Have you ever wondered what happens when you die? Do we go to be judged in the afterlife, or do we simply cease to exist? I've often held the hope in getting a second chance to do better, to be more. Well, it seems like that particular wish maybe coming to fruition. You see, I opened may eyes after what I believed to be my last breathe only to find myself sitting at a table in a muted white space, sitting across from some weirdly familiar blonde dude in a business suit.
"So you're mine, huh?" His voice was smooth and confident yet felt aged? It was like a suave Harvard student who had gone through hell and came out tempered. "Maybe," I managed to reply. "Quite the eloquent one aren't you?" His reply was rich with lighthearted sarcasm. "I'm kidding, just relax a bit okay?" Only then did I realize just how tense I was. Taking a deep breathe I managed to clear my head a bit, only then did I take a closer look at him. My eyes widened once I realized just WHO I was talking to! "Holy shit you're Jaune Arc!" "Yes I am, though I'm not the Jaune Arc you're thinking of." My excitement level dropped while I contemplated the implications of his response. "Anyway, before we get distracted, let's get right down to business. You my friend died due to electric shock from a condensing unit because you forgot to shutoff the outdoor disconnect." My face turned red in embarrassment, "Yeah, not my brightest moment." "Oh I don't know about that. In fact I'm pretty sure it was the brightest moment of your life...for like four milliseconds anyway." Did he seriously just say that? I looked up to see Jaune looking at me with a shit-eating grin, "so why am I here?"
His face turned serious so fast that I wondered if his easy-going persona was just a façade. "Right. Well, normally souls after
death will go on to be judged within their local version of the afterlife, but some are flagged for an alternative once they meet a certain requirement." Wow ok, I need to take a figurative step back after he just dropped that bomb on me! As I was trying to wrap my mind around all that, something caught my attention. "You said certain souls are flagged once they meet a certain requirement, but the fact that you told me about that leads me to believe that I am one of these 'flagged' souls. So what's this requirement that I supposedly meet?" He paused for just a moment before looking down and typing on the desk...oh would you look at that, he made a floating screen appear from nowhere. "This should explain better than I can," he said before sending the screen my way. When I saw what was on the screen my eyes became damn dinner plates! "You're with The Company!" He chuckled, "yes kid I am." I opened my mouth to speak, but he immediately raised his hand to stop me. "Hold on there cowboy, I know you have a lot of questions, but we don't have all day so I'll make this quick as I can:
, you are being recruited by The Company to be a contractor
can say no, but we both know you won't
you'll be given access to the full abilities of the catalog.
Alright, now do you have any other questions that are Relevant?" I took a minute to think about which question to ask him before deciding on one that could either make this perfect or break my experience completely. "do I have any restrictions or drawbacks?" "No you do not." "Do I have any quotas that I have to fill and if not why?" "You don't have quotas of any kind, you can simply enjoy your life while forging a place for your self. The reason you don't is because you're my first contractor, so the company allows me to do whatever I please for your reincarnation." I was stunned! A second chance that the richest men on earth would give up everything they own to acquire, dropped into my lap without any of the usual drawbacks. There was only one thing to say to that, "so, when can I pick my build?!" I barely managed to contain my excitement. "How about, right now."
After the better part of an hour it was complete. "That is an unconventional build to be sure. It works, but are you sure that out of every possible world you could go to, every timeline and universe you want to go there?" "Definitely." "Ok, and you're sure you don't want to go to RWBY, or DXD, or FGO? Aren't you an Azur Lane player? Why not go there?" I shook my head in denial, "nope, this is the world for me. I wanted to make the most of my second chance, and that is why I chose this world. I won't regret me decision, I promise." He took a look into my eyes and seemed satisfied with what he saw. "Alright then. Well, its been fun kid, but there's nothing more for us to do. Good luck kid, I will look forward to the next time we meet!" Before I could muster a response, everything went black.
I woke up with a jolt, only to find myself laying in a grassy meadow with a nice breeze. Seeing the islands floating thousands of feet in the air I couldn't help but mutter "I don't think we're in Kansas anymore." Well it wasn't doing me any good to just sit around. Time to meet my family, but first let's see how I look. I walked over to a small pond my older brother Nicks and I would occasionally go fishing in; taking a look at my reflection I see a young man with black hair and matching eyes with a sharp chin and not a single blemish in sight. "Holy shit! I know Leon was actually fairly attractive in his own right, but this is next level! I guess The Company didn't lie when they said that Body Tune-Up would make you flawless."
After indulging in my own vanity for a bit, I headed towards our small family mansion off in the distance. Getting closer, the trees start to thin out as I approach the building. Taking a closer look allows me to see it in greater detail, its white and tan walls made from stone and wood, looking like something straight out of 16th century. Our family may be dirt poor as far as nobles go, but even we have to maintain appearances. Renovating an 18th-Century French Château | Vogue
"Ah, Leon! There you are." I heard a woman say, "I was just about to send Nicks to get you. Come on inside and get cleaned up for diner." "Yes mother." I replied to the beautiful brown haired women, my mother Luce Fou Bartfort. Well I supposed I should to kick things off before Zola can come with news of an engagement for me.

AN: I know not much happened in the prologue, but I hope you guys enjoyed it anyway. This is my first time writing a story to share, so I am very open to constructive criticisms to improve my writing. I don't have a solid release schedule or anything, but I should have one or more chapters released by Friday. Do note, the story will itself may not include detailed r-18 scenes, it depends on if I can write them without them sounding like shit. My plan for the story itself is to mostly follow the original with the protagonist not rejecting the reality of his circumstances because he's "a mob." Lastly, I plan on focusing far more on the technology side of thing, without going deep enough to write myself into a hole.
