SO I WAS GONNA BE DONE WITH THE WHOLE MORPHINE SECTION, BUT THEN I GOT AN IDEA 4 IT. LOL. STILL 1985 OBVIOUSLY, WITHIN A FEW DAYS OF THE LAST CHAPTER.
All of the Dukes were having breakfast.
"Ain't ya hungry, Daisy?" Jesse noticed that Daisy wasn't really eating.
"Yeah, sorry. I was jus' thinkin': whatever caused Boss Hogg to be so concerned about Kenny Sawyers? I think there's an ulterior motive hidden in there somewheres." Daisy started eating.
"I was think'in the same thing myself, especially since he donated his reward money to us Dukes of all people." Jesse replied.
"Yeah, maybe he's-" Daisy started, but stopped when she saw Bo and Luke whispering angrily at each other. She looked at Jesse, who'd noticed too.
"Boys?" Jesse asked.
Luke turned to face him. "Yes sir?"
"What are ya scrappin' about?" Jesse asked.
"Bo here won't take his dang pills." Luke glared at Bo.
"I wanna be able to drive, and I can't drive if I'm high!" Bo proclaimed.
"Ya can't drive if you're in pain, neither." Luke reminded him.
"Now boys, quit fightin'. Bo, take your damn pills." Jesse glowered at Bo.
"I ain't a kid no more, uncle Jesse." Bo stated, instantly regretting it when he saw the angry, hurt look on his uncle's face.
"What did you say, young man?" Jesse raised his voice.
"I said: yes sir, I'll take my pills." Bo downed them. "I'm sorry."
"Thank you." Jesse calmed down.
"I gotta get off to the Boar's Nest. See ya'll later." Daisy waved as he left.
"Bye."
"Come on, Bo, we told Cooter we'd-"
"Whatever." Bo stood up and headed out to the General Lee.
"He'll calm down, you'll see." Jesse assured Luke.
Luke went out to the car and climbed in the driver's side.
"You wanted to go, so let's go already." Bo huffed.
"What's eatin' you?" Luke asked as he turned the General on.
"I hate them pills." Bo muttered.
"Jesse an' me ain't gonna just let ya live in pain until your arm heals! You've gotta take 'em, they ain't gonna kill you, Bo."
"They make me high and they give me headaches. You remember that first night on 'em!"
"You'll get through it, it's only for a few weeks." Luke pulled onto the road.
Bo sat silent, looking out the window for a while, then he leaned back onto the seat slowly.
"Lemme drive..." Bo reached for the wheel.
"Bo-" Luke shoved him away.
"C'mon I wanna drive!" Bo complained.
"Bo, you're high." Luke pulled over and forced Bo to get out of the car. "Sit down." Luke helped him onto a stump.
"Ain't my fault..." Bo glared at him, until he couldn't help but giggle like a teenage girl, falling off the side of the stump and losing control of himself.
Luke stood out of the way and watched Bo squirm around on the ground laughing.
"Hey, Bo?" Luke knelt next to him once he stopped moving.
"Yeah?"
"Wanna get up off the ground now?"
"Good idea." Luke helped Bo to his feet, and Bo took off running for the General, attempting to jump in the driver's window, but falling down. He stood up to try again, but Luke grabbed him and led him back over to the stump.
"Luke, I wanna drive..." Bo whined.
"We ain't goin' no where until you're steady enough." Luke kept his hands on his shoulders.
"I feel kinda dizzy." Bo shut his eyes and let his head fall back.
"Take a little nap." Luke got down and sat indian style, laying Bo's head in his lap.
"Thanks..." Bo turned his head and got comfortable.
Luke let Bo sleep for about 20 minutes, and then he started to wake him up.
"Bo, get up, cousin."
"Luke?" Bo sat up and looked around.
"Yeah. How ya feelin'?"
"Jus' fine, why?" Bo stood up and looked at Luke.
Luke could tell from his wild eyes and silly grin that he was still high.
"Why don't I drive us into town?" Luke suggested, leading Bo over to the car by the arm.
"Kay, you can drive into town, but I get ta drive back, okay?" Bo leaned against the car.
"Sure." Luke stood behind Bo as he climbed in, just to make sure he didn't end up falling out.
"Lezgo Luke, c'mon!" Bo laughed as Luke got into the General.
"You behave yourself." Luke chuckled.
"Sure. Only 'cause ma head hurts though." Bo leaned back and shut his eyes.
Luke pulled up at Cooters and blew the horn. Cooter came out.
"Howdy ya'll!"
"Hey, Cooter." Luke waved.
Bo just sat giggling.
"Don't mind him, he's jus' a little high." Luke told Cooter.
"On his pain meds?" Cooter chuckled.
"Yeah."
"Can we get out now?" Bo started climbing headfirst out the window. Cooter ran around to intercept him while Luke climbed out of the driver's side.
"Hey, Cooter..." Bo laughed, looking up at Cooter from the awkward upside down position that he was hanging from.
"Hey, buddy." Cooter grabbed him under the arms and pulled him out of the car. Cooter set Bo on his feet, which didn't hold him very well so, Cooter let him lean on him.
"Let's get him inside." Luke helped Cooter get Bo in the garage.
"Am I sick?" Bo asked as Luke and Cooter leaned him against the wall.
"No, ya ain't sick." Luke replied.
"Jus' high." Cooter chuckled.
"I got drugged? I told uncle Jesse I'd never do drugs..." Bo was ashamed of himself.
"Ya didn't do drugs, Bo, it's just for the pain." Luke assured him.
"Ya mean ma head?" Bo put his hand up to his eyes.
"Sort of." Luke sighed.
"You sure I didn't do drugs?" Bo asked.
"I'm sure, buddy." Cooter patted his shoulder.
"Well, I reckon we ain't bein' much help to ya." Luke whispered to Cooter.
Cooter tossed that away with his hand. "No worries at all."
"I wanna go home..." Bo leaned to the side.
"He's gonna throw up." Luke warned Cooter, who went to get a bucket.
"I ain't gonna throw up..." Bo looked at Luke.
"Okay, Bo whatever ya say." Luke let Bo slowly fall into his lap.
"I jus' wanna go home..." Bo coughed.
"Here." Cooter set the bucket next to Luke.
"Hey, Bo?" Luke turned Bo's face to look at him.
"Wha?" Bo asked.
"Are you okay to sit up?"
"Sure..." Bo wheezed pulling himself up.
"Open your mouth." Luke directed.
"Why?" Bo coughed.
"Just do it." Luke put an inhaler up to his lips.
"Whas that?" Bo opened his eyes.
"For your lungs." Luke replied. "Take a deep breath."
Bo did as Luke told him to.
"There ya go. That feel better?"
"Little bit." Bo shut his eyes again and leaned back on the wall.
"Ya okay?" Cooter asked.
"Gimmie a minute..." Bo wrapped his arms around his stomach.
"He's gonna be sick." Luke looked at Cooter.
Cooter put the bucket right in front of Bo, and he quickly started filling it.
Bo dropped to his knees and adjusted the bucket, continuing to heave for quite some time, until nothing was left, and Luke put a hand on his shoulder.
"You can stop now." He soothed.
"Can't." Bo continued with dry heaves.
Luke pulled Bo away from the bucket and cleaned his face, laying him down on his back.
"Deep breaths." Luke instructed, then he looked at Cooter. "I'm sorry man, we meant to help ya today, I swear."
"Hey, don't apologize." Cooter waved that down.
"Bo, look at me, huh?" Luke tapped his face.
Bo's eyes slowly opened, but they didn't focus on anything.
"There ya go." Luke pulled Bo into a sitting position and supported him against the wall.
"Luke?" Bo reached out: he couldn't see much of anything, just a bunch of blurs.
"I'm here." Luke took Bo's floating hand.
Bo fell asleep shortly after, and Luke situated him in the back seat of Cooter's truck to take a nap while he helped Cooter.
"Sorry about that." Luke sighed.
"Hey, don't worry about it." Cooter grinned. "I hope he's okay in there."
"He'll be alright, I'll get him in a hour or so when he ain't so high anymore." Luke and Cooter got to work on a car.
A few hours later, Bo woke up in Cooter's truck and had no idea how the hell he got there. His head hurt a little, but other than that he felt fine. He sat up and looked around. Seeing that he was at Cooter's garage, he stepped out of the truck and waked over to where he saw Cooter and Luke sticking out from under a car.
"What's goin' on?" Bo asked.
"You up?" Luke climbled out from under the car, followed by Cooter.
"Yeah, what's goin' on?"
"You was real high so I put ya down fer a little nap." Luke told him.
"Dang it. What time is it anyway?"
"Around 11:30." Cooter told him.
"Geeze, most of the day wasted." Bo sighed. "Can't we lower the dosage so I don't get so high?" Bo asked.
"I mean, I guess, but then it might hurt a little." Luke shrugged.
"I don't care, that's fine with me." Bo crossed his arms.
"Alright." Luke agreed.
"I'd enjoy it if I was you, Bo." Cooter chuckled.
At the Boar's Nest...
"Daisy, that is the 11th time today!" Boss shouted at the mess on the floor.
"I'm sorry Boss, this fella here won't stop grabbin' at me." Daisy pointed at the scum.
"You stop messin' up my establishment!" Boss waved his finger at the man. "You wasted 11 bowls of popcorn and 24 beers!" Boss shouted.
"Hey Boss, could we talk for a minute?" Daisy asked.
"What do you want, a raise? 'Cause ya can't have one!"
"No, I jus' wanna know why ya did what ya did fer Kenny Sawyers without nothin' in return."
"I just did is all." Boss snapped.
"I just wanna make sure that us Dukes ain't been snookered ner nothin." Daisy pressed. "What was your ulterior motive, Boss?" Daisy begged.
"I didn't have no motive! I just happened to have been kidnapped myself when I was his age! You know how it is! Now leave me alone!" Boss headed off to eat something: a lot of somethings.
"I'm sorry Boss, I didn't-" Boss was already gone. Daisy started to clean up the mess on the floor: for the 11th time. She couldn't wait to get home and tell her family that Boss Hogg had really done something nice just for the heck of it for once.
When Daisy got home, Jesse was making dinner, and Luke was sitting in a living room chair, staring at a sleeping Bo.
"Howdy, y'all." Daisy came in through the kitchen door.
"Hi, honey." Jesse waved as she passed through the kitchen.
"Hey, Luke." Daisy sat in a chair next to him.
"How was your day at the Boar's Nest?"
"I spilled a couple times on account of so no good, but I found out why Boss was bein' so nice last week." Daisy started.
Jesse came out of the kitchen. "This I wanna hear."
"What?" Bo sat up.
"Hi, Bo." Daisy kissed his cheek.
"Howdy. What's this y'all wanna hear?" Bo asked.
"Boss Hogg wanted to help with Kenny's rescue because he too was kidnapped when he was Kenny's age." Daisy announced.
"You mean there weren't no ulterior motive?" Jesse asked.
"Don't seem like it." Daisy smiled.
"I didn't know Boss was ever kidnapped as a kid." Bo shrugged.
"Me either." Luke said.
"Well, at least it makes sense now." Jesse returned to the kitchen.
"How about you, sugar, how you feelin'?" Daisy sat next to Bo.
"I've been better, but I'm alright." Bo sighed.
"Tired?"
"Yeah."
"You've been sleepin' for two hours, cuz." Luke chuckled.
"I didn't sleep much at night, as you know." Bo looked at him.
"Yeah, sorry." Luke sighed.
After dinner everyone went to bed. Bo made Luke give him half a dose every 6 hours so that things wouldn't be so bad.
