AN: Lots of dialogue in this one but the confrontation needed to happen!
Carlos nursed a broken hand after seeing the news broadcast showing Captain America taking Stephanie ring shopping. Of all people Captain freaking America his childhood hero had snatched his woman up after he decided to be an idiot. Ella still wasn't speaking to him, giving him burned food more often than not, his men were giving him the cold shoulder as well, worst of all though his daughter had blocked him out completely. He had to find a way to fix this.
"I am offline until further notice. I will be on my cell if needed." Carlos advised the men on monitors knowing an email would go our company wide.
"Where are you going?"
"Where do you think I am going to talk to Stephanie. I fucked up and I have to try and fix this shit before there is nothing left for me. Hell, my own daughter won't even talk to me."
"You do realize where she lives right? Stephanie lives with the Avengers, none of which are too happy with you right now since you decided to ignore Stephs panic button and got her hurt."
"Yes I am aware. You do not have to remind me that I am a colossal ass. My mother did that for you."
"Good luck man, you will need it."
"Yo!" Lester picked up his phone without looking at the collar id.
"I need you help cuz. I fucked up and I need to talk to her. I know she is not going to want to see me." Carlos didn't bother with pleasantries knowing that Lester could hang up on him before he even had a chance to speak.
"You have lost your mind if you think any one of us will help you hurt her again. Cap is good for her. I have never seen her look so happy and free." Lester snarled. "I wouldn't come here. There are too many people with access to ridiculous amounts of weapons that would love to make sure your body is never found.
"Lester everything is falling apart over one woman. My company is falling apart because the men want nothing to do with me, mom won't speak to me and by extension none of the rest of the family wants anything to do with me. Julie has blocked me out completely." Carlos spat.
"That woman is the bravest kindest person I know and it should say something about her character that everyone in your life that loved you unconditionally will not stand by you after what you have done. Do not call back." Lester looked over at the guys "Call Pepper we need to prepare for Ranger to show up and show his ass."
Stephanie woke to angry muttering as Steve stomped around suiting up. "What's wrong Steve getting an Avengers callout doesn't get you worked up like this."
"Manoso is on his way here, he wants you back and to fix what he broke." Steve growled.
"There is nothing for him to fix Steve; he shattered that beyond redemption. You have nothing to worry about. I can't wait to marry you." Stepanie got up wrapping her arms around him.
Stephanie could physically see him relax. "I know you loved him. I saw how shattered you were. I thought…"
"That I would give the bastard another chance to hurt me when I have the man of my dreams right here? You showed me what it meant to really love someone, Steve. I used to panic at the thought of marriage and children and now I can't wait. I choose you and I always will even if it were my life or yours. I would tell you how much I love you with my last breath." Stephanie grabbed his head bringing him down for a heady kiss.
"I love you too, but we should probably go stop everyone from killing your ex." Steve laughed
"He could only be my ex if we were in a relationship and he refused that so he is just a man."
Chaos ensued in the Avengers main floor as people argued who got the dumbass first. Stephanie shook her head covering her ears as Steve let out a shrill whistle to get everyone's attention. "Stephanie has something to say."
"I love you all for how protective you are of me, but I want to talk to Ranger alone. He needs to know there is nothing left here for him so that he will leave and not come back." Stephanie announced.
"Oh no dollface you are not going alone to meet a decorated ranger who is looking to steal you from my brother." Bucky shook his head.
"Do you think that I would ever leave Steve for him, Bucky? If so you and I have a problem." Stephanies voice went cold.
"He doesn't mean it that way Steph, but I don't want you meeting the man who hurt you alone either."Pepper looked at her with those big eyes. "Please Steph?"
"Dammit. Fine! One person."
"1 Avenger or 3 of your team." Natasha countered.
Stephanie's face took on an evil grin. "I bet you will never guess which comics he loved most as a child."
"No say it isn't so.. You are marrying his hero?! Thats so damn perfect." Pepper nearly fell over laughing.
"Well since I know we aren't letting Steve handle this one that nominates the only howling commando left ." Bucky stood next to her. "When do you expect him to arrive?"
"Mr Manoso has arrived in the lobby demanding to see Ms. Plum now." Jarvis chimed in.
The elevator barely opened before Stephanie asked. "What the hell are you doing here Ranger? I want nothing to do with you."
"Please Babe I fucked up. I need to make things right.."
"Just how do you make not only treating me like a whore, but ignoring panic calls right? What if I hadn't had the extra phone Morelli didn't find? Your daughter was in that fucking basement with me Carlos!" Stephanie interrupted.
"I thought you were just trying to get my attention."
"When have I ever mis-used the panic button? I got hurt more often than not by not using it because I didn't want to put you or my friends in danger." Stephanie got up in his face before Bucky could pull her back.
"I wasn't thinking clearly ok? I knew I had fucked up the moment the words were out of my mouth but there was no way to take them back without a relationship and I didn't realize I wanted that I thought what we had was enough." Carlos scrubbed a hand through his hair.
"You gave pieces of yourself, and I gave everything. Go home Ranger there is nothing for you here."
Carlos reached for her as she walked away only to find a wall of muscle in the form of Bucky in his way. "Please Babe I need you everything is falling apart without you. The men are giving me the cold shoulder, my family is refusing to speak to me, and even Julie has blocked me out completely."
"Frankly my dear I don't give a damn. Bucky could you please see Mr. Manoso out?"
"My pleasure sis." Bucky manhandled him out the door. "I hear that your favorite comic as a kid was Captain America. I know those made him out to be a boy scout, but you have been in war son and know what we have to do to ensure things go right. Do not come back here Steve will put you in the ground for that woman and so would every person in this building. She saved your life today, but it won't happen again."
