SainthoodSaint14: Woah... bit dark, don't you think?
Disclaimer: I do not own Transformers Prime. I only own the OC George Edwards/Bladewolf.
Things had been quiet lately in terms of encounters with the Decepticons, but at base? Well, certain people and 'bots were walking on eggshells ever since June Darby, Jack's mom, was brought in on the secret due to MECH and Airachnid holding her hostage.
Right now, I was returning to base with Cliffjumper, Bulkhead and Bumblebee who had just picked up Miko and Raf. However, when we arrived at the base, we found Ratchet, Arcee, Jack and June were here as well. Once Miko and Raf got out of Bulkhead, the 3 of us transformed as Miko said excitedly to Raf. "Did you feel the G's on that last turn? Bulkhead's an animal!" Miko froze when she noticed June there. "Remember when this used to be a secret clubhouse?"
"Uh, don't worry, Ms. Darby. We were wearing seatbelts." Raf appeased her a little, and to make sure they were alright, which I doubt Miko was in terms of the seatbelts.
"I'm sure you were, Rafael. Hi, Miko. How's school going?" She told him before addressing her.
"Why? What'd you hear?"
"Let's do this thing, Jack." Arcee said after nodding at me and Cliffjumper.
"But I just got here. I brought sandwiches." June said and pulled up her purse and opening it up a little, revealing some wrapped sandwiches.
"Mom!" Jack said with the embarrassment of a son who feels embarrassed by his mother. God knows I knew what that felt like, especially since Solus Prime was my Carrier now and she took any chance she could to tease me with Megatronus joining in a few times, much to my annoyance at feeling like a 6 year old child who has a crush on Nicole Kidman.
...Don't judge, everyone has had a crush on her and had fantasies about her ever since watching the Batman film she was in.
"Look, I really need to help Arcee test her upgraded tracking system." Jack told his mom as he began walking with the femme that was holding some cords.
"Well, just be careful." She advised her son.
"There's nothing to be careful about. It's a routine diagnostic." Arcee tried to ease the human mother of any worries.
"Are you sure you need Jack for that?"
Arcee froze in her steps and we 'bots heard a very annoyed growl leave her that she barely kept in. And because I was her sparkmate, I could feel the annoyance in her.
"Uh oh." Me, Bulkhead and Cliffjumper said as we exchanged looks with each other, knowing this was not good when Arcee was angry. When Arcee is angry... you best stay clear of her path unless you're the one who she's angry at. Primus knows me and Cliff have felt her wrath when she scolded us for a race we did several months back.
Seriously, is she our mother?
"Bladewolf!" Ratchet called, getting my attention. "I need you back in the field to investigate an odd magnetic disturbance."
"Done!" I said immediately to get out of the base and away from this awkward moment.
"I'll go with!" Miko offered and began running over to me when Bulkhead stopped her.
"Not this time, Miko." I told her sternly, as this wasn't the first time she'd hitched along with me for a mission, though those were mostly recon missions and not too dangerous. However, this time, I wasn't having it.
"Stay here." Bulkhead warned his charge.
Miko groaned in annoyance and sulked off back to the other humans.
"Why aren't you going with him?" June asked with a raised eyebrow.
Miko threw me and Bulkhead a glare. "Someone thinks it's not safe."
I was at the Groundbridge, waiting for it to start up and threw Ratchet an impatient glare when he was taking too long. Ratchet rolled his optics and fired the bridge up and I nodded, about to leave when Arcee called out. "Wait up, babe! I'm going with."
I shrugged and we walked through the bridge to our designated location.
The Groundbridge spit us out in a sort of rocky and desert area of the world. Can't be sure where exactly but the place doesn't look exactly teeming with human life so we don't have to worry about getting spotted.
"I wouldn't take it personally, Arcee." I was saying, knowing Arcee was still miffed about June. I walked alongside her, my arm around her waist as I tried to reassure her and ease the annoyance she was currently feeling. "June is just... protective. She just wants to protect her son."
Arcee scoffed. "Well, I protected her son for months before she had a clue. Suddenly she wakes up to reality and I'm not enough."
"No kidding." A new yet familiar voice speaks up behind us. We whirl around to find the source, only to look down and see Miko standing there. "Can't we ban her from the base?" She advised for us to do. Seems she doesn't like the idea of a parent no less hovering around the base.
"How do I not keep expecting this?" I threw my servos up as I asked this.
"Gonna need a bridge." Arcee said with a shake of her helm as she went to do just that.
"Wait, don't send me back to helicopter mom." Miko begged. "It's just… I miss the way things were." She told us in a bit of a sad voice. While I didn't like that she went ahead and snuck through the portal… again, I get what she meant. Before June found out about the Autobots and Decepticons, the humans and I were free to do whatever we wanted with the other Autobots. But since June found out, she'd kinda taken on the role of protective mother for all of us. Yeah, even me and it was slightly annoying. Though to be fair, I spend most of my time as my Cybertronian form than human form lately.
It seemed Miko's words hit Arcee in the right spot. "Strike that, Ratchet. It's only recon." She cut the transmission before looking at me. "She's safe with us."
"Sweet!" The stowaway is ecstatic about coming along as I picked her up and put her on my right shoulder. "Crank up track 7, Blade."
"No."
"Aww, c'mon! Bulk's not here and you're my 2nd favorite 'Con smasher who listens to heavy metal music." Miko complained.
"That's your own fault for coming with us then." I said with a smirk as she glared at me. "Besides, we don't know what could be out here and loud music isn't really the best thing."
Arcee nodded in agreement. "A scout should be silent but deadly."
Miko started snickering at what she said while I rolled my optics. "Grow up. Miko."
"Do I even want to know?" Arcee asked, looking at me with a hand on her hip and an optic ridge raised.
"Nope. Cliff would probably never let us live it down." I said as I looked at the Energon scanner that started beeping. "The signal's close. Looks like Ratchet's magnetic flux is coming from-"
We heard the sound of grunting and metal on metal before we ducked behind cover and looked to an open clearing to see none other than... Airachnid and Breakdown fighting each other for some kind of object that the scanner was detecting. Airachnid lunged for it but Breakdown grabbed her by the back of her spider legs and threw her aside.
"Airachnid." Arcee growled.
"And Breakdown." I added.
"And they're mashing it up!" Miko said excitedly.
"Over that." I nodded at the device. "The source of the magnetic disturbance. Megatron most likely detected it as well and sent Breakdown to collect it... only to run into Airachnid as well."
"All right, what's the plan?" Miko asked us, causing Arcee and I to look at her before we looked at each other. I then picked her up and put her down out of sight.
"Stay here. I mean it." I warned her. Bulk would kill me if Miko got hurt under our watch.
"Aww." Miko complained.
Arcee and I deployed our weapons and nodded at each other before I aimed just as Airachnid picked up the device and I shot it out of her hands. She looked surprised before looking at us and smirked in delight.
"Arcee and Bladewolf! Nice to see you again." She said and looked at me. "You too, lover boy."
"I think I'm gonna be sick." I muttered as I remembered the kiss Airachnid gave me the last time we met.
"Lover boy?" Breakdown repeated as he got to his pedes.
"Who asked you?" Airachnid retorted.
I transformed into my jet mode and Arcee jumped on as I blasted off and spun hard enough to send Arcee flying at Airachnid while I went crashing right into Breakdown, transforming back to robot mode and started punching the 1-eyed Decepticon. Breakdown transformed his right hand into his hammer and clobbered me in the face, knocking me off him. Breakdown then tackled me but I rolled over and kicked him off into the rocks.
"You might not be Bulkhead..." Breakdown said as he got to his feet. "But I'll settle for killing any Autobot."
"I'll make sure to tell Bulkhead that I left enough of you for him to finish off." I retorted before we charged at each other and continued fighting. I ducked Breakdown's hammer and gave him an uppercut that sent him onto his back. When he got to his feet again, Airachnid was slammed into him thanks to Arcee.
Arcee and I stood together as we faced our opponents. Breakdown glared at us before he spotted the magnetic device beside him and picked it up with a chuckle. "Thank you." He said as he activated it.
"Do you even know what that does?! It isn't a toy!" Airachnid yelled before she began retreating but Arcee chased after her, only for Airachnid to drill her way out of here.
Suddenly I was being pulled towards Breakdown. "Woah!" I grunted as I fell onto my back and I saw the same was happening with Arcee. The 2 of us ended up lifted into the air as Breakdown was taking enjoyment in whatever he was doing.
"What's this do?" Breakdown asked as he pressed another button, this one sending Arcee and I flying and crashing into the rocks hard.
I groaned and heard transforming, looking to see Breakdown driving away in his vehicle mode. I sighed and shook my helm as Miko ran up to us.
"The 'Cons are getting away!" Miko told us as if we didn't already know. "Hey! My phone!" I looked to see her phone was stuck to my chassis and she tried to pull it off only to get no result. "It's stuck!"
I stood and shook dirt and rocks off me before looking around for Arcee. "Where's Arcee?" 'Baby, where are you?'
"Ugh! Why don't you just marry her?" Miko grumbled in annoyance, most likely from how we were ignoring her.
"I'm right behind you."
I paused, my optics wide, before I stepped forward a bit and looked as best as I could over my shoulder and saw that she really was behind me... she was stuck to my back!
'Well, this is a unexpected predicament.' I said to her through our bond.
'You think?' She replied sarcastically.
"Wow, she's got your back." Miko said with an amused grin. "Literally."
"Not funny." I said with a groan before I contacted base. "Ratchet, Arcee and I found the magnetic disturbance, but we've ran into a little problem."
"What kind of problem?" Ratchet asked.
"Arcee and I... have been magnetized together."
There was a pause on Ratchet's end before he asked as if to make sure he heard properly. "You've been magnetized... together?"
"Hah! They're closer than ever before! Flareup, Chromia, you 2 need hear this!" We can hear Cliffjumper laughing in the background. Oh great, now Cliff, Flareup and Chromia were never gonna let us forget about this.
"They're inseparable." Miko offered her own joke.
"Stop with the jokes, please?" I begged everyone. I was gonna die of embarrassment soon enough. "Ratchet, any idea what we're dealing with and how we can be unstuck?"
"It's a Polarity Gauntlet. A deceptively simple but diabolical creation. As for how to get you 2 free, it may simply be a residual magnetic charge providing your current… attraction."
I could hear Cliffjumper, Flareup AND Chromia laughing in the background. Great, now Ratchet was even adding in his own joke. Who was next, Optimus?
"Guys, we get it. Arcee and I are already together, no need to tease us as if we aren't." I said with annoyance.
"But I'm afraid retrieving the gauntlet is our surest bet for reversing its effect. Once Megatron gets his hands on the gauntlet…" Ratchet trailed off, letting us fill in the blanks.
"He'll use it for a whole lot more than attaching notes and family photos to the fridge." Jack remarked.
"Jack, I'm not following." We hear his mom answer.
"Madam, we are forged of metal alloy. If Megatron could repel us with the flick of a switch, we might never again have another shot at him." Ratchet informs June of the direness of the device.
"Instant force field." Raf simplifies it.
"Worse yet, he might use it to meld us all into a scrap pile." He adds a bit more on how bad this is. "The good news is, the gauntlet hasn't traveled far. I would strongly advise pursuit." He informs us.
"Looks like we're walking then since transforming is off the table." I said as I faced the direction Breakdown drove off in.
"Yeah, I don't want to be snapped in half." Arcee remarked.
"Sweet! I'll take point." Miko begins to run off.
"Absolutely not!" I lightly yelled.
"Not this time, kid." Arcee stopped her too.
"What? But you said—"
"That was recon. This is war. I'm not risking your well-being just so you can hit your daily adrenaline quota. Ratchet, Miko needs a bridge."
"Coming up."
"You think Jack's mom is bad? You sound just like her!" Miko huffed before the Groundbridge opened and Miko walked through it and it then shut.
I then started walking in the direction Breakdown drove off in. The signal was coming from that direction anyway, so it helped that I know where I was going. It was silent between me and Arcee as I walked on.
"I swear, if Cliff so much as makes another joke when we get back... I'm ripping his horns off." I said.
"I'll join you." There was a grin in Arcee's words when she said that before it got silent again. I saw an abandoned gas station up ahead and was walking towards it when Arcee spoke up again. "Wolf, you don't think I sound like June, do you? She's overprotective, I'm just... protective."
"Totally different." I assured her. "Try having 2 Primes as parents and have them tease you every time."
Arcee chuckled. "That must be annoying."
"It was bad when I was human and in my old world." I said with an amused shake of my head. "Those were the days."
"Do you miss them?" Arcee suddenly asked. "Your other family from your old world?"
"...Yeah." I said softly. "While I've moved on, a part of me will always miss them. But I have a new family now with you, and everyone else at base.
"Even June and Miko?" Arcee asked with a grin.
I chuckled and rolled my optics. "June will need to get some used to for me, and Miko... yeah, she's the troublesome little sister that gets into trouble all the time. Who would've thought a group of alien robots and humans could make a big happy family that's fighting a war."
I felt Arcee shrug. "Just the way it is. Us Autobots are all family and even our humans are family to us, bet Ratchet accepts that even if he denies it."
We remained silent as I approached the gas station, the sensor device beeping quickly which meant I was getting close to it and turned the corner to see... Breakdown webbed up to the building. Airachnid then appeared and faced me.
"I assume Arcee isn't far behind?" She asked.
"You could say that." I said as I tensed and narrowed my optics at her.
"Blaster hands in the air and turn around." Airachnid ordered. I smirked and raised my hands before whirling around and Arcee fired on Airachnid. I couldn't see what was happening, but I did hear the gauntlet go off which was a bad thing. I grunted as I tried fighting against the pull of the magnetic field but fell onto my front and started sliding back. Then we were released and the gauntlet died down as I went flying back but landed on my feet.
I stood and faced Breakdown, who had gotten free from Airachnid's webbing, while Arcee most likely faced Airachnid behind me.
"Still up for a truce, muscles?" Airachnid asked Breakdown.
"Only because I hate Autobots more than I hate you." Breakdown retorted before yelling as he tried clobbering me with his hammer, but I ducked and clobbered him in the face then ducked another attacked and clobbered him again before kicking him back.
"Bladewolf! Stop moving!" Arcee yelled at me, clearly trying to fight Airachnid.
"Sorry!" I apologized before punching Breakdown hard enough to send him flying back. I then faced Airachnid. "Mind if I cut in on this one?"
"Oh sure, spoil my fun." Arcee huffed in amusement.
"I don't mind!" Airachnid smirked a me and her battled. "I hope you still remember my kiss."
"Nope." I said and head-butted her before backhanding her.
"Bladewolf! Duck!" Arcee yelled. I turned around in time to see an oil pump be tossed at me thanks to the gauntlet. I was knocked onto my back and groaned as Arcee struggled to move. I shook my helm several times and heard Breakdown remark.
"I'll take topside."
Breakdown raised his hammer to bring it down when I grabbed it and then punched him in the face and stood, and Arcee was free!
"I'm free!" Arcee said before we went to fighting our opponents, me fighting Breakdown, Arcee fighting Airachnid. I ducked an attack from Breakdown, deployed the fusion cannon on my right arm and blasted Breakdown once, sending him flying and crashing through a rusty oil pump. I heard transforming followed by helicopter blades and looked to see Airachnid had transformed and was beginning to leave.
"The gauntlet!" Arcee yelled.
I transformed my face into the Lockdown face canon that I used before and locked onto Airachnid before I fired and hit her, sending her crashing right into Breakdown in the process. Transforming my head back to normal, I picked up the gauntlet.
"Want to dish out some payback for us being stuck together?" I offered with a grin that Arcee returned as we looked at Breakdown and Airachnid.
Once were done, we returned to base...
Yeah, not much happening here... outside of fighting. But hey, George and Arcee practically made a date out of their mission together, they eevn got stuck together.
