After eating her half of the cookie with Mytyl, Naomi decided to upgrade Dolor while she was upgrading Lola since she was thinking about it.
Maybe if I try an clear out that Sumeragi warehouse, I can get some a those turrets. Oh yeah, that reminds me! I can rig those bombs ta deter intruders by a less explosive means. By reconfiguring the wires, I can just make it sound like the bomb detonated. All a the boom with none a the death. Naomi thought as she cleaned Dolor's barrel.
Naomi used a pair of medical gloves to make sure she didn't get any of the oil on her hands.
"Ya know boss, I've been thinking. Why don't you and Mytyl talk more? With Copen I mean." Lola pondered.
"I've got an actual job ta do so I don't chat with him much. An he doesn't talk with me or Mytyl much cause he's tryna go on an Adept killin spree. Though how he plans ta kill all Adepts even though you, me an Mytyl all have Septimas is beyond me." Naomi rambled.
"Is there anything that'll make you talk to each other again?" Lola wondered.
"Everythin's cool. We talk rarely, but that's more than enough for me."
"How come you don't like talking to him?"
"We don't see eye ta eye on much."
"It feels like there's something more that you're not telling me."
"Well, I'm an Adept, he's a human who wants to kill Adepts, fill in the blanks."
"Why exactly does he want to kill Adepts anyways?"
Naomi then remembered she didn't tell Lola what happened regarding the events that transpired when Takefutsu at the time (AKA Asimov) escaped from S-FIT while her father and his assistant were in the midst of testing his Azure Striker Septima.
"Are you sure ya wanna know? Ya prolly won't like what ya hear."
Lola bobbed up and down, a sign of her confirmation. Naomi sighed, concerned the first thing she would do afterwards is tell Copen. Who, in a blind rage, would most likely storm her place of work and attempt to assassinate her employer. Naomi shivered at the thought of losing her job as QUILL was one of the only places she knew that employed Adepts.
The other was the Sumeragi, and she knew from prior experience that working with them is a subject better left alone.
"You swear to me on your existence that you won't go blabbing to Copen about this as soon as I'm done telling you?"
"Huh? Shouldn't he know if it's the reason he tries to kill Adepts?"
"He knows what happened, but he doesn't know who's responsible for what happened. If he did, I'm sure it'd start some pretty messed up stuff."
"What happened?"
"Ya know how I created you right?"
"Yeah."
"Well, as crazy as it may sound, our dad died in a work related accident a few months before that. He was working on someone named Takefutsu at the time, who's actually my boss Asimov. Anyways, he was testing out Takefutsu's implanted fraction of the Azure Striker Septima with the old S-FIT buildings generator. The power was too much and the building exploded.
I got out but he didn't, the only reason dad is around is because he got revived."
There was an awkward silence in the room.
"So, it was your boss who did it right?" Copen interrogated.
Lola and Naomi jumped, startled at the fact they didn't even notice him standing in the doorway.
"We didn't leave the door open! How the heck did ya get in here!?" Naomi ranted.
"I used the door, like any normal person."
Naomi got up and aimed an accusing finger at Copen.
"Both of you are not allowed, under any circumstances, to let what you heard leave this room. Am I understood?"
"You have my word." Copen confirmed.
"You got it boss!" Lola agreed.
Naomi knew she didn't, but she had to trust them since there wasn't anything she could do to prevent them from telling someone.
Meanwhile, the Lyoko group was finished with their camping trip and were excited to sleep in their beds instead of sleeping bags.
"Man, my back's killing me." Odd groaned.
"Well next time move your Game Boy before you fall asleep." Ulrich remarked.
"If it wasn't for Einstein babbling on about the supercomputer with Aelita, I wouldn't have been bored to sleep."
"It was important Odd! As a matter of fact, we actually found something we could do to help Naomi." Aelita stated.
"Really? What is it?" Yumi wondered.
"You know how she told us the Sumeragi used her and Lumen's Muse Septima to track other Adepts since the Muse amplifies the power of other Septima's?"
"Yeah."
"Well we made our own Adept tracker."
"We call it the Septimal Scanner." Jeremy added.
"I'm sure she'll be really happy about that. Maybe they could use it to find other Adepts to work for QUILL." Yumi commented.
"She told me she was hoping Jeremy and I could work with Moniqa for coding. Her work is similar to what Jeremy and I do for Lyoko." Aelita informed.
"You two should take it. It would get you both out of school right?"
"It would, and we wouldn't even have to go to Japan to do it. Naomi said she would teleport us if we wanted to work in the same building as her but there's one here in Paris we could work at. Apparently there's a QUILL building in every country."
"Do they have any non Adepts that work on the field?"
"It's too risky, all of the fights are against Adepts."
"How much is the pay?"
"I'm not sure how much exactly."
"You two aren't thinking of joining right now are you?" Jeremy wondered.
"It's a nice idea, being able to help others." Aelita admitted.
"You do realize you both could be captured by the Sumeragi at any given moment and experimented on right?"
"It's a risk worth taking, I'd rather it be me than someone else."
"But what if-"
"Can you two please stop arguing? This bus ride is already bad enough! I ran out of snacks!" Odd complained.
"You ran out of them the first five minutes, we're only ten minutes into the bus ride, it'll take two hours to get back." Yumi notified.
"I'll never make it." Odd moaned.
"You can have mine." Aelita offered as she handed Odd a box of strawberry yogurt covered raisins.
Just then, the bus shook and began to drive faster.
"What's going on?" Ulrich queried.
"I don't know, but whatever it is can't be good." Yumi answered.
Just then, Jeremy's phone started ringing.
"Hello?"
"It's me Jeremy, we've got a problem." Xana replied.
"Yeah, our bus is out of control."
"I'm sorry I'm a terrible driver, I've never gotten behind the wheel before."
"You're the one driving!?"
A few kids looked at Jeremy curiously. A nervous laugh and a few hushes from the others removed the stares.
"There's something going on at the factory, from the looks of it the machinery is in the works of Glaive production. I've seen a few Sumeragi soldiers guarding the conveyor belts."
