Season 3 Episode 13: MOTO PATROL SAVES A MOTO MAYOR! END OF THE LINE FOR THE RUFF RUFF PACK!
May 16th, 2030
"What a nice day at the beach. Would be a real shame if someone were to cause some… WHEEL TROUBLE!" Hubcap snarled maliciously as he, Dwanye, and Gasket started to ride their bikes all over the beach.
Hubcap crushed a sand castle, Gasket drove her bike into a volleyball net (though she felt a little bad about doing so), and Dwayne clapped his paws together. "Yay! This is fun!" The Great Dane giggled innocently.
Gasket sighed as she saw the amused look on his face. "Leave us alone!" Several citizens of Adventure Bay shouted at them.
They quickly made their way off of the beach and regrouped. "When I get the turbo booster, I'll be ruffer and tuffer than the two of you put together! Then I'LL be the one calling the shots for this pack!" Gasket declared.
"Turbo booster!? Sounds like another one of your pathetic inventions! Come on, Dwayne, we're out of here!" Hubcap growled, driving off towards Mr. Porter's cafe.
Gasket stayed behind, groaning as the two boys disturbed the peace and were all rowdy. Hubcap even had the gall to try and eat someone's sandwich. Didn't he know that he could eat something poisonous for him and get himself sick or killed!? Mayor Goodway stood up and went over to talk with Farmer Al. "Albert, I'm sick of the Ruff Ruff Pack running rampant across our town!" Genevieve vented.
"Me too! But what can we do? The PAW Patrol is in Adventure City, and Everest and Tracker just went back home with their owners for a day off!" Albert exclaimed.
"We can certainly do something! Or… I CAN! I am the mayor, after all! Farmer Albert, please take Chickaletta to stay with her family at your farm. I'm going to deal with these rowdy pups!" Mayor Goodway exclaimed, before handing Farmer Al her pet chicken.
Driving her car back to her house, she went into the far back of her closet and grabbed her old leather jacket and helmet. "I thought the day that I would wear these again would never come… but for the good of Adventure Bay, and those rowdy pups, I have no other choice!" Genevieve thought to herself.
Donning her biker outfit, she hopped on her bike and drove it up to the Ruff Ruff Pack. She was stopped by Farmer Al. "Mayor, what are you doing!? Did Halloween come early!?" Farmer Al wondered.
"No, this is my plan. I'm going to channel my inner biker and join the Ruff Ruff Pack! By getting them to trust me, I'll be able to turn the lives of the Ruff Ruff Pack around and rehabilitate their naughty ways! And the name isn't Genevieve Goodway anymore. My name is BERNADETTE BADWAY!" Mayor Goodway answered, before riding off.
"I wouldn't be tangling with that lot of no good lowlife dogs if I were you." Farmer Al nervously said as Goodway approached the pups.
"Greetings, fellow ruffians! Bernadette Badway here, baddest biker to ever ride in Adventure Bay! I want to join your crew!" Goodway told them.
"YOU!? A HUMAN!? No human will ever join the Ruff Ruff Pack!" Hubcap roared in anger.
"I dunno, Hubcap, she looks pretty bad to me!" Dwayne exclaimed.
"Come on, Hubcap, not all humans are going to treat us like the people at the pound did." Gasket insisted.
"I-if you're so bad, prove it! Step on that grass right there! The one with the don't step on sign! And then litter!" Hubcap challenged.
"Very well then!" Mayor Goodway defiantly responded, tossing a candy bar wrapper on the ground next to the trash can and then stomping on the grass.
She didn't really like this, but if it meant removing the Ruff Ruff Pack as a threat to Adventure Bay, it would be worth it in the end. "Okay, you wanna be in this pack!? Prove that you're a genuine biker and do a wheelie!" Hubcap stammered.
"With pleasure. I've been biking since before you were born, pup!" Mayor Goodway smirked as she rode on her front wheel, which impressed Gasket and Dwayne.
"NO WAY! She can do a FRONT wheelie!? I don't have the guts to do that!" Dwayne gasped.
Back in Adventure City, Ryder and the first six pups were playing fetch while Ben was brushing Liberty, Tuck, Ella, and Alex. They suddenly received a call on their Adventure Bay hotline, which was supposed to not receive any calls. Ryder picked up the phone and saw that it was Captain Turbot. "Hi Cap'n Turbot. What's up?" Ryder asked.
"Ryder, Mayor Goodway's barreling boisterously on a bike, and with a group of puppies that call themselves the Ruff Ruff Pack! They're speeding towards the swamp! I'm afraid they could get into a precarious predicament there!" The sailor told them.
"We're on it! No Ruff Ruff Pack is too wild, no pup is too small!" Ryder declared.
"Jack, open a groundbridge to Adventure Bay. Ryder, I'm going to stay behind and finish up taking care of Tuck, Ella, and Alex. We might be needed for a rescue here. You and the main six pups might not be skilled motorcyclists, but your Rescue Racers will be fast enough to handle the Ruff Ruff Pack. And they won't be able to slip away since the streets of Adventure Bay are nowhere near as crowded as Adventure City's." Ben told them.
"We'll be with you in spirit!" Tuck promised.
"Yeah, our hearts are with you guys!" Ella added.
"Go get them!" Alex cheered.
Ryder nodded and gave them a thumbs up as he, Chase, Marshall, Rubble, Zuma, Rocky, and Skye all ran to the basement and went through the groundbridge portal that took them back to their Adventure Bay Lookout. "Thanks for coming so quickly, everyone. Mayor Goodway is riding with the Ruff Ruff Pack for some reason, and they're headed to the swamp! We've got to keep an eye on them and keep them out of trouble. For this mission, we're going to need turbo power to keep up with those bikers! We'll be using your Rescue Racers. Skye, your Rescue Racer plane will be used to track down Mayor Goodway. Zuma, we need you to navigate the swamp and use your amphibious mode to save them if they get stuck in the water. The rest of you pups, be prepared to move out at a moment's notice. PAW Patrol is on a roll!" Ryder explained the situation, giving the assignments to the pups before going to the garage.
Skye and Zuma took the slide to their vehicles, and they tore out of the parking lot. "SHIFT INTO TURBO!" Skye and Zuma yelled out, turning the keys in their pupmobiles and switching them into their Rescue Racer mode.
Ryder joined them on a motorcycle as they blitzed down the road to the swamp. Skye switched her racer into plane mode and flew in the sky, spotting the mayor and a potential danger. "Ryder, I found the mayor, but she's closing in on the swamp… and a sleeping alligator!" Skye reported.
"That's not good, the alligator won't be happy if it gets woken up! Zuma, take a water shortcut and stop the mayor!" Ryder ordered.
"I'm on it! Let's drive in!" Zuma cheered, switching his vehicle into amphibious mode and driving into the swamp water.
"I can't stop making trouble!" Mayor Goodway chuckled as she drove ahead, not seeing the alligator in front of her.
"Oooh, hell yeah! This is going to be good! Wait, Bernadette, watch out! Alligator!" Gasket cheered, before barking in horror as she saw the scaly swamp animal in the mayor's path. "I can't watch!" Dwayne whimpered in fear.
"Buoy launcher, activate!" Zuma shouted, shooting a rope with two buoys from his vehicle out that wrapped around the trees and Mayor Goodway's bike, stopping her short of hitting the crocodile. "That was close, Mayor! Now let's get you back to town." Zuma told the mayor.
"The name is Bernadette BADWAY! And I'm not going anywhere! I've got bad things to do, very bad things!" The mayor defiantly said, before leaning in and lowering her voice so that only the chocolate Labrador could hear what she was about to say next. "Sorry Zuma. I'm undercover! I'm on a mission to get the Ruff Ruffs to change their bad dog ways!" Genevieve apologized to the pup, before the gator bit the rope and let her ride off.
"See, Hubcap! Even the Paw Patrol are after her! She really is one of us!" Dwayne happily said to their leader.
Hubcap gritted his teeth angrily. "The day a human joins this pack is the day I die! She'll never make it through this next test!" Hubcap darkly thought.
They drove off to the desert, and Skye followed them. Ryder radioed the rest of the pups. "Rubble, Rocky, Marshall, Chase! The Ruff Ruff Pack and the Mayor are heading to the desert! I got a bad feeling about this!" Ryder told them.
"We're on it, Ryder! PAW Patrol, roll out!" Chase responded, and the four other pups rushed to the desert.
Hubcap and Dwayne were setting up a metal ball and screwing a golden screw in with his makeshift pup pack while Mayor Goodway talked to Gasket. "You pups may be bad, but you two are adorable. And I can tell you two aren't as bad hearted as you make yourselves appear to be. What made you decide to hang around with Hubcap?" Genevieve asked.
"Well, it's a long story. We were newborn strays and we lived in the Adventure City pound for four years of our life. The people who took care of us weren't very good: they yelled, they shouted, they even hit us with their fists and feet! Hubcap developed a very strong hatred for humans. Me and Dwayne didn't agree with that. We knew that not all people had to be as bad as those pound people. It wasn't a good place to live, though, so we escaped. We passed by a store that had TV monitors on display, and the TV screens were showing a motocross event. That's how we discovered our calling in life: motorcycles. We had to steal some from an old vintage motorcycle show, and then we became the Ruff Ruff Pack. Intimidating whoever we came across into giving us food and water. It… wasn't a happy life, and Hubcap was a tyrant." Gasket explained.
"Oh my…" Genevieve inhaled.
"I've debated leaving that stupid bulldog several times, but I always stick around because I can't leave Dwayne in his irresponsible paws. Dwayne's my little brother now. He's the only one I've ever had to care about me. For all his talk of loyalty, Hubcap doesn't give a crap about us. He constantly disses my ideas and when he does like them, he claims that he came up with them. I wish I could have an owner…" Gasket lamented.
"What if I adopted the three of you?" Mayor Goodway suggested.
The Siberian husky gasped and she looked at the human biker with excitement and hope. "You'd be willing to adopt us?! REALLY!?" Gasket squealed.
"Of course I'm willing to adopt you and Dwayne! Even Hubcap! Now, you wouldn't be able to be bad all the time, there wouldn't be biking 24/7! I used to be a bad biker girl all the time when I was young, and let me tell you, it really eats up your time and energy. But we could go out on the town and cause a little bit of minor to moderate mischief every couple of days." Goodway earnestly answered.
"A real home… not having to constantly wonder if Hubcap's antics could get us killed… actually getting to be a normal pup… AND we get to keep our bikes and be bad every once in a while?! YES! Dwayne's going to love this! We'll have to try and convince Hubcap, he'll be the most difficult to persuade." Gasket replied.
Unknown to the two girls, their voices carried through the desert and over into Hubcap's ears. Their exchange infuriated him. Gasket was willing to turn her back on him and ditch him for some HUMAN!? Had she forgotten how their kind had treated her back at the pound as a pup!? He would have to make sure this Bernadette Badway would NEVER ride with the Ruff Ruff Pack EVER AGAIN! Adjusting the screw so that it would come loose after she went into the globe, he made the human come over to the metal ball. "You want to get in the Ruff Ruff Pack? Your last trial is the GLOBE OF STEEL! Get in." Hubcap demanded.
Mayor Goodway looked at the steel orb and gulped. Gasket looked at Hubcap like he was crazy, but didn't say anything. After Mayor Goodway started riding around in the metal ball, the screw that Hubcap had sabotaged came loose and sent the ball speeding around the desert. Hubcap and Dwayne got in their motorcycles and Hubcap drove away. "BERNADETTE!" Gasket screamed as she chased after the runaway steel globe.
"Ryder! The mayor's on a motorcycle inside a giant steel sphere, and she's headed for a cliff!" Skye shouted over their communications.
"Chase, you need to use your net! Get to the cliff and deploy your safety net!" Ryder urgently said.
Chase sped up and got to the canyon that Skye was flying over, and barked out his net, shooting it from his motorcycle. Mayor Goodway in her steel ball bounced off of the net and continued to roll through the canyon before slowing down in the sand dunes. "Skye will be with you in a moment, Mayor!" Chase reassured her.
"I'll go get Dwayne and Hubcap, Bernadette! I'll be right with you real soon!" Gasket told her future owner, before driving off after Hubcap and Dwayne.
Meanwhile, Hubcap wasn't able to see where he was going, and he made a very rough turn- one that was so wild that it caused the sidecar that was carrying Dwayne to detach and drive into a huge rock! Gasket was there to see it happen, and she screamed as she saw Dwayne flung from the sidecar. "Dwayne!? DWAYNE!" Gasket cried out in horror as she dismounted her bike and ran over to the injured Great Dane.
There was a nasty cut on his forehead, and Dwayne was groaning, his eyes fluttering open and shut. Hubcap rode up and snickered as he puffed his chest out with pride. "Pretty cool trick, huh?!" Hubcap smirked.
Dwayne was half unconscious, and Gasket wasn't sure if he was going to make it. She had hit her breaking point now that Dwayne had gotten hurt from Hubcap's incompetence. "…It's over." Gasket angrily said through gritted teeth.
"Whaddya mean, it's over?! The wheel fun has just begun!" Hubcap chuckled.
At that, Gasket started foaming at the mouth out of pure fury. "NO! I'm tired of you and your crap Hubcap! You treat me and my ideas like dirt, you constantly do reckless stunts, and you drag me and Dwayne into your stupid schemes! If it weren't for Dwayne I would have ditched you long ago! But I'm done with this! I'm done with you putting Dwayne's life on the line just for a quick thrill!" Gasket shrieked in rage at Hubcap.
"What are you doing?! I didn't come up with the idea for you two to leave!" Her former leader scoffed, not realizing what Gasket was doing.
"UGH! And there you go again! Taking the ideas of everyone else and claiming them as your own! You NEVER give credit! You always crash your bike too and I have to fix it! Good luck being a biker without a bike! Come on, Dwayne, let's get you to a veterinarian!" Gasket snarled, picking Dwayne up and starting to run over to her bike.
"Is Miss Momway okay?!" Dwayne murmured deliriously.
Hubcap rammed his bike into Gasket's parked motorcycle, sending it flying and damaging it to the point of not being able to be operated. "NO ONE LEAVES THE RUFF RUFF PACK! NO ONE!" The bulldog roared.
"WATER CANNONS!" A voice yelled out, and Hubcap was blasted with high powered pressurized streams of water.
A red race car with water cannons drove up and made a ramp for Gasket and Dwayne to climb up on. "Hurry! He won't be down for long! We gotta get you out of here and get your friend to a hospital!" The dalmatian yelled.
Without hesitation, Gasket carried Dwayne into the back of the red race car and buckled them herself and her brother up. Marshall blazed his vehicle through the desert, driving as fast as he possibly could to Katie's veterinary clinic.
Dwayne thankfully didn't get hurt too bad, just a sprained paw. Mayor Goodway and Gasket stood in Katie's clinic and looked over at the sleeping Dwayne. "I'm really sorry about what Hubcap put you through, Miss Bernadette." Gasket apologized.
"Oh, sweetheart, it's fine. And the name isn't Bernadette Badway. It's actually Genevieve Goodway." The woman answered.
"You're the mayor!? I never would have pegged you for a super epic biker!" Gasket gasped.
Katie came in and gave them an update. "So Dwayne has a sprained paw and a concussion, he'll need to stay here for the next few days." Katie told them. "Oh thank heavens it's nothing too serious!" The mayor sighed in relief.
Ryder bent down and talked to Gasket. "Gasket, if you're going to stay in Adventure Bay, you'll need to keep the chaos causing to a minimum. Especially if you want your bike to be rebuilt." Ryder spoke.
"Don't worry. I plan on taking it easy for the next few weeks. For once, I don't have to go ride on my bike from dusk till dawn with some short breaks in the day, and that means I can get back to my wheel passion: inventing!" Gasket excitedly said.
Ryder chuckled as he patted Gasket's head before turning to Mayor Goodway. Genevieve gave the seventeen year old boy that she saw as a surrogate son the tightest of hugs. "I miss you and the pups a lot, Ryder. Adventure Bay has been very quiet since you left. When will you be coming home?" Goodway asked.
"Soon, mom. Soon. Within a few days." Ryder promised. He missed the Bay Lookout and all of the wonderful people in his home town as well. He couldn't wait to come back for good.
So fun fact: Moto Patrol was originally supposed to be a full fledged adaptation with more than just two episodes. It was going to be a story arc fully set in Adventure City. However, I could not for the life of me figure out how to make the episodes work in that location. The city is really not fleshed out or detailed. We don't have any real locations there aside from the Lookout. Would it have killed them to put a restaurant in there, something different than dozens of skyscrapers? At least Builder Cove in the Rubble and Crew spinoff is more fleshed out.
So, I had to stuff Gasket's character arc and development into the span of two episodes/chapters, which was her decision to take Dwayne and leave the Ruff Ruff Pack behind. She's not joining the Paw Patrol, but she's going to be a civilian pup who happens to have a bike. She and her surrogate brother will be appearing sporadically throughout the series as assistants to Mayor Goodway, they're meant to help keep that scatterbrained woman under control and prevent the need for as many rescues as the show needs the Paw Patrol for.
PLEASE don't be upset that I didn't make her and Dwayne members: there are only so many professions and jobs that I can think of, and I couldn't figure out ones for those two that weren't already taken. They don't seem like the type to work on a full team anyways, they're more so free spirits. They won't be getting Mighty powers either.
