Mickey's Plane (First appearance)
Plot
Mickey is trying to fly an airplane to imitate Charles Lindbergh. After building his own airplane, he does a flight simulation to ensure that the plane is safe for flight, but the flight fails, destroying the plane. Using a roadster and the remains of his plane to create another plane, he asks a young mouse girl, Minnie, to join him for its first flight after she presents him with a horseshoe for good luck. They take an out-of-control flight with exaggerated, impossible situations. Clarabelle Cow briefly "rides" the aircraft. Mickey uses a turkey's tail as a tail for his plane. Once he regains control of the plane, he repeatedly tries to kiss Minnie. When she refuses, he uses force: he breaks her concentration and terrifies her by throwing her out of the airplane, catching her with the airplane, and he uses this to kiss her. Minnie responds by slapping Mickey and parachutes out of the plane using her bloomers. While distracted by her, Mickey loses control of the plane and eventually crashes into a tree. Minnie then lands, and Mickey laughs at her exposed bloomers. Minnie then storms off, rebuffing him. Mickey then angrily throws the good luck horseshoe given to him by Minnie, and it boomerangs around a tree, hitting him, ringing around his neck, and knocking him out in the process.
Cast
Walt Disney as Mickey Mouse: An mouse who oftens does crazy antics to get Minnie's attention.
Minnie Mouse: Mickey's love interest.
Alex went on YouTube searched up "Plane Crazy" and pressed play on the first video that popped up.
The film starts with a title card reading "Disney Cartoons Present: A Mickey Mouse Sound Cartoon, Plane Crazy, A Walt Disney Comic by Ub Iwerks".
The scene transitions to a bunch of animals working on a plane as Mickey Mouse shows up, reading a book called "How to Fly", as he scrolls through some pages, one of which we see is read "Aces of Ace: Lindy", it shows a picture of Lindy. Mickey fixes his hair so it looks like Lindy as a version of the American trumpet is heard. Mickey uses Oswald the Rabbit as a stepstool to get into the plane. As the plane starts taking off, it crashes into a tree, leaving Mickey upset. He uses a lawn mower and folds the top part to use as "wings" and puts his own propeller on the rim of the lawn mower. A chicken comes up and he takes off some of its fur to use as the back part. Minnie Mouse, Mickey's crush, comes to him, carrying a cowbell for good luck. Mickey gestures to her to get in, and excited, she gets in. As the plane takes off, Mickey falls out. Mickey avoids getting hit by the plane by jumping into a well. A character gets out of the outhouse and is chased by the plane as he runs away. As Mickey catches up with the plane, we see Clarabelle Cow. The plane starts chasing Clarabelle, as it hits her. Clarabelle holds on for dear life, as Mickey uses her to get back into the plane, though she knocks him off twice. The third time he tries to do it, he knocks Clarabelle off the plane as he tries to get back in.
Everybody laughs.
"Remember when we were kids and we went to the theater every weekend to see it?" Bucky asked.
"Yep." Steve said.
"Classic." they both said.
Mickey uses Clarabelle's extended neck to get back into the plane. Minnie grabs Mickey's eyes, as the wheel comes off, causing them to go into the air and down from the air several times. Mickey tries to kiss Minnie, but she rejects him. He jerks it faster to get back at her. He kisses an irritated Minnie forcefully who slaps him in the face.
"I wasn't ready, then." Minnie said.
"I know." Mickey said.
She jumps out of the plane, using her skirt as a parachute. Mickey starts to fall off the plane, but gets back in just in time, crashing the plane down as Mickey falls into a tree, hitting his head several times as he hit by the cowbell. He shows Minnie the cowbell and laughs before she walks away. Frustrated, Mickey throws the cowbell, only for it to wrap around his neck. The stars from a dazed Mickey turn to a title card, which reads "The End". The screen cuts to black.
And that's Plane Crazy. In the next short, we will go over "The Opry House".
