and Rosie. I even told Sir Topham hat about her in case he wanted a shunter."
"I heard they where sending in new type of diesel for a new trail." said BoCo.
"Well, then I guess I won't really get to see them, but I don't really won't to go back. Even though Arry and Bert are just like Titan, Mark and Lisa." he stopped and looked at BoCo "But here I have all of you to support me."
"For better or for worse, lets hope the diesel on trail that sent you here, does a good job."
Neville felt a bit better as BoCo left, but he wasn't all that happier, and even felt a little worse.
Passing down the line Neville was in his own smoke box as he carried on up the line towards Lower Suddery, his mind kept pulling him to Rosie and Jill.
"I just wish I could take all my friend's with me to Sodor." he sighed as he arrived at the station.
Sitting there it took the arrival of Edward to shake him out of his funk.
"Hello Neville, daydreaming?" he asked.
"Oh no I was just wondering, about my future."
"Looking for a happy ending are you?" smiled Edward.
"Sort off, but I'm wondering about my friends more then my self."
"Why, form what you said it, they're doing fine, Jill is safe at the harbour and you asked the Fat Controller to purchase Rosie." Comforted Edward "There is little you can do for them, except bring them here your self."
"I can't do that." Neville laughed.
"No, but it worked for Douglas, he brought Oliver over, and looked what happened there." smirked Edward.
"Well, that does make me feel a little better."
"Hay, just remember this, happy endings are about where you stop your story."
"That's really smart, so where does my story stop."
"Where do you think it should stop?" he asked.
Neville was so captivated by it he didn't noticed Edward's single turn green.
"Bye Neville." he tooted leaving the station.
"Wait." he called "Where did you hear that?"
"A very good, and old friend ounce told me that, and her name was Cleo, I still remember here as if she was still here."
"Is she dead?" asked Neville.
But Edward wasn't able to answer as he had pulled away and was already off.
Neville tried to keep a smile on his face as he carried on up the line, but he found it difficult as he mind wondered if he would stay or go, and where to end his story. That all changed when he spotted a gleam of yellow paint at Wellsworth as he made his approach, only for it be dashed when he saw red paint as well. Pulling in he heard the two talking.
"Well Molly I'm glad your taking pride in your work." he beamed.
"And James I'm happy to help you show how goods trains are not as bad as you thought."
"No they're still dirty and rancid, but I'm doing it for."
"I thought you where doing it because, your over due to take a goods train, and you woke up late and missed your opportunity to snag the coaches away form Bear or Emily."
"Yes well." Spluttered James "I know how much being a goods engine means to you."
Molly smiled, but when she saw Neville pulling in her mood soon changed, she was shocked to see him.
"Come on Molly." said James "Us splendid engines have work to do." and he pulled away.
"Be right there." called Molly
"Why are you still with him?" asked Neville.
"Look, he's been really insecure since his accident, and by being with him I'm trying to help him get over it."
"Well he doesn't treat you right."
"I'm sorry Neville, I can't leave him."
Neville sighed as Molly left to go after him, watching her leave he went to arrange his trucks in the yard, but before he could Murdoch showed up.
"Hi Neville."
"Hello Murdoch."
"I just heard some great news."
"Has that new shunter arrived."
"What, they came yesterday, Henry said he's lazy and has to be forced to work, and even tricked him to in to doing his work the other day."
Neville just laughed.
"No, the deals done, your one of us now."
"You mean."
"Yep, welcome to the North Western Railway."
Neville was beaming so much he didn't now what to say. "I think I'll end my story here." he said at last.
"What?" asked Murdoch.
"I'll have to tell you later." Neville smiled, and started to shunt his trucks in the yard.
