Season 4 Episode 5: Sea Patrol Saves A Frozen Flounder!

June 15th, 2030

It was a very warm summer day, and the pups were taking it easy. Everest and Marshall were sitting underneath an umbrella to stay cool in the shade. "Hey Marshall, when's our next date going to be?" Everest asked.

Marshall blushed as they started to talk about their next excursion. "Oh, uh, I have no idea! Since you're living at the Lookout with us for now, and I usually plan our dates, why don't you pick out when our next date is, and the activities for it?" Marshall quickly suggested.

Everest's eyes lit up. Her boyfriend was asking her to pick out the day for their date, and the activities!? This was going to be pawsome! "I love that, Marshall! Thanks! That's very considerate of you!" Everest chuckled, giving the dalmatian an affectionate slurp.

"Well, your feelings are important, you know! What kind of pup friend would I be if I didn't take them into consideration? …Plus, I'm not the best at coming up with ideas." Marshall replied, blushing at the memory of one of their previous hangouts.

They had tried to make pup burgers together…and it had NOT ended well. They had gotten covered in ketchup and mustard from Marshall's cannons that had been filled with the condiments, and Ben had to give them a big bath. "Yeah, we smelled like ketchup for days!" Everest giggled, on the same wavelength as Marshall.

He couldn't help but turn bright red. "A-are you psychic or something, Evvie?" Marshall stammered.

The husky grinned at him in response. "Nah, I just know you really well." Everest smugly responded.

Ryder, meanwhile, was playing with Tracker, giving him lots of belly rubs and chin scratches. When he had one on one time with a pup, he liked to shower them with praise. "Who's a good pup? You are! Yes you are Tracker! Aren't you just the cutest potcake ever? Yes you are!" Ryder complemented, rubbing his hands all across the potcake's stomach.

"¡Si, señor Ryder! ¡Soy un buen cachorro!" Tracker squealed, his tongue lolled out and his paws flailing in the air happily.

The Spanish canine was in puppy heaven right now.

Unfortunately, their play session was cut short by a call on Ryder's pup pad from Captain Turbot. The spiky haired teenager had hooked his pup pad up to a gauntlet and now wore it on his wrist so he could answer it at a moment's notice. "Aww, sorry Tracker. I gotta take this." Ryder apologized.

"¡No problemo! I don't mind at all!" Tracker answered earnestly.

Ryder nodded his head before answering the call. "Hey Captain Turbot. Where are you calling from?" Ryder inquired.

"All the way from the Arctic, but if we don't get some help soon, we'll be part of the Arctic! We're frozen in!" Horatio urgently said.

"We're stuck!" Francois yelped.

"Don't worry, the Sea Patrol is on its way! No job is too icy, no pup is too small!" Ryder reassured them before summoning the rest of the pups. "Sea Patrol, to the beach tower!" Ryder's voice rang out over the pup tags.

Everest and Marshall stood up from their spot in the shade of the umbrella and looked at each other. "Ryder needs us!" The two of them exclaimed together, before running to the Beach Lookout.

As they ran across the sand, they were joined by Rocky, Zuma, Skye, Rubble, and Chase. Getting into the elevator, they were dressed by the mechanical arms and taken to the control room of the Sea Patroller, where they all lined up in front of Ryder. "Sea Patrol ready for action, Captain Ryder sir!" Chase and Skye exclaimed together.

"Woah, we're wearing different gear than usual! Aren't we dressed a little warm for this weather? Forecast for the week says we'll be getting warm weather for weeks, if not months!" Rubble commented.

They were all dressed in winter caps, and Tracker had socks on his ears. "My ears are covered! Good thing my hearing is super keen." Tracker sighed.

"You're wearing your winter caps and gear because our emergency isn't in Adventure Bay today. We're heading to the Arctic! We have a lifeguard ice emergency, pups. The Flounder has been frozen in very thick ice, and we have to free it! For this mission I'll need the following pups… Rubble, I'll need you to use your underwater drill to carefully cut the ice around the Flounder, but you can't get too close or you could damage the ship. That's why Rocky will be helping you out by using his underwater welder to melt away any ice around the Flounder that Rubble's drill can't reach. Everest, as our Arctic and frozen environment expert, you'll be on captain duty with Zuma." Ryder instructed.

"Ice or snow, I'm ready to go!" Everest cheered.

"Green means go!" Rocky roared.

"Rubble on the aqua double!" The bulldog barked.

"Sea Patrol, sail to the rescue!" Ryder declared as the Sea Patroller launched.

Calling up Jack, he had the Adventure City scientist team groundbridge them to the Arctic Ocean. Soon, they found the Flounder, which was completely surrounded by ice. Tracker started to shiver from the sheer cold. He wasn't used to such extreme frozen temperatures, and his teeth started to chatter. "¡Congelación! T-too cold! ¡Oi, oi, oi...!" Tracker cried out.

Marshall noted the potcake's adverse reaction to the sudden rapid change of temperature. "We'd better get him into the captain's room! Get him a blanket, we gotta keep him from going into thermal shock! Get him lots of water!" Marshall yelled.

Chase nodded and helped him bring Tracker to the control room, where the temperature was regulated to a cool but not too hot one. "Muchas gracias, amigos…" Tracker moaned.

"Keep an eye out for icebergs!" Everest shouted.

"Icebergs? Like the one that sank the Titanic?" Marshall asked.

They had watched that movie together with Jake on one of their dates. "Yup! We have to stay clear. Icebergs are much bigger below the water than we can see above the water. Zuma, I'll take over commandeering the ship, we need you and your sub in the water to get an idea of how big the iceberg is!" Everest quickly said.

"All right, let's dive in!" Zuma howled, going to get in his sub and diving beneath the ocean's surface. He was able to find that the iceberg was massive underwater. "Everest, Robo-Dog, turn left now!" Zuma commanded. A steep left from Everest at the controls, followed by a hard turn to starboard in order to avoid a second iceberg.

They started coming up on the Flounder, and Everest had to brake so they wouldn'tt crash into the ice sheet that was encasing the Flounder. "Good call, Everest! That ice could have damaged our hull, and then we'd be in real trouble. Captain Turbot, you okay?" Ryder asked.

"Thanks for coming, Ryder! It's getting so cold up here." The sailor sighed.

"Rubble, get drilling." Ryder ordered.

The bulldog nodded and got in his construction submarine, going under the water and regrouping with Zuma. "Kinda dark down here…" Rubble remarked.

"Don't worry, I got you covered dude! Arf! Underwater spotlight!" Zuma exclaimed, activating his sub's front lights to illuminate the dark water that the ice was covering.

Rubble giggled as he started to drill a few holes into the ice sheet that the Flounder was trapped in, but he realized quickly that he wouldn't be able to get any closer without risking his drill puncturing or damaging the Turbots' ship in some way.

"I can't get any closer without potentially putting a hole in the ship!" Rubble radioed the rest of the team.

"Then it's time to tag out. Rocky, your turn!" Ryder replied.

"As long as my scuba stuff is keeping me dry, I'm ready!" Rocky enthusiastically said, before hopping into the sea with his scuba gear on and swimming over to Zuma.

The chocolate labrador gave his boyfriend a wave before the mixed breed started to use the welding torch in his pup pack to melt through the ice, connecting the lines to the holes that Rubble had drilled. Soon, the Flounder was free. "Thanks a ton, Everest! Now we can use the ice breakers on the Sea Patroller to break through the rest of the ice!" Ryder cheered.

Managing to clear a path in the ice sheet to the Flounder, they discovered that the Turbots' sailing vessel had its engine frozen, meaning they couldn't move it. "Well, this isn't good at all. I'm afraid the Flounder's engine has been frozen." Captain Turbot sighed.

"If they don't move soon, the water will turn to ice again. If you need an extra set of paws, I'm here!" Everest determinedly said.

Ryder thought about their current situation. They would need someone to scout ahead for icebergs… "Thanks for asking, Everest. Right now, I need all the underwater vehicles to move the Flounder out, and fast! We're also gonna need someone else underwater to help us steer clear of the icebergs. Everest, how would you like to get wet with some underwater gear?" Ryder offered.

Everest's eyes sparkled. "I get to help!? YES! I won't let you down, Ryder!" Everest promised.

Ryder quickly dressed her in scuba gear. "This gear comes with a turbo board to propel yourself through the water, it's just like your rocket powered snowboard." Ryder instructed.

"Turbo board!" Everest yelled, before the board deployed, and she leapt into the water. Surfing through the undersea depths, she guided the Flounder and the Sea Patroller back to Adventure Bay over the course of the next two hours. Their Sea Patrol vehicles could go pretty fast, and that allowed them to get the Flounder back to Adventure Bay in a good time. Everest sighed as she emerged from the water and returned to the Sea Patroller. "Phew, I'm exhausted! And I'm done with swimming for a while now. Marshall, how about we just laze around tonight and watch Frozen?" Everest asked.

Marshall giggled. "Sure, I don't think I've seen that before!" Marshall exclaimed.
