Everyone in Oceanside gathered on the beach as the final rays of the sun disappeared from view, and they knew that it was time for the ceremony.
A 16-year-old boy was already near the water's surface as he was the human that would be serving the mermaid's royal family this time, and his parents couldn't be any prouder as they boasted about their child being chosen since he bared the mark of the mermaids.
Captain Gordan had some people go get Saphira for the ceremony while also warning them to be careful just in case the young girl tried anything to which he had been right as all the people heard a crash coming from the ceremonial beach house as well as screaming.
Those who had helped Saphira watched as she was dragged outside before having her wrists tied up to two wooden poles. "We would've been nicer if you had just cooperated with us." One of the men said as he shook his head while the others were still saddened by these events.
The boy looked at Saphira and knew just how badly she wanted to escape before it was too late since he'd known her for months, but he was unable to do anything lest he be beaten for trying to get the whole city of Oceanside wiped out.
Everyone knew that the reason why the krakens hadn't participated in the ceremony before was because Saphira was literally the first human in history to bare their mark while anyone else just ended up baring the mark of the mermaids for centuries.
That's why it's important that Saphira be given to the kraken's royal family since the humans were worried that they would wipe out their city using the trident just like the mermaids had tried to do before the krakens stopped them and both underwater species took human servants after making peace.
Even with that explanation Saphira had her own reasons for not wanting to serve the krakens which is why she was currently trying to get free of her restrains before she stopped as the water's surface began to bubble while also glowing with different colors due to the bioluminescence of the algae.
That's when the water's surface exploded and out came Queen Nerissa along with Princess Chelsea of the mermaids. "We are here for our human." Queen Nerissa's voice echoed, everyone cheered at the sight of both the mermaid Queen and Princess.
Chelsea rolled her eyes at her mother's display before landing on Saphira who was shaking in fear. "Why're there two of you when we only need one of you?" Chelsea asked the human boy, her mother heard the question and turned to Saphira with a look of surprise.
"That girl is to serve the krakens, Princess Chelsea." The boy answered honestly, hearing the news of a human that bared the mark of the krakens shocked Chelsea but fascinated Queen Nerissa as she looked at Saphira with a calculating look in her eyes and the only one to notice was Chelsea.
"Where is the Queen of the krakens?" Captain Gordan asked politely, before the Queen or Princess could answer, the water's surface bubbled again before an aquamarine skinned, blue tentacle haired kraken with a 'beard' appeared wearing an orange and white shirt that had pink fish and purple waves on it, blue shorts with a belt, and sandals with socks underneath.
"Who's this kraken supposed to be?" Saphira thought in confusion, all the humans were wondering who this kraken is while only Nerissa and Chelsea knew him. "Brill? What're you doing here?" Chelsea asked in confusion, she knew that the humans had been expecting the Queen to come.
"Queen Nerissa and Princess Chelsea! What a pleasant surprise!" Brill replied pleasantly, he hugged both of them in a polite, but friendly manner. "As for why I'm here, well I'm here for the human girl." Brill answered happily, the humans were now very confused.
"But what of your mother?" Queen Nerissa asked genuinely confused, she knew that Brill's mother was to come and retrieve the human servant in order to evaluate her just in case the human wasn't worth the effort of having her as the royal family's servant.
"She's busy getting things ready for our human." Brill answered cheerfully, while Nerissa was satisfied with the answer the humans were slightly disappointed as they had wanted to see the Queen of the krakens in all her glory, but no one dared to complain.
With that out of the way, the ceremony continued with Nerissa and Brill giving their respective humans a potion that would allow them to breath underwater while making it so the weight wouldn't crush them under the pressure of the ocean.
Chelsea noted that someone had to hold Saphira still since she didn't want to drink the potion. "Enough of that!" Captain Gordan shouted as he slapped Saphira across the face, seeing that made Brill and Chelsea gasp in worry for the young human girl.
"You'll have to watch her, Saphira's a fighter." Captain Gordan warned Brill, he nodded while untying Saphira's wrists. "It is time for us to leave." Queen Nerissa told her daughter, they left with their new servant while Brill gently grasped Saphira's hand.
Once under the water, Brill changed back so it would be easier to swim to the kingdom. "Ready to go?" Brill asked Saphira, she said not a word while nodding in reply. "Let's go home." Brill softly commanded, they swam off into the water until they started to reach the twilight zone.
As it got darker, Saphira's vision was soon filled with more bioluminescent lights that were coming from the kingdom of the krakens and that's when she realized that krakens could make their own bodies bioluminescent and wondered if that's how they got food.
As Brill and Saphira got closer to the kingdom, the krakens could see them coming as they smiled at Saphira with the biggest smiles that anyone had ever given her, and that made Saphira nervous since she wasn't sure if they were genuinely happy or if they were plotting something.
Krakens of different ages crowded around trying to get a better look at Saphira, which was causing her start to panic. "Back up! Give the girl some room!" Brill chided his fellow krakens; they did as they were told since they could tell Saphira didn't like being surrounded.
Brill understood everyone's excitement, but they needed to let the young human adjust to her new surroundings first. "Now, I'm going to take you to see my family then we'll go from there." Brill told Saphira gently, he didn't want to startle her more than she already was.
Saphira nodded again response as she didn't trust her own voice and followed Brill inside the open water castle. "Just wait here, and I'll be right back." Brill said as he left to get the rest of his family while feeling worried about leaving Saphira alone.
Now that Saphira was on her own for a little bit, she felt like she could finally breath again. "I guess I've lost after all." Saphira said sadly, she still couldn't believe that she'd lost the fight against fate and her fellow humans who had sacrificed her all for the sake of their city.
Saphira had hoped her allies would free her, but they too had been afraid of losing their homes if the krakens didn't get their tentacles on a human servant, and now here she was alone, scared, above all lost on how to feel now that she realized no one would help her.
In her head, Saphira heard more music began to play and she didn't ignore the sad melody that was now playing in her mind, so she gave up then chose to sing before the krakens came into the room if they chose to kill her instead of keeping with them.

[Saphira]
(Music)
Here comes a wave meant to wash me away,
A tide that is taken' me under.
Swallowing sand, left with nothing to say,
My voice drowned out in the thunder.
But I won't cry,
And I won't start to crumble.
Whenever they try,
To shut me or cut me down,
I won't be silenced.
You can't keep me quiet.
Won't tremble when you try it.
All I know is I won't go speechless.
'Cause I'll breath,
When they try to suffocate me.
Don'tchu underestimate me,
'Cause I know that I won't go speechless.
(Music)
Written in stone ev'ry rule, ev'ry word,
Centuries old and unbending.
"Stay in your place, better seen and not heard."
We'll, now that story is ending.
'Cause I,
I cannot start to crumble.
So come on and try,
Try to shut me and cut me down.
I won't be silenced.
You can't keep me quiet.
Won't tremble when you try it.
All I know is I won't go speechless,
Speechless!
Let the storm in.
I cannot be broken.
No, I won't live unspoken,
'Cause I know that I won't go speechless.
(Music)
Try to lock me in this cage,
I won't just lay me down and die.
I will take these broken wings,
And watch me burn across the sky.
Hear the echo saying,
"I won't be silenced."
Though you wanna see me,
Tremble when you try it.
All I know is I won't go speechless,
Speechless!
'Cause I'll breath,
When they try to suffocate me.
Don'tchu underestimate me,
'Cause I know I that I won't go speechless.
All I know is I won't go speechless,
Speechless!
(Music fades out)
After the last of the music had faded from Saphira's mind, she heard clapping coming from behind her, so she whirled around only to have to look up to see the one and only Princess of the krakens floating right in front of her along with who she assumed was the prince.
"That was amazing!" Princess Ruby said with a smile, her little brother smiled as he clapped. "You've got a good voice, for a human of course." Prince Sam added with a smirk, Ruby gently nudged him, so he'd be nice to their new and first human.
Saphira was stunned into shock as the princess and prince began to argue, evidently, the two of them had come into the room when she had first started singing, and because Saphira had been lost in the music, she hadn't sensed their presence at all.
"Alright, kids. That's enough arguing." The Queen said as she, her daughter princess Agatha, her son prince Brill and son-in-law Arthur came into the room. "Sorry Grandmamah." Ruby and Sam responded in shame as they had been scolded.
Saphira realized that she was now surrounded by the royal family, and if she wasn't afraid of them before well, she is afraid of how big Grandmamah, Agatha and Ruby were since they could crush her with a single fist if that's what they intended to do to her.
"Now, let's get a look at our new human." Arthur said with a smile, he got super close to Saphira in order to examine her, but that caused her to start panicking again, which Brill noticed since Saphira began to feel like she couldn't breathe without looking like she was going to drown.
"You might not want to get so close into her-" Brill started to say, but since his brother-in-law didn't listen, he ended making Saphira faint. "-personal space." Brill finished saying with a face-palm, before he caught Saphira in his arms.
"What just happened?" Ruby asked in concern for Saphira, Brill was the only one who knew what had happened prior to getting the young human so he told his family what he'd seen on the surface, and let's just say that his family wasn't happy.
"How could they do that to one of their own?" Agatha asked in disbelief, her mother sighed unhappily. "Some humans are cruel, even to their own kind darling." Grandmamah answered her daughter's question, they all looked at the unconscious human girl.
"We should let her rest in the room we had made for her." Ruby suggested, the rest of her family agreed, so they had Brill place Saphira in her new bed which was made from a giant shell with a kelp blanket that was tucked around her shoulders to keep her warm.
Once Saphira awoke again, the royal family would introduce her to the rest of the kingdom so everyone could celebrate the fact that they finally had a way of getting to know more about humans since they didn't know much about them or the surface world.
New chapter done! I'd like to thank ReptileEdge and MarioDS01 for being my first reviewers, and I don't own the song in this chapter.
To MarioDS01, I will watch the movie when it comes out on DVD, and I hope you're okay with me using your idea of making Chelsea a trouble teen in my story.
ReptileEdge, I hope you like the second chapter as well as the first one, so please review you guys, but no flames!
