The Other Me
Chapter 1
'Zero' wake with a startle gasp. Glancing around the room he sits up slowly in the bed he occupied in the infirmary.
He sits in silence for a few second then a accomplish/mischievous grin split his face, "Finally, I'm in full control, he clenches and unclench his fists, for years all I could do was watch helpless as you steer us to pointless self-destruction but not anymore, now that I'm in charge I'll do whatever it takes to keep us alive even if it means putting you to sleep for eternity, I will do anything to protect you Zero, even from yourself."
A knock on the door interrupts his rant then Kaien Cross enters with a relief expression at seeing the prefect conscious.
"Zero-chan~ I'm so glad you're finally awake, you had us worried!" he weeps comically drying fake dramatic tears.
"I'm more or less fine father, nothing serious" 'Zero' replies softly with a small smile.
Kaien stiffens in shock not believing his eyes and ears.
"Is something wrong, father?" the teen's concern question snaps the ex-hunter out of his stupor.
'There it is again, Zero called me father, twice and smiled at me!' "Ah no, does your head hurt, do you remember what happened?" the male asks to cover how bewilder he is.
"Yeah, he frowns, I was about to drink Yuki's blood but at last second I regain a bit of my senses so I pushed her away and hit my head against the wall hard knocking myself out" he relays calm though inwards he's relived he took over before Zero made the foolish mistake of feeding from that insufferable girl.
"We were quite surprise to find you injured and Yuki crying, trying to stop the bleeding" Kaien sigh recalling the scene he and Kaname came upon.
He almost had a heart attack, seeing his adopted son unconscious on the floor, pale and unresponsive, bleeding profoundly from his head with a scared/shaken Yuki fretting over him.
Kaname had taken Yuki back to her dorm room after a little coaxing meanwhile he carried his son to the infirmary once he'd stop the bleeding.
"Speaking of Yuki, she will be by to check on you sometime today" Kaien informs.
"That's not…he pauses thoughtful, never mind, I'm not staying here when I'm perfectly fine now, the silverette speak while getting off the bed removing the bandage from his healed head ignoring his adopted father's frantic protest, I'm going to class no point skipping over something so minor" he mumbles leaving the room heading to the chairman's house to shower with said male following behind.
"But Zero-chan you lost so much blood; I'm just worried about your condition and how it will affect you being around the other students" he whines.
"I'll take a blood tablet then before leaving" 'Zero' counters.
"But Zero-chan, you should rest today and attend tomorrow it wont hurt to miss one day to fully recover, son" Kaien suggests.
'Zero' stop suddenly causing the ex-hunter to do the same, a bit wary thinking the teen would snap at him.
"You're right father, I should take it easy, 'Zero' half turn to him, I hope you don't mind me staying over instead of at the dorm."
Kaien shakes his head rapidly, "no, of course not, he chuckles nervous then grew serious, Zero we need to talk."
"About my transfer to the night class?" the silverette asks sounding more like a statement.
"Yes" he confirms with a sigh predicting it would be a difficult task to convince the teen.
"Very well, we can talk while I work" 'Zero' turn and continue on his way.
"Huh? work?" the ash-blond ask confuse.
"I have no intention to broach such a topic with an empty stomach, the ex-human elaborate, and since I'm in a gracious mood I'll make anything you want."
"Really! Hooray~ I know just what I want!" he excitedly scurries after his unusually generous and adorable son.
Later that day Yuki went to the moon dorm after morning classes to visit Kaname going to request he not get Zero transfer to the night class and moon dorm.
She had left the sun dorm seconds after Kaname (that night) to ask the chairman about Zero's situation (she was upset on only just finding out about him being a vampire) and over heard him trying to persuade the chairman in doing so.
But little did she know her interference is unnecessary with Zero's current state, not knowing the Zero she thought she knew wasn't conscious anymore.
Hours later while the chairman went on an 'errand', 'Zero' took the opportunity to sneak off academy ground.
Walking down the street the silverette turns into a dark ally going pass rundown buildings. A quick movement from the corner of his eye make him pause in step then a small smirk grace soft pink lips.
In a blink a claw hand suddenly wraps around his neck and slams him into the nearest wall.
"Your blood, I will drink every drop!" his attacker hiss, eyes crazed glowing crimson, fangs bared.
The creature freeze at his victim scent then grows confuse at their sudden low chuckle and calm demeanor.
"How foolishly bold, 'Zero' grasp the wrist holding him, bangs shadowing lavender eyes, a Level E should taste better than blood tablets" he swiftly breaks the vampire's wrist resulting in a screech then grasp its neck with his free hand slamming the disoriented fallen vampire into the wall across them.
Wasting no time, the ex-human bites into the creature's neck restraining its weak struggle, drinking until the E turns to ash leaving behind its garments.
"That was more satisfying than expected, much more pleasant than trying to choke down blood tablets, the silverette clenches and unclench his fist, and I feel stronger, how unexpectedly fortunate" he then decides to head back before Kaien return and notice his absence.
'Zero' didn't attend class the following morning instead use that time to pack the few things 'he' owns to move into the moon dorm and get settle.
"Are you sure about not telling Yuki you're moving, Zero-chan?" Kaien asks uncertain standing in the door way.
"Why would it matter if I told her or not, she would only try to interfere, this is my choice, 'Zero' pause to glance back at the nervous male, besides I think its best to put some distance between me and her" he went back to emptying the closet.
The ex-hunter fells conflicted at his son's words but then thought Zero's only trying to protect Yuki in his own way by giving her some space seeing as the teen had almost hurt her recently, 'he must feel guilty' he concludes.
How wrong he is.
The current Zero couldn't careless about the female brunette the only thing he currently prioritize is the wellbeing of his other self. And he has plans to ensure their survival and putting as much distance between Yuki and them is the first step. The girl is a ticking bomb that would ensure their fall if he sticks around her.
'I should just be glad he agreed to move without a fuss which is a miracle considering Zeros hatred, well there were a few conditions' Kaien muse then wonders if the head injury had affected his son psychologically but dismiss the thought a second later.
To be continued…
