Cat: Does battle in the Sea of Rust count as a battle on Cybertron?
Guest02957: Thanks.
Guest: I'm busy with other projects, but I'll do what I can.
Disclaimer: I do not own Transformers Prime. I only own the OC George Edwards/Bladewolf.
I was back on the hunt for the Spacebridge, searching places around the globe that could be the location of the Spacebridge. Miko had mentioned that if it's a Spacebridge, it should be in space, though I told her that just because it has "Space" in the name doesn't mean it's actually in space. Plus, we'd been monitoring Earth's space, so we'd know if another Spacebridge had been built there.
As I investigated an abandoned mine that showed no sign of Cybertronian technology, I was suddenly contacted by Ratchet. "Bladewolf! We've located the Spacebridge!" He said with a slight sound of relief in his voice.
"Glad to hear, Ratchet. Open the Groundbridge." I said and the portal soon opened, and I walked through to see the team in the central room of the silo.
"George, look here." Ratchet called over. "The Decepticon space bridge is located right here." He said pointing to a flashing Decepticon insignia. "Deep within an Energon mine."
"Adjacent to a raw fuel supply. Clever." I said.
"What's our intel?" Arcee asked as she came to stand beside me.
Ratchet, Bulkhead and Trailbreaker shared a nervous look. "A... reliable source." Ratchet said hesitantly but didn't elaborate.
"We have the location of the Spacebridge. Now we just have to deal with the Decepticons stationed there." I said as I looked at my team. "Once we've done that, we'll be able to bring Jack through and head to Cybertron."
"Do we even know if people can even breathe in your atmosphere?" June asked immediately.
Fowler stepped in to answer. "I'll hook Jack up. Completely state of the art. I still have connections with NASA."
June's face fell. "It's too dangerous." She said to Jack.
"Mom, I know this is hard, but Optimus risked his life to save our planet and he's not even human. We owe it to him." Jack told her.
"June." I said, getting her attention. "Know that I will protect him with my very life to get him there and back."
"Like Primus you'll be going alone." Arcee said as she stepped up and smiled at me and Jack. "Partners stick together."
"Just like in the forest with Airachnid." I teased, getting a playful glare from my Sparkmate.
"Not everyone is destined for an ordinary life, Optimus Prime was once Orion Pax after all." Ratchet added.
June dropped her head slightly taking this in, she then turned to Jack. "When you were little, you always wanted to be an astronaut." She said to him giving him confirmation.
"Autobots, this is our plan." I said and the Autobots straightened up, listening closely. "We'll Groundbridge directly into the Energon mine and make our way to the Spacebridge chamber with extreme caution. The area will be heavily guarded by Decepticon forces, which we must take out before we send for Jack. Stealth is our biggest priority. We don't want Megatron learning of our mission and coming for us before we even get Jack to Cybertron. If he does..."
"The odds become 400 to 1." Bulkhead finished for me.
"The Decepticons have scrambled our communications in the past and so we'll do the same to them. It'll provide you with an edge at least." I said. "But I doubt it'll keep Soundwave unaware for long."
"Taking the bridge is the easy part, you all need to hold it long enough for Jack, Bladewolf and me, to get to Cybertron and back." Arcee said.
"Rafael climbed to the top of the rope in gym class, we can do this." Ratchet said.
"What does gym class have to do with anything?" Miko asked. "And if Ratchet gets to go on a commander raid, I'm going too." Miko announced.
"Miko, you will help Raphael operate our Groundbridge and manage the communications setup." Ratchet told her.
Obviously Miko didn't like this idea as she huffed loudly, crossed her arms and rambled frustrated, "Can't go to Cybertron, can't storm the Decepticon Spacebridge!"
"And Nurse Darby will stand by in case of emergency." Ratchet said.
"Son." Fowler said, getting Jack's attention. "it's time to suit up."
We came out of a Groundbridge into the mine where the Spacebridge was located, all our weapons deployed as we looked around but saw no Decepticons around us. "Clear." I announced.
"Clear." Elita called along with the others.
We then ran down a pathway and saw a couple of Decepticon miners with a mining drill that wasn't turned on. I looked at Arcee and Chromia and gave them the go ahead signal. The 2 girls nodded before they jumped down and double heel kicked one of the miners in the helm, killing him instantly with the force of their kicks.
"Command, this is Space-!" The other miner tried calling for backup but I jumped down and stabbed my swords right through him before ripping them out the chassis. We then ran for the lift and went downwards, stopping at the bottom where a Vehicon had his back to us.
"Going down." Jazz smirked before he clobbered the Vehicon and we ran onwards, eventually arriving at the Spacebridge itself. It was guarded by a few Decepticon troops though as predicted.
"Thank you, Starscream." I smirked, getting a shocked look from Bulkhead. "Who else would give up information like this to save their own Spark?"
We then attacked, Bulkhead and Ironhide managing to toss one of the drills into a couple of Decepticons, which alerted the rest, but we were quick to shoot them down and finish them off. The Spacebridge was now ours for now.
"A masterpiece of engineering." Ratchet said with awe as he stood at the controls.
"Operational?" Firestar asked.
Ratchet tapped a button and nodded. "Fully."
"Perimeter secured!" Ironhide called from where he, Chromia and Bulkhead were.
"Now the next part." I said as Bumblebee, Jazz and Cliffjumper walked up to us. "Ratchet, shut down the scrambler so we can contact base and maintain communication."
Ratchet nodded and did just that before contacting the base. "Strike team to base. Objective secured."
The Groundbridge soon opened and Jack walked through in a spacesuit and had the helmet on. Arcee and I walked up to him. "You ready for this?" I asked him.
Jack pulled the keycard out and looked at it before nodding. "Let's do this."
"I'll leave the Spacebridge open in order to eliminate any communication lag over the great distance, and make it easier for you to locate when you're ready to return." Ratchet said.
"Easier to locate? You're not bridging us straight to the big V?" Jack asked with a confused frown.
"Vector Sigma's true location is shrouded in myth and rumor, Jack. It is said the path of the Primes leads there. We must be confident that Optimus will guide you." Ratchet said before he got to work on opening the bridge to Cybertron.
"Don't worry, Spacebridging is just like Groundbridging." Arcee told Jack and I, since I'd never been through a Spacebridge portal. The portal opened and it was louder than the Groundbridge at the base.
"Bit loud!" I called over the sound of it.
"Just a little more intense!" Arcee called back before the 3 of us walked through.
When we reached the other end of the portal, my optics then caught the sight of destroyed buildings and busted roads. I was now standing on the home of the Transformers.
Cybertron.
"I-I can't believe it!" Jack gasped. "I'm actually on another planet. Arcee, this is-"
"Jack." I said stopping him and he realized what I was getting at and looked at the femme with us. "I get you're excited but… I don't think this is the best way to see Cybertron."
"He's right." Arcee spoke up. "In the fog of war, it's hard to see the next leg of the mission. Beyond the next punch in a fight. We did everything to save Cybertron. But when the fog finally lifted, there wasn't much left to save."
I held her servo, making her look at me with a small smile.
I then contacted the others. "Everyone, we're on Cybertron."
"Just keep the sightseeing to a minimum, huh?" Bulkhead joked.
"Indeed, we don't know if your journey ahead is 5 klicks, or 5000." Ratchet stated.
"Loud and clear, Bladewolf out." I replied switched the radio off before looking at Jack. "Whip out the Key and we'll get started."
He pulled it out of his pocket and pointed it out and moved in a circle. When he pointed it to a specific road it shone like bright blue indicating that was the way we need to go.
"There we go." Arcee said before she transformed so Jack can get on. I transformed into my Lamborghini Aventador SVJmform and we drove off.
After a roughly 10 minute drive through the old speedways, we soon saw us approaching a very big city that the keycard was glowing in the direction of.
"Kaon?" Arcee asked in disbelief.
"The Decepticon Capital." I added. "From what I know, Kaon didn't always belong to the Decepticons. Megatron took it as a main base of operations since the Autobots had Iacon, though I think it was mostly because Megatron used to be a gladiator in the pits of Kaon."
"Perhaps." Arcee hummed.
"Let's stop." I said and we did so, Jack getting off so Arcee could transform as I did. "Our engine noises may attract the wrong kind of attention."
"Decepticons?" Jack asked.
"Vermin." Arcee replied darkly.
"Last thing we need is to be attacked by Scraplets." I told Jack. "Or worse than that."
We all walked across the bridge with me taking point with my Path Blaster ready. I made sure to check what was in front of us so that nothing can get the jump on the group. I was close to making my way to one of the oldest sites of Cybertron, but I knew that it wasn't gonna be a breeze. Everyone had the feeling that we weren't alone on Cybertron, but I didn't blame them; its natural and to be completely honest they were right, but we weren't just being watched. Oh no.
We were being hunted...
