Season 4 Episode 3: Sea Patrol And Merpups Save the Turbots!
June 12th, 2030
Ryder, Chase, Marshall, Skye, Rocky, Rubble, Zuma, Everest, and Tracker were sleeping in the Sea Lookout. Ben had left to go and spend some time with the Adventure City team, which meant that Ryder was in charge of the pups and on his own. Tracker had suggested that they start sleeping in the Sea Patrol Lookout so that they could get to the beach quicker and start their lifeguard duties earlier in the day. The moon was shining yellow in the sky as Tracker woke up, his ears bristling as he heard the cries of something. Everest was grumbling as her eyes opened. "¿Eh? I hear something…" Tracker whispered to himself.
"What's going on, Tracker?" Everest groaned.
Tracker twitched his ears as he listened closely, catching the sound of a frantic cry coming from outside the Lookout. "¡Escucha! I hear someone or something yelping!" Tracker quietly told the husky.
"Yelping!? Like, for help!?" Everest asked worriedly, keeping her voice hushed.
The potcake nodded his head in response. "¡Si! They could be in trouble! Let's go investigate!" Tracker answered.
Everest hesitated before following her big eared friend into the elevator, and they exited the Sea Patrol Tower, running to the docks where Tracker heard splashing and the cries. However, they didn't see anyone there in the water. "Are you sure you didn't imagine it, or dream it?" Everest groggily said.
Tracker shook his head no. "¡De ninguna manera! I would never have imagined it! Look at the moon, too! It's all yellow and shiny, just like my great-grand-dog described the legend of the mystical mer-moon!" Tracker argued.
"The mermoon? I thought that was just an old pups tale! But Marshall once told me that he saw Skye as a merpup! I wanted to laugh at him, but Marshall's no liar. Jake, Ryder, and Ben are very adamant about telling the truth. One time, Ella told me that she lied about her twin brother Tuck stealing some pup treats, and Ben grounded her from dessert for a week! I doubt Marshall would want to risk a punishment like that! And he doesn't seem like the type to make stuff up." Everest mused.
"¡Derecha! Plus, Rocky told me about an adventure underneath the magical mermoon that he shared with Skye and Zuma, where the three of them gained fish tails and Zuma nearly drowned, so Rocky had to save him! Rocky would never make up something like that! Our teammates would never deceive us like that!" Tracker agreed. Suddenly, a merpup popped her head out of the water. "¡Dios mío! The legend is true! Everest, we're meeting a real live merpup! ¡Hola! ¡Me llamo Tracker! I am pleased to meet you! ¿Como estas?" Tracker gasped, greeting the merpup with a smile on his face.
"Hi! I'm Everest!" The purple canine greeted the aquatic dog.
To their astonishment, the merpup leapt out of the water and dragged Tracker by the collar into the bay, before doing the same with Everest! "¡Oi, oi, oi...! What was that for!?" Tracker sputtered as he paddled in the water.
"That's not very nice!" Everest protested.
The merpup pressed her nose to both Tracker and Everest's snouts, and they glowed before they felt their bottom legs and tails merge into a singular appendage. Looking down, Tracker's eyes widened as he saw his tail and legs had become a fish's tail! "¡Caray! We've become real live merpups! I feel like I'm flying through the ocean!" Tracker squealed as he swam through the ocean with ease. "Yeah, this is amazing!" Everest exclaimed.
Marshall yawned as he woke up. "That's weird. I thought I heard singing. Did you hear that, Tracker? Tracker!? Everest, what about you…? Uh-oh! They're both gone! RYDER!" The Dalmatian asked, before realizing that his friends were gone.
He quickly called Ryder, who was in the Sea Lookout control room practicing some sword fighting skills and techniques, using some videos that Jayden had sent Ben as a tutorial. The video was interrupted by Marshall's video feed. "Marshall? What's going on?" Ryder inquired, concerned at the worried expression on his fire pup's face.
"Tracker and Everest have disappeared!" Marshall cried out.
The other pups were awake by this point, and they were all looking anxious about their missing teammates. "Don't worry everyone! As long as they have their pup tags on, I should be able to find them." Ryder reassured the six pups. He was suddenly glad that Ben wasn't around this evening, because the eighteen year old would be in full on panic mode. Pulling up the map, he saw that Tracker and Everest's pup tag locators showed them to be in the middle of the bay. "What in the… that can't be right, can it? The map says that Tracker and Everest are in the middle of the bay!" Ryder shouted. The leader of the Paw Patrol then started to try and contact the two of them. "Tracker, Everest! Do you read me? Tracker, Everest! Come in!" Ryder radioed them.
Thankfully, the screen popped up, and to Ryder's shock, Everest and Tracker were merpups! "¡Hola, Ryder! Look at us!" Tracker greeted them.
"We've become Merpups!" Everest giggled.
The mother merpup that they had helped with saving her trapped baby was there too, and she looked worried. She pulled Tracker and Everest away, and the signal cut out. "Everest!? EVEREST!" Marshall fretted.
Chase put a reassuring paw on his dalmatian brother's head. "Don't worry Marshall! They just went out of the signal's range. They're fine!" Chase comforted his fire pup brother.
"For now… but what about when the mer-moon goes down?" Marshall anxiously pointed out.
There was an audible silence that set in before Zuma started to panic. "THEY'LL DROWN!" The chocolate labrador screamed.
"Oh no!" Skye wailed.
She knew firstpaw that Zuma was right. Her lungs had started to burn as the merpup magic that gave her the ability to breathe underwater faded, and she had been forced to swim up to the surface of the ocean in Zuma's time of need. The six pups started to chatter nervously and fearfully before Ryder stomped his foot on the ground, drawing their attention. "Enough worrying about what might happen! We're going to save Tracker and Everest, but we also have to figure out what the mother merpup wants with them! The only time that merpups turn regular pups into their kind is when someone is in trouble. That means the mama merpup must need their help!" Ryder insisted.
"Okay, Ryder. What do we do?" Rubble inquired.
Ryder looked at the Sea Patrol closet, where all of their pup packs and outfits were stored. "It's too dark for us to safely navigate with the Sea Patroller. Zuma, take Rocky with you in your Sea Patrol submarine. Chase, Rubble, Marshall, Skye, you're going to be going with me in our other new vehicle." Ryder commanded.
Skye exchanged a confused look with her boyfriend. "We have another new vehicle, aside from our new specialized water vehicles?" Skye wondered.
Ryder nodded his head, taking the four pups to the deployment station. "I present to you, the Sub Patroller! A mobile underwater command center that allows you to deploy if needed. It'll let us move through the ocean's depths at quick speeds." Ryder explained.
"Cool!" Rubble exclaimed.
Rocky and Zuma shared a few licks before they got into Zuma's sub, and the rest of the Paw Patrol went into the Sub Patroller. Both of them dove down into the depths of the ocean, and propelled themselves through the dark blue sea. "Is that… Everest!?" Captain Turbot gasped as he saw the Siberian husky turned Merpup.
Then, her potcake companion swam into view of the diving bell's window. "Non, it is Tracker, c'est oui, cousin!" Francois cried out.
Everest and Tracker waved the two trapped sailors hello, before looking at the mother merpup. "So that's why she turned us into merpups! She wants our help saving Captain Turbot and his cousin!" Everest exclaimed. "¡Entonces vamos! What are we waiting for?! The four of us should be able to get them free!" Tracker suggested.
Together, the four canines attempted to lift the pink mass that was pinning down the diving bell, but they couldn't make it budge. Tracker went up to see what was sitting on top of the bell, and saw that it was a snoring sea slug. He nearly ended up getting sucked inside of the sea slug due to its breathing! Thankfully, the sea slug spat him back out, and the potcake landed on Zuma's sub. "Duuude, nice tail! Looks kinda like Wocky when he had a merpup tail, except less green, and a bit more red. No offense though, but Wocky's tail was pwettier." Zuma commented.
"¡Gracias, Zuma! And no offense taken. Good thing you came along, amigos, because the Turbots have gotten themselves super stuck! A sea slug is sleeping on top of their diving bell!" Tracker told the chocolate labrador and his mixed breed mate.
"Oh no! Wait, you said there was a sea slug on top of the diving bell?" Zuma replied. Tracker nodded his head in response, and Zuma started to get an idea. "Ryder, does the Sub Patroller have an arm?" Zuma radioed his owner.
"Yeah, it does. Why do you ask?" Ryder replied.
"I got an idea. Sea slugs are really ticklish, so if we tickle him enough, we'll wake him up and drive him away!" Zuma answered, giving an explanation.
Ryder smiled at that idea. "Great plan, Zuma! I'll activate the Sub Patroller's grabbing arms now." Ryder said, and the arms extended before they started to gently prod and tickle the sea slug.
The creature woke up and swam away, giggling to itself as it moved through the ocean water. Rocky peered at the diving bell, and whimpered as he saw the damaged handle. "The eyelet is broken, we won't be able to lift it up by the handle!" Rocky exclaimed.
"But Rocky, you're one of the smartest pups ever! Can't you fix it?" Skye pointed out.
Rocky thought about it and his head bobbed up and down. "What am I saying? Of course we can lift it up by the handle, we just have to fix it first!" Rocky earnestly said. The grey pup activated his scuba gear and exited Zuma's sub, swimming down to the diving bell. To his surprise, the scuba gear he was wearing completely shielded him from getting wet! "Not a drop of water got on me! Ryder, this scuba gear rocks!" Rocky cheered.
Swimming down, he got out the blowtorch in his pup pack and welded the diving bell's eyelet back into its proper position, allowing the Sea Patroller to grab the Turbot's submarine and take it back to shore. "Everest, Tracker, come on." Ryder insisted.
"Aww, okay." Everest pouted.
The group brought the diving bell back to the beach, and Zuma's sub as well as the Sub Patroller returned to the Sea Patroller before Ryder, Chase, Skye, Marshall, Zuma, Rocky, and Rubble went to see the merpup Everest and Tracker, as well as the mother merpup and her baby. Zuma parked his vehicle on the beach, which was now in land mode. "Ryder, can we go play with the merpups? Pleeeeease?" Skye begged.
Ryder chuckled at the childlike innocence of Skye's voice. For all of the risky work they did and putting their lives on the line, the pups were still children deep down at their core. "Of course, Skye. You've all earned the right to go play with the merpups." Ryder answered. All six of the main pups cheered before going into the water, booping snouts with the mother merpup and transforming into the fish-tailed canines. "Just make sure to not go too far from the ocean surface!" Ryder called out after his pups.
"We will, don't worry dude!" Zuma promised.
Watching the pups splash around in the sea with their mystical, mythical friend made Ryder feel at peace. "What a bunch of good pups…" Ryder sighed happily.
