(The group is back at the Obsidian fieldlands. Laventon was telling Linka how to fill in the pokedex while Rei was teaching her a dodge roll.))
Rei: (Showing Linka how to dodge.) See? That's how you dodge!
Linka: Cool. Lynn didn't take part of gymnastics to say the least, but I'm glad I'm learning.
Rei: Alright then follow me.
(They went to Aspiration Hill.)
Rei: You've caught a Bidoof before, but you need to catch three more.
Linka: Another one?
Rei: That's right—catching just one won't do it. You've got to get two, then four...then more and more!
Linka: O.K., (She throws a pokeball, but it was too far, she threw another, but it wasn't far enough. She threw one more and it caught Bidoof. She caught two more)
Rei: Alright! Let's catch Starly next! (Link hid underneath the grass, interestingly enough, she caught the same Starly that flew away on her first try.)
(Rei and Linka go to the Horseshoe Plains next. There they find an orange weasel with blue fins on its front paws, two tails, and a yellow ring around its neck.)
Rei: "Around here, you can find a Pokémon called Buizel. It's got an aggressive disposition. That means it'll try to hit you with its moves, just like Shinx, and you'll need to battle it to catch it.
Linka: Got it! (She approaches Buizel.)
Buizel: Intruder! (Attacks Linka with Swift, but Linka dodges it.)
Linka: O.K. Time to bring out Quilli to the fight! Wait, where's her pokeball. (Linka searches for a Quilli's pokeball but is hit by a Swift attack.)
Rei: Linka!
Buizel: That teach you for invading my turf.
Linka: (Get back up) Don't worry I'm fine. Alright, go whoever you are! (Sends out Quilli.) Use Ember! (Quilli shoots fire at Buizel. But it doesn't seem to be taking much damage.)
Buizel: Ha! Is that all you got?
Linka: Huh? No matter, Quilli, Ember again! (Quilli shot more fire at Buizel. This time it was getting weaker.) Alright, pokeball go! (Captures Buizel.) Whew. That was rough. But why didn't my attack do as much damage though?
Rei: Are you OK. Linka? I forgot to mention that, Buizel is a water-type, meaning that it resists fire-type attacks such as Ember.
Linka: A Water-type?
Rei: Yeah, there's 18 types in total. Some pokemon have one type, while others have two. (Pulls out a chart) Here's a list of pokemon type effectiveness. (Linka reads the chart about which types are super effective, not very effective, have no effect, and does regular damage.)
Linka: Alright. Got it. Oh! I'll name the Buizel, Zelbui.
(Linka and Rei then head to a group of trees.)
Rei: You're doing pretty well for a mystery stranger from the sky. (Pulls out a portable crafting kit) Here! A little reward for keeping up with me: your own Crafting Kit! (Gives it to Linka) And here's a recipe for Potions, too.
Linka: Wow. This will save me money at the store.
Rei: With a Crafting Kit, you can craft items anywhere using whatever materials are in your satchel! So long as you've got an Apricorn and a Tumblestone, you can make a Poké Ball anytime. Or with an Oran Berry and a Medicinal Leek, you can whip up a Potion—so heal up your Pokémon whenever they need healing!
Linka: I've already learned how to craft pokeballs, so this should be easy.
Rei: Research going all right? You can see if you've got tasks ready to turn in on the Pokédex's cover. Once you've got some tasks good and done, go check in with Professor Laventon! See you soon!
Linka: O.K. Alright let's see what other pokemon to catch. (She searches the area and came across a sleeping caterpillar that was colored red, has a cream belly, and a horn.) That must be Wurmple. O.K. I'll just quietly appraoch it and...(She catches Wurmple with one of the pokeballs she crafted.) I caught it! Beauregurd will be so happy when he sees this!
(Linka then catches a horse with hair made of fire called Ponyta which she named Ponya then a bipetal brown pokemon called Eevee which she named Eve. She then catches two more Shinx with the help of Wings and Bucky. She then gathers materials for pokebals by smashing tumblestone crystals and headbutting trees with her pokemon.)
Linka: Alrightie, that should do it. Time to head back to the camp!
(Linka meets back with Laventon and Rei.)
Linka: I'm back!
Laventon: Oho! If it isn't a Crafting Kit! You must have listened attentively to Rei's teachings. Excellent work, dear girl!
Linka: Yeah, I'm starting t become a pro.
Laventon: This seems a good time to explain to you about survey reports and the rewards they offer. On that note, let me check the research tasks you've completed thus far. (Checks Linka's survey support.) Hmhm fascinating. I'll update our pokedex with this new data! (Makes some edits to the pokedex.) You've made good progress on these research tasks, Linka. I do believe you're ready to move up the ranks! (Smiles) Let's head back to the village and report the good news to Captain Cyllene. It's time you earned yourself a star!
Linka: Alright!
(The group heads back to Jubilife. Linka meets up with Beauregurd)
Beauregurd: Have you got a Wurmple you could give me?
Linka: As a matter of fact (Gives wurmple to Beauregard) I do.
Beauregurd: You really brought me one! You must be as good as the rumors say. I'd like to name this Wurple right away. Now I've been told that Wurple evolves into a pokemon know as Beautifly. So I should give it a name in mind. (Thinks) Hmmm this is a though decision. Which of these do you like best? Beuticia, Beutifred, or Beaugene?
Linka: If you ask me, I like Beuticia the best.
Beauregurd: Yeah, I like Beuticia, too! I guess that's decided then. I'll raise Beuticia to be a splendiferous Beautifly. Wait and see!
Beuticia: Bye, Linka.
Linka: I'll see you whenever I'll come to the Galaxy Headquarters.
(At Cyllene's Office Linka comes to her desk.)
Cyllene: If you've got progress to report, I will judge it's worthiness. Show me your pokedex.
Linka: With pleasure. (Hands Cyllene the new pokedex. Cyllene reads it and looks back at Linka.)
Cyllene: Hm. You have made progress. It seems you have earned yourself a star. With this, you have officially attained the rank of First Star in the Galaxy Expedition Team.
Linka: (Fist pumps) Awesome!
Cyllene: Have these as well. They are further recipes you'll need for crafting. (Gives Linka recipes for Heavy balls and Revives.)
Linka: Cool. I'll use my crafting kit to make these.
Cyllene: That a stranger like you should fall from the sky and yet flourish among us like this is a testament to your native talent and hard work. Most people prefer it when things are simple enough to be judged on face value alone. And proving your worth by moving up through our ranks is something anyone can understand. Keep at it, and even if you did fall from the sky, people may be more willing to accept you. Working your way through the ranks will also be a help if you wish to make a life for yourself here. A higher rank will grant you access to more types of Poké Balls and greater rewards.
Linka: I shall search everywhere in Hisui to complete it's first Pokedex!
Cyllene: For today, at least, you've earned yourself a meal at the Wallflower and a good night's rest.
(Linka, Rei and Laventon are the Wallflower for their celebration.)
Laventon: So, Linka, my girl! I believe a jolly good congratulations is in order! Well done on earning your First Star rank!
Rei: Our usual order of potato mochi tastes even better when there's something to celebrate! Hey, by the way—have you taken on that request Beauregard had?
Linka: I did, I even help give his wurmple a name.
Rei: Well, most people here don't know much about Pokémon. You've noticed, right? So it's our job as the Survey Corps to take care of any issues that crop up because of that. We're basically Pokémon problem solvers.
Laventon: Indeed so! Some people will ask you for help when you talk with them, while other requests will need to be claimed from the blackboard I keep in my lab. Speaking of which, weren't you approached with a request recently, Rei? What's it all about?
Rei: That one...might be a better fit for Linka than me. I don't think I'll be able to pull it off unless I get better at Pokémon battling first.
Laventon: Ah, yes. That request came from Mai of the Diamond Clan, if I recall correctly? The people of the Diamond Clan have lived here in Hisui since before the Galaxy Team arrived. If we could establish good relations, I'm sure there is much we might learn from them, including more about the local Pokémon...
(After dinner the three call it a day and head back inside. But not before Linka helped with some of the villagers' requests. Linka was in her Futon think about the day she had.)
Linka: This is great! Caught many pokemon, help a guy get his own pokemon, and earn a star among the ranks! I starting to like it here. (She then starts thinking about her brothers) Loki, Loni, Luke, Lane, Lynn, Lars, Leif, Lexx, Levi, Leon how are you doing over there?
Linka is now a Star 1 member! I have a question for you, which brother(s) would you like to join the Galaxy Team? I'm thinking about having Loki and/or Luke help Linka with the pokedex. Leave it in the comments!
