Chapter 10
The 48 hours had past, it was 3 minutes over actually Callie thought her brown eyes flicking between the clock, Arizona, Sofia, who was sat on her lap holding mommy's hand and the door, waiting for Amelia to enter. Finally, 4 minutes late the door opened, just as Callie was debating whether to stop the sedation herself. Amelia entered the room,
"Ok, lets wake sleeping beauty" she decided, "Everything is improving so we can wake our sleeping Princess" Sofia's eyes widened,
"Momma you have to wake mommy like in sleeping beauty" she decided, Callie blushed.
"I don't think that will work" she said,
Amelia's eyes sparkled with mischief, as she deliberately ignored Callie's pleading looks, Sofia had had a good idea.
"I don't know Callie I think that it just might, after all nothing beat's true loves kiss" she said grateful Zola's love of Disney movies was now paying off, after all she controlled the sedation. Callie glared at her as Amelia removed the breathing tube, pleased to see Arizona take independent breaths.
"Why don't you try Callie?" Amelia suggested. "After all it worked for sleeping beauty."
"Yeah, momma you got to wake mommy up" Sofia pleaded. Unable to deny her daughter anything Callie bent forwards giving a very chaste kiss on the lips. One like you might give your grandma,
"Well, that's not going to wake our sleeping beauty up is it Sof" Amelia commented, if looks could kill, she'd surely be dead, still she was having far to much to fun to care.
"Its true momma, it has to be loves true kiss" Sofia demanded.
"Why don't we kiss her together Sofia?" Callie suggested. "After all we both love mommy".
Sofia nodded, it was a good idea, after all frozen said it didn't matter who did the kiss, just as long as they loved them with all their heart.
"On 3, 1, 2, 3" they both kissed Arizona, who groaned at the contact. Amelia had been lightening the sedation as they'd been winding Callie up.
"It worked mommy" Sofia cried joyfully.
"That's great bub. Can you go with Abdula and get mommy some juice for when she wakes up" Callie asked, Sofia nodded jumping up,
"Mommy likes orange the best" she said grabbing Carlos's hand.
"Arizona can you hear us?" Amelia asked, as blue eyes blinked open gazing around the room, "do you know where you are?" Amelia questioned.
Arizona blinked as the bright lights assaulted her eyes, someone was talking loudly asking questions. Where was she? She looked around the room, it looked like a hospital, but with nothing distinctive on the walls. With no clues there she looked at the people in the room, a brunette with piercing blue eyes, Amelia, the name popped into her head. Another brunette, with brown eyes one could get lost in. You love her the voice popped into her mind.
"Arizona, can you answer me?" Amelia repeated drawing her attention away from her thoughts.
"Hosssssssspppitaaaaaaaaaaaal" Arizona slurred frowning as the words didn't come out as easily as she wanted to.
"That's right" Amelia praised. "Do you know who I am?" she asked.
"mmmmeelia" Arizona said, she was sure of that,
"What about her? Do you know who she is?" Amelia pointed at the other brunette. Arizona thought hard, she felt love, strong feelings towards her, but couldn't think of her name. She desperately tried to think of the name, but it was like thinking through treacle. The thoughts just weren't there but the woman was looking so hopeful Arizona didn't want to say no, but she just didn't know her name.
"It's okay" Amelia soothed, "This is Callie" she introduced,
"Caaaaallliieeee" she slurred, that was a nice name, it gave her butterflies.
"What's the last thing you remember?" Amelia questioned.
Arizona thought back trying to remember,
"I loovvveeeee Caallieeeee" she said, she knew it was true, both brunettes smiled.
"Before that?" she asked, Arizona frowned, before that everything felt muddled, trying to pinpoint her last memory felt like trying to grab jelly it was there but she just wasn't able to get it.
"Whhaaaa haaaa, haaaaa"
"What happened?" Amelia checked; Arizona nodded. "You hit your head, we had to operate twice."
Arizona frowned trying to remember how she had hit her head was that why she couldn't remember anything? She closed her eyes her pain levels building, soft hands stroked her arm.
"Rest now" it said so she did.
She woke to a heavy weight on her arm, she tried to move it noticing someone's head was stopping it from moving. Callie, she had stayed.
Having a moment Arizona tried to sort her head, she could see images, but they were out of order, a dirty bar, a dance in the living room, a gun, she was operating and there was a gun! She gasped, alerting Callie, who woke up,
"Hey, Arizona you're awake" Callie said moving some hair out of her face, she noticed the tear tracks down her face and wiped them away. "What's going on?"
"unnnnnnnnn" Arizona tried to explain. Why had someone been pointing a gun at Callie? She felt panicked how long ago was that? Was he still here? Had she been shot?
"Un?" Callie repeated trying to piece together what Arizona was saying,
"Unnnnnnnn" Arizona repeated, "unnnnnnnn" she tried again,
"I'm sorry I don't understand" Callie said gently rubbing her shoulder trying to reassure her ex-wife, "Sofia wants to visit, do you remember Sofia?" Callie questioned,
"ssssssssffaaa" Arizona repeated, who was Sofia?
"Sofia is our daughter, she is 7" Callie explained. Arizona frowned, she had a daughter, how had that happened? She didn't want kids; she had never wanted children. Wait, had Callie said our, had she had a daughter with the beautiful brunette in front of her. Sofia, her heart suddenly filled with love, at her name, Sofia, she loved Sofia. Callie was still talking,
"And I'm not sure if you can remember her but please be nice, I've tried to explain, is like inside out with the memories, but I don't know if you remember inside out, it's the Disney film with the memory balls" Callie continued.
Memory balls? What was Callie talking about? Arizona wished she had listened to the middle part of the conversation.
"Mommy" a small girl ran in jumping on the bed and hugging her.
"Ssssfffaaa" Arizona guessed, the girl looked like a mini-Callie,
"She remembers me Momma" Sofia cried, joyfully. "Momma says your memories got losted and we have to help you find them" she said, "Do you remember frozen and Elsa?" she asked, Arizona paused not answering, what was frozen? Peas, or in winter? Who was Elsa? Another daughter a pet?
"Noooooo" Arizona guessed.
"Don't worry mommy I have the DVD" Sofia reassured pulling an IPAD out of her bag, she loaded the film,
Ah she was thinking of animated film that was apparently called Frozen, Arizona felt reassured Elsa wasn't another child she had forgotten. She closed her eyes, intending to rest them for just a moment. When she opened them again the lights were off, and the little girl had gone, leaving only memories and a strange sense of longing, she really wanted to see that little girl again, she loved her so much, and her absence was painful.
I couldn't let Arizona forget everything, but don't want her to remember to quickly.
