a/n: Where will Hope sleep, is the question.

Editing? A smidge, as a treat.

They sat quietly, cross legged and surrounded by food packaging. Hope looked up from the last bite of her ice cream and noticed Quincy nodding over an empty wrapper. He seemed to be struggling to keep his eyes open.

"Time to get you back in bed," she announced. Hopping off the comfortable mattress required an iron will, because her exhaustion was making itself clear now that her stomach wasn't demanding all of her attention. She scooped up the sandwich bags and slightly sticky Ma-non ice cream papers, jamming them together into a tight ball. She'd pop them into the recycling chute on her way to wherever she ended up spending the night.

Quincy took a little nudging to get back under the covers. He had to pause every other second to yawn his head off, or stretch, or just look at the pillows as if he'd never seen them before. Which, in a sense, he hadn't. But he wasn't resistant, just curious and sleepy and awkward. He finally stretched out, wriggled a little and closed his eyes. Hope tucked him in and straightened up.

He snapped upright. "My shirt. I need to take it off."

"No, no. The bed works fine through clothing, even armor," she soothed him.

"The Nagi guy, he said..." Quincy was already squirming his way out of his shirt, rolling his shoulders to get it over his head. "He sounded like it was life or death. Kind of scary now that I can pay attention." Quincy flopped down with a sigh, tugging the blanket upward.

Hope snagged the shirt from the bed and draped it over the desk chair. She stood there, a bundle of trash in her hands, ready to say good night. She was interrupted by a majestic yawn, this time from herself.

Quincy jack-knifed up again. Stuffed animals bounced in response, several scattering off the bed. "Where will you sleep?" When Hope hesitated before answering, he tilted his head, the same as when he had tried to puzzle out the meaning of her terrible puns. Then he smiled, slithered down once more, and squirmed close to the wall. He wriggled a little further, so that he was almost buried in the remaining stuffies.

It was exaggerated and ridiculous and Hope had to laugh. "You're right."

"I didn't say a thing."

She snorted. "We've spent the last week sharing a sleep area only a little bigger than this. I'll be back in a bit."

a/n: It will either be very short chapters or no chapters at all for the forseeable future. So go go go short chapters!

Next up: Hey, why is the bed so big anyway?
