Harley chewed on the pencil as she stared at her empty notepad.
"Grand gestures...grand gestures...Oh! Got it! I'll send a thousand red roses to her lab!"
A thousand red roses? Yeah, cause' that's never been done before.
"I thought I was alone." Harley growled at the voice.
I'm you. You'll never be alone.
Harley arched an eyebrow. Now why did that sound like a threat?
Choosing to ignore the voice, Harley stared thinking;
What was a grand gesture that Harley could do to show Ivy how much she loved her and wanted her back?
Harley sat back and tapped the pencil against her chin.
Ivy hated humanity but she was dating a human who had no powers, wasn't insane and didn't hate what people were doing to the world...maybe.
Ok, she had a lab and she was trying to make the world a better place by helping plants so what if...what if Harley stopped those responsible for all the environmental damage and showed that to Ivy as a declaration of love?!
Yes! That could work!
"I might be insane but I'm a fucking genius!"
Renee was working a case tonight and she wouldn't be back till late so Ivy decided to head down to the lab and see if she could get some work done.
She liked working alone; it meant she could think and plan without any interruptions. She only had a few people working for her and they were ok but in truth, Ivy liked her own company.
As Ivy reached the lab, she punched in her code and the door slid back as the lights came on.
It was clean and clear, just as she had left it.
Glancing at one of the cells she had built to house different experiments that could prove harmful, Ivy stopped and stared wide eyed at the three people hanging by their wrists in her cell.
"What the fuck?" She whispered.
Upon seeing her, they all started struggling and trying to speak but with the duct tape over their mouths it was proving impossible.
Ivy walked up to the glass and stared at the people.
Who were they?
"How did you get in here?"
"Only with a little help from yours' truly!" A voice answered a bit too enthusiastically.
Ivy jumped and spun around, seeing Harley standing behind her with a huge grin on her face. Her clothes were torn and light scratches with blood smudged on her pale skin made her look like she'd been in a fight with a roll of barbed wire.
"Harley..."
"Hey Red. I've missed ya." Harley said sounding almost shy.
But only anger shone in Ivy's eyes as she glared at Harley.
"What the hell Harley?! Who are these people and why are they in my lab?!"
Harley didn't bat an eyelid, so sure of herself as she walked towards Ivy and took her hand.
"Let me introduce you to these people."
Ivy let herself be led into her own lab cell.
"This guy right here with the black tie is John Grimshaw. He is responsible for pumping thousands of gallons of oil into the ocean. Next is Adam Dredger and he makes billions from cutting down trees and building high rises in their place, and finally we have Sandra Pearson, she makes sure that the very air we breathe is polluted as all hell."
Ivy frowned at them.
"They sound like horrible people." She muttered.
Harley nodded in agreement.
"They are. Now, I'll be honest, the jobs I listed off are not what they're actually known for to the public but when you look into it, this is all they do. It's covered up with titles like CEO or directing manager yada yada, you get the picture."
"I do but Harley, why are they here? In my lab."
Harley turned to face Ivy and took hold of her other hand.
"This is my gift to you Red. These are some of the world's worst when it comes to the environment and I know how much that stuff means to you so I rounded them up and brought them back here so you can kill 'em all."
Ivy swallowed.
"Kill them?"
"Uh huh. I wanted to do something to show you how much I love you."
Ivy stared at Harley in shock.
"Are you serious?"
Harley nodded and then cupped Ivy's cheek.
"I want you back Red."
Ivy sighed.
"I'm with Renee."
Harley dropped her hands completely and looked at the people hanging from the ceiling.
"Yeah but that's not gonna last. I mean come on, you and a police detective?" Harley scoffed.
Ivy frowned.
"W-why wouldn't it?"
"Because it's just not a good match! She literally defends people and you hate them!"
"I don't...hate people." Ivy said, folding her arms defensively.
"Yeah ya do Red and hey, I do too. That's why you and her, it won't work Ivy. You know it, I know it."
"And you think you and I were any better?" Ivy snapped.
"So much better! We had fun, didn't we? Remember all those heists we used to go on and the parties we crashed, that was great wasn't it?"
Ivy sighed.
"Harley, it can't just be about fun. I wanted-I was-serious about you."
Harley turned back to Ivy, frowning at her.
"I was serious about you."
"Were you? Because it seemed like every chance you got, you were out fucking Joker."
"Yeah I was fucking him but I don't love him."
"That doesn't matter. I don't fuck people when I'm with someone."
"Then you're uptight."
"It's called being loyal YOU FUCKING HEARTLESS BITCH!" Ivy roared.
Harley stared at the red head who was seething with rage and breathing quite hard.
Even the people hanging above their heads had gone quiet.
Ivy sighed and shook her head.
"You know what? I don't want to talk about this anymore and especially not in front of...them."
"Red I-"
"Just get them out of here." Ivy muttered as she left the cell and went back to her desk.
Harley followed her but instead of the fight that Ivy thought was coming, Harley just stood in front of her; like she was at school and had been sent to the principal's office.
Ivy kept her head down as she sat in her chair.
"Red?"
"What Harley?" Ivy bit out.
"I really miss you. I do. That's why I did all this." She said softly.
Ivy raised her head and looked at Harley.
" You shouldn't have. It's not going to change anything Harley. I love Renee and we want this to work."
Harley nodded like she was accepting that fact and turned to walk away but before she could leave Ivy's lab, she stopped and turned around.
"Tell me something,"
Ivy looked at her and blue eyes locked with green as Harley spoke;
"Tell me you don't think about me."
"Harley-"
"Just tell me. Tell me I don't cross your mind, ever and I'll leave you alone."
Ivy's fist clenched on her desk and she hung her head, closing her eyes.
"I...can't."
A small smile of triumph tugged at the blonde's lips.
"Then I guess I'll be seeing you around Red."
