Episode 7: Prologue Part 7- Pups Get A Rubble! Welcome, Paw Patrol… YELLOW!

Two weeks after Zuma joined…

Ben, Marshall, Ryder, and Chase were playing a game of ball in the yard, tossing around a ball. Ryder kicked the soccer ball to Chase, who then hit it into the air with his rear end. "I got it, I got it, I got it! Ruff ruff!" Marshall yelled out, running underneath where he thought the ball would land.

Unfortunately for Marshall, the ball landed just right next to him, before bouncing off. "I missed it… aww. I'll get it!" Marshall disappointedly said, before perking up and chasing after the soccer ball. Ben laughed and followed Marshall. Playing with these pups could be tiring, but lots of fun.

The ball bounced off of a bush, which both Marshall and Ben tripped over. Ben landed flat on his face though, and groaned as he pushed himself off of the grass, spitting out a blade or two of the greenery. "Oh no, the ball!" Marshall exclaimed as the ball went over the fence and landed on the ledge which was next to the ocean dropoff.

Ben and Marshall ran up to the fence to see a puppy chasing after the soccer ball, only to get stranded on a branch. "Are you okay?!" Marshall called out to the bulldog pup that was down there.

"I'm fine…" The pup nervously replied.

"You don't really work fine! I'll call for help!" Marshall yelled, before doing his rendition of a fire engine siren and howling.

"RYDER, COME QUICK!" Ben shouted.

Chase and his owner were already coming on over to see what was going on. "A pup is stuck in that tree!" Marshall urgently said.

"Uh oh… that's no place to be hanging around! Don't worry, we'll get you down from there!" Ryder promised the bulldog.

"I'm not worried! But the water does look kind of cold. I like my baths warm, with bubbles!" The pup quickly answered.

Oh, bless this pup's heart. He didn't comprehend the gravity of the situation he was in. With the small size of his body taken into account, a fall into the ocean from that high up would probably turn this pup into mush. Ryder and Ben attempted to sidle across the cliff face to the tree, but the cliff seemed to be a bit crumbly for their weight. "This path is too narrow and steep. Chase, your net! Give the little guy something to climb up!" Ryder called out.

"Chase is on the case!" The German shepherd diligently answered, running a little bit away before barking. "RUFF! Net!" Chase shouted, his launcher firing a net that landed on the tree and connected with the branch, giving the pup a safe way to get to solid ground.

"Cool backpack! And cool net!" The bulldog squeaked, impressed.

"All right there, kiddo, climb on up here. Just be careful!" Ben told the young canine.

"I told you, I'm fine!" The pup said, before wobbling his way up to them. "THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!" He yelled, assaulting Ryder with grateful tongue licks.

"You're welcome. Hey, that tickles!" Ryder laughed.

The pup ran around and barked in delight for a half minute or so and then sat down. "Thanks for saving me!" The pup exclaimed again.

"It's what we do." Ryder replied earnestly.

"Were you scared out there?" Marshall asked. "Yeah. I was so... uh, so... not scared. I'm a tough pup!" The stray hesitantly said, before growling and then laughing. The laughter was infectious, and everyone began to laugh.

"I'm Ben. This is my friend Ryder, and our puppy pals are Chase and Marshall. What's your name, little guy?" Ben wondered.

"My name's Rubble!" Rubble responded, and then his stomach growled.

"Sounds like you're a bit hungry, Rubble." Ryder chuckled.

"Now that you mention it…" Rubble sheepishly said.

They brought Rubble back to the front of the Lookout tower and gave him some food. Rocky was there, watching with interest. "Looks like you haven't eaten all day, Rubble!" Rocky mused.

"More like days!" Rubble replied.

"You haven't eaten in days!?" Ben and Marshall exclaimed together in unison, before looking back at each other and smiling.

"That's what it's like when you have to take care of yourself." Rubble answered.

"You live on your OWN!?" All the pups and humans gasped.

"Sure, I'm a tough pup!" Rubble bragged, letting out a growl that morphed into a laugh.

Everyone giggled at that, before it was interrupted by Ryder getting a call on his pup pad. "Hello, Ryder here!" The fourteen year old answered as he took the call.

"Ryder, dude, it's Jake." The mountain climber said.

"Hey Jake. What's your location?" Ben inquired, leaning in so he could see Jake's face and also have Jake see him.

"Uh, I'm in a bit of a jam, bud. I got myself trapped in a bunch of rolling snow boulders." Jake mumbled.

"Snow boulders?! Are you okay?" Ryder questioned, getting worried at this bit of information.

At this, Jake nodded. "I'm fine, but I can't seem to dig through the snow chunks. They're too big and heavy. Think your PAW Patrol could help a buddy out?" Jake requested.

"No job is too big, no pup is too small!" Ryder declared, raising his hand into the air. That was their motto.

"Aw, thanks, Ryder and Ben!" Jake chuckled before hanging up.

Ben started to head to the Lookout tower. "PAW PATROL, TO THE LOOKOUT!" The 15 year old cried out, radioing this message through the pup tags.

The pups were currently watching Rubble play with the treats they had given the stray pup. Hearing this message, they all shouted "RYDER NEEDS US!" before running to the Lookout. "We've got to go!" Marshall apologized to Rubble.

"Where are you going?!" Rubble wondered.

"We're the PAW Patrol. When Ryder calls, it means someone's in trouble and we have to help." Marshall explained before running off. Rubble followed right behind. "HEY! What's a PAW Patrol?" Rubble shouted.

"Each pup has their own special job that they're extra good at." Marshall answered, before sliding into the elevator. "LOOK OUT!" Marshall yipped, and the pups parted to the sides of the elevator as Marshall and Rubble tumbled into the air and hit the glass wall. "I'm good at fighting fires… I'm not so good at riding elevators…" Marshall sheepishly admitted. The glass doors slid closed and the pups got ready. When they got to the halfway point, several mechanical arms extended from the wall and outfitted each pup with their PAW Patrol gear.

As the elevator reached the top and slid open, it seemed as if Rubble had gotten in the elevator and joined the rest of the group in the Lookout. "Wow, cool room!" Rubble marveled.

Ryder brought up an animatic of the situation. "Jake got trapped by some snow boulders on the Mountain. We have to dig him out." Ryder revealed.

"I love to dig!" Rubble cheered.

"Skye, we need you to fly your helicopter up the mountain and figure out Jake's location." Ben announced.

"Let's take to the sky!" Skye cried out, doing a backflip.

"Chase, I'll need you and your winch at the top of the hill. We might have to pull him up." Ryder told his number one.

"Chase is on the case!" The police canine exclaimed.

"All right! PAW Patrol is on a roll!" Ryder excitedly said, sliding down the fire pole to the garage while the pups used the slide to get to their vehicles. Skye went first, and then about a half minute later, Chase jumped on the slide. Then Rubble jumped… oh no, Rubble was going with them.

As Chase, Ryder, and Skye drove down the road, Rubble squealed in delight. "Uh, Ryder? I got a passenger!" Chase nervously said, a bit surprised.

"Let me guess who it is." Ryder chuckled, looking back to see Rubble. Chase pressed a button on the police pupmobile, causing Rubble to have a seat belt secure him.

When they got to the mountain, all of them dismounted. "Did you like your ride, Rubble?" Ryder inquired, smiling at the bulldog.

"Oh yeah! What a great truck! Thanks for the ride!" Rubble gratefully said.

"You're welcome!" Chase replied.

"Skye's scouting the safest way down. We'll use her harness and your winch. That way, you can pull me out if I get stuck." Ryder explained to Chase.

Rubble saw someone snowboarding and a snowboard just his size. "If I can get down there, I can help Ryder!" Rubble realized, and got on the snowboard before sliding down the slope.

When Ryder was all hooked up and secure, he scaled down the snowy mountain and got to Jake. "Hey Jake. How's it going?" Ryder asked the snowed-in snowboarder.

"Cool. A little too cool." Jake sighed, shivering a little.

"Don't worry. We'll get you out." Ryder reassured, before attempting to dislodge the snow boulders with his shovel. Unfortunately, they had solidified completely. "These… snow boulders… are frozen solid!" Ryder grunted, trying to muster all his might into removing them with the shovel.

Ryder then contacted Chase to see if he could lend a helping paw. "Hey Chase. I could use a paw or two to help me move these boulders." Ryder said.

"On my way, Ryder! Hey Rubble! …Rubble? Where'd you go?" Chase said, looking around for the bulldog pup.

Skye saw something coming towards Ryder and used her goggles to get a zoomed in view. It was their new pal!

"Ryder! You're about to have some company!" Skye called out.

Ryder looked down and saw that Rubble had flopped off his snowboard onto the ground. "Ryder, this snowboarding is awesome! Did you say you could use a paw? I've got four!" Rubble enthusiastically said.

"Well… I need to clear some of this snow away to get Jake out." Ryder told the young dog.

"Hang on a second!" Rubble responded, heading up to one of the snow boulders and beginning to dig.

"Wait, Rubble, you could get trapped in there!" Ryder worriedly said. He peeked his head into the opening. "Rubble? RUBBLE? Jake, you haven't seen a pup in there, have you?" Ryder asked. Rubble's face popped up in the opening, being held up by Jake.

"You mean this awesome snow digging dude here? Aw, okay, okay, okay! I'm happy to see you too! That tickles!" Jake happily said, Rubble giving him tons of licks. The two of them vanished, and crawled out of the opening that Rubble had dug out.

"He got you out! Great job, Rubble!" Ryder complimented.

"Yeah, thanks bud! You rock!" Jake told Rubble. The bulldog flopped on his belly, and Jake began to give him a belly rub.

"So, is this digging dog the newest member of the PAW Patrol?" Jake asked. Ryder stroked his chin thoughtfully, contemplating this idea.

"Ryder, do you have to even think about it? He didn't even have any training, and he was able to extract Jake from a frozen solid pile of snow boulders! Plus, Chase, Marshall, and everyone already really like him! We'd be crazy to say no!" Ben chimed in, giving his opinion on the matter.

"I was thinking the same thing!" Ryder agreed.

When everyone got back to the lookout, Ryder had everyone assemble in the Lookout top. "Pups, I have a very big announcement. I found Rubble a home, where he'll have food, friends, a nice place to sleep and a really important job!" Ryder revealed.

"That's great news, Rubble! But we're going to miss you." Skye happily said, giving Rubble a heartfelt sisterly nuzzle.

"Yeah, you're a cool little guy." Marshall admitted.

"Oh, save the goodbyes and tears! Rubble's not going to go anywhere. You wanna know why? It's because his home is going to be HERE, with the rest of us! Everyone, meet Rubble, our construction pup!" Ben exclaimed.

Everyone cheered. "...As long as you don't mind having your own pup house and stuff!" Ryder added.

"Sure, I'll help you guys out, 'cause it looks like you need me!" Rubble giggled.

"Rubble, as a PAW Patrol Pup, do you promise to do your best to lend a paw whenever help is needed?" Ryder asked.

"I do!" Rubble barked.

"Okay! Here's your official PAW Patrol Pup tag, and your very own, authentic construction hardhat. You are now a member of the PAW Patrol. Welcome aboard!" Ryder said, giving Rubble his collar and hard hat. Everyone voiced their excitement and happiness.

"Just one more thing, Rubble. There's a surprise at the bottom of the slide waiting for you!" Ben told their newest recruit.

"REALLY!?" Rubble screamed in delight, and went down the slide. The bulldozer that they had been saving for a long time finally was operated by someone that wasn't Ben or Ryder. It had been used on a few emergencies that required it in the past, but never before had it been operated by a pup.

"You got a bit of growing to do before you reach the steering wheel, but that's okay! Welcome to the team, PAW Patrol Yellow!" Ben comforted Rubble.
