The next chapter is posted! Enjoy :)
Natalie was starting to get restless the longer she waited in this tiny ass box of a cell. It literally had to be only a little more than half the size of her studio apartment.
It didn't help either that she had no idea how long she has been inside the cell. There were obviously no clocks in here. And she didn't see any windows to the outside world.
Only thing akin to windows in her cell were the slits in the wall that somewhat looked into the room next to her.
The being in the room next to her must be feeling just as fidgety and restless as her too. Seeing as for a while now, she'd see him walk by through the slits.
He hasn't looked in on her or attempted to make some sort of contact with her since that first time they saw each other through the small openings.
Natalie can only hope whoever is keeping her here didn't decide to put her in with the thing taking up space next door.
She closes her eyes and lets out a deep, long sigh. Then runs her hands through her hair, pushing some of the long strands back over her shoulder.
Then she jumped slightly when she heard a rattling click coming from the other end of the room. Her eyes caught movement as she saw the door handle rattle then turn.
Not a couple moments later, the door squealed open, and someone entered the room.
They closed the door behind them before turning to her. It was a man in some type of military uniform. He gave her a fake smile and approached her.
Natalie tensed up and shot from the cot into standing position.
"Who are you!? And why the hell did you bring me here!?" She practically yelled.
Yeyinde heard the loud sound of metal grinding against metal. It came from the room next door that the female was in. Not a few moments later, he heard her shouting.
The young hunter went over to one of the slits and peered through it. His eyes narrowed when he saw there was now another ooman in there with her.
"Good evening, Miss. Ricci. I'm Lieutenant Pearson. I'm here to ask you a few questions about what you witnessed in the alleyway back in Wildwood." He stated.
Natalie was nervous, but she was pissed too.
"Why the hell should I answer any of your questions? You people fucking kidnapped me and are holding me against my will!" She snapped, with her fists tightly clenched at her sides.
His smile faltered a little, but he didn't lose his composure at all.
"We're very sorry about that. But you did witness something big. And it's just something we can't let the public know about." He replied.
"What are talking about? I didn't see shit!" Natalie continued to snap.
He arched a blonde brow, "Really? You sure about that? I think it be quite hard to miss something that big. Unless you seen him before. Though I highly doubt you have."
"Him? Him who? Just who are you talking about?" She really was getting frustrated and confused now.
What is it they think she saw.
Lt. Pearson let's out a small sigh, "Please, Miss. Ricci. It is truly in your best interest that you don't play games with us. And I'm not leaving here until you give me some answers."
"I'm not playing any fucking games! I swear I don't know what the fuck you're talking about! I was on my way home from a date, I heard shouting coming from an alleyway I was passing by and went to go investigate!" She said, voice gradually rising with each sentence.
"And when you got there, what did you see?" He asked.
"Three guys arguing with a fourth guy. Didn't see who they were because their backs were turned to me. Next thing I know, one of them pulls out a fucking gun and shoots the guy in front of him.
I freaked out and ducked down behind the dumpster. And when I did, I accidentally kicked a soda can that was on the ground. Then heard them walking over to where I was hiding.
Next thing I know, I hear a shit ton of yelling and shooting go on for the next couple minutes or so. I didn't look to see what was happening. I was too scared to move and trying not to piss myself." She hastily explained, hoping that will be enough.
"So, you didn't see anything else beyond that? Didn't get curious and peak out from behind your hiding spot and see what all the ruckus was about? Didn't hear any strange noises or see anything out of the ordinary?" He continued.
When she thinks about it more, Natalie swore she heard strange grunts every now and then and also believed she heard what sounded kind of like a roar at some point during the scuffle between gunshots.
Still, she shook her head, "No, as I said, I was too afraid to look. Why do you ask? Just what did you expect me to see? Fucking Big Foot or something?"
Lt. Pearson just smirks, "Oh, he was big alright. But definitely no Big Foot. And I find it hard to believe you missed something like that. Especially, since you did just see him not that long ago, during your stay here."
Natalie furrowed her brows in slight confusion at first. But then it clicked.
"You're talking about the strange being in the room next to me, aren't you?" She inquired, barely above a whisper.
"Affirmative, same one that's watching up right now." He stated.
Her gaze slowly shifted from the man in front of her to one of the slits in the wall. And she swore she saw a partial solid mass standing by one of them, barely moving.
"What is it?" She asked.
The man just shrugs, "We're still unsure ourselves at the moment. Only thing we all seem to agree on is that he's not local. And by that I mean to our world."
Natalie's blue eyes widened, "Wait, you're saying...he's an alien?"
Lt. Pearson nodded, "Yes, we do believe so. And judging by the armor and weapons we took off of him, his kind appear to be very technologically advanced. And both him and his weapons are quite a huge find for us."
"Ok, so you got a big, green alien. Hooray, for you. Why in the hell do you still have me here then? I never seen this thing before I woke up in this cell next to it. And since that's the case, I shouldn't have to be here anymore. So, in other words, let me the hell out of here." She told him.
"Afraid we can't do that. You have still seen too much and know too much. Because of this, you'll have to stay here for the time being." He replied.
"What!? Like hell you are!? You can't do that!? I'm an American Citizen and I have rights! And you have NO right to keep me imprisoned here!" Natalie argued, not believing what she was hearing.
"Wrong, we have every right to silence anyone we deem could pose a threat to national security and cause a public panic. You belong to us now." He countered.
"No, this isn't right! I have a family out there who will be looking for me! You can't just keep me here!" She continued.
Lt. Pearson just smiles, "That a fact?"
Natalie gives him a bewildered look. Then she watched as he pulled up the tablet he was holding at his side and tapped the screen.
"Natalie Marie Ricci. Born January 18th, 1990, in Long Branch, NJ. Parents were James and Patricia Ricci. Both deceased. Older brother, Tyler born May 11th, 1987, Deceased.
Your brother died of a heroin overdose when you were fourteen years old. And you ran away from home a year later at age fifteen. Multiple calls and visits from the police were called to your family home over the years..."
"Stop, just stop." She lightly begged, cutting him off.
"Apparently, most of these calls came from the kids. Telling the police their parents had frequently abused them. A recommendation to remove children and place them with D.Y.F.S was recommended.
But was overturned when parents got clean and sought parental counseling. And while calls to the police subsided over the years, concerned teachers still reported suspicion of continued abuse.
James Ricci died of a cocaine overdose back in June of 2008 and his with Patricia Ricci died in a car accident in November 2011, she had a blood alcohol level of .08.12 at the time of her death.
Whereabouts of their daughter who was the only surviving member of the family were unknown." He finished.
By now, Natalie's cheeks were wet with tears.
"You bastard. You had no right, no right to pry into my personal life like that." She said, as a couple more tears left her eyes.
"As I stated earlier, you belong under our care now. And to be sure that there would be no one out there looking for you, we dug up your history. Your basically no one. Not much more than the homeless that litter the street and barely live under the radar. If we had to guess, you only maybe had a small group of friends and that's it. Even so, there is nothing they can do to help.
So, when It's all said and done, I think it be wise on your part to just cooperate with us and do as we say. You do this, and we can assure that no harm will come to you." Lt. Pearson informed her.
Natalie just stood there frozen, slowly shaking her head.
This can't be real. This can't be happening. All this, and for what!? Because she stumbled into an alley that just happened to have an alien show up in it and filet a few scumbags? This couldn't have been a worse case of wrong place, wrong time if there ever was one.
"Now that we got that all squared away, do you need anything at this time? Extra blankets, food?" He inquires.
She just glared at him, "Bite me."
The man just smirks, enjoying her feistiness. That attitude here won't last long. Especially, if they want to run tests on her. Some may involve their new extraterrestrial guest in the room next to her.
They wanted to study everything about him. His anatomy, how he reacts to stimuli, take many different types of samples from him. And they may want to see how he interacts with one of their kind. This woman may prove to be the perfect test dummy for those experiments.
"Alright then, have a good rest of the evening then. Someone will bring you dinner in a little while." He stated.
Then he turned on his heal and approached the door. He ran a key card over a pad next to the door. The red button flickered green, and she heard the locking mechanism on the door disengage. Before he gripped the handle and pushed it down and opened the heavy, thick door.
Once it closed behind him, Natalie heard the locks shift back into place.
She slowly turned around and went back to the cot. Then she sat on it and pushed herself back until her back met the wall. Natalie then pulled her knees up to her chest, wrapped her arms around them, and laid her head down into them and started to silently cry.
Yeyinde stood and listened as the female and male ooman chatted back and forth. He may not have understood what they were saying. But it was clear, the female was upset and didn't like what the male was saying to her.
Then at some point, he saw what looking like small drops of water come out of her eyes and roll down her cheeks as he appeared to read something off of a flat handheld screen.
The drops of water stopped briefly as they exchanged a few more words.
Then when the ooman male left, the young hunter saw the female approach the cot, sit down, wrap her arms around herself, and started to make those faint whining noises again.
He may not know her language. But her body language says it all. She was in great distress and upset.
Yeyinde reached up and placed his hand near the small slit. And started doing something that was completely natural to his kind when there was a female in distress.
He began to purr to her.
Natalie was crying for not even a couple minutes when she started to hear another strange sound coming from the wall. She slowly looked up and saw the strange being, peering through one of the openings, looking down at her.
There was this strange smooth rumbling sound coming from him. It was a sound different from the clicking, chirping, and grunting sounds she heard him make earlier.
She continued to stare up at him, with red glassy eyes. His strange eyes never left hers, and he had yet to stop making that sound.
The closest sound that came to mind for Natalie, is it sounded like a large cat purring. It strangely came off as almost...comforting. The young woman was unsure why he was generating such a sound.
It could've been just a natural sound to him. Though this is the first time she has heard him make that sound since they have been stuck here.
Natalie didn't move at first. Then she gradually laid down on her side. She still had her knees hiked up, as she laid there somewhat curled up.
The being still kept his gaze on her and continued making that sound.
Eventually, Natalie found her eyes beginning to droop. And as she began to fall asleep, that strange yet soothing purr was the last thing she heard as darkness took ahold of her.
Yeyinde's purr gradually died down once he realized the female's breathing evened out and she fell asleep.
Neither were unaware that others were watching them from screens in a darkened room down the hall. And the ones watching, continued doing so with interest.
Until Next Time ;)
