They worked till Saturday and finished but Grissom informed Catherine they'd be spending the weekend before flying back to be there on Monday. Sara pulled Grissom out of the hotel early on a Saturday and insisted they visit one of the open air markets. He found he wasn't disappointed as they walked around looking at various things and tasting foods. Sara found herself pausing at various booths with homemade jewelry but nothing was ever what she was looking for.

"Find anything?" Grissom asked her as they left a fourth.

"No, it's all too big. You know I try not to wear anything that hangs down because I'm constantly under cars or climbing places." She fingered the necklace she had on, the rectangle he'd given her for their six month anniversary. "How do you find the ones you get me?"

"I'm not telling."

Sara shook her head before shooting him a look of annoyance. "That's not playing fair."

"I have to have a secret or you'd buy them before I can." He brought their entwined hands up and kissed the back of hers. "Our anniversary is in just over a month."

"I know, but I don't expect anything." She smiled at him, "although, working a 419 with you sounds nice."

"That's morbid Dear."

She chuckled, "we deal with the morbid daily."

He pulled his hand from hers and held her hand up to look at her fingers. "What size ring are you? Five, six?"

"Why?" Her gaze fell on him as she pulled her hand away.

"Look, I know you don't want to get married. I know that, but a lot of partners we meet in the field have rings even if they aren't. Not today or tomorrow or even a year from now, but one day I'd like to put a ring on your finger even if it's just for commitment."

Glancing over his face for a second, she smiled. "Five and half." She then slapped his arm with her hand. "You scared the crap out of me."

"I once said I envied no one to be at war with you. That includes myself." He grasped her hand again but she pulled away and put a hand through his elbow. "Can you imagine what would happen if you went back to the lab but I never did?"

"Oh everyone would know but they wouldn't be able to prove it."

"I have no doubt."

She smirked before looking back at the area around them. "We should take a car down to Los Angeles tomorrow and have dinner with your mom. She'd love it."

"She'd ask why we did come today."

Sara smiled, "then we should. It's still early, we could make it in time for dinner and as much as I'd probably hate it, she'd love to have you go to Mass with her in the morning. We could have lunch after and then come back up."

"Did you even bring anything that is church appropriate?" He asked her cautiously.

"I brought slacks and a blouse. I figured I'd get at least one nice dinner out of you." She chuckled and watched him consider the idea. "So?"

"Let me text her and see what she has to say." He paused and pointed a finger at a booth. "That might have what you're looking for."

Sara's attention got diverted to the booth and she saw it was another jewelry seller but the woman's work was smaller than the booths previously. The diversion proved successful and she left Grissom to text his mother in peace. He sent the text and waited, all the while watching as Sara looked at several pieces. She selected one and quickly paid for it, thanking the woman as she was handed a box. "What do you think?" She asked opening the box for him to see as she returned to him.

"I think you're starting to enjoy gold and silver necklaces." He stated as he took the small golden charm between his fingers. "Golden Gate bridge.

Sara nodded as she closed the box. "Reminds me of us. Where we met. Where we are now."

"Would you let me buy you a necklace for our anniversary?" He saw her look up, "a nice one that you can wear out or to court?"

"Can I give you a price limit?" She asked gently. "Say, anything under five hundred?"

He pulled her close and kissed her, smiling as he pulled away. "You have a deal."

"I expect the receipt." She countered as they started walking again.

"I'd expect nothing less." His phone vibrated and he looked at it before sighing. "I think my mother is avoiding us." He held out the phone to Sara and the brunette read the text that his mother sent stating she already had plans.

Sara nodded. "Tell her to expect us the week of your birthday. We're coming then and she can't avoid it."

He did as she instructed and then he sighed when he got a text back. "Of course that would be what she asked next." He handed the phone off to Sara and the brunette read the text. "Sorry, my mother can go from one to a hundred in under sixty seconds."

"It's a little hard to get that in by your birthday." Sara stated and handed him the phone back. "Unless she thinks I'm pregnant now."

"I wouldn't put it past her." He spoke factually.

Sara looked straight at him. "Does she even know what an IUD is?"

"Considering they came into existence when I was in elementary, possible but not probable."

"Well I'm not telling her." Sara smirked while patting his arm with her free hand, "you can have that honor."

He glance at Sara, "no."

She laughed and reached up to brush back part of her hair. "It was worth a try."

Resting on a Sunday morning, Grissom laid in bed just watching Sara sleep beside him. She was undisturbed and peaceful, something he rarely saw but at home. He remembered calling Catherine the day of Sara's arrival and asked if she'd care if he and Sara shared a room. The woman had said it had been expected, especially when she submitted the email about sending Sara to San Francisco to Ecklie. He said he'd approve Sara's plane ticket but a second room was pushing it considering it would be wasted money. He was glad Ecklie understood even if it shocked him Ecklie had to begin with.

"Hey." He spoke softly as her eyes started to flutter open. "Good morning."

"Good morning." Sara told him before closing her eyes again. "How long have you been up?"

Reaching out to push back the hair that had fallen out of her ponytail, he spoke softly. "A few hours. I decided to watch you sleep."

"Hmm." Sara hummed and opened her eyes. "I'm guessing you wouldn't tell me if I look horrible when I sleep."

Smiling, he pulled her hand up and kissed it. "No, but you looking horrible isn't possible."

"God you're so annoying." She stated full of mirth and moved to sit up, leaning against the headboard. She reached down and ran her fingers through his curls, "you need a haircut and a trim. Your beard is getting a bit ragged."

He sat up beside her and eventually, like he expected, Sara curled up against him. "I'll take care of it when we get home."

"Hmm, I can't wait for that." She stated while rubbing his arm, "I miss Hank."

"You sure there isn't any other reason?" He asked her as Sara's hand stopped for a fraction of a second before continuing. "I thought so. What happened?"

"It's nothing." Sara told him till he pulled away and glance at her. "Trust me, it's nothing."

He watched her, "who and what?"

"Nothing, we're done so bringing it up is pointless." She sighed, "although, if I had punched someone as we left, how much do you think Ecklie would have minded?"

"If he knew half of what I've had to deal with, you punching someone when we left won't surprise him. He'd probably think someone sexually harassed you."

"You'd know about that."

"Before or after an unknown assault turns up at the ER?"

"You know the answer to the question Gil. I maybe a lot of things but I'm not a person who avoids telling my partner after the fact. If we're a team, that means you know before I go off and do something stupid." She glance at him, "mostly so you can try to talk me out of it before I actually do something stupid."

He nodded in understanding and put an arm around her, letting Sara relax. "If you ever endure any abuse, I pray it's only in Vegas. That way after you do your own damage, the entirety of PD takes over. You know between Sofia and Jim, no one would be safe."

"I know. Sofia and I have our fair share of issues but when it comes down to the team, she's CSI first and PD second. That's why I went to her after Baker left me on that roof. You should have seen the woman tear down the hall with me behind her as she went to Brass." She pulled back and looked at him for a second time. "Just so you know, she was more than willing to let you psychologically torture him before I redirected her and Brass."

"Hmm, well probably because she knew if all of you had an issue with it, I'd be livid. Which I was."

Sara leaned forward and kissed him. "So livid you failed to ignore me putting my foot down?"

"The last person to call me by my whole name was my mother. In sign. It was strange hearing you calling me by my full name and then scold me." He looked straight at her, "please don't do it again."

"I won't, at least until you ignore me telling you I handled something. Again."

He chuckled, "I guess I should have expected that from a woman who has a hot-temper."

"You've seen me lose my temper. I wasn't angry, I was annoyed."

Watching her for a few moment, he smiled. "If you're a forced to be reckoned with now, I imagine Vegas isn't prepared for the day some stranger talk's to Sara Sidle's child."

"Damn straight."

Let me know what you thought of these case chapters. It was fun writing it and I found myself happy that Grissom got upset about how Sara was belittled and how her former workplace didn't allow her thrive like she did in Las Vegas.

Next is 6x19 Spellbound, a dead psychic for Grissom and court for Sara.
