Natalie let out a long exhale as they stood near the exit of the door upon landing.
The other hunters were there too and eager to leave. They all have spent a good three and a half months away from Yautja Prime, hunting on other worlds.
The door to the drop ship finally slid open and the eight of them filed out in two lines.
With Yeyinde and Natalie taking up the back of the two lines. The young hunter had his hand on her shoulder as they walked out. And she stayed pretty close to his side.
Setg-in waited with his eldest pup and daughter, Sakana near the entrance to the drop ship and they watched as the warriors started to filter out in twos.
The first ones out were Kaail and his brother Larja-Thwei. Followed by Guan and Kv'varde then Dachande and Bakuub. Each of them bowed their heads in respect and greeting towards Elder Setg-in as they walked by.
Then he noted his youngest son Yeyinde was the last one off. And with him was a very petite ooman female walking by his side. He had his hand on her shoulder and kept her close as if to protect her from unseen danger that could be close by.
Yeyinde spotted his father and older sister and headed over.
Though he was a bit surprised to see Dachande's sister Luar-ke there with them. The small group of warriors briefly stopped to talk to the Elder and his sister as he continued over.
"Dachande why has your sister come?" He called over to the other warrior as they headed over.
The light green yautja lightly rubbed his head awkwardly.
"I contacted her on the way back home and kind of told her about Natalie. And now she wants to meet her. Plus, I believe she's also looking to mate with Kaail." Dachande replied.
"What's up?" Natalie asked, noting the conversation between Yeyinde and Dachande.
"Nothing. Was just wondering why Dachande's sister came to greet all of us. Normally, she wouldn't do that. He said she wanted to meet you. And apparently is looking to get lucky with Kaail." He lightly teased.
Natalie got a small chuckle out of that.
"Well, if that is the case, I wish them the best of luck." She said.
"Kaail will need it. Because if he upset's her, I'll break his head." Dachande said. Ever the overprotective older brother.
He knew the larger female could take care of herself and didn't really need his protection. It was just a protective sibling thing with him. And it wasn't her physically getting hurt he was talking about. More like emotionally getting hurt.
Luar-ke did kind of have a crush on Kaail for some time now. But Dachande was unsure if the brownish colored yautja even noticed or not.
The unusual pair came to a stop in front of his father and sister. Natalie couldn't help but gape at the incredibly tall female that toward a foot over her father and brother.
There was also an equally imposing female not standing too far from her. That must've been Dachande's sister.
Setg-in smiled and reached out to shake his youngest son's shoulder in greeting.
"It's great to see you, son. I truly am glad you're ok and your back home." His father said.
Yeyinde reached out and shook the older yautja's shoulder.
"Thank you, father. It's great to see you too." He replied.
Then he turned to his older sister. And without warning, the taller female pulled her little brother in for a bone crushing hug. He was a bit surprised by the move. But then Sakana was always the affectionate one on the family.
He returned her hug. Natalie thought it cute but amusing. Because since his sister stood about a foot taller than him, Yeyinde's face was practically smooshed into her chest as she hugged him.
Afterwards they pulled back from the hug. Then the young hunter saw his sister's smile gradually disappear and turn into a frown. Right before she roughly chuffed him on the back of the head, making him bark in surprise.
"Idiot! Don't scare us like that again! Otherwise, you won't get a small knock to the head! I'll put you in the med room instead next time!" Sakana lightly snapped.
The shorter male rubbed his head and gave her an apologetic look.
"I'm sorry, mei-jadhi. But it's not like I planned for it to happen. Though next time I hunt on Earth, I'll definitely be better prepared so that doesn't happen again." He assured her.
Natalie wasn't sure what they were saying. But was a little surprised when his sister did a quick one-eighty and slapped Yeyinde upside the head with an annoyed growl. This was followed by a string of what sounded like some angry words directed towards him as he stood there stunned, rubbing his head.
"Ig'norre thhem. Thisss is typi'cal sib'ling be'hav'ior." Setg-in said, gaining the human woman's attention.
She turned to the older male and was surprised to hear him speak to her. His English was quite broken and rough. But she understood it well enough.
Bakuub was there. But he was off to the side talking with Dachande, Kaail, and Luar-ke. While some of the others already took their leave and left.
Kv'var-de and Guan had patted her shoulder and said goodbye right before they walked off. And Larja-Thwei just left the group behind a little earlier.
"Hi, it's nice to finally meet you. I'm Natalie." She said, swallowing down her nerves.
Setg-in gave her a small nod.
"N'iiccce too meeet yyou. I taake it Yeyinde t'old yyou wwhat to exxpect wh'ile here?" Setg-in inquired.
Natalie nodded, "Yes, he told me as much as he could within the few days we had onboard before landing. Your world sounds very fascinating. Same with your kind."
"Yesss, aand verrry difffer'ent tthen Eaarrrtth. I hooope yyour addjuustmeent wwon't be tooo difffi'cuult." He said.
It was then Yeyinde returned to her side, getting her attention.
"Natalie, this is Sakana, my older sister." The young hunter said, motioning to the tall female.
Sakana found it amusing that the young woman had to crane her neck all the way up to look at her.
"Hi, nice to meet you." Natalie said.
"Same with you. My brother seems to speak very highly of you. Certainly, the first time I heard him talk a lot about any individual female." Her translator said.
Setg-in arched an eye ridge at that statement as he looked between his two children.
Natalie smiled at that. She seemed friendly enough.
"Yeah, Yeyinde told me a little about you and his other siblings too. It's nice to finally put a couple faces to names. I look forward to meeting everyone else too." The young woman replied.
"And you will. Minikui and Ci'tde are engaged elsewhere at the moment. But you will meet them eventually. At least you already know Kv'var-de, Guan, Kaail, and Dachande. They were always close friends with my brothers.
Larja-Thwei is a different story though. He's always been a bit of a jackass. I hope he hasn't given you too much of a hard time while onboard the ship." Sakana stated.
Natalie just shrugs, "Only a little. But he knows better now than to be rude to me. Since one of the times, he did cross a line, I threw food at him."
Sakana was silent for a moment. Then the large yautja female began to laugh.
"No way! You threw food at him!? Now I wish I was there to witness that! It must've looked hilarious!" She said, through peals of laughter.
"She nailed him right in the face with a naxa fruit. Whole thing splattered on impact. The look on his face was priceless." Yeyinde added.
"Yes, then it turned into one large ass food fight in the mess hall. Which I made her, Larja, and Yeyinde clean up afterwards." Bakuub interrupted as he came over.
Sakana stopped laughing briefly and grasped her other brother's shoulder in greeting. He did the same to her.
"I'm sure it was totally worth it though. And funny." She replied.
That's when the other large female approached and made herself known.
"Sakana, quit hogging the ooman female to yourself. Let the rest of us introduce ourselves to her." Luar-ke stated.
Sakana smiled at her friend then nodded.
Luar-ke then turned to Natalie and switched on her translator.
"Hello, I'm Luar-ke. Dachande's sister and a friend to both Yeyinde and Sakana. It's nice to meet you." She said, politely.
Luar-ke was around the same height as Sakana. But were easy to tell apart. Sakana had a similar greenish skin tone to her father and brothers, only a little lighter in color.
While Luar-ke's skin tone was more of a yellowish complexion with hints of orange in it. Her and her brother Dachande looked a little alike but not completely.
Natalie even noted that Yeyinde looked like a spitting image of his father. Setg-in just looked like an older version of his youngest son with beginnings of grey starting to show in his once jet-black dread lock-like hair.
Bakuub was more like a greenish yellow color and a little bulkier than his younger brother.
"Nice meeting you. It's certainly nice having a small welcoming group here upon landing." Natalie said.
Luar-ke bowed her head slightly at her.
"Well, when my brother contacted me the other day and told me about you, I just had to come see for myself if it was true. Because it wouldn't have been the first time Dachande had pulled my leg about something.
But it's quite obvious now that he wasn't joking or kidding. And it's nice meeting you." She said.
"Don't play coy either, mei-jadhi. We both know you came too because you wanted to be the first female here to gain Kaail's attention." Dachande teased with a smirk.
Luar-ke gave her brother a dirty look. But then she blushed when she realized Kaail was standing not too far and heard what Dachande said. The brownish yautja shot her a smile and purred.
Which only made her blush even more.
The translator was still running. So, it picked up each word of their conversation. And Natalie was finding it a little difficult not to laugh. At both Dachande's words and the smug yet confident smirk Kaail was sending Luar-ke.
Setg-in just huffed and shook his head at the youths' antics. Though it has been over a century, he still recalls what it's like to be young, and eager to impress females. Especially during mating season.
Though the only one he ever aimed to impress was his late mate, Hashori.
She was the only female he ever had eyes for. And they have always been close since they were pups. Something that wasn't very common among his kind for ones so young.
He remembers like yesterday; how happy he was when she agreed to be his life mate.
Then the pair had five beautiful pups together. And led a happy life. Until one fateful hunt took her from him and their children three decades prior.
Setg-in recalls becoming overcome with grief. And locking himself in his study for several days afterwards. Not answering the door to the study when one of his children came knocking or calling.
He just wanted to be alone at the time to grieve.
To this day, Setg-in still misses her. And had refused to take another mate. For no female here could ever replace his beloved Hashori.
The older yautja doesn't know why, but his gaze went to Yeyinde and the small ooman female. He observed how they seem to stay close to each other's side. And he noted that Yeyinde placed his hand on her shoulder and unconsciously caressed it.
He also saw the looks his youngest would give her when Yeyinde's gaze would go back and forth from his sister and friends to the ooman female.
This concerned Setg-in. He fears, his youngest son may be more attached to her than he originally thought. And he's unsure how to handle it. Not only would such a pairing be viewed as peculiar if it gets to that point.
But Setg-in worries it could lead to heartbreak if she dies prematurely. Because odds are, other females may challenge her for the right to mate with Yeyinde. And they would most definitely kill her during said challenge.
Which may deeply sadden and upset Yeyinde if that were to happen.
Grief and sadness were like a double edge sword that was painful when lodged deep into your heart. He felt it when his own mate died, and he had to carry her battered and bloodied body back to the ship after their small party was ambushed by a large pack of rjet.
Setg-in could see another big conversation in their future. And he doubts Yeyinde will like it.
But for now, the older yautja stood back and let them all get reacquainted. At the moment, it looked like the ooman female was becoming more relaxed around everyone here.
But he knew, it won't always be this way for her.
Many other yautja here will not treat her as kindly. And while most won't try to physically hurt her, they can still treat her like trash if they so wanted to.
Because to most here, oomans were nothing more than prey. And not worthy to be seen as equals in their eyes.
Setg-in knew some of the Elders share this same view and most likely won't be thrilled that she's here. He was able to contact at least one other Elder last night about the unexpected news. And he didn't seem all that happy about it.
But for now, it be best if everyone gets settled in first.
The older yautja hopes Yeyinde will put this infatuation with the ooman female behind him once he starts participating in their mating season.
What the young hunter needed was a good first rough and tumble with a female yautja.
And there were plenty of available females here to fill that role for him. If he has too, his father will even introduce him to some of the other Elders daughters.
Setg-in also knew there were at least a couple females around Yeyinde's age that did fancy him and talked of mating him when mating season came.
One of which, was in fact one of Elder M'icli-de's younger daughters, Inu.
She knew Yeyinde was looking to mate for the first time this mating season once he returned successful from his hunt on Earth. And despite being captured, his son still had the five ooman skulls in his possession that he took before his capture.
Technically, this means he was still successful during his hunt for oomans.
The hunt and his newly acquired trophies would surely have boosted his newly blooded status even more. Which would draw even more attention from other eligible females.
Yes, all Yeyinde needed was a good pauk from just one of their females. And his attachment to the ooman will dwindle down and dissipate.
Or so he believes.
Until Next Time ;)
