It had been just over two months since the Banshee affair in Ireland went down. Harry and Luna's lives had returned to a sense of normalcy. Harry had began his job as an Auror at the ministry of Magic. He and Ron had been working on a case of a smuggling ring of wizard trying to bring illegal tadpole tails into the U.K. Overall it had been pretty boring since he had started working, but in a way Harry and Ron where relieved they didn't have to deal with Death eaters or Banshees any longer. After a long day chasing leads Harry and Ron decided to go out for some drinks after work. They apparated to one of their favorite spots called "The flaming hippogriff." harry and Ron took a seat and both ordered a fire whiskey.
"How's Hermione liking her job?" Asked Harry.
"She loves it. She's been super busy tracking down poachers." Ron said as he downed his shot. "We need to make time to all get together sometime."
"So when are you two having kids?" Harry jokingly asked.
"You're so full of it mate." Ron jabbed back.
After a few more drinks the friends said their goodbyes. Harry apparated home. Luna had just finished giving Teddy a bath. He had on a fresh new onesie and his specter specs. Harry walked over and gave Luna a kiss.
"Long day today?" Asked Luna.
"Yeah, still no concrete leads on those smugglers." Harry said as he collapsed onto the couch.
Just before Luna sat down next to Harry there was a knock at the door. Luna walked over and answered it. Standing on the other side was none other than Seamus Finnigan.
"Greeting friend. May I come in?" Seamus said.
Luna invited Seamus in. he walked over and sat onto a chair opposite of Harry.
"Seamus! Great to see you again." Harry sat up straight. "How've you been since the Banshee affair?"
"Pretty good actually. Paul got out of St. Mungos and we've been fixing all the damage to his house the Banshee caused." Seamus explained.
"I'm glad Paul is doing better." Luna replied.
"What brings you back over to the U.K?" Asked Harry.
"I've just stopped by to give my thanks to you guys for helping me out in my time of need." Seamus reached into his pocket and pulled out a small capsule. With a wave of his wand the capsule expanded into three presents. One for Harry, one for Luna, and one for Teddy.
"Thank you Seamus, but you really didn't need too." Luna said.
"Nonsense." Seamus replied. "It's the least I could do after all you guys did for me."
Luna opened her present up first. It was some sort of horn.
"It's the horn of a rare beast called a Buzzer Stag. They're native to New Zealand." Seamus explained. "Thought it would be useful in your research."
"I love it." replied Luna
Harry reached down and opened his present next. It was a framed picture of him, Luna, and Teddy.
"I had to ask Ron and Hermione for the picture. I hope you guys don't mind." Seamus said.
"Not at all. It's perfect." Harry replied. It was obvious he was very touched.
Harry walked over the fireplace mantle and sat the picture on it front and center. Luna picked up Teddy and helped him open his gift. It was a toy broomstick not to dissimilar to the one that Sirius had gotten Harry when he was a baby.
"I remembered you saying Sirius got you one when you where little, so I thought it'd be cute to keep the tradition alive." Seamus said.
"Plus it'll be funny seeing him annoy the piss out of ya flying around all over the place." He jokingly added.
Harry teared up at the thoughtful gift Seamus had bought Teddy. He and Luna thanked Seamus for all the gifts and for stopping by.
"Do you want anything to drink? Some tea? Water maybe?" Luna asked Seamus.
"No thank you. I must be going soon." Seamus replied.
No sooner than Seamus had left an owl landed on the windowsill. No one in the room recognized who the owl belonged too. Attached to its leg was a letter addressed to Harry and Luna. Luna carefully pulled the letter off the young tawny owls leg.
"It's from Draco!" Luna was shocked.
"What could Malfoy want?" Harry said bluntly.
Harry and Luna began reading.
"Dear Potter. I would be delighted if you and Loony Lovegood would come over to Malfoy Manor next weekend. We're having a bit of a celebration and I'd appreciate if you'd come.
Sincerely yours, Draco Malfoy."
"Pffft, he's even rude in his letters." Harry moaned. " There's no way we're going anywhere near Malfoy Manor."
"I don't know Harry, I think we should." Luna admitted. "Maybe Draco's changed for the better."
"He called you Loony Lovegood in his letter. Somehow I doubt that." Harry said.
"Maybe that's just how he is. This may be his own weird way of making amends." Luna suggested.
"What if it's some kind of trap? The Malfoy's where death eaters after all." Harry reminded Luna.
"But they turned on Voldemort in the end. Besides, ever since the battle of Hogwarts the Ministry has been breathing down their necks. I'd doubt they'd wanna cause to much of a hassle yet." Replied Luna. "We can just go for a bit Harry."
"I guess if you really want to, but I still don't trust him one bit." Harry admitted.
Luna took the invitation over to her desk and had it signed using her self writing quill confirming her and Harry's attendance. She carefully retied the note to the owls leg and sent it on its way back.
It was Harry's turn to make dinner. As he stood over the stove waving his wand to put all of the ingredients into the pot his mind raced with the thought of Malfoy. He just couldn't believe that anything that involved Draco was purely innocent. After Dinner Luna put Teddy to bed before joining Harry in their room. She could tell Harry was still bothered by the invitation.
"Thank you for giving Draco a chance." Luna said as she gave Harry a kiss on the cheek.
"That's what I love about you Luna. You see the good in everyone." Harry Gazed into Luna's eye's before giving her a goodnight kiss.
Harry tossed and turn for a bit before falling asleep. His anxiety about the event getting the best of him. The next morning as his alarm clock rang throughout 12 Grimmauld place Harry raced to get ready for work. Miraculous his alarm didn't wake up Luna or Teddy who enjoy sleeping in much later. With the flick of his wand Harry was out of his pajamas and into his Auror Uniform. After grabbing a bite for breakfast Harry walked over to his fireplace, activated the flue network and was off to the office.
It was a pretty boring day at work all things considered. He and Ron had made no more progress on the smuggling case. When lunch time inevitably came around Harry asked Ron if he could join him and Hermione for lunch.
"Sure mate." Ron responded.
He knew Harry well enough to know something was on his mind but decided not to press him on it until they met up with Hermione. Today Ron had promised Hermione that he'd meet her in a nearby park for lunch. After punching out Harry and Ron wasted no time apparating to her. Upon hearing the loud crack Hermione looked over and was surprised to see Harry along side her boyfriend.
"Harry! What a nice surprise. I though you usually went home for lunch." Hermione greeted him.
"Nice to see you too sweetie." Ron joking replied to Hermione for failing to greet him too.
"Oh come now Ron, I see you every day." Hermione jokingly fired back. The three friends laughed.
After chit chatting with both of them for a bit Harry put on his serious face.
"Did you guys get any strange invitations by owl recently?" Harry asked Ron and Hermione.
"Nah, I don't think so mate." Ron replied while taking a big bite of a sandwich Hermione had made. "Our mails been pretty boring lately."
"Why Harry? What did you get?" Hermione seemed concerned.
"I got an invitation to a party... hosted by Malfoy." Harry told them.
"Woah really?!" Ron seemed shocked.
"He invited you to Malfoy manor? That seems a bit odd to me." Hermione admitted.
"I though so too, but Luna seems to think we should go." Harry didn't seem to thrilled.
"What if it's a trap? His family where Death Eaters after all." Ron said.
"What do you think Hermione? Should I go?" Harry asked Hermione.
"Well, I guess there'd be no harm in it. Even if it is a trap you and Luna are no light weights with a wand." Hermione said.
"Draco has been pretty quiet since school ended. Might be nice to know what he's been up too." Ron added. " And besides you said it was an invite for a party right? So there should be loads more people there than just you guys."
"I guess you guys are right. There's no harm in stopping by for a minute.
They finished their lunch before heading back to the Ministry to finish their boring day at work. Harry went home as soon as he got off work. Luna was sitting in her office going over some old bestiary manuscripts while Teddy was taking a nap. Harry greeted Luna with a hug.
"I did some thinking and I think you're right we should give Malfoy a chance." Harry admitted.
"Thanks Harry. I really appreciate that." Luna replied.
Harry's week at work felt like it went by at a snails pace. Chasing lead after lead that went no where the weekend had finally arrived. Harry and Luna had to be at Malfoy Manor at three in the afternoon. Luna was the first to get ready. She wore a purple sweater, light brown dress pants and her specter specs sitting upon her head. She dressed Teddy to mach her. Harry decided to wear a nice blazer Molly Weasley had gotten him and a pair of his dress pants he wears to work.
"All right, I guess its time to do this." Harry sounded hesitant.
"It'll be alright, Teddy and I will be there with you." Luna reassured Harry.
The time had finally come. It was time to go to Malfoy manor.
