Season 3 Episode 2: Pups Save Their Floating Friends! Blossoming Feelings!

April 21st, 2030

"Heh, it's good to see you, Ryder." Katie shyly greeted as she saw the spiky haired brunette at the park with Chase climbing up a tree to grab a balloon for Alexander Porter.

"Oh! Hi Katie. How've you been?" Ryder asked, smiling as he saw his childhood friend.

"I've been great! Business at the clinic has been quiet ever since those friends of yours left." Katie chuckled, referring to Tommy, Koda, and Tyler. The out of towners had left shortly after the whole dinosaur fiasco, and life in Adventure Bay had calmed down since then.

Ryder had been wanting to do this for a while, and he had finally worked up the courage to do so. The constant egging from Ben and Ace had only further cemented his resolve to do this. He had made a promise to himself that the next time he saw Katie, he would ask her out. Taking a deep breath, he summoned all of his confidence, and started to pop the question. "Katie, I was wondering if maybe you would like to have a meal somewhere for dinner with me?" Ryder inquired.

"You mean like… a date?" Katie wondered.

Ryder blushed and rubbed the back of his head as he nodded. Suddenly, they heard a futuristic sound, and Mayor Goodway let out a surprised gasp. "Chickaletta, neither of us are very good at flyiiiiiing!" Genevieve shouted in worry as she started to float in the air.

Chase let go of the balloon as he sprung into action without a second thought. "NET!" Chase barked out, and shot his net at Mayor Goodway. However, she was ascending at such a rate that the net missed her.

While the net was retracting back into his pup pack's launcher to try again, a circular blast hit him and Mr. Porter, causing him to start floating in the air uncontrollably. "Whoaaaa! I'll get you all down, but…" Chase yelped as he flailed his paws into the air and tried to do a breaststroke motion, barely managing to get back to the tree and latching on with the suction cups in his spy gear.

"I'll get you down, Mayor Goodway!" Marshall announced as he ran to his fire truck.

"Marshall, take cover!" Ryder ordered as those strange circular blasts began to rain down from the sky. He saw one that was headed right for Katie and instinctively reacted. "KATIE!" Ryder yelled as he leapt into the path of the shot and started to float into the air.

"RYDER!" Katie cried out in horror as she saw her friend lift off the ground.

She quickly grabbed ahold of his leg to keep him from getting stuck in the sky. "Thanks for the save, Katie!" Ryder gratefully said.

"Anytime! It's what friends are for." Katie happily replied, the question about the date out of her mind (to Ryder's disappointment).

Chase used his net to create a barrier that Ryder could lie against and not go any higher. "Too bad that my ladder doesn't reach high enough! Hey, Ryder, why not use your red hawk wing suit to get around like this?" Marshall lamented, before making a suggestion to Ryder.

The seventeen year old shook his head no sadly. "I would, but Ben's still working on the changers! We only finished the Air Patroller a few days ago, it'll take time for the costume changers to be completed. I have a plan on how we can get me down. Chase, use your zipline to attach me to Marshall's fire truck!" Ryder revealed, before coming up with a course of action.

Chase activated his zipline once he climbed down to the ground, shooting it to Marshall's fire truck and sticking the other end to Ryder's chest. Katie hopped in the back of the fire engine as Chase and Ryder flew behind them while they drove to the Lookout. "Heh, I never knew that being a balloon was so much fun!" Ryder laughed as he floated above the streets.

Katie called ahead using a pup pad that Ryder had given her in case of emergencies. "Rocky, we need you to grab some rope from your recycling stash real quick!" Katie radioed the mixed breed.

"Katie? Um, okay. I'll go get it! I know I've got some spare line from Farmer Al in my truck…" Rocky replied before the rustling of him searching through his collected refuse was heard over the communications.

When they got to the Lookout, Katie and Marshall held Ryder in place as Rocky tied the rope around his owner. Ben came out of the tower and his eyes widened as he saw Ryder floating in midair. "Woah, that's new. Ryder flying without his mighty armor or the Air Patroller wing suit?" Ben mused.

Skye flew up with her jetpack to her owner, gazing at him with concern in her eyes. "Ryder, are you okay!? What happened?!" Skye worriedly questioned.

"Something strange is making people float, I think it might be some kind of ray. We've got to find the source and stop it. But first, we have to make sure everyone is safe. Robo-Dog, it's go time! PAW Patrol, to the Air Patroller! That includes you, Katie!" Ryder announced, summoning the pups as their jet was raised from the storage compartment in the backyard, Ace already in the pilot's seat.

Tuck, Ella, Rex, Rubble, Rocky, Skye, Marshall, and Zuma all walked into the Air Patroller, while Chase used his zipline to get in. Alex wasn't here today, as he was helping Liberty out in Adventure City with her investigation. Ben swore that his wolf pup had a crush on that Daschund. Ben and Katie climbed on board their jet as Katie was impressed by their new plane. The mechanical arms emerged and dressed the pups in their Air Patrol gear and pup packs, as well as outfitting Katie and Ben in flight gear. Katie was surprised that she was being put into a flying suit, which was colored blue.

"Air Patrol, ready for- whoa- action, Ryder, sir!" Chase declared.

Ryder's face popped up on the monitor. "Okay, pups, we need to work fast. First, let's catch all our friends so they won't float away. Chase, I'll need you and your net to catch Farmer Al's pigs. Rubble, you'll use your hoverboard to bring them back down. Skye, you're going to have to handle Mayor Goodway. Zuma, you're going to need to save Mr. Porter and his grandson, who are flying over the bay. Ben, Rex, and Rocky, I need the three of you to find the source of this floating funny business." Ryder instructed.

"Rubble on the flying double!" Rubble exclaimed.

"Chase is on this aerial case!" The German Shepherd shouted.

"This puppy's gotta fly!" Skye squealed.

"Time to dive into the sky!" Zuma cheered.

"Green means go!" Rocky roared.

"Let's dino do this!" Rex howled.

"Jet to the rescue!" Ben shouted.

The group all leapt out of the plane, splitting up to do their assigned jobs. Chase and Rubble flew over to the two pigs that were floating in the sky. "Ready, Rubble?" Chase asked.

"You know I am! On the double!" Rubble giggled.

"All right! NET!" Chase barked out, shooting the net and managing to catch the two hogs in the net, breathing a sigh of relief as they were both secure and safe in the net.

"Nice shot, Chase! That's right, piggies. We're going to wee-wee-wee all the way home." Rubble joked as he used the hook on his hoverboard to secure the net with the pigs, flying them back to Farmer Al's.

"Brave chicken of my heart! I'm scared." Mayor Goodway anxiously said as she held onto the flagpole of City Hall for dear life.

Skye flew up and turned around, extending her back leg. "Grab onto my back paws, Mayor Goodway!" Skye offered.

"I can't! If I let go of the flagpole, I'lll float away, and if I let go of my purse, then Chickaletta will float away!" Mayor Goodway moaned.

Skye thought about it for a minute before her eyes lit up. "I've got an idea! Let go of your purse for one second, and then I'll get Chickaletta." Skye suggested. Hesitating for a moment, Genevieve decided to place her trust in the pilot pup. Releasing her grip on the purse, it started to fly away, but Skye bit down on the purse strap with her mouth. "NOW!" Skye growled through her clenched jaw. Immediately, Mayor Goodway grabbed onto the bottom of her purse, and Skye started to take them to safety, placing her securely underneath the bell area of City Hall.

Zuma flew over to Mr. Porter and his grandson. "Hold on tight, dudes, I'll get you guys down." Zuma reassured. Spying Captain Turbot and the Flounder down below, he dove down through the air and hovered above the boat.

"Hey, Zuma! I must say, you're soaring through the skies like you've done this all your life! How can I be of help?" Captain Turbot mused, giving the water pup a compliment.

Zuma puffed his chest out with pride. "Well, with this air pup pack, flying is just swimming through the air! Anyways, could you let me borrow one of your life preservers?" Zuma asked.

"Certainly, Zuma! And there's still a single lifesaver to spare! Here you go!" Captain Turbot answered, tossing him the buoy. Zuma flew it over to the Porters, who grabbed ahold of it while the Labrador dragged the rope that was attached to the buoy over to Captain Turbot. The sailor tied the rope to the boat, and nodded his head. "I've secured the knots! This should keep you fellows from floating freely." Captain Turbot assured Mr. Porter and his grandson.

Ben, Rocky, and Rex were scanning the skies for the source of the strange rays when they saw them being shot out from the spaceship of the alien that they had helped back in January. "Our old space alien friends are back!" Rocky cheered, excited to see the little green creatures again.

"Ryder, we've found the source of the gravitational disturbances. They're coming from the ray on the spaceship of the aliens." Ben reported.

"Then we've got to fix it! Let's dino do it!" Rex exclaimed. Ryder smiled as he saw them work to fix the spaceship from the periscope, then he felt the rope loosen. Looking down, he saw a seagull pecking at the rope that was keeping him from floating away. Squawking, the bird clamped its beak down on the rope and cut it up, before spitting it out and causing Ryder to start flying away. "Guys!? A little help!?" Ryder asked urgently, the pup pad showing him starting to ascend higher and higher.

"RYDER!" Everyone left aboard the Air Patroller shrieked in horror.

Katie didn't waste a second. Without a second thought, she pressed the button to open up the front of the Air Patroller, and leapt out of it, spreading her arms out and activating the jets on her back. Shooting into the air like a rocket, Katie flew into the sky, tackling Ryder in midair and grabbing onto him. "KATIE!? You can fly!?" Ryder gasped.

"Didn't I tell you that I went to take paragliding and skydiving lessons in Angel Grove?" Katie asked as she started to take Ryder back to the Lookout balcony.

"N-no, you didn't! Katie, LOOK OUT!" Ryder shouted as they nearly crashed into the lookout elevator, with Katie barely managing to shut her jets off in time. The two tumbled onto the ground and their heads bumped into each other, with Ryder's lips colliding with the blue helmet that Katie's flight suit was equipped with.

The entire Air Patrol crew gasped as it looked like Ryder and Katie had kissed, and they started to chatter excitedly about this. "RYDER KISSED KATIE!" Ace screamed enthusiastically over the communications, and all of the pups started to howl. Ryder immediately turned off the pup pad, feeling embarrassed about the whole situation.

"Do you want to kiss me?" Katie chuckled as she removed her helmet.

"Y-yeah?! Not right now though… Everything got a little awkward after Ace said we kissed." Ryder admitted.

Katie laughed and the two of them held hands, with Ryder floating to the ceiling of the control room before eventually tumbling down to the ground.

"Anti-gravity ray's fixed!" Ben announced over the communications.

Looking at the clock, Ryder saw that it was almost noon. "So… how about instead of dinner, we go and get some lunch together?" Katie chuckled. Ryder blushed as he rubbed the back of his head. "I'd like that." Ryder replied.
