Author's Notes:

Sorry for my tardiness in releasing this chapter, I've been stuck on a few parts of this chapter as well as I've been preoccupied with other matters.

To the Guest who left a review on chapter 8: Thank you for the recommendation for a fanfic, but I don't plan on doing anything like that any time soon, maybe in the future, but Shattered Sky is my focus right now.

Chapter 10:

An Unexpected Visit

The knocks on the large wooden door resound throughout the main hall of Castle Silverclaw. Team RWBYS and Ozma immediately stop their conversation at the sound.

"Do you know who that is?" Ozma asks.

Stone begins walking to the door, "Maybe, there's a few people that can access my Castle other than me on Tarkir, Sarkhan, Narset, and-" he stops as he gets to the door and grabs the handle, pulling it open to reveal a massive dragon with feathered wings, wide curved horns and a blue spectral aura surrounding it, looking down at the Dragon in human form.

"-Ugin." Stone finishes.

"Stone…" Ugin says in a calm but serious tone, "You've been missing for a year, no one's been able to find you anywhere, just where have you been?"

"I've kinda been… busy." Stone says, Ugin looking in and seeing the rest of Team RWBYS and Ozma.

As Ugin looks at Ozma, he has a strange sense of deja vu, as if he has met this man in spectacles before. Entering the main hall he approaches Ozma, and looks him up and down, finally realizing who he is.

"Is that you Ozma?" the Spirit Dragon asks, gaining the old Planeswalkers surprise.

"I'm amazed you can recognize me Ugin, it has been a while, and I am not in the same body I was before." Ozma replies.

"Nonsense, your mana is unmistakable, although I am a bit confused on how you have been transferred into a new body." Ugin says.

"A blessing… or a curse, from a god. Every time I die I am to reincarnate into a new one" Ozpin says to the Spirit Dragon.

"A strange circumstance to be sure, but not completely unheard of. Just where have you been all this time?" Ugin asks the old Planeswalker.

"A plane known as Remnant, the same god that removed my memories and gave me the power of reincarnation created a barrier around the plane that prevents Planeswalkers from coming or going" Ozma tells the Elder Dragon. Ozma tells Ugin of his time in Remnant, his struggle with Salem, and his mission given to him by the God of Light.

Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang are in complete awe of the ghostly dragon in front of them. Stone was one thing, but this was different, at least Stone had a corporeal form. More so this dragon apparently knows the headmaster of Beacon, and that they are just chatting like old friends. Stone closes the door and walks back to the rest of his team.

"You know a ghost dragon?!" Ruby asks bewildered

"Yeah, I met Ugin a few years back. I've been working with him ever since. I go and find artifacts for him to study." Stone says, garnering Ugin's attention.

"Speaking of artifacts, before you disappeared you said you had found a particularly interesting one on Dominaria, where is it?" Ugin asks.

Stone pauses for a moment, thinking back and realizing, "OH CRAP, the Sylex! I completely forgot!" Stone says shocked.

"A Sylex?" Weiss asks, confused.

Stone composes himself a bit, "An artifact created by an ancient civilization on Dominaria that holds great destructive power, a Sylex known as the Golgothian Sylex was used during a war in the past to defeat an extraplaner threat called the Phyrexians." Stone explains.

"I had found a Sylex similar to the one used against the Phyrexians and I was taking it to Ugin for him to study, but I guess my colliding with Remnant caused me to lose my grip on it and drop it while I fell. So it's probably somewhere in the Forests near Beacon." Stone says, disappointed in his forgetfulness.

"Excuse me," Ozma interrupts, "But I had Qrow and Glynda search the area you landed, and they didn't find anything reminiscent of a Sylex or any other magical artifact for that matter." the Old Planeswalker explains.

"What? The Sylex has to be there somewhere. It can't have just disappeared." Stone says confused.

"Perhaps you did not drop it." Ugin interjects.

"What do you mean?" Stone asks the Spirit Dragon.

"You said that you collided with Remnant's barrier, what did you do in response to hitting it?" Ugin asks.

"Well, I think I tried to use a shield spell to protect myself from another hit." Stone says.

"Aah I see, I believe I know what happened. You used magic to defend yourself and the Sylex reacted, the Mana flowing through your body also flowed into the Sylex and caused it to activate, causing it to destroy itself and create a detonation powerful enough to rip through a plane's barrier." Ugin says.

"That would explain the explosion that we all heard on the day you arrived on Remnant." Ozma says.

"Well, I guess that makes sense. And it's a good thing no one's gonna stumble across an artifact that powerful by accident while on a stroll through the woods." Stone says, a bit perplexed by the revelation.

"That aside, what are your plans now?" Ugin asks curiously.

Ozma opens his mouth to say something but he is cut off by Ruby, "We're going to find our friends and get back to Remnant, we've got to stop Salem." she says

"Aah yes, Salem, the Immortal Witch Ozma told me of." Ugin says, "It seems as if defeating her is an insurmountable challenge, but the same could be said about those monsters Sorin, Nahiri, and I imprisoned on Zendikar."

"That's our plan going forward, but first we need to get these four ready for their first controlled planeswalk." Stone interjects.

Ugin gives a satisfied look to him.

"A fine plan for the short term, but you all may not be able to defeat Salem alone." Ugin says, "Which is why I'd like to offer my assistance, I have knowledge that might be helpful to you and your cause."

"Wow… sure! Any help would be appreciated." Ruby says excitedly

"Perfect," the Spirit Dragon says, using his magic Ugin produces a small stone device appearing as two four sided pyramids merged at their bottoms, etched with lines and faintly glowing a blue light. Ugin levitates the device down to Ruby, landing gently in her hands, "This device is called a Hedron, it will allow you to contact me when I am not here."

Ugin creates another Hedron with his magic and displays how the device works, using his blue spectral magic to open a small compartment in the Hedron, and pouring out blue energy. Ruby's Hedron reacts, opening and displaying Ugin in a cloud of blue energy.

Ruby's eyes light up, awestruck at the display of magic. Such an item made of stone could perform the same function as a Scroll only by using Mana.

"Well, I must be off. I have matters to attend to." Ugin says. The Spirit Dragon walks to the door and opens it, flying away as he does the door closing behind his exit, leaving the great hall in silence.

"I think he likes you." Yang says, smiling at her sister.

The sun of Tarkir shines in the sky over the courtyard of Castle Silverclaw, the faint sound of hoofbeats and crackling thunder in the distance. In the halls of the castle Team RWBYS are performing maintenance on their weapons. The lack of Dust anywhere besides Remnant proved a difficult situation.

Weiss is working on Myrtenasters revolving chamber"So our weapons' gun modes are practically useless?" she says.

"It seems that way, without Dust we can't make any new ammunition," Blake says disappointed.

Ruby looks down, deep in though, when suddenly she has a revelation. "Stone!" She exclaims, "Don't you have lots of weapons in your room?"

"I do, but I also have a dedicated armory here in the Castle, why?" Stone asks, a bit confused.

"Because some of the weapons I saw in your room have similar actions and mechanisms to ours, the ammunition they use might be compatible!" Ruby says excitedly.

"That could be possible, I suppose it's worth a shot." Stone says, amazed at Ruby's ingenuity

"So we need you to deploy your door?" Yang asks.

"Won't be necessary, if you thought the amount of weapons I had in my room was impressive, then you ain't seen nothing yet." He says.

Team RWBYS walk through the halls of Castle Silverclaw, stopping at an iron-reinforced wooden door. Opening it reveals a darkened room, as the door creaks open completely Stone snaps his fingers, letting off a small mote of fire, causing lanterns to light up in the room, revealing an armory of epic proportions with a 20 foot high vaulted ceiling, the room is at least five times the size of the one in Stone's portable room, cabinets and lockers line the walls, holding weapons and ammunition.

"Well ladies, take your pick." Stone says.

Team RWBYS rummage through the weapons, looking for anything similar to what they use. Ruby is the first to find a match, finding a large black polymer rifle with a muzzle break, a carry handle hanging from the top of the rifle, and a scope, finding its ammunition Ruby found that it matched Crescent Rose perfectly. Yang finds a box of shotgun shells, opening the box and picking up one of the shells, she inserts it into her Ember Celica and finds it fits, filling the rest of her gauntlet with the shells. Blake opens a cabinet revealing racks of pistols, perusing them she finds a magazine similar to the ones she uses in Gambol Shroud, and a 17 round magazine, inspecting the ammunition in the magazine she finds a small brass pistol cartridge almost identical to the Dust rounds she uses. As they are their weapons, Ruby, Blake and Yang notice that Weiss isn't looking for any ammunition.

"Weiss, why aren't you looking for anything?" Ruby asks, confused.

Weiss holds her rapier in her hands, "Myrtenaster doesn't have a barrel, it was designed to work with only Dust ammunition."

Weiss opens the cylinder of Myrtenaster, looking at the six dust bullets in it. She closes the cylinder and reaches into a pouch on her belt and pulls out eight dust bullets, she looks saddened, realizing she only has two full magazines left.

"Hey don't worry Weiss, we'll figure it out." Ruby says, trying to comfort her.

Weiss sighs and puts her Dust rounds back into her pouch, "You four go ahead and test your new ammunition, I'll be in my room." She says, walking out of the room saddened

Ruby looks concerned, but before she can stop Weiss, the heiress has already left.

Ruby turns to the rest of the team, "Alright, lets go test our new ammo. Do you have a place where we can shoot Stone?" she asks the dragon.

"I can set up some targets in the courtyard if that would work." Stone says.

"Yeah." Ruby says.

In the courtyard of Castle Silverclaw Stone is carrying three wooden target stands to a small embankment by the west wall. Placing the targets down at different points in the embankment, he attaches paper targets to them, two large black silhouette targets and one further away with a small bullseye target. Walking back to a table, set up 30 feet away from the nearest target and 60 feet away from the farthest target, Ruby, Blake, and Yang are loading their weapons and preparing to test their new ammunition, Weiss had decided to stay behind in the castle.

As Stone gets back to the group they begin testing their weapons, and thankfully, the ammunition works flawlessly in their weapons, successfully firing, ejecting, cycling and loading.

"Wow, this ammo is nearly identical to the Dust ammo!" Ruby says, amazed.

"How does it work without Fire Dust?" Blake asks

"They use a compound called Smokeless Powder, it's a mixture of explosive components in a fine powder that produces a similar effect to what you'd see with Fire Dust. It's less efficient and less powerful than Fire Dust, but a lot less volatile and a whole lot safer." Stone says.

"Amazing, I can barely tell the difference." Ruby says.

Weiss looks out from her room's window at the rest of her team testing their weapons, deep in thought about her situation.

Looking to Myrtenaster, Weiss eyes up the rapier, thinking a bit, forming an idea.

Ugin floats about the Haven of the Spirit Dragon, pondering the information he had just earned. Ozma had been missing since the Mending, and he suddenly reappears on Tarkir of all places in a different body from his original along with Stone, who had himself been missing for a year, and four new Planeswalkers all from this Remnant plane, it seemed odd to the Elder Dragon.

Ugin would not have long to stew on this knowledge as he felt an intruder in his domain, a very familiar intruder. Ugin flies out of the crevice of rock and lands in front of the intruder. A man with pale skin, hair as white as the Qal Sisma snow, eyes that glowed blood red, and gray plate armor that complimented the silver bladed sword that hung loosely in his fingers. It was Sorin Markov, the vampire planeswalker from Innistrad.

"Sorin," Ugin says, "It has been a while, my old friend, how have you been?"

"Unfortunately I'm not here for a happy reunion Ugin, I have dire news." Sorin Markov says.

"Well then speak Sorin." Ugin says, leaning in to hear the vampire better.

With a solemn look in his eyes, Sorin delivers his message for the Spirit Dragon, "The Eldrazi are free."

Well that was a long hiatus, sorry for my disappearance for a while, I had other matters to attend to in my life that kept me away from this. I'll try to get new chapters out faster in the future.

Anyway, Ugin is here and he's here to help. Ozma's history with Ugin means he would want to help him, and it appears that he might have taken a shine to Ruby. Weiss is in a bit of a bind, her ammunition is limited outside of Remnant, but I wonder what kind of idea she's cooking up. And it looks like an ancient evil has escaped its binds on Zendikar, meaning this will take up Ugin's attention for the time being.

Wonder where all this is going, the Eldrazi are some of the most dangerous beings in the multiverse, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
