(It was afternoon)
Laventon: Wonderful stuff, Beni! Much obliged. Your potato mochi never fail to please!
Linka: (to Beni) Glad you finally allowed me to eat your food. I should suggest my family to add this to our menu.
Rei: Where'd you find this stranger in the first place, Professor?
Laventon: Ah, well, you know of that great hole in the sky? The one people call the space-time rift? Our new friend fell right out of it!
Rei: ...Was that a joke?
Laventon: Come now—I am a scientist! My job is to observe and explain any and all phenomena. I concern myself only with facts! (turns toward Linka.) Now, you already know there are many Pokémon here in the Hisui region...
Rei: Sure, they're all over the place. In the grass, in the forests, in the ocean... It's up to us in the Survey Corps to study them and figure out what kind of creatures they are.
Laventon: Well, we know this much... Pokémon are terrifying creatures! It's all but impossible to know what kinds of powers they might possess or what sorts of wondrous things they can do! But that's where Linka will come in! (Sees Linka eating Potato mochi) She successfully caught three Pokémon! Three of them in quick order, you understand! Nobody in the Galaxy Team is capable of a feat such as that. This means we can finally begin our Pokémon research in earnest!
Rei: That's really something. We count ourselves lucky when we manage to catch a single wild Pokémon while fending off their attacks...
Laventon: Ah, well, to be perfectly fair, the Pokémon that fled to the beach weren't on the attack. But the key to catching Pokémon is getting close enough to aim your Poké Ball well. And it seems our new friend is fearless enough to do just that!
Rei: So Linka, tell us more about your brothers.
Linka: (Swallows mochi) Oh, Well let's start with the older brothers. Loki's the oldest, he texts a lot and is good at golf. Then there's Loni, he's a bit of a dimwit, but he's good at fashion.
Rei: Texts?
Linka: (Pulls out her arc phone.) You know this thing? Loki has one, but it's simpler in design. You press these buttons here and write meassages to others and that's how you text.
Laventon: Fascinating!
Linka: Continuing on, Luke is a musician, he's about as old as you Rei and plays with the guitar. Lane's a comedian who plays pranks and tells jokes. Lynn is into sports. I've mentioned him to Laventon earlier, but my throwing skills are thanks to him.
Laventon: I bet he would be a great addition to our corps. We could use another member who can throw just as great as you can.
Linka: (Sheepish laugh) Yeah, he would. Now for the younger brothers. (Eats another mochi with her mouth full) Lars is a goth, a person who like dark stuff and writes poetry. (Swallows food.) Then there's the twins, Leif and Lexx. Leif likes mud, animals, and is good with engineering. While Lexx dresses like a prince, likes tea parties, and takes part in beauty pageants.
Laventon: What are animals?
Linka: (Supprised.) You don't have animals in your world? Those three pokemon I caught look like some. Maybe if you visit my world I can show you them, but long story short that's what we have instead of pokemon.
Rei: And these beauty pageants...what are they?
Linka: Oh! They're contests in which contestants perform beautiful performances to try to score the most points.
Rei: (Thinking while grabbing a mochi) You know if we were to be able to tame pokemon, maybe we could hold some sort of special beauty pageants with them. Who knows, maybe they'll even be popular in Hisui.
Linka: Yeah, Lexx would love that. Moving on. Levi is a scientist just like you Laventon. (While eating) While he doesn't study pokemon he does study other things such as poop. He also invent things sometimes.
Rei: Eewww...why would he study poop?
Linka: It's hard to explain, but poop contains little organisms called bacteria. He likes studying different kinds of them.
Laventon: Well, if you find him, could you bring him over to the team? I could use an assistant with my work.
Linka: Of course! Finally we have Leon, the youngest of the siblings. There's not much about him, but he's a very cute baby.
Laventon: My goodenss! Not only is your family large but is also quite diverse too!
Rei: Yeah, it's not every day we see someone just like you. Speaking of which, what about you?
Linka: (With her mouth full) Well, I like to think of myself as just a normal girl. (Stuffs another mochi in her mouth) but I like reading comic books and video games.
Rei: What are those?
Linka: (Swallows food and grabs another mochi) Well, comics are like books with pictures where the characters have these white bubbles where what they say is written. And Video games are electronic games that you can control and play with friend. I won't go too much detail on that though.
Rei: Wow, your world is filled with a kind of things we never heard of!
Beni: Does the Survey Corps really have the leeway to be enjoying a leisurely meal with this outsider? Your captain just ordered 10 whole portions of potato mochi, you know. The slow progress on that Pokédex of yours clearly has her on edge.
Laventon: I'm sure we'll start to rein in the good captain's stress eating soon enough. Now, have your fill, Linka! And think! If you make it into the Galaxy Team, you'll never have to worry about a meal again. The team provides for all its members' needs— even if said members fell out of the sky!
(After the group finish their meal, it was nighttime.)
Laventon: That was quite delicious! Quite delicious indeed!
Rei: You're awfully relaxed about all this. You do know that we won't get to have Linka join the Survey Corps unless she passes a trial?
Laventon: Not to worry! I have complete confidence in Linka's skills.
Cyllene: Let's hope it is not misplaced. Linka, was it? For tonight, at least, we will provide you with a place to sleep. You may use our quarters there.
Linka: Great! I'm tuckered out.
Cyllene: But if you fail to pass the trial, we put you to tomorrow, you must move on. You will be expelled from the village to meet your fate— and perhaps your death— in the wilds.
Rei: Captain Cyllene's like Hisui, in a way—they're both plenty harsh.
Laventon: Now now, she simply puts on a stern front to help keep us all safe. At any rate, I think it's time we turned in for the night, eh? It's a good thing one can't fall out of the futons we sleep in here—I imagine our new friend has had enough falling for one day! And with that, I bid you both a good night!
(Laventon leaves)
Rei: Yeah, sleep tight!
Linka: Yeah, goodnight.
(As Linka leaves to her new bed, Rei looks up at a portal in the sky.)
Rei: Still...people falling from the sky? That's some kind of story.
(Linka enters her new dorm)
Linka: Well it's much larger than my room back home. (sees a futon.) I guess they couldn't give me a bed. Oh well, better than nothing. (Slips into futon) It's too bad Bun-bun isn't here either, I just hope she's safe back in my world. *Yarn.* Welp, time to catch some Zs. (She falls asleep.)
(Outside a mysterious lightning bolt forms from the sky and strikes someone somewhere far away.)
(The next morning Linka wakes up)
Linka: Boy, that was a good sleep. Welp, better get started on my training.
Rei: Hey in there! You awake? That was some wild lightning last night, right?
Linka: It didn't seem like some usual lightning storm.
Rei: Anyway, if you're up, come on out!
(Linka opens the door)
Rei: Did you sleep all right? I know that's not easy in a strange new land.
Linka: Yeah, I guess.
Rei: Oh yeah, there's a package for you. (Hands Linka a package with a note.)
Linka: (Opens package reveling two earplugs inside, then reads note) "Linka, If my calculations are correct and you received this package, then you most likely encountered these unusual creatures. You better be prepared as most of these "Pokemon" as the folk call them are hostile with Homo Sapiens. I invented these translator earplugs to help you understand their language. Leon and I were transported to a snowy area and are given shelter by the Pearl Clan. If you can find the rest of our siblings in Hisui, please gather them together so that we can all be transported back to Royal Woods. -Your second youngest sibling, Levi." (Puts earplugs in her ears.)
Rei: I'm glad that two of your brothers are safe for now. We'd better not keep Captain Cyllene waiting. Let's hurry to headquarters!
(The two walked off toward the headquarters.)
