Season 2 Episode 17: Pups Save An Outlaw's Loot! Introducing Paw Patrol Bronze!

March 2nd, 2030

Ben and Alex weren't around for once. Yesterday, after Ben's interview on Good Morning Adventure Bay, they had asked Ryder to take some time off in order to attend to some personal matters in Adventure City. Ryder had been a bit hesitant, but Ben assured him that this was temporary and in no way, shape, or form was he or Alex quitting the team. "I have some personal projects I would like to work on." Ben cryptically told Ryder. The eighteen year old wouldn't go any further than that.

For Chase and the rest of the pups, the Lookout yard felt a bit lonelier without the other human and the wolf pup. Chase, Rubble, and Wild were playing horseshoes in the yard right now. The pups all wanted to help support Wild after learning about what he had gone through, and Wild gladly accepted their company. "Your turn, Wild!" Chase exclaimed after Rubble tossed his horseshoe.

Wild gave his opponents a cheeky grin as he picked up the U-shaped piece of plastic and flung it, landing it onto the stake perfectly. "Wow, awesome shot, Wild!" Rubble complimented.

"Heh, thanks guys. I didn't think I'd be such a good shot. Then again, we cats do always land on our paws." Wild chuckled, feeling proud of himself.

"HORSESHOES!? I wanna play!" Marshall cheered, running towards them. Unfortunately, he tripped on a horseshoe and got his leg caught on the stake, causing him to spin around the stake wildly. "Did I win?" Marshall asked.

"You won, buddy! You scored yourself around the horseshoe stake, that's a big feat!" Wild giggled, nuzzling Marshall affectionately. Everyone laughed at this.

Meanwhile, Ryder, Everest, Jake, Tuck, and Ella were helping Mayor Goodway sort through objects in an old cabin that belonged to the famous Wild West outlaw known as Wild Wilbur. "Oh, thank you for helping sort through Wild Wilbur's old cabin, Ryder! I'd come in, but there might be... bugs. And Chickaletta does not like bugs. I actually don't mind them myself, but Chickaletta goes everywhere with me." Mayor Goodway remarked.

"You're welcome, Mayor! Happy to help!" Everest chimed in.

"Yeah, this old hideout is awesome! There must be some great stuff here. Reminds me of the cabin me and Everest live in. This Wild Wilbur guy had quite good taste in lodging." Jake commented.

"Great stuff?!" Ella gasped.

"Like treasure!?" Tuck wondered.

"That could certainly be a possibility, you two! Wild Wilbur hid all of his outlawed loot somewhere in these mountains. I would love to display it all in City Hall." Mayor Goodway mused.

Ryder and Jake started to look through the cabin as a purple race car drove up and parked. The driver took off her helmet and got out of the car. This woman was wearing a purple race outfit to match her car's color scheme. She had platinum blond hair, gray eyes, purple lipstick, and long eyelashes. "Well, well, well. Lotta people here in the middle of nowhere. I didn't expect to see a crowd ready to watch me practice for the Adventure Bay 500." The woman smirked.

Genevieve scratched her head in confusion. "I'm sorry, who are you? We're currently examining Wild Wilbur's cabin." The mayor responded.

"The name is Carly. Carly Carmine Humdinger. You probably know of me by a different name… THE CHEETAH! World renowned racing champion. Hey, I know you, you're my brother's ex-girlfriend!" The Cheetah introduced herself.

"Ex-girlfriend…?! The only person I've dated in the past several months is Henry… wait, you're Henry's sister!?" Mayor Goodway inquired.

"You got it! I'm also a fantastic mom, my kid Harold's a genius. Now, you mentioned that old outlaw, Wild Wilbur? Lemme take a look." The Cheetah crowed, and waltzed into the cabin.

Ryder then pulled out a journal out of a treasure chest. "Wow, this must be Wild Wilbur's journal!" Ryder exclaimed.

"Woah, really?! The diary of that dastardly do-badder? Come on, let me see!" Jake shouted excitedly.

Ryder chuckled as he handed the journal to Jake, who gingerly flipped through the pages. "Dude, this is a detailed history of all of his criminal heists and villainous deeds! There's something really interesting on this last page, should I read it?" Jake thought out loud, before asking Ryder if he should read this intriguing final entry.

Ryder nodded, and Jake went ahead and read it. "It is the year 1880. My name is Wild Wilbur. I have done many great heists in my time as an outlaw in the wild west. Gold, jewels, silver, you name it. I've plundered it. I used to have no remorse for stealing from the town of Adventure Bay... but now, after what I've seen, I wish to repent. To you, whoever reads this message, there are monsters in this world." Jake began.

"When I was speaking of my grand exploits at Ernest's Juice Saloon in Angel Grove, the place was attacked, and I foolishly ran outside to confront the attacker along with my team of bandits. Honor among thieves and all. This... thing, it looked like a cactus with an eye, wearing pants, and it was the most terrifying thing I had ever seen, I tell ya h'what. Me and my boys unloaded our guns into it, and the shots didn't do a thing. It threw some sort of dynamite cactus that incinerated two o' my team and injured the rest of us. The Sheriff 'round these parts, the White Stranger, he and a group of colorfully dressed cohorts fought the monster off." The mountain climber continued.

"When the crisis was over, I went to the town's medicine man. He told me I had injuries on the inside and I didn't have very long left to live. I decided to get my affairs in order, and buried my treasure. To whomever reads this message. use the map I have attached and follow it to my booty. Return what I have stolen to the rightful resting place of Adventure Bay. This is the last message of Wild Wilbur." Jake finished, and a folded up piece of paper fell out of the journal.

"This looks like an old map!" Ryder exclaimed as he unfolded the piece of paper that had fallen out of the diary.

The Cheetah and Mayor Goodway ran inside, leaning over Ryder's shoulders and examining the map. "It must be a map to Wilbur's treasure! That cave with the big red X and the dollar signs HAS to be where he buried it!" Mayor Goodway gasped.

"Nice piece of paper." The Cheetah smirked, taking her phone out and snapping a photo of it. "Well, I'd love to stay and talk about myself, but I have TREASURE to find! And once I find it, I can sell it and get that sweet, sweet cash for more upgrades! Finders keepers, losers weepers! HASTA LA VISTA!" Cheetah snickered before running to her race car and driving off.

"If the Cheetah finds the treasure, she'll sell it to the highest bidder! Oh, curses!" Mayor Goodway groaned. "Don't worry Mayor!" Tuck reassured her. "Yeah! We'll find that treasure before that meanie head!" Ella affirmed. "And I know just the group to help us find the loot BEFORE she does! No job is too big, no pup is too small!" Ryder announced. Pressing the button on his pup pad, he summoned all of the pups to the Lookout. "PAW Patrol, to the Lookout!" Ryder declared.

"RYDER NEEDS US!" All of the pups shouted. Everest followed Tuck and Ella to the tower in her snowcat, following after the large car that they drove in. They arrived at the same time as Zuma, before tripping on a toy that was left by the entrance to the tower lobby, and tumbling into the elevator. "Seems like you need some landing practice!" Wild joked. The entire group laughed as the elevator began to rise up, stopping at the halfway point to dress everyone in their uniforms. Wild pressed his collar's tag, and the armor plating shot out from his pack, attaching to his head and legs before the spandex encased the rest of his body. "Time for my first rescue!" Wild exclaimed, grinning as the rest of the pups were dressed by the mechanical hands.

Once everyone was outfitted in their gear, the elevator resumed going up, and stopped at the control room as the glass doors slid open. Chase and the other pups leapt out of the elevator, with Wild joining at the end of the line next to Tuck and Ella. "PAW Patrol, ready for action, Ryder, sir!" Chase announced.

"Everyone, we found an old map belonging to Wild Wilbur that shows where he hid his loot, as well as a diary detailing all of his amazing exploits. The problem is, Mayor Humdinger's sister, the Cheetah, has a copy of the map! She took a picture of it with her phone, and now she has a head start with her race car! She wants to take the loot for herself, and then sell it!" Ryder revealed, giving the group a rundown of the situation at hand.

Ryder then pulled up the specifications of Wild's new vehicle on his pup pad. Rocket boosters…? Spiked tires that would let him ride on walls, and a mechanical frame that would let him take the bike off road and drive it onto any surface? They could certainly use this. "All right. For this mission, we'll need some all terrain power. Wild, your Cheetah Cycle can handle any kind of ground, so you'll be helping us look for the treasure. Chase, we'll use your spy drone to track the Cheetah. Rubble, we'll need you to help dig up the loot using your shovel. The rest of you pups can come along too if you want." Ryder instructed.

"Super Spy Chase is on the case!" Chase roared.

"Let's dig it!" Rubble cheered.

"This cat's ready for one heck of a ride!" Wild cheered.

"We're on it, Ryder!" The twins chorused.

"Um, Ryder? Is it okay if I stay behind? I've been wanting to brush up on my EMT skills. We've been getting into more risky rescues and dangerous scenarios… I want to be prepared for if things go badly during a rescue, and one of our team is hurt!" Marshall asked, blushing and tucking his tail between his legs as he requested to stay behind.

"Yeah, I've been teaching Wocky how to swim better since our Sea Lookout is gonna be finished soon. The treasure map isn't anywhere near the coast." Zuma added, also asking to stay behind since it was apparent his skills wouldn't be needed.

Rocky's cheeks turned red as Zuma told the rest of the group that they were swimming together, simply nodding his head to confirm that Zuma was telling the truth. "I'll be here if you need me, Ryder! Me and Ace are going to do some more work on the air pup packs and Air Patroller." Skye mentioned.

"That's perfectly fine, everyone! You all have lives, more to do than just rescue people. And this isn't a time where we need all paws on deck, so feel free to do your own thing! Just be ready to head out at a moment's notice in case we do end up needing your help." Ryder chuckled.

"PAW Patrol… is ON A ROLL!" Chase barked as Ryder went down the slide, with him and the rest of the group taking the slide to their vehicles.

Tuck and Ella put their car into motorcycle mode, with the car splitting in half and transforming into two motorcycles. Rubble and Chase landed in their construction rig and police cruiser, while one panel of the Lookout parking lot flipped over to reveal Wild's cheetah-patterned bronze motorcycle. "AWESOME! Paw Patrol Bronze, riding to the rescue!" Wild whooped, ecstatic with this epic new ride of his as he sped out of the Lookout's roads.

"Follow me and the twins, everyone! I'm the only one who's gotten a good look at the map, so I'll lead you along the path and we'll stop when there's a clue to decipher." Ryder instructed as they drove along the highway to the outskirts of the town.

Going off the road, they came to a section where the road ended. The Cheetah's race car was parked off the side of the asphalt. "Aside from Wild, none of our vehicles are built for off-road excursions… we'll have to hike it from here. That's not good for us, but on the other hand, that means the Cheetah won't be able to use her super speedy race car to get there before us! The map's first clue says… elephant plus tree…?" Ryder mused, a little confused by the hint on the map.

"Elephant…? There aren't any elephants in the mountains!" Ella protested.

"The only place I know of where you can find elephants is Tracker's jungle!" Tuck pointed out worriedly, stumped by this hint. He had never gone on a treasure hunt before!

"Hm… well, let's think. Maybe he meant something like an elephant." Chase thoughtfully said, putting the treasure finding skills to use that he had developed from multiple years of easter egg hunting as well as the pirate treasure hunt from last November.

"Something that looks like an elephant, huh? Let's look around and see if we can find something that resembles one!" Rubble suggested.

"Great idea pups!" Ryder complimented. The group started to look around, with Wild putting his superspeed to use and climbing up trees.

He managed to get up on one and looked around. "All I see are plain old trees, you guys." Wild called out.

Everyone turned to look at Wild, and gasped. "Wild, you're ON the elephant tree! That tree you climbed up looks like an elephant! That must be what the clue meant! Elephant plus tree, as in elephant tree!" Ryder exclaimed, seeing that the tree he had climbed looked shockingly similar to an elephant.

"Okay, the map says we go around the tree." Ryder noted, and Wild started to ride his motorcycle.

Chase's drone then came back with a visual for Ryder. "Chase, your drone found the Cheetah! She's crossing a log over a river!" Ryder then announced. They turned to see the Cheetah sprinting across the log.

"UGH! Those mangy mutts found me! Well, good luck crossing now!" The Cheetah snarled as she picked up the log and threw it away from the river, removing their way across the bridge.

"I got this! Chase can zipline over there, I can make the jump easily with my motorcycle!" Wild cried out, before accelerating on his motorcycle and doing a wheelie as it jumped over the gap that the river flowed between.

"ARF! Zipline!" Chase barked, shooting the zipline to the other side before pushing the log back to where it had been, creating a bridge for Ryder, Rubble, Tuck, and Ella to cross.

Soon enough, they came to another crossroads. "Which way now, Ryder?" Rubble wondered.

"The map says to turn left at the snowman…" Ryder answered, scratching his head.

"Snowman? The date of Wild Wilbur's last entry was in summer. That means it would have been too warm for snow to even form!" Tuck pondered.

"Maybe it was another structure… OH! THOSE BRANCHES! I bet they fell off that stack of three boulders! The one on top of the other two has little indentations that look like eyes and a nose!" Chase realized, lifting his paw and pointing it at the trio of boulders that were piled up.

The Cheetah then started to cross a rope bridge. "Buzz off, drone! I'm going to get this treasure!" The Cheetah growled.

Then the rope bridge started to fall apart, much to the Cheetah's frustration and the horror of the PAW Patrol. "We've gotta help her…!" Ryder shouted. "But my net won't go that far, Ryder!" Chase moaned.

"Then we'll need a mountain pup!" Ryder responded, calling their cyan member.

"Everest, Ryder here. I need you and your grappling hook at the old canyon rope bridge fast. Mayor Humdinger's sister, the Cheetah, is stuck on the bridge, and the bridge is about to fall apart!" Ryder quickly said.

"On my way, Ryder! Off the trail, Everest won't fail!" Everest yipped before climbing into her snowcat and ending the call.

"Just hang on, Miss Humdinger! Our friend will be here to help you soon enough!" Ryder reassured the woman who was holding onto the rope.

"UGH! Save it, kid. I've gotten out of situations ten times more perilous than this! I could easily inch my way across the rope and pull myself up at the other edge of the cliff if I wanted to! Worst comes to shove, I can drop into the river and ride the rapids until I can get to solid ground. Only reason I haven't done so yet is because I know you want to save me, and it's probably safer to accept YOUR help than try to get out of this mess on my own." The Cheetah groaned.

Within a few minutes, Everest was on the scene. "I'm here, Ryder! What can I do for you?" Everest asked enthusiastically. "Everest, shoot your grappling hook over the tree branch and land it near the mayor's sister. Then, the Cheetah can grab onto the line and swing it to the edge of the canyon." Ryder instructed.

"You got it! Ruff ruff, grappling hook!" Everest yipped, firing her grappling hook around the branch and dangling the line next to the Cheetah.

"I'm going to have to clean my racing suit of dog hair after this…" The woman complained as she grabbed the grappling hook and swung to safety, doing a backflip as she leapt off of the rope and landing on her feet.

"Wow, cool stunt." Wild mused.

"I'm a racer. I've had to eject from my ride a few times in the past. But bleh, you're a biker." The Cheetah grumbled.

"Hey, what's wrong with bikes?" Wild asked, his feelings hurt.

"Are you kidding me?! Motorcyclists are more than twenty times more likely to die in a crash than a car driver is! I may be a villainess, but I don't have a death wish!" The Cheetah explained.

She turned to the other Paw Patrol members and gave them an arrogant grin. "Thanks for the save, dummies! At least you get the satisfaction of having helped ME secure the treasure!" Mayor Humdinger's sister gloated before sprinting off.

"Don't worry, you guys! I know a shortcut!" Everest promised.

"Or…" Wild thoughtfully said. He then put his speed into overdrive as he did another jump. "CHEETAH SPEED!" Wild yelled out as his motorcycle jumped over the gap where the bridge used to be, landing safely on the other side. "The rest of you take Everest's shortcut! I'll rendezvous with you at the cave!" Wild told them before darting off in a bronze blur.

Everest, Ryder, Chase, Rubble, Tuck, and Ella all ran through the canyon, with Everest leading them through a shortcut to the cave. They passed underneath two trees that were bent in an X shape, and spotted the cave. "Hey guys!" Wild giggled, waving them over.

Heading into the cave, they saw a group of pebbles that were also laid out in the shape of the letter X.

"We beat the Cheetah!" Chase cheered.

"Now let's dig that treasure up!" Rubble cried out, and started to use his shovel to excavate underneath the pebble X.

After a deep hole was made, Ryder was able to pull out a treasure chest. "We got it!" Ryder exclaimed.

"Ryder, there's something else in this hole…" Rubble realized. As Ryder set down the chest and turned around, the Cheetah ran in and picked the wooden container up.

"SORRY LOSERS, but it looks like I GOT THE TREASURE!" The Cheetah snickered.

"HEY! We were the ones who found that!" Tuck argued.

"Yeah, that doesn't belong to you!" Ella agreed.

"Oh yeah? Well, I found it sitting here. Finders keepers, losers weepers! Now let's see what's in this baby!" The Cheetah sneered, before opening up the chest to find that it was filled with underwear. "What in the…?! LONG JOHNS?! THAT'S THE TREASURE OF WILD WILBUR!?" The Cheetah roared in shock and anger.

"I don't know, miss Carly. I bet in the old days, in the freezing cold, long underwear was the best thing you could have!" Ryder pointed out.

"Hmph. Well, too bad. This will make a great Christmas present for Harold. I can probably knit the rest of these into something cool. I did find the treasure instead of you guys, so suck it, losers! Time to take this back to Foggy Bottom!" The Cheetah gloated, before walking off with her prize.

"Come on! Let's go see what else is in that hole!" Rubble reminded the rest of the group after the Cheetah was out of earshot.

Wild, Ryder, and the pups ran back into the cave and helped Rubble dig out a second treasure chest. "I wonder what's in this chest?" Chase contemplated.

"Maybe some hats to match those long johns!" Everest giggled.

"Oooh, if we get more clothes, I bet Ryder or Ben could turn them into yarn balls!" Wild exclaimed. Everyone laughed at Everest and Wild's response.

Opening up the chest, the glint and glow of authentic gold shone onto the team. "Real old time outlaw loot!" Ella squealed.

"That underwear must have been a decoy treasure!" Tuck realized.

"Come on, everyone. Let's take it to Mayor Goodway!" Ryder said.

Time for some responses to the reviews sent in! I feel like I should start doing these now that the story has gained significant reviewing.

Dylan Multiverse: For your information, YES. Sweetie and Arrby will be given redemption arcs and will join the team as full fledged members.

Actionmoviefan: Robo-Dog is up and running again, but he won't be made a full character. There will be Ranger team-ups in the story, or at the very least a homage to every season. Some seasons of Power Rangers will be given more focus/tribute than others. As for the Cat Pack, they will be appearing MUCH sooner than the Copycat. A majority of the Mighty Pups stuff will be reserved for the sixth and final season of Rescue Force.

If you haven't noticed, every PAW Patrol member's introduction has been with a color. This chapter introduces Wild as PAW Patrol Bronze. Here are the other colors for the upcoming members...
