Season 3 Episode 6: CITY IN CRISIS! PAW PATROL MOVIE PART THREE!

"PAW PATROL IS ON A ROLL …are you kidding me!? This is ridiculous!" Ryder yelled out, before they came to a halt in the middle of traffic.

"Green means go! GREEN MEANS GO! Green does still mean go, right?" Rocky asked, confused by the fact that no one was moving and yet the stop lights were green.

"You're taking Main Street at rush hour? No wonder you're stuck in traffic!" A voice exclaimed, with a female Dachshund hopping across the roof of cars and landing on Ryder's ATV.

"LIBS!" Alex howled in delight.

"I'm Liberty. We spoke on the phone. So nice to finally meet you in person, Ryder!" Liberty greeted him.

"Ryder. Pleased to meet you as well." Ryder formally chuckled.

"Good to see you, Liberty. Ryder, this is the ally that I made. She's been keeping an eye on the mayor when he was running for office. She's an expert at traversing this landscape." Ben commented.

"What your team needs is a pup like me. I know the city like the back of my paw. Uptown, downtown, crosstown, midtown, 24/7/365, I'll get you where you need to be!" Liberty assured.

"Well, we could use a hand getting out of this traffic jam." Ryder answered.

"That's what I'm talking about. My first assignment from the head honcho himself!" Liberty cheered, before whipping her head around to a car that was by them and screeching at them like a banshee to get off of the road so they could save people. As they drove, she gave them directions on where to turn. "I'm like a furry GPS!" Liberty bragged before shouting to turn left.

They soon arrived at the city plaza, fireworks flying every which way. "Now we know what happens when you give fireworks to someone as incompetent as Humdinger! All right, everyone, let's do this! Skye, monitor the situation from above and airlift anyone that might be stranded on a rooftop. Zuma, you'll be on standby with your buoy launcher in case someone is about to fall. Rubble, you'll be on standby as well. Chase, form a perimeter. Marshall, you'll need to extinguish the fireworks and dispose of them!" Ryder announced.

"Chase is on the case!" The German Shepherd whooped.

"Let's kick the tires and fight some fires!" Marshall shouted out.

"Don't lose it, reuse it!" Rocky roared.

"I'll help people out no matter what!" Ella cried out as she started to follow behind Chase.

The three set out to do their duties.

Chase used his police tape dispenser in his cruiser to create a perimeter, while Marshall used his fire truck to put out the fire. "HYDRO BAZOOKA!" Marshall shouted as a high pressure water blaster emerged from his truck and shot out condensed orbs of water, extinguishing the active fireworks that had yet to go off and were lying on the ground.

Using the blasters in his pup pack, he was able to put out the fireworks that were littering the streets. Activating his thermal vision visor, he confirmed that there were no more fireworks on the streets, and that it was safe for Rocky to begin crushing them in his recycling truck.

Chase finished up with securing the perimeter and then saw a fire up on the city hall's balcony, noticing that people were stuck on it. The Adventure City firefighters were busy battling blazes across the perimeter and none of them were able to focus on the balcony. "PERIMETER SECURE! Ryder, there are people trapped up on the balcony, and the firefighters are dealing with other fires! I'm going in!" Chase exclaimed.

"Marshall, Zuma, get over there!" Ben yelled as he started to make his way over to the balcony that Chase was speaking about.

Chase activated the ejector seat in his police cruiser and was launched into the air, deploying his parachute and gliding over to the balcony before landing down on it. The people that were trapped on the balcony let out a jubilant cry as Chase touched down on the stone terrace. "Someone's here to save us!" An old man hoarsely said, coughing.

"Breathe in through your shirts, everyone! It'll keep the smoke out! Everything's gonna be fine, I'm gonna get you out of here-" Chase told everyone, before a burst of wind dragged him backwards and caught his parachute on the balcony's ledge, making him hang in midair.

Chase gasped as he saw the fires below him as he was stuck hanging from his parachute's ropes, his police hat tumbling off of his head and being consumed by the flames. "Come on, we have to help him!" He heard one of the people on the balcony shout, and he saw the legs of someone approach the edge and begin to try and pull him up. The person recoiled, however, when a spark flew from the nearby blaze and struck Chase's parachute, causing it to ignite.

"RYYYYDDDEEEEEERRRRR!" Chase screamed in terror as the flames slowly began to spread across his parachute and make their way to the cords.

Marshall's fire truck skidded to a halt as he started to blast the fires below Chase with his Hydro Bazooka, as well as using the hose to put out the flames that were on the balcony. The embers began to spread across the ropes and Chase could feel their singing heat, as well as the connection to the parachute above on the balcony weakening. All of a sudden, he was in a sphere of water, and then it burst. Marshall must have blasted him and the cords for his parachute. However, they had been damaged by the fire, and the soaking wet water made them snap, causing Chase to fall to the ground. "BUOY!" Zuma frantically barked, the floatation device firing off from his pup pack and landing underneath Chase, cushioning his fall.

Chase sputtered out some water that he had swallowed when he was hit by the water blast as Ryder ran over and picked him up. Ben got on the scene with his motorcycle, and saw Chase's ruined pup pack, the soaking wet dog, and him shivering, managing to put it together. He felt awful for what had happened to Chase.

"Ben, take care of the rest of the situation and handle the press. I need to talk to Chase." Ryder ordered, his voice shaking as he carried Chase to a nearby park.

Tuck, Ella, and Wild drove up, and Skye set her helicopter-plane on the ground. Rubble hopped out of his construction rig. "Where's Chase and Ryder?" Wild whispered.

"Chase got in a really bad situation, and Ryder's taking care of him right now, dude." Zuma quietly answered.

"Not now, everyone." Ben hushed the pups as the news reporters came running up to film this as Marshall got the people and pups on the balcony down.

"You seem to be okay, no injuries visible. Chase… how do you feel?" Ryder asked.

"I can't believe I forgot to disconnect my parachute… It's air rescue 101!" Chase berated himself as Ryder assessed him for injuries. "...I'm still scared, Dad." Chase then admitted, a few tears flowing down his face.

Ryder's heart melted as he heard Chase call him that. "That's why we're a team, Chase. Everyone pulled together and things worked out okay." His owner reminded his pup.

"But what if they didn't? What if something happened to those people and it was all my fault?" Chase whimpered.

Ryder put a hand on Chase's head and stroked the fur there. "Chase, you can't worry about the 'what if' questions. Doing that will tear you apart on the inside." Ryder said.

"I screwed up, Ryder… Now nobody in this city will see me as a hero…" Chase groaned.

"Not true! I think you're a hero!" A voice piped up.

Chase raised his head up to see an older dog with a striped scarf and a pin on that scarf walk up and wave hello with his paw. "Uh, hi. I'm Cricket. I was stuck up on that balcony with the other people and uh- saw you fly in with that parachute of yours… I'll be honest, I was really scared up there, thought I would maybe even die of fright, heh… but then you showed up, all- handsome and heroic looking… I was so scared, I might have died of fright! But then you showed up, all handsome and heroic looking, and you gave me and the others hope." The older dog introduced himself.

"R-really? You think I'm a hero? But I screwed up and got in danger just like the rest of you." Chase asked.

"You were willing to put your life on the line to save all of those people! That's what makes someone a hero!" Cricket answered.

Chase smiled and nodded his head, comforted by the fact that not everyone in the city thought that he wasn't a hero.

"Ben Allen! As co-leader of the Paw Patrol, what do you have to say about your presence in Adventure City? Will this be permanent? Are you and your rescue force going to put the police and firefighters of this city out of business?" The reporter asked.

"Absolutely not. We are going to operate in Adventure City as we complete a request from a client, and when we are finished, we will be returning to Adventure Bay. The police and firefighters of this fine city are fully capable of handling most emergencies on their own. Adventure Bay, on the other hand, does not have such people to handle problems there." Ben immediately replied.

"Aren't you a little young to be co leader of a team of heroes?" The reporter followed up.

"Most Rangers are teenagers when they first start their jobs. I was freaking twelve when I started to co-lead the Rescue Force with Ryder. Now, that's enough questions for the evening. Our team needs to rest and repair our gear. Good night." Ben curtly said, nodding to the pups.

They all ran to their vehicles and drove back to the Lookout, thankfully not having to suffer through another traffic jam. Ryder and Chase regrouped with them at the tower, and they had a pizza dinner together before going to bed. Chase tossed and turned around in his little cubby hole before finally drifting off into sleep. Unfortunately, it would not be a peaceful sleep…

He ran up the staircase and burst through the door of the emergency rooftop exit. Running to the edge of the roof, he could see the engineers who were swinging from their work station. One of the cords had become disconnected and was threatening to throw the engineers off. "Don't worry, we're going to get you down! Just hang on a little longer!" Chase shouted with his megaphone.

"Please hurry!" One of the workers urgently yelled back.

Using his helmet visor, he magnified the view of the worker's station that was hanging and swinging in the air. It wouldn't hold much longer. "Ryder, I'm going to get them!" Chase announced.

"Hold on, Chase!" Ryder yelped.

"Chase, no! Wait for backup!" Ben's voice protested.

Chase shook his head no. "WE MIGHT LOSE THEM IF I WAIT FOR BACKUP!" Chase argued, and the communications went dead. Lightning crackled in the sky as Chase took a few steps backwards. "ZIPLINE!" Chase snarled. The spike embedded itself into the brick wall behind him, and the other end of the line attached itself to the glass window next to the workers. He leapt into the air and went down the zipline. To his horror, the other suspension cords snapped and the workers were flung off of the platform, shrieking in fear as they fell to the ground and stopped moving when they hit the earth.

"NO!" Chase cried out in terror, his police hat flying off of his head due to a strong burst of wind. Then he glanced back up at the end of his zipline and a loud crack was heard. The glass that his zipline was attached to shattered, and Chase plummeted to the ground. Looking up at the sky, it was no longer black, but crimson red. As he was about to hit the ground, he turned his head to the side and the very truck that he had nearly been run over by as a pup slammed into him, unimaginable pain shooting through every inch of his body before he shot up in bed screaming.

Poor Chase...

The nightmare that he had was originally a cut scene from the movie, and it baffles me that they cut it. I mean, it makes sense from the perspective of the tone they were going for, but I think the film would have been much more powerful had they kept it in. Removing the scene also weakened the film narratively: it removed an explanation for why Chase froze up.

(also fun fact, in the train loop scene, had Chase gone on his zipline in the movie, he would have died just like he did in his nightmare, the zipline falls off.)

Cricket is the character of AviWasLost, go check out their story! It tells the events of the movie from their character's perspective, and also will contain episodes that didn't make the cut to get adapted for Rescue Force!
