Hakuno Kishinami "K" Trailer

The front of Hakuno's body melded into the sand as she looked through the scope of her sniper. Her sandy coloured jacket and shorts camouflaged into her surroundings as she kept an eye in the area where sand became blocks of stone which past it showed signs of life. Grass. Trees. Animals.

Grimm.

Hakuno aimed her gun and fired at the child size scorpion looking grimm, before prepping to shoot at the next one. She only hoped that it wasn't a sign that a death stalker was near. She felt confident enough against these babies, but was less confident against armored grimm.

A set of bare feet stopped next to her. Hakuno looked up the beautiful person. Their shimmering green hair flowed with the gentle breeze on yet another hot, dry, sunny day. "Thanks for coming, Enkidu." She spoke softly with tender familiarity.

"I'm always happy to help, but is there a reason you haven't asked Gilgamesh to join?" Gilgamesh and her got along well enough and he didn't complain about how much she used her semblance unlike some others who would chide her to become less dependent on it. Hakuno looked up at the bright sun and narrowed her eyes. She brought up a hand to block the beams of sunlight that were much too bright to stare at directly. "You usually ask him unless it's dust related, in which you usually discuss with Tamamo."

"He's still a little upset that I refuse to wear the garments he gifted me as my regular attire. It's much too ornamental." The white cloth used as the base was simple enough, but the added layers had an array of colour, patterns, and details that left her concerned about ruining it when training. Hakuno preferred simple. It was something she knew Enkidu appreciated too.

"I believe he'll be more upset that you haven't mentioned your application to Haven than about the outfit. Is there a reason you want to travel so far? You've come a long way these past two years. Was I mistaken? Is it not to your liking?"

"That's not why," she replied with urgency as she rapidly stood up and grabbed one of Enkidu's hands with both of her own. She stared intently at them as their eyes met. "I'm so happy to have met you all. You're all dear to me." Hakuno frowned. "Maybe don't tell Gil that. His ego is big enough already." She broke eye contact to look down a little. "You're all upper years though, and I haven't been training all that long. I know I mostly provide support, but…" She looked back into Enkidu's eyes with a roaring fire. "I want to feel confident in my abilities to stand by you, and that means not relying on you for everything."

Enkidu lead her into a gentle hug. "That may be, but we are here for you regardless of your decisions. You don't have to hide it and you don't have to worry about losing us."

Hakuno's cheeks pinkened. Gah. She was read like a book. She was stubbornly attached to her friends, and it was already a big enough blow when one moved away to Atlas months ago.

Hakuno broke off the hug and her sniper reverted into a staff. "Thank you." She spun it a few times, reacquainting herself with the feel of her weapon, Lunareine. "Now for training. Please only interfere if necessary."

They walked out of the sand. Hakuno felt a few grains fall into her boots. An all too familiar feeling.

She stepped across the rocks and into the shrubs, hoping to find some more grimm to practice against.

Hakuno heard some rattling and kept her guard up. Her eyes widen as she twisted on her left foot ninety degrees and brought up Lunareine to hold with both hands as a shield. She was pushed back. Her feet dragged against the earth. It was a tarantular. A tarantula-like grimm. It had eight legs, eight red eyes, and white armor-like qualities over its top mid-section and over its face above the jaws.

She ran forward and swung Lunareine downwards to sweep the front two feet. She quickly realized how much that didn't help her.

The tarantular's jaws snapped forward and Hakuno quickly stabbed Lunareine down into the ground to use the momentum to lift herself. She narrowly dodged the jaws put swung herself to kick it in the face. When she made a full circle, she lifted Lunareine to smack it down on the face.

No noticeable damage.

Attacking it's unprotected legs didn't help. If it couldn't walk, the most accessible part of its body was still hard to penetrate. She ran forward and jumped over hitting the back. She wanted to groan. The tarantular squealed but agitation was the only noticeable difference. Hakuno's eyes widened as she jumped to the side, somersaulting before preparing for a counter attack. A mass of webbing flew past her.

Hakuno reached into her jacket pocket and took out a palm size cylinder that was as thick as three fingers. It shined seven colours. Each dust cartridge space was filled with a different dust. She did a barrel roll to avoid another attack before attaching the cylinder on top of her weapon. It was set to wind. She slashed Lunareine horizontally and the wind dust swept the tarantular's legs sending it flying upwards. She used the opportunity to rush beneath it and jump up stabbing it.

It vanished back into dust.

She thought things were over until another dropped down next to her. A thread connected it to a high up branch. She motioned Lunareine horizontally again, sending another slash of wind. The thread was cut and the tarantular fell on it's back making it easier to kill.

Three more appeared. Two through the bush and another jumped down from a tree branch.

How she wished she could try burning them to crisp, but she couldn't risk burning the woods down.

Hakuno switch to gravity dust, forcing the one in the tree to come down. There was enough to pay attention to without needing to look up. She twirls Lunareine and holds it upside down. Mashing the cylinder into the ground cause a bunch of spiky rocks to emerge, killing one.

She jumped up so the other two tarantulars clashed. She landed on the white of one's back. The other sprayed more webbing and Hakuno blasted off. The webbing caught the second one as intended.

She went in for the attack on the one as the second remained stuck when webbing hit Lunareine and swiped it from her hand.

Hakuno's mouth opens a little. She didn't have time to process where the new one came from as the second continued to approach quickly.

So much for not relying on her semblance.

Hack.

Stun.

Hakuno slid under the tarantular to avoid impact, her arm dragged against the ground, but now her weapon was even further from her.

She gulped.

A spear-tipped chain flew before her, a weapon she was all too familiar with, stabbed the stunned grimm, and killed it. The chain was pulled back by Enkidu who swung and spun the chain before tossing it at the other two, ending things swiftly.

Enkidu walked to where the webbing encased Lunareine. His chain combining back together to form a lance. He used the bladed end to cut through and retrieve it for her.

She nervously took the weapon when offered to her. She feared his remarks.

"You've come a long way."

"But still not good enough."

"That depends. Good enough for what? If it's your application you're worried about you shouldn't be. It's enough skills to get you in."

"But…" Hakuno wanted to protest. She claimed she wanted to be good enough to stand by their sides, but this was all she could do. Maybe she was meant as a support role.

"He's right." That wasn't Enkidu. Hakuno looked to the man who waltzed over. He had blond hair and red eyes. Gilgamesh. "What kind of fool would deny you? Whether that be Haven or anyone else."

Hakuno's mouth dropped open a little. "You overheard?" How long had he been standing about? Or had Enkidu told him behind her back?

Gilgamesh scoffed. "Perhaps you're the fool if you thought you could hide it from me."

That was fair. Gilgamesh had a way of finding things out. She still wasn't quite sure how he did it. She wanted to call it intuition with how naturally it came to him, but she refused to believe his judgement was sound enough for such a thing. How could his mind be that clear when he bulldozed through with blinders?

"You're not mad?" She'd been waiting for him to reprimand her, demand she stay, or even tell her that being a huntress wasn't in her future.

Gilgamesh grinned. "Your desire knows no bounds. You seek more and more. I promised to show you the world one day, but your eagerness is sending you on ahead earlier than intended. How could I not support such folly?" His eyes narrowed. "You made this choice yet look uncertain." His eyes gaze down her outfit. "You're plain in even the best of times, but you look shabbier than ever." Ah, he was still mad about the outfit. Gilgamesh crossed his arms. "Let me tell you something to ease your worried. We do not bear the lives of a few people on our shoulders. We bear the lives of the whole human race. That makes it easier doesn't it."

He had to be joking. Hakuno looked for any indication that he was messing with her, but he gave none.

That didn't make it better at all!

"What are you doing out here, anyways?" Hakuno had Lunareine collapse. It was conveniently portable.

"I've organized a gathering at the oasis that will commence soon. You're just in time." Gil made the look of wanting to be praised. Were they not invited or did he know they would be there? She shook the thoughts away. It was hot out and enjoying the water sounded nice.

"What's taking so long?! The girl's pink hair was tied in twin low ponytails with blue ribbon. Her fox ears perk up and she rushed to Hakuno's side, wrapping her tail around her to pull her in closer. "You're here~ I missed you. It's so hard being stuck with him."

And so yet another argument began.

Hakuno looked back up at the sunlight that twinkled it's way through the gaps between the tree leaves. She liked her friends, but she wish they wouldn't fight so much. It was annoying and tiresome, not endearing.

Authors Notes:

I know there's a lot of intensive lore people out there, so I want to say up front that this is a fusion making it AU in a lot of aspects. I don't plan to use a bunch of exposition over every little thing up front. If you want to theorize, by all means do, but things will explain themselves as they go on.

There's going to be a lot of ship-teases. It's fun, there's a lot of dynamics, and it pays tributes to the material. Will there be final pairings? I'm not sure. I've been putting my attention into other places, but I'm also generally a multi-shipper so yeah. I might get distracted in my joy.

Fun Fact: It was almost going to be called Team Crêpe as a joke on "Justice will be swift! Justice will be painful! It will be DELICIOUS!" From the food fight and an homage to how many food scenes and spin offs there are of Fate but I'll admit that while the letters work it wasn't the first thing that came to mind. Jokes about team names will come up in the future.

The primary setting is in Mistral/Haven. That's not the only place, but considering they're in school that's the main place. Also, even if this is AU I want to clarify this is pre-canon so while there will be characters appearing, the main RWBY cast isn't born yet. Their family members are all fair game though.

Not going to lie. Aside from the parallels between Enkidu and Hakuno, I find the three of them ironic together. The Sun, the Earth, and the Moon all have representation.
