Chapter 18 Shopping Spree

Flying over the world in order to get to the store was definitely the thing that caught Judy's attention the most throughout this whole ordeal. Sure, the fact that she was miles off the ground, in a bowl shaped vehicle with nothing but a tiny propeller on the bottom keeping her from falling to her death, was stressful. Every once in a while, she had to turn away from looking down, as her breathing rate and heart rates went through the roof.

But honestly, she did like seeing the landscape. Like the ground outside of Bowser's Castle, it was ashy and black, more than likely thanks to the volcanoes that the girls passed by. The towns that they flew over were pretty unique though. Not as grand or impressive as the structures that dominated the entirety of Zootopia, but still worth checking out. Seeing these things helped Judy get a better grasp on this world. It helped her see what Wendy saw pretty much everyday. It helped her see the wider world, a true blessing due to the fact that she had been surrounded by stony walls for most of her time as a captive.

"We're almost there," Wendy said.

Judy nodded. She gathered up her courage and looked outside of the Koopa Clown Copter once again. She gasped at the sight, taken completely aback and filled with a boatload of awe as she saw the city they approached.

"Wow," she said.

Wendy smiled down at her. "Pretty cool, eh?" She faced forward. "The place is called Neo Bowser City. It's the capital of the Koopa Kingdom."

Judy stared at the city. Even though it was still fairly early in the day, the entire town glowed thanks to the neon lights that decorated the various buildings. Going into Neo Bowser City, Judy saw all sorts of store fronts, as well as all sorts of different people wandering around down on the ground. They looked to be the same type of dragon turtle monster race that Wendy and her brothers were members of. This didn't surprise Judy, but it did still leave her in awe. There was a whole race of these creatures. There were millions, possibly billions of them that wandered across the ashy ground of the Koopa Kingdom.

Right as Judy was thinking this was when Wendy made the Koopa Clown Car fly downwards. One look forward informed Judy of the reason why, as there was a store coming up in the distance. Like all the other buildings, it was covered in neon; light blue and bright green neon, to be exact. The name of the store was called Shell Mart, and based on the fact that there were a lot of people entering and exiting the place, Judy assumed that it was a popular place to go.

Wendy lowered the clown car out of the air and parked it in the parking lot. Smiling, she jumped out, extending her hand to Judy so that the bunny wouldn't have trouble getting out. Regardless, Judy didn't take her hand. She just jumped out all by herself, telling herself that she wasn't going to accept any form of help from Wendy.

Within seconds, the two of them were making their way into Shell Mart. Judy looked around; it looked to be similar to the stores she would often go to back home. Sure, a lot of the items and displays were pretty big, but Judy had honestly come to expect that. She was one of the smaller types of creatures, and since she didn't live in this world, it would make sense why this store wasn't designed with her height in mind. Even with that in mind, Judy didn't really see this place as too terribly impressive. It was just a normal store, with normal(ish) people making their way to and fro.

Right as she had finished looking around was when Wendy grabbed her hand, much to the rabbit officer's chagrin. "Come on, Judy!"

With that, Wendy led Judy through the store. While they were walking, Judy all at once became aware of the people they passed. Said people looked over at her, some with wide eyes and some with dropped jaws. A few people whispered back and forth between each other.

"Its a bunny!"

"Why is that bunny wearing clothes? For that matter, how are they walking on two legs?"

"Oh my goodness, they're the cutest thing I've ever seen!"

Judy's face grew warm at that last comment in particular. She titled her head down toward the ground. In Zootopia, it wasn't considered good form for other animal to call bunnies cute. In fact, it was considered to be a form of racial stereotyping. And sure, these people who lived in a different dimension obviously wouldn't be familiar with that rule. Even still, thanks to Judy's knee jerk reaction of refusing to accept comments like these, she looked away from these people. Her ears drooped the more people saw her and decided to voice how stinking adorable she was.

Thankfully, the place where Wendy had decided to take her wasn't too overcrowded. There were people there, sure, but they were far fewer and far more in between. This meant that Judy was free from the comments. Unfortunately, she still wasn't entirely comfortable here, as Wendy was all smiles and giggling excitement in this section of the store. The reason being was because it just so happened to be the clothing section.

"Oh, this is going to be fun!" She grabbed hold of a pink dress, rubbing her fingers down the length of the silky fabric. "There are so many choices for outfits I can buy for you! Oh this is too good!"

Judy didn't know how to react to this. Sure, based on what she had seen from their makeup session, Wendy did have a very pronounced fashion sense. Because of this, Judy was confident she could choose something that would look good on her. But even still, she didn't want to. If anything, she wanted to run away, far away from the store and far away from her captor.

But she knew she couldn't. She knew that Wendy would just chase after her, not letting her get out of this situation. So, unfortunately, this meant that Judy had no choice but to go along with Wendy's plans.

She stepped forward. "Alright. What kind of outfit do you plan to get me?"

Wendy giggled, her eyes glittering in a way that honestly made Judy feel a little nervous. "Outfit? Oh, you are sorely mistaken little bunny. I'm not going to buy you an outfit." Judy was just about to breathe a sigh of relief when Wendy beamed. "I'm going to buy you a whole bunch of outfits!"

The sigh of relief morphed into a sigh of frustration. "Of course," she muttered under her breath. She took a step forward. "What outfits do you have in mind?"

"Well, I was thinking I could get you something to wear for a few different occasions." Her eyes scanned over the clothes before landing on one piece in particular, causing her to chortle. "Oh, this is perfect! I know what you can try on first!"

Judy held back a groan.

Twenty minutes later, Judy emerged from a changing room in the back of the store. She wobbled, trying to support the weight of all the bows on her head. Wendy smiled as she came out, looking like the happiest girl in the world.

"Oh, that's gorgeous!" Her smile turned into a grin. "You can wear that as a summer outfit!"

Judy tried to nod, but couldn't. She admittedly had to agree with Wendy; this outfit was indeed summery. She wore a yellow sundress, complete with flowery patterns along the hem of the skirt. She wore a pair of white sandals, both of them having bows on top of them. Flower bracelets, gold and adorable with both of their charms, were situated on her wrists, and on her head was a white summer hat. This hat was what caused Judy to have trouble walking, as there were so many bows on top of it that it was almost like she had an elephant sitting on top of her head.

"Oh man oh man." Wendy giggled. "I almost don't want you to try on anything else; you just look so perfect and cute this way!"

Judy grit her teeth. "I… I…" She couldn't handle it anymore; the weight became too much for her tiny body to bear. She collapsed to the ground, face planting as the numerous bows threatened to cease her breathing.

Much to her relief, Wendy came up and picked up the hat. "Huh," she said as Judy lifted her head. "Perhaps a change in outfit is necessary." She handed over one of the outfits she picked out. "Let's see how you look in your winter gear."

Judy emerged from the changing room again, this time without the complete outfit on. She wore a black long sleeve shirt, a pair of black pants, and in her hands she carried a light blue winter jacket and pair of light blue winter boots to match. She marched over to Wendy, who looked at her in confusion.

"Why didn't you try on the entire outfit?" she asked.

"Uh, hello!" Judy thrust the coat and boots toward her, pointing at the white fur on the hood as well as the white fur lining the inside of the boots. "There's fur! Actual animals were harmed during the making of this product."

Wendy blinked. "Oh." She took hold of the coat, examining it. "Yeah, that can be a problem."

"CAN BE?" Judy shook her head. "How sick are you? How sick is your world? To make animals give up their lives in order to provide you with clothing!" She seethed, feeling contempt taking over her entire being. "You guys are the real animals! YOU GUYS ARE…!"

"Judy!" Wendy pointed toward a tag on the coat. "It's fake! Fake fur on the coat."

Judy froze. "F… fa…. Fake?" She looked at Wendy, on some level not really believing what she was telling her. However, after a minute, she gingerly took back the coat and boots. "Um… okay then. Let me… let me try these on."

Wendy nodded as Judy slipped on the coat and the boots. Once she zipped up, Wendy admired the outfit.

"Well, you certainly look cute. And, on the plus side, you aren't promoting any harm to animals by wearing this." She giggled. "I guess it's perfect in more ways than one!"

Judy just sniffed. "I… I guess." She stood still before sighing and extending her arms. "Just… just let me try on the next outfit."

Wendy nodded and handed it over. With one last huff, Judy went back into the changing room.

Now, the next outfit was one that Judy found that she liked. It was obvious to anyone with eyes and ears that this outfit was designed for only the fanciest evening parties. The dress she wore was sparkly pink and split at the shoulders. The shoes she wore were golden open heels, exposing her lucky rabbit feet to the entire world. The evening gloves, long and white as snow, served to complete the outfit. Judy could consider this outfit pretty much flawless.

Well, almost. She adorned all sorts of diamond jewelry. A diamond necklace, diamond rings, diamond earrings, everything. The glare they caused when struck by the store lights was so strong that even she could see them. It even caused the observing Wendy to shield her eyes.

"Is all this jewelry really necessary?" Judy asked.

"Of course!" Wendy said.

Right at that moment, someone else doing their shopping passed by. They gasped when they saw Judy. "My eyes!" They put their hands to their eyes, crying as the collapsed to the ground and whimpered in pain.

Wendy looked over at this display with a furrowed brow. However, as she turned back to Judy, she chuckled. "I guess you could say this outfit makes you a literal… knockout!"

Judy groaned as Wendy laughed. "Hardee har har." She shook her head. "Just give me the next outfit; I don't want to be bright enough to be classified as a star."

Wendy nodded, all while chuckling.

The next outfit was a lot more casual and MUCH more comfortable. Judy actually smiled as she stepped out of the changing room. The outfit in question was a pink, long sleeved crop top. There was text on the front of it, which read "Fashion Girl" in shiny purple. On her feet she had white heeled boots, which actually made her happy because now she was confident that she could walk in heels without any problems. She wore a white skirt, complete with a belt that was the same color purple as the text on her shirt. Around her neck she had a heart shaped necklace, and around her wrists were golden bracelets. These, thankful, posed no risk of blinding someone from two miles away.

"I like this," Judy said, all while smiling. "There's this certain style to it, one that really screams…"

"Fashion girl?" Wendy asked with a smile.

Judy nodded. "Yeah. I guess you could say that."

Wendy giggled. "I do have to agree that it's cute. In fact…!" She pulled a shirt from out of the bag, one big enough to fit her. "I think I'm going to get one just like it!" She stole a glance at the front before chuckling. "Well… almost just like it."

Judy gawked when she saw the front. Instead of the purple text spelling out Fashion Girl, it now spelled "I'm With My Bestie!" Judy's heart sank.

"Oh great, now this outfit is completely ruined for me." She shook her head as Wendy kept admiring the shirt, fawning over it like it was the hottest man in the world. "Just let me try on the next one." Wendy handed over the outfit, and Judy sighed right before entering the changing room. "This is the last one." She opened the door. "I can do this…"

The last outfit Judy wore was designed for a nice, relaxing night, preferably one after a long day at work. It wasn't much; just a dark green pajama shirt that had Bowser's logo on it (Judy thought the king of the Koopas must be very popular, if his face showed up on pretty much everything). She walked over to Wendy, who smiled at the shirt.

"You look great."

"Thanks," Judy said, albeit without much enthusiasm.

"I really think that you make even Bowser's logo look button cute." She giggled before putting her hand to her chin. "You know… maybe Bowser can adopt you! That would mean that we'd be sisters!"

Judy felt fear strike her. What! NO! No no no! That was a horrible idea! Absolutely horrible!

Wendy must've noticed her fear, because she chuckled. "I'm only kidding, Judy!" She paused, delving back into thought as she put her hand to her chin. "At least, I think I am…" She stayed silent, causing Judy to stew in her fear and terror.

After a little bit, the rabbit officer realized she couldn't take it anymore. "Okay!" she exclaimed. She took Wendy by the hand and led her back to the clothing section. "Why don't we go find more outfits, okay Miss Wendy?"

Wendy didn't even hesitate. "Okay. That sounds good."

Judy let out a breath of relief. MAN was this whole being held by a crazy turtle girl gig stressful. She only hoped she would get out of it alive.
